Cottage in Blackpool

He venido aquí muchas veces en los últimos 10 años, siempre en el semestre de octubre, y esta noche fue la primera vez que me decepcionó. El servicio fue muy lento, tomó 25 minutos para que alguien tomara nuestro pedido y eso solo sucedió porque le pedimos al camarero que lo tomara. Tardaron otros 25 minutos en salir los alimentos, lo que no me parece tan mal. Pensé que la comida era lo suficientemente buena pero no tan buena como solía ser.

Después de esperar casi una hora para nuestra comida fue extremadamente decepcionado. Le pregunté al camarero dónde se decía que iba a ir a comprobar nuestra comida y milagrosamente salió directamente con ella. El pescado en sí era incluso peor que el servicio. Pedí un eglefino grande. Estoy bastante seguro de que lo que recibí fue merluza grande. No estaba preparado para discutir y esperar otra eternidad a que uno fuera cocinado. Pagué la cuenta y me fui para no volver.

Terrible, solía ser genial! Asumo que esto está bajo nueva propiedad y necesita a alguien que sepa lo que están haciendo, Vino aquí mucho a lo largo de los años, siempre fue fabuloso. Esta vez estaba vacío cuando llegué a las 4 , pista allí. El servicio era pobre, el pescado no cocinado, empapado de masa que cuando se quita tenía una capa de masa blanca esponjosa sin cocinar por debajo. El pescado estaba soso, las patatas fritas pálidas y poco apetitosas, podía poner mi cuchara de pie en la salsa. Cuando me preguntaron si quería marrón o perla blanca, pedí marrón, cuando llegó no era ni aquí ni allá, no blanco pero no marrón Café estaba bien, Le dije al camarero sobre el pescado que no podía comer a lo que él respondió, oh perdón por pasar la información a alguien. Eso fue todo. Este lugar se cerrará en breve si no lo rescatan con un buen cocinero de pescado con papas fritas y algún personal capacitado acogedor. Pagamos y luego una jovencita vino y dijo: ¡Oye, grosera, has pagado, no tenía ni idea! Estoy viendo estas reseñas esperando que se reúnan como era una pequeña joya, pero no se ve hacia ese lado, ya que las reseñas hablan por sí mismas!

¡Qué decepción! Tuve que esperar más de 20 minutos antes de dar mi orden y 2 personas frente a mí se fueron antes de ser servido. Tuve que esperar unos 20 minutos más para que mi pescado se cocinara mientras escuchaba todo el tiempo al personal quejándose de trabajar allí y la falta de personal, y para ser justos la mujer que me atendía también era miserable. Pero bueno, no me importaba esperar y escucharlos gemiendo si mi comida era buena. Llegué a casa y qué decepción. El pescado era insípido y la masa estaba espesa y empapada por dentro, no la masa crujiente ligera que esperaba después de bifurcar más de £ 23 por ella! He estado yendo allí durante más de 30 años mientras visitaba Blackpool, pero no volveré a ir. Vamos chicos, pónganse las pilas porque solían servir los mejores fish and chips de Blackpool, ya no, ni de lejos.

Really disappointed and unfortunately a waste of £15. Such a chaotic way to work (if you have been you’ll understand) and the lady who served us was so incredibly rude. We actually felt more stressed after we left. We also wouldn’t usually mind waiting 30 plus minutes as we understand food cooked to order takes time but the food was absolutely not worth it and ended up in the bin.

I went here last night for a takeaway. On my arrival at 7.15pm the door was locked. Another man was also there banging on the door. There were staff inside and they saw us but didn't come to the door. We shouted are you open and they looked at us and didn't respond. We presumed they had closed for the evening. It was very disappointing as I had been before in the restaurant and it was lovely. I looked at the opening times on line before we went as this is not a place that you pass the main road you would have to plan to go there specially. This was a complete waste of time. I would understand if it was 5-10 minutes before closing time but it wasn't. This really needs looking at!

Been visiting the cottage for over 40 years, love it still. We normally have standard fish with chips and mushy peas, a brew and bread/butter, could not eat the extra large fish, it is huge!!!

Came here due to recent reviews and was impressed by the friendly staff, freshly made fish and chips. We will definitely be returning. It is great value for money and quality of food.

The fish and chips here are delicious however the customer service is extremely poor! I asked for 2 tables near to each other for myself and friends who we were meeting at the illuminations and they refused and were rude too! Won’t be eating here again!

We have lovely fish and chips at this restaurant. The quality of food was delicious and you were served a large portion. The host was very friendly and the place had a homely feel. No real fuss over covid-19 regulations - more interested in providing a service which is important as that is what you are paying for. Interesting building.

As the name suggests this fish and chip shop is actually a very old cottage. It is situated about two miles outside of Blackpool town centre. Had a beautiful meal served by friendly staff. Can’t fault a thing, would recommend.

Just had the nicest fish and chips i’ve ever had in Blackpool and was served by the nicest most polite lady called Lisa ....... Absolutely amazing 5* food and service we will be returning. Love from the Geordies

I went while working in the area having seen it in a TV show. It was amazing. I didn't want a massive meal and so the stuff member suggested the special which was halibut. It came with chips peas bread and butter and tea for a fiver!!! Very fresh and tasty. Will be back

Came in for a meal with my fella who is obsessed with fish! Such a lovely traditional restaurant with a warm welcoming atmosphere. Straight away we were told of the regulations on masks and the one way system. All the staff were wearing masks and gloves, very reassuring to see. I had sausage and chips and he had the big catch hake. What a fish! It was as big as your arm and cooked to perfection. The bread was as soft as a cloud! The ladies waiting on us couldn’t have been more helpful and polite! All around are picture of celebrities who have been and enjoyed a meal at the cottage. What was lovely to see was all the pictures and articles relating to the history of the cottage (including a blue heritage plaque) and Blackpool and the Fylde coasts fishing traditions, past and present. A true gem of the Fylde, not to be missed! 10/10 you will see us again very soon!

Having watched Ricky and Ralf on TV, we thought we’d give The Cottage a try. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and track and trace taken, face-masks and gloves were worn and we felt safe and secure. We ordered The Cottage Special and the fish was perfectly cooked, we also enjoyed the homemade tartare sauce! The children’s meals were a good sized portion. A friendly atmosphere and we enjoyed our evening! It’s a shame we didn’t have any room for pudding. Highly recommend! We will be coming again.

The service was sublime, perfect following of the COVID restrictions and fully supportive to all customers. Friendly members of staff and the food is delicious!!!!!

My family and I go to the cottage once a year while visiting Blackpool, one of the best fish and chips you can have! The staff are also very friendly, all wearing masks and gloves unlike a lot of restaurants around Blackpool

I came to the cottage chippy with family. Thought it was reassuring that they r doing the guidelines.ie track and trace and wearing gloves and masks. Had a fantastic meal and can,t wait to go again

We were asked to pay for our food upfront (nearly £30) but demanded a full refund after seeing the girl on the till with her mask below her nose. The other girl on the counter was continually scratching her neck with gloves on her hands. The till girl also handled our cash with her gloves on and then lifted another customers fish with the same gloved hands, to put salt and vinegar on it. Disgusting behaviour.Dreadful hygienic practices at the best of times never mind during a global pandemic. Avoid this place at all costs.

After not seeing my grandmother for a few months due to her shielding, we decided to go to our local chip shop. Warm welcomes on arrival, track and trace was done. All stagg were wearing face coverings, gloves and aprons. We got prioritised a table with wheel chair access for my grandmother. We had the lite bite meals (which was massive). Overall 9/10. Would highly recommend!!

I would advise people with a disability not to use this restaurant as the owner does not obey the law regarding people with a medical exemption not being required to wear a face mask.As a result when I was in there I was abused by customers and had my disability questioned

Came here on a recommendation. We’d booked but when we got there something had gone wrong, nevertheless they got us seated as quick as they could. We had haddock and have to say it was lovely, the batter was perfect and child portion was huge too. I had the curry sauce with mine which was delicious, only downside was they forgot our bread sides. Other than that, very cheap for huge portions. Definitely worth a visit.

we had come to Blackpool to see the the lights had seen the cottage on telly so thought we would give it a try .Five had fish and chips and i had halibut which came with either peas beans or curry slice of bread butter tea coffee or soft drink really good value for money .When we got bill it was even better as they are still doing eat out to help

Visited here tonight after watching Ricky and Ralf on their north travel show. We definitely were not disappointed, amazing nongreasy chips and lightly battered fabulous fish. Mushy peas were so tasty as well as the tartare sauce. We went to the Magpie (whitby) which has an excellent reputation too and definitely on par. Massive portion and excellent value for money. We will be back!

Mother in law had gone on for months that when we visited Blackpool we needed to visit the cottage as she had seen from the tele how good they were, pulling up looked promising, didn’t like the shouting through the window to order, as not everyone wanted fish and I wanted to look at the menu and it throw me off! Had cod and chipsx5, cod bites (10-nice sized) with chips and a side, and a jumbo sausage with chips, can say it was alright didn’t blow me away, I’ve had loads better! My aunties fish she got a mouthful of bones so was put off, chips joe average, gravy...bland, wouldn’t return as there as definitely better out there!

used to go here when i was younger then they had an argument with the family so we dident go back go preston old road instead but when ever its closed i like to give the cottage another try because it used to be so good but every time since when we go it just seems to be going more n more down hill after today i wont be trying it again first they got the order wrong then when we go back had to wait then when we get it home for the second time food is bland and the gravy might aswell be water really dissapointed

Absolutely banging. They’d run out of battered sausages so the (unbelievably friendly) waitress offered a jumbo sausage covered in scraps and it was f-clucking fantastic. The chips were crispy, my steak pudding was hot, moist and sloppy (like my girlfriend) and the whole meal including a beer cost about 40p. Would recommend all the 1 star reviewers get their brains checked. This place has won heaps of awards and for good reason. I will be returning.

Our take away tonight of hake, chips, peas, curry sauce and home made tartare sauce was as usual, exceptional. Crispy light batter perfectly cooked hake and home made tartare sauce sets the Cottage in a different level to all the other very good chip shops in Blackpool. An unexpected deal on the hake made our meal even better value. Thank you Cottage Chippy.

I read a lot of reviews about this chippy mostly all good, i honestly do not agreed with the reviews the chips where very greasy, the cheese & onion pie was very greasy my wife got fish & chips and again very greasy. Stay away.

Saw this on Ricky & Ralph’s road trip, so we had to call in. Very nice setting, friendly staff and the fish and chips were outstanding. Definitely going to visit again next time we are in Blackpool. All the best Michael & Becky

Called in at the cottage, for a late dinner for us, got two pie, chips and gravy for £11 20 which I thought was a bit steep, Although the cheese and onion pie was nice, the steak pie wasn’t anything special, the chips were horrid, worst we have had in a long time, so disappointed, this is suppose to be an award winning chippy, not in my book it’s not, and won’t be going back.

Having watched the TV series Ricki & Ralph’s great northern series my Wife wanted to visit the famous chippy from the series.Arrived on Saturday evening and were greeted warmly by the young waiter who took our details for Track & trace.Social distancing was great throughout our visit.We ordered the lite bite Fish & Chips and the Cottage special.The Fish was perfect and melted in your mouth.Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant with lots of famous faces on the wall who had previously visited the restaurant.Well worth the journey.

Like a few on here, seen Ralf and Ricky so decided to go and see it for ourselves. We drove from Stockport. During these difficult times good to see social distancing was being observed. Can't speak highly enough of the staff, attentive and friendly. We all really enjoyed the food and nothing was left.

What can I say? The Cottage chippy is the best Chippy on the Fylde Coast bar none ! The food is to die for and the chips were cooked to perfection and the fish was delicious and the batter was crispy and golden and perfect as always! Can not rate this place highly enough!!!

I came at the beginning of july with family for a takeaway meal. We throughly enjoyed the fish and chips and we especially enjoyed the homemade tartare sauce. A big thank you the cottage. We will visit next time we are in blackpool.

Drove up after watching Ricky & Ralf. Really disappointed. The fish was so greasy it was difficult to eat, luckily it tasted so old and fishy we didn’t need to carry on, just threw it away and went to a different chippy. Food look nothing like the TV. Very disappointing.

The cottage was featured on a recent tv programme and it looked amazing. Drove up from Cheshire to try them. Was very disappointed with the takeaway. The fish had so much oil at the bottom of the tray which made it inedible.

The food didn’t taste fresh. The fries were really hard and not tasted fresh. The jalopenose cheese balls didn’t contain any jalapeño in them. The chicken was really salty. Regretfully will not order again.

Lovely takeaway for some of the best fish ever. Selection is great and the Cottage always has amazing deals and daily specials. Always a treat to visit here...staff are very polite and friendly too. It's bliss!!

i like chicken cottage but forgot my chips and the chicken was horrible this time plus got 10 piece chicken and get 8 drumsticks thats not chicken man but usually are a lot better so would still use

2 rotten pieces of chicken in those 10. Never again. Beware.

Let us down on this occasion, no dips given and no salad with any of the meals. Also the driver had a hard time finding us.

Staff brilliant especially driver

had a medium haddock with mushy peas---pure white flaky fish in a very good batter--mushy peas not too watery ---barm a bit on the big side.

I ordered on behalf of 6 of my colleagues, however, when the food arrived, half of the order was missing. Took this up with the staff who struggled to speak English and rather than acknowledge their mistakes they were very rude, finally they agreed to replace the missing food, that was 2 days ago and I’m still waiting...

The portion of chips has significantly reduced and the prices have gone up. Doesn't make sense, i might as well use another take away next time.

Called in after a walk around Blackpool, staff were welcoming & friendly, I had the medium fish & chips my other half had the small fish & chips not forgetting mushy peas, we both had plenty on the plate and they were very good, the only let down being a very average small cup of coffee.

Sent lamb not chicken. Gave to dog. Don’t eat red meat

Food was nice, fresh and tasty, just the let down was that the chicken was dry from inside otherwise the food was good.

Visited Sunday tea time, the place was quiet but welcome friendly. Lighter bite meal is enough for us and never disapoints. We both had haddock and chips, well cooked and tasty. We love the traditional food and atmosphere. Member of staff told us you can have 2 light bite meals (small fish, chips, side and drink, bread and butter) for a tenner, Monday to Thursday, so we'll be back!

Rubbish, waste my time, food disgusting and price too high

We were regular customers and ordered mild chicken fillet burger but it turned out to be very spicy. I rang them directly to complain about it but they only denied it and said they haven't cooked a spicy burger all day as if we don't know the difference between spicy and mild. It was clearly their mistake and didn't even get an apology!

Compared to chicken cottage at Shipley was absolute rubbish wont be going again

Amazing service as per usual and the food and staff never fail to amaze us!!! The fresh fish and amazing chips always come in outstanding portions! Could not name one thing to improve upon as the service is fast and always with a smile and the food is always hot and delicious! Highly recommend the cottage and its idiosyncratic and cozy style!!!

I came to the cottage chippy with my family for our tea. Well want can I say it was amazing. The food was delicious like normal. My husband asked for it lightly battered which he got it just like he likes it. Also I tried the hake for the first time which was also very nice and tasty. The waitress that served us was very nice and polite and asked us was everything ok with our meals which we replied yes it was. I will be recommending it to all my friends and family and we we be back very soon and thank u again .
