Visited on their 1st day open following new year break, a fantastic experience, friendly enthusiastic staff, great food,.very clean.

I’ve been twice now and both times have been really impressed with the excellent friendly service and high-quality food! Highly recommend!

Amazing view over Chesil beach, local beer,great food. The mackerel bap and fish pie are thoroughly recommended. Table service was great and there are some scary photos of local storms and shipwrecks. Mind the step on the way to the toilet 😆

My family and I visited the Cove House Inn a total of 4 times on a week's getaway in Portland, twice to eat and twice to just sit and have a drink outside the pub and enjoy the views. The Cove House is very charming, relaxed and welcoming and the food is really fantastic, Sunday roast was a particular highlight but my crab linguine was amazing also, the rest of my family's food was given a big thumbs up as well. We booked a table in advance both times we ate and would not have got in otherwise so that's worth considering to avoid disappointment....if I had one criticism it would be the cost of desert seems a little high, don't get me wrong, it was lovely, but I would think slightly cheaper would have just about made it perfect. We will not hesitate to come back again when we are in the area and having it as a local really helped make our stay in Portland memorable.

It is located on the front. Food was very good very busy so had to wait a little for our food. But we were notifed so was not a problem would recommend

The Cove House Inn drips in history, from smugglers to raging storms to toilets that take you underground. The food is great, the views, especially sunsets are stunning and the service matches it all.

Wonderful lunch with friends for a belated celebration of my birthday. The fish pie looked so good we all ordered it, and it didn't disappoint!

Love this gem of a pub. Such a nice atmosphere on a sunny evening with the stunning views over the beach and the sunset. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. (Book a table though as if it’s nice, they’ll be full!)

Today I was served the literal best roast I have ever had in my life. The chef has obviously changed since I last ate at the cove. Jaw droppingly good.

Friday evening in September on an Autumnal evening and sat outdoors at The Cove Inn watching the sun set over Lyme Bay. We ordered fish and chips and Chilli (from the specials board). The pea fritter complemented the fresh fish and the chips were excellent. The chilli had the correct hint of heat (for me), two marvellous meals to eat and watch the sun set. Staff are polite and helpful, a lovely evening, highly recommended

A hidden treasure, great food, good selection of beers, fantastic staff and a sunset view to die for. Will definitely visit again next time we're in Dorset.

We had a drink and the charcuterie which was pricey considering the price but what we had was lovely.some cheese with it would be nice

I was in Portland at the weekend to visit family & we visited The Cove House Inn for our evening meal on Saturday. The menu was very limited & they had a special menu chalk board on display. Two of us chose a starter of baked cheese to share. It was not spectacular at all & by lifting the it up & looking at the bottom we discovered it was President, which is the brand I would never choose in the supermarkets. For our main, I had the prawn & chorizo linguini, horrid dish as the linguini was far overcooked, prawns the same & to much chorizo that the meal was not balanced at all. My son chose the burger & commented he would have been better going to burger King, say no more. The other member of our party had the fish & chips. The bill came to a staggering £71 & the overall suggestion was never again to eat here.

Lovely food and friendly staff, the Moules Marinier were the best I have ever had , beautiful rich creamy sauce,!8 of us ate and everyone loved their food!

Excellent meal for a lunchtime stop, we were tempted by the Lemon Sole on the specials board. Very polite people working here too, helpful and polite (after an exploding cider bottle issue in our campervan) Thanks for a memorable visit, would recommend. Only issue is parking, but the high street is a good back up option. It was busy when we arrived on a Friday at 1pm . Thanks again 😃

Very enjoyable couple of pints on the edge of the sea.

I can't really comment as we went to see if we could get a table for a meal but it was full. Judging by the number of people there and that all the tables that were empty were reserved I'm guessing it's a popular place to visit. Maybe we'll book next time we are in Portland.

Selfrighteous, unwelcoming landlord unlike the stunning location. A pub to only visit once and never come back unless the managment changes. Pubowners who treat their guests in such an arrogant condescending manner are like like librarians who don’t appreciate literature. Not only were we treated in a unprofessional manner, the Guinnes was not within my top 1000 best drinks. Clean your lines please ! Don’t recommend this pub

Great pub with great beer. But beware that they stop taking orders for Linch at 14:00. We arrived 15 minutes late and had to do with crisps…

Wow This place is amazing...great food, great atmosphere and such friendly staff. The view is beautiful as well. I had the best fish and chips I have ever tasted,,,just perfect. Will definitely visit again.

Really a hidden gem, you can never imagine a decent and best quality seafood meal by just paying a normal pub food price! Take a look to their black board for their seafood option and you will be amazed! Really worth visiting no matter how far away it is!

Sensational food. The choice were all amazing, every dish was made with Gluten Free in mind and it all tastes amazing. Good choice of drinks and a view over the water to die for. It really is a 10/10 of a place. You won't be disappointed.

A real hidden gem. Lovely clean pub. Food was out of this world. The fish pie was absolutely bursting with fish and the king prawn and chorizo linguine was amazing. Loads of prawns tasted fantastic. Really friendly staff. Would def visit again. We were too full to even look at the desert board but will def visit again

The most lovely views along Chesil beach from the outside seating. We went for sundowners and really enjoyed the evening. Plastic glasses are available if you want to walk down to the sea or along the esplanade.

Great bar & restaurant, friendly staff and comfortable surroundings

They offer a Sunday Menu online, which is why we booked, only to turn up and this option not be available on Sunday. Disappointing but we would have just left with nothing else to say, if not to be met with a very sarcastic, brunette waitress who said "good luck finding one!" Didn't mind a menu change but she let's the whole pub down as we have been in for drinks on previous nights and met with good service. Customer facing roles, being in one myself, shouldn't be met with comments like that. She proceeded to follow us out and say she was "being genuine!" Unfortunately Cove Inn, this member of staff let the rest of your pleasant team down.

Nice views, double the price for drinks of our local pub in Weymouth

As a local the Cove has always felt like home. A beautiful setting and a fantastic atmosphere there especially on the summers evening watching the sunsets. Good food and friendly staff add to the enjoyment of being a regular at The Cove.

The pub was fully booked and we managed to get a seating on our last day. Thought the food would be better, but we would say average.

In a time where eating out for pub food is becoming increasingly expensive for standard fare we have to say what a great experience we had at the Cove House Inn today. We are on holiday so you expect to pay slightly more but we are there at lunchtime off the special board for £30, I have local Portland crab and chilli linguine and my wife had the smoked haddock fishcake, high end cooking and excellent service, two pints of Guinness a pint of San Miguel and a large glass of Savignon and the bill was £55 excellent 👍 we return Friday 😊

Only drank here although the food looked very good. We loved here so much we visited every evening during our week stay. Ok, the pub doesn't own the sunset but it does provide a brilliant place to enjoy it with some super well kept beer. Then on the last night it all turned stormy and the pub turned into that lovely weather bearing cosy retreat we also love. Definitely on our return to list!

Greeted at the door with a warm welcome. Service with a smile. Would recommend for anyone in Portland, but not on a Monday as it and other establishments are closed.

If you're on Portland , this is the pub to go to. On a sunny day outside with stunning views of the coast. On a windy overcast day, then inside is a cosy place to be .

Haven't eaten here yet but intend to on our next visit. Food always looks and smells like it's worthy of more than just 5 stars.

I can not recommend this place enough!!! Staff is a really friendly pub is cosy and the food is so delicious!!! We had a stop before going to the castle, and this was the best decision. Situated on a seashore, you can sit outside and enjoy your surroundings, or you can sit in warm inside sheltering from wind. We tried multiple things on the menu and loved them all! My personal favourite was the fish pie!!! Btw not sure what you do to your chips but they are delicious! If in the area I will be going back.

Excellent place for a spot of lunch and some drinks. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and handled our booking for a celebratory lunch for a large group of 19 people and kids smoothly and efficiently. The ambience is great too with stunning views and cheerful vibes.

Lovely homely pub with a fabulous restaurant. Options especially the daily specials were varied and all appealed. We had mussels and pork belly bites to start and fish pie for mains. All were delicious and filling. Would definitely recommend it but be warned a growing reputation means booking is essential. Can’t wait to return

Checked bank statements, was charged over £30 for a pint and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which is £22 on the website so £8 for a pint ! Never again.

It's a nice cozy bar, especially if the wood fire is burning. Food is hit and miss but the service is good and everyone is friendly. Great views of Chesil beach.

Lovely position by Chesil Beach. Popped in for a drink and a bite. However, feel that £37.50 for one crab sandwich, one chicken sandwich, one glass of wine and one guinness to be excessive. To be charged £14 for a crab sandwich which did not have a great amount of meat in , was not really what I would have expected. No receipt was given when we left. Its a shame as we have had many good lunch at this pub.

Food was incredible, but sadly it was overshadowed by very poor service. We sat for 45 minutes without anyone taking our order (we were told not to order at the bar, even though we were parched). We could see thr staff standing around chatting while we waited to order and again after we'd asked for the bill multiple times. The food itself was delicious - we had the crab linguini, mussels, and fish and chips and recommend it all. Beautiful views and location.

We sat out side with the dog as the weather is lovely today and had lunch the food was delicious and a good price they gave us plenty we were full up .it is a sun trap there and we will be back very soon

Great Pub. Buzzing atmosphere outside. Dog friendly. Food was lush. Roast beef Brisket. Right by the sea. Reasonably priced too. Would recommend and definitely return.

Eaten here many time and food and service great, however came here on an evening , didn’t expect to get a table but happy to eat outside . Waitress then . Informs me the food we wanted couldn’t be served outside as it was too cold! . Apparently Chef is worried of bad reviews , I said my problem if food went cold but they wouldn’t budge In the meantime others came in and were given a table in front of us ….. So disappointed in the attitude and lack of concern .

We just went down for a few beers but . The food looked nice . Staff are very friendly Great atmosphere. And the sunsets as you can see are outstanding .

Fantastic local pub with really amazing food. I personally went for the fish pie and I thought it was Michelin star level. I'd definitely recommend it.

Great food, fantastic location and lovely staff. Starters and chicken burger were great but I did think that 19 mussels in a £15.50 main is a little mean given the additional cost is minimal. Lovely sauce though. Thank you.
