Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and great food. Looking forward to our next visit!

Bored with the food choices, the burnt ends are no longer burnt but slushy and chewy. Swap out the prison metal plates you have used them for too long, get some cherry beers in. But yep I will keep coming back!

Super yum! So many original and tasty options for drinks. This place never fails to impress.

We had a fantastic meal here tonight, on our first visit. Lovely food, we had a selection of different dishes on our family table of six. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed all the dishes. I’d thoroughly recommend the platters. Service was very attentive. We’ll definitely be back.

I visited on a very quiet Thursday evening after a long day of travelling and kids not getting along. Service was solid and polite, the barman was observant and accomodating, allowing a few taste of the craft beers so I could make a choice. I had the brisket cheese burger which in my opinion was good but not 5 star BBQ, the chips were fresh and tasty, the house pickles were a treat. The craft beers selection was admirable. If you want some BBQ and craft beers, I can’t imagine a better place in St A’s.

Great pub and food, one suggestion when 4 people eating with 2 sharing platters, perhaps have 4 of the items I.e. sweetcorn.

Food was so good I forgot to take a picture for once! Amazing place - top service, incredible food (especially the beef rib but honestly nothing was bad) and we all ate heartily and had a few drinks for approx £50 each. Brilliant evening.

Another great night at the craft. Brought our friends from out town as they know it’s the best spot. Food incredible as always and service amazing. Visited Craft & Cleaver recently and had an exceptional experience. Jessica, our server, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. The food was absolutely brilliant, with the burnt ends stealing the show—tender, smoky, and packed with flavour. The service and atmosphere were top-notch, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommend!

Incredible spot in st Albans , food is other worldly and the seafood boil night they do is amazing and well worth locking into your calendar as it only happens once a year. Staff are super friendly and accomodating , bartender Phoebe especially

Great food we were their for my sons birthday, this is his favourite place to eat! The food is delicious quite expensive I thought but it was a treat. Definitely will go back we all enjoy it. Brisket burger and the Mac & cheese is yummy!!

Amazing authentic high quality food

Came for dinner for boyfriends birthday, Phoebe was amazing, made us feel welcomed and gave great service. The food was perfectly cooked, we both plan to come back soon!

If there is a better dish in St A than the craft and clever pit beans, I’ve not had it; absolutely fantastic!!

The best place in st albans for meat. Service was quick and the meat was oh so succulent. After all that my mouth was so so dry, low and behold they served the most delectable cocktail. Fantastic all round, would recommend.

Had a great Thanksgiving meal here on 28th November. The food was delicious and the portions very generous. There was a set menu which had great variety that kept us all satisfied. The dessert was creamy, fruit and very scrumy. With lovely cocktails and craft beer to accompany the meal a great time was had by all.

Very good food. I liked everything, in terms of flavour and quality of the meat. I've ordered the Texas tray. This is not the first time I came and last time I've ordered the Alpine melt burger...simply fantastic. I also loved their hot sauce which is home made, but I don't know its ingredients, they were not specified. About drinks, I had the lager of the house, pretty good. The location is nice, clean and good music. Staff very smiley and friendly.

Pretty sure my original review has been deleted Never eaten here but the way they treat people going for a job here is disgusting Make young people do a shift, then leave them hanging for weeks to see if they have a job, then never contacted them back. They just use young people for a shift so they don’t have to pay them.

We went for the Thanksgiving meal and it was lovely. It was a set menu, but with enough variety to keep us all happy. The food was well cooked and the portions very generous. The pudding was to die for; creamy, fruity and just yummy. With cocktails and beers to accompany the feast who could ask for more.

We had a fantastic Christmas meal at Craft and Cleaver. The food was delicious, but what really stood out was the service. Jennie really looked after us, making sure we were all topped up and everyone had everything they needed. The ladies making drinks behind the bar were super too. Best service I've experienced in a while. Looking forward to returning.

We had both sharing plates enough for 4 people. The meat fell off the bone it was so tender. The lady let me try the different beers before committing to the one I liked. All staff were very friendly and helpful. It was all clean and tidy.

First time trying this place out and my god it’s hands down the best bbq I’ve ever eaten!. The pork belly starter was just to die for!. Bit of a noisy atmosphere for my liking but that was forgiven as soon as I tasted the food. Service was excellent, very attentive and super polite

Absolutely banging!! Couldn’t have asked for better anything! Excellent service, excellent food beyond expectations on everything!! We gave the place a go a month ago and haven’t been anywhere else since (in the local area)… I’d have added photos but was too focused on what we were eating and the good time we were having to take them. Thank-you to all the staff who are brilliant, accommodating and have a lovely personal touch!! Already looking forward to coming back! I’d highly recommend the sharing trays!!! We are also craft beer lovers and this is actual craft beer not the usual “craft beer” which is mainstream bulk rubbish… there is Beak and Verdant in the fridge to name but two plus many more and on tap as well!! There’s a very lovely guy named Shan who got us the table and made sure we were happy and sorted and Phoebe knows her stuff behind the bar and another Phoebe served us with such amazing service she did the place proud and every single member of staff has a real smile and a love and passion for the place that truly comes across… seriously try it you won’t be disappointed!!

5* easy review Ordered 2 tray platters full of great tasty food. Meat perfectly cooked, even the chips were perfection. Service was really good, especially for a Friday evening The server was lovely, as was the atmosphere.

Nice chilled vibe with cool lighting. Really good BBQ / Smoked food, service was polite, friendly and prompt. I had the combo platter with baby back ribs, brisket burnt ends, bbq beans, fries and pickles. Was an excellent meal, good portion size, nice selection of sauces and the beer was a good pint too. 😎

Nice enough place, but a little underwhelming compared to other BBQ's I've been too. The atmosphere was meh and the food was fine if not small in comparison to somewhere like Red Dog Saloon.

Big group of us dined in today. Family meal for 18th birthday. Food was delicious and orders were spot on. Still left slightly disappointed unfortunately. Service was slow. Drinks were even slower. We’d ordered final drinks and didn’t get them til after we’d settled the bill. Also have never been to a restaurant that doesn’t do some kind of token birthday gesture when advising it’s a birthday. But as I said - food was delicious.

Well the food was terrible. Create your own combo and it would of been ideal for a child , and £25 . The pulled pork was so dry it was inedible and the chicken wasn't much better. Burnt ends were dry and overdone and the slaw was bland and basically pointless. The beer was good though and the beans side wasn't bad but ridiculous tiny portions. The only thing that we both thought was OK was the ribs. But again in a child size portion. I have heard mixed reviews of this place and was sceptical and when you are presented with a bill for £90 for x 2 combos and a few drinks will definitely not be going back. There are plenty of other places to eat in st albans that are far far better than this , so stay away unless you just want a beer.

The food and service were great as usual! Only down side was the price of beers. It seems to have gone up!

Overpriced, overpriced, overpriced!!!!!

If you are a very patient person and love to wait almost an hour for your starter than this is the right place for you. Otherwise if you want fast service phone them in the morning to place your order and it might be at the table by 9pm. The place should be called snail cleaver.

Great service and tasty food. I went back to this place after 5y not being in the country and it still delivers a great food, good beers on tap and cosy atmosphere. Menu has some great meat options but also some salmon , veggie stew or Ceasar salad. The sides are tasty and presentation in little tray is great. Atmosphere is family friendly and there is a kids menu. It’s really worth the extra walk to avoid all the c***p chain food in town!

Don’t have the squid…. I had really really bad food poisoning after eating it
