What a lucky find. After a chilly morning of riding Snake Pass we caught the scent of fish and chips coming through Crosspool. We followed our noses and ended up at the fish bar, lunch sorted. We ordered small fish and chips and thought that was it, but nope, the free extras kept on coming, beans, sausage, rissol, and so much more. A massive serving of food with the hottest beans I have ever had outside my own kitchen. Cooked to perfection and served with passion and banter. Yup, this will be a regular lunch spot when out and about on the bikes in the Sheffield area, delicious 😋

Llevo más de 10 años comiendo pescado con patatas fritas y no puedo hablar lo suficientemente alto de ello. Es consistentemente excelente, deliciosas patatas fritas. Mi favorito es el eglefino, siempre fresco que también es grande, muy crujiente y suculento. Tienen ofertas realmente increíbles también, y a diferencia de algunos lugares el personal aquí es muy amable y con una sonrisa siempre.

Ordered on uber eats last night. The fish bar is only a 4-5 minute drive however the whole order bar the scampi was stale and stone cold. Ordered a large curry and but only a small pot came. Chips were undercooked, stale and cold. Clearly the rest of the order wasn't hot when it left the chippy as the scampi was still hot despite it being in a little paper bag. *edit : ordered again to give another chance. Manager woman on the phone was argumentative and rude. Would never recommend paying your money to this horrible woman. Ranting and raving on the phone for no reason whilst saying they wanted no trouble. Blaming uber eats when their incompetence clearly means they cannot fulfil orders properly.

Best fish and chips I’ve tried so far 👌🏻 Top , big portions, delicious fish and chips, yummy kebabs too, nice and friendly staff , always with a smile on , food is always freshly cooked, fair prices also. Definitely recommend this place.

Yo soy de Whitby y eso está junto al mar, pero incluso allí, el pescado no es tan agradable como este. No puedo culparlo de que el pescado era delicioso, grandes porciones y un montón de ofertas especiales y variedades. Los precios son muy justos y el personal es amable y agradable e incluso tenían esto escrito / dibujado en la Fish Box , decía gracias en todos los idiomas diferentes y me pareció que era tan encantador y poner una sonrisa en nuestras caras de niños. ¡Spot en chicos!

Llevamos años yendo a esta tienda de fish and chips; era mi favorita pero las últimas 3 veces no ha sido muy buena. El pescado no es tan agradable. Mi amiga también me dijo que estaba muy decepcionada. Recuerdo que en un momento un miembro del personal me dijo que siempre compraba el mejor pescado en el mercado, pero ahora creo que el personal diferente y definitivamente no el mejor pescado. Realmente espero que cambien de nuevo a pescado de alta calidad, mientras tanto a regañadientes van a Crookes.

Lugar increíble, delicioso pescado con papas fritas! Nos mudamos hace unos meses por la zona y sinceramente puedo decir que nunca he tenido mejor pescado y patatas fritas en otro lugar, y debo decir que he probado un montón de lugares , ya que no puedo tener carne , solo pescado , de ahí la razón por la que he probado tantos lugares . . . las patatas fritas siempre son tan sabrosas , me gustan un poco crujientes por lo que el personal siempre las cocina justo como yo quiero , el pescado es la perfección . I don’t know what’s happened, this chip shop used to be lovely. Today everything was dry and just not nice. Chips dry, fish, dry, mushy peas dry. We drive 25 mins to this chip shop, but won’t be anymore, gone so downhill.

Quite a thick batter on the fish - always a bad sign. The lunch deal is huge for £5.50 and the rest was very nice.

Outstanding, chicken kebab not to be missed

The only high point is that it’s not too expensive. Chips were stale and hard in the middle, fish was mushier than the peas and tasteless.

Really disappointed with the food we had this evening. Was told I would wait 8 minutes and it ended up being 20+ mins. Food went in and out of the hot cabinet so many times it was luke warm and steamed by the time we came to eat it. For £25 I expected a lot better food and experience. In future I will avoid.

Always fresh and large portions

Bang average chippy. Staff are lovely and the place is always busy but the food is un inspiring. I fist came here 10 years ago and it was ok nothing more. So after reading reviews on here I decided to give it another go and again I’m disappointed. Where every chip I eat taste of fish (I didn’t order fish) I can name 3 chip shops near here that are way better. It’s average at best which is a shame as it’s my local one. 👎🏼

I discovered this place recently and I was really impressed with the food , had an amazing fish and chips dinner , perfectly cooked fish , big portions and I also had a Kebab Special which was very nice. Staff was friendly and efficient. Top notch 👍

I have been going to this chip shop for ten years now , I have never left dissapointed , the fish and chips is always nice and fresh , big portions , they also do gluten free fish and chips , and my girlfriend is really happy because she can have her favourite meal of the week. Delicious fish and chips, food is always cooked fresh and just the way I like it. Love their Haddock, but I also like the Cod. The staff is really friendly & with a smile on 😊, if you have any request on how you like your food to be cooked the staff will go the extra mile for you, they are always happy to help. Every week for the past 13 years we’ve been coming to this chippy for our fish and chips meal , the fish is always cooked as we like it , the batter is light and golden and the portions are huge. My wife also loves their Gluten Free Fish and Chips which she says is mouthwatering and not greasy at all . My kids love their specials especially the chicken bites one and the kebab special. In all these years they never disappointed , can’t fault them , and the staff is really friendly with their customers and they always have a smile on.

I’ve always had the option that good fish and chips are hard to find in Sheffield. We always drive from S10 to Whitby’s in Catcliffe. Swayed by the positive reviews I thought I’d give this place a try. The service was courteous and efficient and I couldn’t ask for more on that front. I ordered haddock and chips. The chips were plentiful and I can’t fault the portions, but unfortunately the chips were dry and tough, suggesting they had been sat in the warmer for far too long. The fish wasn’t the best either with batter that was soft and not in the slightest bit crispy. They also didn’t fry in beef fat like most proper chippies do. Unfortunately most of my diner went in the bin. I’m mystified by the high praise this place gets. Either people don’t know what good fish and chips taste like or I caught them on an off night. Having said all the above this place is no worse than many of the other well regarded chippies in s10, but as much as I’d love a local chippy it seems this won’t be it.

This is a lovely Chippy, I have been going here for aproximately 15 years, the food is really tasty, big portions, not greasy, the variety of food is quite good , they have all sorts of things including kebabs, chicken curry etc. *They also have all sorts of really good specials. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean , it is a popular place but you never wait too long and is definitely worth it. They have also been doing free deliveries for my Mum , in this tough time , during the pandemic, because she is over the age of 65 and she was shielding in her home , but thanks to them, she did not missed out on her favourite dinner of the week, fish and chips. She told me that the food was always delivered quick and that the fish and chips was always delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.

Ordered take away from here twice and the quality is inconsistent, so I won't be visiting again. First time round: Fresh fish and portion of chips was very generous. Chips were freshly fried (crispy) and we couldn't be happier. Second time round (2 weeks later): Fish was fresh and up to standard. Unfortunately the scampi was overcooked, far too brown and crispy. The chips were soggy, they weren't fresh and had definitely been double fried as they were dark in colour and soggy with oil (not vinegar!). My wife and I are very disappointed as I moved here recently and was hoping to find a local chippy for a take out twice a month. I would only recommend their fish, nothing else.
