Costa Coffee - Church Street in Blackpool

Probably the slowest serving Costa I've ever been in. One server and 4 "baristas" (the quotes indicating their level of skill, I think chimps would have been quicker) and there was still a queue out of the door and a massive knot of people waiting for drinks. Average of 4 minutes per customer. Absolute joke for a coffee shop.

Went here this morning had a Flat white, a cappuccino, a Terry's chocolate orange muffin and a teacake. Was served by a rather rude Gemma. Food was ok mind you can't really get that wrong. Coffee was ok not the greatest though. The worst costa coffee's I've been in. Tables dirty staff don't really give a S###. Certainly wouldn't recommend coming here.

Didn't have any food......this is the 2nd place this weekend with slug trails on carpet.....doesn't look good.

Late,food cold.The diver kept asking for a code number which I didn't have,kept giving him last four digits of my phone number which he wouldn't accept at first.Overall not a good experience.

ordered 2 Hazel lattes, one was just a cup of hot milk and syrup. zero coffee in it. think was just an oversight as usually great here

Not great. Clearly, there were no cleaners on this morning (20th Oct) as the toilets were disgraceful. Service was really slow despite there being 5 folk behind the bar - anyone fancy doing a bitnof cleaning? Can't see the manager that was there on Friday who happily said in front of his new staff member (who started that day) that she was getting thrown in the deep end. I happily said in 16 years of hospitality management I never felt I had to throw anyone in the deep end. What's with the empty displays and lack of cakes etc? Pooly ran for a city centre coffee shop. Cafe Nero round the corner was much nicer both for staff and comfort.

Drinks are fine but today (Sunday 13th October) I decided to sit down and have a drink. Big mistake. Where I sat, there were 2 slugs present and slug trails all against the wall by the window. Hate to see what there kitchen is like. Off putting for a company of it's stature.

Didn’t send chocolate twist or even let me know. Had to ring to find out they had none then they expect ME to let just eat know as it wasn’t their problem. Didn’t put in the marshmallows in hot chocolate that was a paid addition. Chicken panini awful

One of the workers blatantly harassed my friend and made her visibly uncomfortable. I am disgusted by this behaviour. He made inappropriate comments towards her, asking her to “save him" and saying the she is “a sight”. He was a bald man wearing glasses and he looked about 50, making my friend, who is a teenager uncomfortable. The both of us will not be returning anytime soon. 1 star. Also, the service was very slow and we were in the queue for much too long.

Just called in for my usual coffee this morning. Conny the barista made me a fantastic skinny flat white. Hot, creamy and and full of flavour. Staff exceptional.

Standards have dropped here I think. Not given any napkins or a sauce for my coffee cup. 3 attempts to scan a gift card. Lots of used and dirty trays , plates, coffee cups ect left on tables. One plus was my roast hog sandwich was nice

This coffee shop no cakes for 2 days now not clean cups and mugs or over the tables it is going down hill fast look at the pictures and u can see

This is a large costa in a prime location. It’s always busy and the takings must be astronomical. So why don’t they spend a bit of money doing it up ? The furnishings are so tired and theres a broken sofa in the corner. I went in today and they were so short staffed they had to use takeaway cups for customers sitting in. I felt so sorry for the staff they were meeting themselves coming back they were so busy - as usual they were all lovely though - which is why I’ve given it 3 stars - otherwise the score would’ve been lower. Come on Costa! Do the place up and get more staff!

The staff seemed very distant from the customers in-store and didn't engage with them except to get served. Better than last time here with the cleanliness but all else still the same. Need to work on customer care and talk to them.

Unfortunately not the best Costa, the staff always seem distracted and a lot of the time forget I have ordered 2 drinks and I have to remind them that I ordered another drink which I shouldn't have to do.

Very rude staff. I asked if I could have my sandwich warmed up, he replied that he only has one pair of hands! Also, food choices for non meat eaters were very limited.

I called in for a coffee and was happy to see plenty of freshly cleaned tables The toilets are key coded and this is on the base of the receipt. They were clean and fresh smelling.

Me + My friend were served by Joe. He was amazing, soo friendly and smiley and was working extremely hard. He was so efficient and had amazing service. Engaged with us and was super quick with our order. the coffee was amazing and so well made. will definitely be coming back x

I’m a regular costa visitor I so enjoy a latte coffee in Blackpool over bank holiday weekend a good clean cafe with friendly staff … personally not keen on the toilets now have to use a access code to gain access but I realise the reason it’s done

Not the best Costa I've visited. Many empty tables had dirty crockery etc on. The floor wasn't clean.

Didnt listen to a word i said, upsold me without me confirming and then overcharged me. I asked for a regular decaff americano and was sold and charged for a medium one, they then served their mate who was behind me in the queue and left me stood there waiting to pay whilst my coffee went cold, they asked me if i wanted milk and i asked for cold milk, they gave me hot. I asked for a tray and got ignored by ALL 4 staff, so i reached over and got one myself in frustration. When i asked to change my hot milk for cold, the barista said snottily "i thought you said you wanted hot" which would be amazing if i had, because it wasnt him who i spoke to- so clearly a pre-rehearsed response. Didnt help that he clearly didnt want to be at work today. Sorry if you have got a hangover mate, but there are over 1 million people want a job, so of you cant be arsed doing yours? Go home and play xbox. The table was filthy and o erflowing with dirty cups and the assistant walking around looked at it all and ignored it. Im a business owner and i spend a lot of time in coffee shops, working. This is possibly the worst Costa i have ever been in, and possibly the worst coffee shop in Blackpool. Ive never been on the receiving end of such shoddy service by a bunch of numpties in my life. Appalling EDIT - was unfortunate to have to call in again today. EXACT experience..Snotty staff who dont listen to your order, blame you for their mistake and start an embarrassing unnecessary argument after i had apologised and said it really didnt matter. Rude. Unprofessional, and a bad example to set for the brand

This Costa at Blackpool is quite large and good seating. The staff are curteous. There is a good supply of food to choose from.

Refreshingly good cuppas, calm and family-friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth the value for money, chocolate chip brownies are very divine, get them while you can. Definitely recommend to anyone...

Very quiet shop when I visited yesterday. I was made to feel like a burden to them because I stopped the side work they were doing. After ordering 2 coffees, 2 cakes, and a heat to eat sausage sandwich, I thought I'd at least be smiled at. Everything just felt like an inconvenience to them, no customer service what's so ever. What annoyed me the most was actually the coffee after spending £17 on some coffee and cake I'd expect it to not be burnt. Something is very wrong with the coffee it tatses burnt and very bitter. The barista that made my coffees also lacked customer service skills aswell as barista skills. I had a mocha and my companion had a caramel latte. They were both awful, but the mocha was especially awful, to the point were I couldn't finish it. I would have said something in store but having worked in a customer facing position for many years, the colleagues didn't look like they'd take it seriously. I should have got a refund because I left 3 quarters of a cup left and my friend only finished hers because if the caramel syrup. Ive avoided Costa for many years because the coffee is crap im glad to know they are consistent in this department, at least.

Slow service with queue out the door. Leaky ceiling with buckets catching drips. Coffee was good though and tables cleared quickly. In my opinion could do with modernization.

Went in for a coffee and the only free table hadn’t been cleaned and there was no staff clearing the table so we did what any person would do. Took the tray with the empty cups to the counter and the person behind the counter was quite rude and told us to leave it where it was.

What can I say, apart from that we have been going into Costa Coffee for a long time now because at the time we had a rescued Lurcher we called him Chip and He was a brilliant pet he was so friendly and loyal it broke our hearts when he passed away he would just lie down next to a radiator and at the side of our chairs, and not moved at all. And we still use Costa Coffee whenever we see one.

customer service is shocking. went to us and Adam spoke to us cocky and we were about to buy something. no need to speak to us the way he did it’s disrespectful and sexist at the fact that he presumed just because we are girls we were gonna do what everyone else does. disgusting costumer service

The assistant manager made my drink. I was having an Iced mango and hibiscus tea which I have had frequently. He went to put two jugs of ice in the cup and I asked him not to put so much in. He was rude in his attitude. I ended up with a warm drink and it tasted awful. No ice in tbe cup. I have been in this costa on a number of occasions and always found the staff to be polite and nice. I mentioned this to the older member who said I can't say anything as he is the assistant manager. The staff should not be afraid to say anything to assistant managers or managers. I was happy with the guy who served me originally when I ordered. Tbe place was not packed so the staff were not overworked. It's a shame as I have given five star in the past.

There were two small cardboard Xmas trees on the display counter. They seemed a token nod to the time of the year and not exactly special. We got our tables. Needed two as there were only two seaters free. That’s not a problem. Out of the three on the window we chose the two clean ones. (Two outta three ain’t bad) Went to order to be greeted by a man in his 40s with “yes mate” This greeting makes me cringe. Not sure why but working in customer service in retail it’s not a phrase I would use as customers aren’t my “mates” I asked for two large lattes and a sticky toffee festive drink to be told there’s no cream. Bit of a let down for a festive treat so I chose a normal latte. I also picked up a Wiltshire ham and cheese toastie. I waited for my drinks, they were put on a tray and my dad carried them over to the table. I waited by the counter for my toastie. It was then shoved across the counter at me. “Excuse me? Have you a knife and fork please?” The young man on the coffee machine motioned his head toward the till and said “over there” then the checkout man who called me mate threw a knife and fork onto the counter without a word. We sat down and drank our drinks and I ate my toastie which was slightly more cooked than I have seen before. It was very well grilled and therefore quite dry. I already felt a bit disappointed by the experience (service and overcooked toastie) considering the prices. Then…..I went to the toilet…. Oh dear. Wet floor, bogey smeared on mirror, unclean sink, unflushed dirty toilet with 🫣🫣 pubic hair on…. We go to Costa a lot, safe to say I won’t visit this one again anytime soon. The coffee was fab, small chip on cup. Definitely could do a LOT better I have included photos of dirty toilet so beware 😂

The moment we arrived, it had an awful smell of damp and mould. When trying to find a seat, we saw a slug/snail trail on the carpet but carried on to find a drink as we had never been let down with the drinks and food. When ordering, the staff weren't organised and looked like they wanted to get home, there was two workers who really tried to make the atmosphere good but were struggling. When sitting to drink with my partner, it felt like we were sitting in an outdated place in some shaddy alleyway. Biscuits were nice, and the hot chocolate wasn't mixed properly, making it harder to drink. Even with the spoon, it was hard to get that wow feeling like normal. Especially on a cold day, we needed something warm. Won't be visiting back to this Costa Coffee 😕 this place needs a huge makeover and chairs/sofa that aren't broken.

As a well spoken, smiley, friendly, and polite English born person, I don't expect to be ridiculed by anybody working in customer services, of a large supply chain. Absolutely shocking behaviour. The till server was making RACIAL slurs to his male colleague after I placed my order. Unsurprising as Blackpool seems to be full of racist ignorant people. He was was also very aggressive and impatient as I was choosing items from the menu. He became argumentive and confrontational as I asked for a particular item behind the glass display and he did not listen. He confirmed the type of tea I ordered 3 times repeating himself when I already confirmed the order, he created what I realized was done deliberately, an embarrassing un-necessary situation with the customer, forcing me to respond 3 times to confirm the type of tea I asked for, which was a popular and very frequently ordered tea on the Costa Menu. A very strange situation, but then I would expect nothing less from a person who has become so bored of his job, that he has to resort to personal and unprofessional misconducts. The disabled toilet had a nasty stale smell of drains, there's obviously a problem with the drains, they are not sorting out, the toilet was left unclean, the floor was extremely damp, pools of sink water everywhere and toilet tissue dropped. There was a female member of staff hoovering the shop floor, banging and clattering the noisy vacuum across the floor with the cable getting trapped around tables and chairs, while people were trying to relax and talk with thier freind's and family. This is not something staff should be doing until customers have left the venue after closing time, and at the end of thier shift. Of course, spraying the tables wiping them down is fine in-between customers, I used to run a business and some light cleaning is acceptable, as presentation is important. There was also a large disgusting filthy dog, a Labrador, shedding fur, which staff allowed to jump up on the leather seating and lay down next to other customers, it was not a guide dog, so it shouldn't have been allowed in the venue. Costa Coffee shops in general are getting worse they have gone downhill since COVID lockdowns began. Most of these shops now, just seem to recruit random people and never take any responsibility to monitor thier performance, these shops are poorly regulated, unmonitored and not very often inspected, and middle management cannot be trusted, because in my experience they're just as bad as the staff themselves. I prefer Starbucks in town, opposite Ann Summers, nicer staff, more respectful and good leadership skills. Even under the pressures of being short-staffed, Starbucks do thier best to please customers. It's no wonder people are ordering online for delivery at home, more and more people are doing this as public places are feeling increasingly unsafe to socialize in, especially for women and girls. Blackpool has a high crime incident rate anyway, so if your visiting Blackpool, I suggest you be very weary if it's your first time and your unfamiliar with the attitude of certain "locals" .... I actually LIVE in Blackpool but I read reviews and know some decent locals and we all chatter amongst each other to know the stories about what goes on from day to day. It's a very troubled area and local businesses don't employ the right staff.

A worker called 'gaz' was a delight to me and my friend. We ordered a hot chocolate and it was served to perfection. Perfect amount of milk and chocolate powder. He is a brilliant worker and I hope he sees this.

Never left a negative review for a Costa before, but this is probably the worst Costa I have ever been into. Inside was just plain dirty - toilets were disgusting and it felt like none of the tables had been cleared for a period of time even though it was only about 11.30 that we went in. Older chap whom I can only presume was the manager was too busy drinking his own drink behind the counter chatting to what I can only presume was one of his regulars to worry about helping the 2 young girls behind the counter get the queue down! Would not visit again!

Service was excellent really quick

Last week I visited this Costa. Despite being the only customer at that time, I still got my order messed up (missing syrup that I pais extra for) - I only found out when close to the rail station, didn't have time to come back. Things like this happen and usually I wouldn't bother to write this review, but the guy who served me seemed hostile and annoyed with me from the very moment I approached the counter. I definately didn't feel welcome and honestly, that was one of my worst Costa experiences! The other employee seemed nice though, unlike my barista

I have not used this costa coffee before. It was pleasantly quiet with plenty of sitting room. The service was quick and friendly. One small downside the toilets may be do with a clean.

Conveniently situated in the town centre, it is my preferred choice of cafe whenever I visit Blackpool. The staff are friendly and efficient and serve your orders promptly. The cafe has a comfortable lounge layout with several cosy, upholstered seats spread around. Suffice to say, the coffee is excellent. Food and alternative drinks are displayed in a large cooling cabinet and are varied and eye-catching, as are the confectionery and desserts on offer. My only gripe with sweets offered by practically every cafe nowadays is that they are disproportionately expensive and therefore it is extremely rare that I am prepared to indulge. That influenced my rating on the 'food ' score.

Great place. Very clean. Staff was very pleasant and friendly. Lots of seating inside and outside too. Definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Superb service, great outlet for atmosphere and food.

Costa had friendly staff, but the service was slow. I waited in the queue for at least 10 minutes. The shop was clean and had a nice atmosphere for sitting and relaxing. Overall, a good spot for a coffee break, but be prepared to wait a bit.

Great staff and coffee in the early morning. Outdoor area well maintained, too. On the last day of my stay, a male member of staff made my 'flat white' worse than both female members did on the previous mornings.

Can always depend on Costa. Great service, lovely cuppa. Started my day here before going on the Heritage Tram Tour. Gave my phone a bit of a charge. Got very busy Saturday afternoon and was too full to sit. But overall a great experience.

Saturday 25th March we visited in Blackpool and we came in here for a coffee and mainly to give our feet a rest from all the walking around. This branch is located in Church Street opposite the Grand Theatre. When we arrived it was rather busy and there was a bit of a queue, so we went to find a table first. We found a table for two, by the window, which we had clear up from the previous occupants. Once the table was sorted, one of us stayed at the table, while the other one joined the queue to get our drinks. It did take a time to order our two flat whites which were £3.15 each. In fairness the staff were doing their best, it was just the number of customers, it was non stop. A very pleasant young lady prepared our coffees, we had a bit of a chat as she did so. We did enjoy our coffees they were well prepared, the correct temperature and flavoursome. It did appear that a good clean was required here. The two armchairs, opposite where we sat, had drink spill marks down their sides, the marks were rather old. The metal base to our table was dusty and old spillage marks, not seen a cloth in long while. The window area where we sat also needed some attention. In summary, very busy, good coffee, friendly staff but needs a good clean.

Super staff - very efficient and very well mannered and chatty. The coffee of course was as good as Costa always is. Comfortable seating but not enough - but is there ever?

I went in early morning, they were able to give me a decaf cappuccino with hazelnut syrup. Very quick service, friendly staff. Wonderful experience, they deserve a bonus. Thank you Oliver and Kim for a great start to my day.

Staff were lovely food was ok but the rubbish under the sofas and snail trails near window seats were a right put off, at least go round before opening and make the shop presentable!!

I have had my fair share of Costa coffee over the years and have never left review but honestly impressed with the quality of the drinks and the friendliness of the staff in this café. Warm and comfortable too. We were in Blackpool for 6 days and always start the day in this café. My coconut latte was spot on, the way I like it, thank you so much. Keep up the good work.

We visited Costa coffee in Church Street, Blackpool at 4.45pm on Saturday 22nd October 2022. I ordered an Americano with cold skimmed milk. It was served in a paper cup even though we were "drinking in". I was told they had finished the skimmed milk for the day so I would have to put up with semi skimmed and that they were no longer serving in proper cups. My wife's drink had to be a mix of semi-skimmed and full fat milk too! Despite this, a further forty plus people were served. They were, of course, happy to take the full amount of money for the extremely poor service. Two ladies further down the queue got a proper pot of tea but paper cups. Not good at all - but I went to the toilet before we left and used the only available toilet as the others were occupied. The floor was awash with, hopefully, water. There was rubbish all over the floor and, despite the fact the notice claimed the toilets were checked every 30 minutes, nobody from the staff had been near in the time we were there. Really unprofessional, reflected in hastily posted notice on the door, not straight and handwritten proclaiming card payments only. There are plenty of other places to get a decent coffee in Blackpool and they will certainly be higher up the list in future!

Really lovely iced coffee, but 1 cake was missing and a note said there was a replacement in the bag which would have been fine but sadly it wasn't in the bag. We did order late but it was a last minute decision for a treat for my 40th birthday as we are not really celebrating as my mum is in the hospital. Anyway not to worry, the coffee was lovely and what I really wanted anyway. Would order again.

Sat outside having a coffee and then went into the toilet. Well after seeing all the signs in the cafe about Covid cleanliness I was very disappointed to see that this did not cover the toilets.Floor wet all around the toilet and bits of toilet paper on the floor.If you’re going to have measures in place re Covid then they should also cover the cleanliness of the toilets too.

I often go to this particular Costa due to the fantastic coffee and service from the staff.The reason for this particular review is because of my recent visit on Thursday morning. John (the Manager) was working on his own due to a member of the team who did not turn up. He had about 10-15 people in the que having to not only take the orders but make the coffee himself. Also he had to prepare online orders that are picked up and have to be ready within a short time span.He explained the situation to the people in the shop waiting and then his multi-tasking skills took over. I watched him complete all the orders and put then at the pick up point and then with a smile on his face serve all the people in the shop.What a professional guy who is a credit to the company.

I come regularly to this location, and although times are tough with covid, the staff all treat me well. Times ive taken my three year old in and shes quite messy, though staff always had a smile andtreated us well regardless. Its a busy venue being situated in the town centre so can be a slight wait at times though going off other reviews some people are too impatient. I know a lot of staff by name and theyre decent people who put up with some very rude behavior. Its disconcerting to see them spoken to like that by some. Under non covid circumstances its a chilled atmosphere with interesting clientelle and a nice place to relax whilst shopping. Honestly very happy everytime with service.

Myself and the wife visited Costa when we come away for the weekend. We scanned COVID 19 app at the door before entering and was asked if we had done this, good to see they are in the ball. Nice friendly staff. Order was placed and soon we were sitting at a table enjoying a nice brew and a cake. We will visit here again next year.

I went in to buy a latte and a flat white. The service was slow and disorganised. When i eventually got to the front of the queue i ordered my srinks a flat white and medium latte. At this point the barista tried to palm me off with a latte that he had made by mistake earlier and had been sat arouns for a while. When i asked for a freshly made one he refused. Didn't realise that costa was so hard up they need to aell old coffees

What can you say about this place? Coffee is well overpriced, people of Blackpool are the lower society dregs. It’s not great coffee at London prices. The average person from Blackpool would sooner have a coffee out of a flask in the mornings, or maybe a can of fosters lager.
