A gorgeous little spot on the beach. We came from Durham after reading the reviews. It was so gorgeous! The food was great and the staff were so lovely. The outdoor heaters are a great touch, especially in this weather! Our little puppy got so many compliments and everyone was super friendly! ❤️ thankyou! Can’t wait to return in the summer.

At the end of Tynemouth Longsands below the Grand Hotel is a fantastic coffee shop on the beach with a panoramic sea view. Great stop off after spending some time on the sand.

This is a fantastic place. The location on the beach is brilliant, there’s a really friendly atmosphere and the staff are amazing. I only visit when on holiday in the area but by my third morning my coffee was ready for me before I ordered as they’d seen me walking across the beach, which made me feel very welcome. The coffee is really good and the food is delicious - the scones are superb! Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Saturday There was a long line to get in. There is seating inside and outside. There is a stunning view of the sea. The place is noisy with a lot of people. you stand in line ordering food You take the drink yourself and the food is brought to the table for you. You can have only tea and cake or have a meal.

We are part of a group of veterans who have attended every Wednesday for the last three years. The staff are brilliant and look after us. We enjoy the good food and service. Can't praise them enough

Beautiful spot on the beach but food options aren't anything to write home about. Coffee is pretty poor too.

Used to come to this place a lot over the years this is the first time I have returned in quite a number of years. Not sure if it has changed hands or what, but its just not the same. The food was cold, the muffins which might I add used to be amazing were dry and genuinely difficult to digest. The staff at the front who seemed to be running things just don't seem as friendly. Sad times for a place that used to be really nice

I think stopping a paying customer from using the toilet when the restaurant is still open is poor customer service by Grace, no matter how some random online ‘reviewer’ cuck responds - if it happened, it’s not acceptable. It puts me off visiting again. People should have the right to use a toilet when they need it

Was greeted by a lovely girl called Grace. Polite and extremely helpful. Unfortunately I seen someone giving her a hard time because she wouldnt let the lady use the toilet 15 minutes before closing time. I’m sure the girl was only doing what she was told to do by closing the toilets and cleaning them before the whole place closes. PAYING CUSTOMER or not, she was only doing as she was told. Instead of picking on some young lass, maybe go see the manager who will more than likely let you use the facilities instead of complaining online about a youngin who was only doing what she was told to do. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

Visited today at 4pm and had a poor customer service experience. A member of staff - a girl called grace - was very rude to me. Not what I’d expected as a paying customer by being refused access to the toilet 15 minutes before the cafe closed.

Lovely location and great staff. Simple food done well with an amazing outlook. Also now dog friendly and with an outdoor terrace when weather permits. Highly recommended !

We used to love this place but recently the service and quality went down. We went for breakfast and I understand that you are busy but ladies behind the till had no customer service whatsoever. Also when you pay your bill why do they ask you if you want to leave the tip? For what may I ask : I qued for 10 min, ordered my own food and carry my own coffee to the table!! Also my food came stone cold and tasteless like it was cooked day before. We might passby for a coffee but Crousoes is crossed from our list of places to eat. Do not recommend!!

Amazing location right on the beach with nice coffee and a nice selection of cakes and cookies. The fish and chips is not quite as good as you can get on Front Street. However I ordered a kids cod and chips and was only told after paying that it’s only for under 12s which I find ridiculous

Lovely café, would prefer waitress/waiter service but food was served to the table, lovely lunch (bacon and lentil soup was very tasty). Soup and sandwich offer very good, loved the Coronation Chicken sarnie. Great views overlooking the beach watching the surfers.

Food was nice but despite saying they were dog friendly we had to sit outside and weren’t allowed to go into the restaurant.

We went here a few weeks ago. It was a lovely day and we went to tynemouth. I had to ask for the tables to be cleaned. We sat outside and it wasnt clean and tidy, particularly under the tables. The food was not great. We hate paying for food when it's not up to scratch, particularly as we paid £30 for 2 meals and 2 drinks. I wish we had just had cake as that looked nice.

Came here for the first time, had to queue up at the front to order food, a bit like you would at Spoons. However the food (ciabatta) was rather bland, chips pale and not much potato inside! For the price, there are better meals elsewhere. The tables were not cleaned (salt everywhere) plus I also have to add that the menus were very grubby and could do with sanitising. Just basics that you would expect from an establishment. They do have an ok restroom therefore 2 stars. It is obvious that their location and passing trade is what keeps this place going. I would rather walk the extra distance across Longsands and try The View instead.

Fantastic staff, friendly and hard working. Food was delicous, good value, good portion size and not long to wait. If the scampi is good enough for Robson Greene, it's good enough for me. It was the best i've had.

Shocking and very distressing treatment by staff when I politely asked to use the toilet as they were preparing to close. 2 staff stood in front of me (66 year old woman) absolutely refusing that I should be allowed to go after drinking in there all night. Went back outside to finish my drink and watched other customers were then allowed in. Totally humiliated and distressed and spoilt the evening at your establishment.

Nice Location but rubbish service and food. Ordered porridge with fruit coulis, online it says fresh fruit but I'll accept coulis, and a full breakfast. Main issue is a pot of honey isn't a fruit coulis! Breakfast ok but not great, tomato uncooked, toast not toasted. Porridge came and you could stand a spoon in it, no coulis, was given a plastic tub of honey when I asked I was brought out some jam but told there's no fruit! Take it off the menu or at least tell me and ask if that's ok, girl just shrugged and walked away!

It's a great little cafe on the beach coffee is good food looks great the only issue I had was that a chap moving clean cups put his fingers inside them to pick up , not really hygienic , however we will return hopefully this will be addressed

Great location, quick staff and good service but really let down by the food quality. We'd gone out of our way to sample the muffins but were extremely disappointed. They had a rubbery texture and the mint one (with a rip-off after-eight on top) taste of a horrible artificial mint flavour throughout the muffin. So bad, even our 12 year old left it. And for that to happen, its really bad. If they nail the food, this place will be outstanding.

Go for soft drink and coffee quick snack . English Breakfast are good .

Great atmosphere and spectacular view across the beach.

Myself and my wife had our wedding reception at Crusoe’s on Saturday 27.07.24. It was the perfect evening staff are incredible, nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere of a beachside wedding is amazing and we had the perfect night. Pricing is very reasonable and our DJ Rod was a great entertainer whilst listening to our requests. Cannot recommend highly enough - you will not be disappointed.

Still an absolute gem of a cafe right on the beach down the ramp from the Grand Hotel, the selection of desserts is large as are the cakes themselves. They have two service areas one with one without alcohol, outside seating means the kids can play in the sand while you have a coffee.

We managed to get the one and only seat outside. Ordered sausage sandwich and chips. We had to keep going back as there was no knives and forks brought with the food or sauce or anything. On the plus side the waitress staff were really polite and professional and willing to help whenever you ask them. The atmosphere outside was as always very friendly and relaxed and we even made friends with a lovely spoodle called Barney. Such a sweet pooch. By the way the chips are amazing. Homemade chips and so tasty.

Normally pop in for a coffee or ice cream while at the coast but decided to treat my other half to the fish finger sandwich and chips along with a few drinks. We've always fancied trying it when we visit but it's usually after we have already eaten. Today we went down for lunch and instead of getting the fish fingers in bloomer bread that we have seen in the past we got a fish in two slices of ordinary bread and a few chips. Very disappointed and still hungry afterwards so ended up ordering from the street food section. Tip if you don't have fish fingers tell the customer. I spent £50 plus today and won't be eating here in a hurry again. You let yourselves down today guys.

A lovely place on the beach with beautiful view. There are indoor and outdoor seats. We were there for breakfast English full and Eggs royal - absolutely delicious.

I was in crusoes on saturday 6th of July as I popped in for some chips with a good friend. My waiter was called Ethan, he simply made my day, what a kind, funny gentleman he was. He was so polite and honestly one of the friendliest people I have ever met. I will definitely be returning thanks to his overall kindness, any restaurant would be lucky to have such a great gentleman like Ethan in their team.

I’d honestly give this 0 stars if I could. The bar staff and floor staff are lovely however the way the managers treat their staff is nothing short of abysmal. Owners clearly have no clue how to run a restaurant/cafe and have no idea on staff management. Spent a few hours in there today and spent a fair whack of money only to be told it was inappropriate to be there because my girlfriend worked there. IM A PAYING CUSTOMER. One of the worst places to work in my opinion. Absolutely avoid. Management 1/10 Owners 0/10 absolutely shocking.

Very grateful for Crusoe's being on the beach, however it would be a nicer place to visit if the food & drinks queue was moved away from the entrance door.

Lovely place right on the beach, perfect in the summer,they used to have deck chair on the sand but don't seem to this year so if you want to sit on the sand remember your travel chairs

Called in for a coffee and a bacon sarnie on a rather cool cloudy morning. Fabulous location and view. Staff very helpful, friendly and the sarnie was great.

Avoid at all cost! Location is ideal being the only place offering food and drink, but this is it. I’ll start with customer service being non existent, yes it’s busy and yes it’s non stop for the staff but there’s always more than enough staff members to handle the volume of guests. Manager is the definition of what you don’t want in a hospitality business, ordered my food and said the little one has a peanut allergy to which he replied I’ll ask the kitchen team to do their best with an obnoxious smirk on his face, as he headed to the kitchen he made sure to make a comment about peanuts to one of the other staff members who found that really funny. Food not edible, literally not edible to the point that the dog smelled the sausages and refused to eat them. Again, you expect processed basic food but zero effort put in preparation and presentation. All in all horrible experience, if in this day and age a “manager” does not understand the seriousness of allergies or basic customer service, they are in the wrong place. Regret not walking up the main road where there’s more options. Won’t be back anytime soon

Almost nothing for vegans. The oat milk had coagulated in the coffee - and this turned out to be because the staff weren't shaking the bottle and used boiling hot water. The food in the display fridge looks good and the scones are so big they could feed a family of fifty. However, they have a 'reputation' of looking great but tasting awful. I can't confirm this - as I can't try anything - since barely anything is suitable for vegans. They made everything, including the babyccino, with boiling hot water - just in case you are particular about your coffee (and children) being scalded. The staff were dour and slow. The senior staff came across as rude and appeared irritated when I asked if they could add cold milk to the babyccino. The place looks good and is aesthetically appealing but there is just no substance beneath the surface. It looks like the inside of a pristine wooden ship but it is a bit of a shipwreck when it comes to service. Looks great on the outside and on the inside - with the building directly on the seafront - but the appearance is the only appealing thing.

they need to be careful with their website, we made a trip including a young child to find they were closed despite saying they were open til late literally on the page for "street food"

Very, very disappointed. It was understaffed, leading to long delays in ordering (the place was only about half full when we went on a midweek evening) and it took 20 minutes of queueing to order. Another half hour to get the food. When it arrived, mine was fine and tasted very nice but my partner's chicken was burnt. And I'm not just talking a little bit of brown, this was proper barbecue coal on a stick. I flagged this to a server and she just said "yeah it is" and walked off - didn't need a replacement meal as we didn't have time to wait for one, but an apology would have been nice...due to being hungry we just shared mine and ate her additional chips and left, but we won't be returning.

The food has never been great quality but we have always put up with that for the great location however the service was that bad today we walked out without eating. The older lady behind the till has a terrible attitude problem and rolled her eyes at me when I asked to speak to the manager. The manager was under qualified and didn’t know how to deal with my complaint just blankly staring at me. Have been going for years but has definitely gone down hill. Won’t be back. We went to the castle instead and enjoyed that a ten times more!

This place used to be great now, very poor food poor had to be returned to be heated up need to have lessons in servings food, toilets disgusting ,will never be going back. Only reason atmosphere is three stars is because of other dog owners

Such a shame, this venue is situated right on the beach and has the potential to be something very special. The food is utterly horrific, everything smells and tastes like it’s been deep fried. I ordered a coffee which cost £4.10 and a toasted sausage and egg sandwich. The sausages were cheap and very low quality and clearly deep fried, they were greasy and bland - the egg was so overcooked it tasted like a cross between rubber and plastic and to top it off it was served in some sort of chibatta rather than toast as asked for. I questioned this and was told “that’s how we serve them”. The staff were very surly and clearly loath working for the old lady who was on the till. She was also very unhelpful when I pointed out that the toilets were very dirty and the hand dryer did not work. The restaurant itself is not bad, lacking a bit in atmosphere but I’d predict that that’s down to locals voting with their feet. Very disappointed. My advice, avoid it, it’s overpriced, substandard food, surly staff and tasteless. 1/10 from me.

Its good that its on the beach, you can get a beer but its pretty poor, no atmosphere, its just a room with seats and tables, no vibe... hard to explain but check it out for yourselves. Service was shocking. Cakes are really good, saved it from a 1 star unwhelming review.

Went there for a bacon and blackpudding ciabatta "served all day". "Oh, we don't serve black pudding after 12 o'clock." So, they're "going to take it off the menu". (That'll fix it, then.) It's a great place with lovely food and fantastic sweets. Can't help thinking they are missing a trick, though. They are at the start (or end) of the Coast to Coast (C2C) cycle route and no bike racks?

Great view of the seafront. I ordered a coffee and they charged me extra for oat milk (but the extra charge wasn’t advertised). They put soya milk in my coffee instead without asking which was dangerous as I am allergic. Thank god I was watching. After all that the coffee wasn’t even good. Toilets were dirty

Not sure what’s happened, been a regular visitor since this place opened but not been for about a year, food is now ok (used to be good), children’s fish and chips was good and to be fair value for money, but bacon and sausage sandwiches were ok at best! The venue is not as organised as it once was, there is no clear direction of what your supposed to do before going to the till. menus are too close to till point so you have no time to read them before getting barked at to place your order. Menu board is gone and every one was queuing out the door to order before getting a table so we didn’t have a table number when I got to the till (used to be given sticks with numbers on). I asked what sandwiches they had to which I got an eye role and very sarcastically told to look at the menu, which is chaotic and not clear enough when you don’t have time to read it. In short used to be one of my favourite spots, will forgive the extortionate prices for the location (to be fair children’s menu is value for money). But the serious attitude problem of the lady taking the orders is a problem. As there are now many places to go in tynemouth I will definitely be thinking twice before going again!

Beautiful little coffee place right at the beach. It was really nice to enjoy our Cappuccinos and Latte Macchiatos on the terrace and watching people bodysurf in the freezing sea. Make sure to have a pleasant stroll alpng the beach while at it. The Crusoe’s Tynemouth have a great variety of drinks.

I wish I’d looked at reviews first. Kids meals arrived in less than 5 mins. My son’s chicken nuggets n chips were cold and my daughter chips cold. Her toastie fine. My street food chicken wrap had barely any chicken no taste mango n chilli whatsoever. Disappointing will not return for food.

Weve been a few times as we regularly holiday in the area and it's situated on a fantastic beach. The first couple of visits were great, attentive and efficient service with good food. However it's recently turned slightly chaotic. They offer a cafe with traditional food such as breakfast sandwiches and fish and chips, and a street food offering on the other half. The street food is really good but with so much going on it seems to get the better of the staff, we saw a member of staff walk around aimlessly with our food for a good while, shouting out a number different from the one we gave, even when we asked she told us she would check, but it was quite clearly out order... I don't know if the fairly recent change to allowing dogs on the beach has increased footfall and therefore brought a level of business people are struggling to cope with Ultimately the food is pretty good all around, the vibe has just gone from a nice peaceful beach side cafe with attentive staff to a slightly chaotic place with flustered faces which is a shame

Love this spot for a coffee on the beach but until recently we were sat in the cold with our dogs on a terrace grabbing a drink. Now that they have opened a "dog friendly" area we can pop in, warm up, enjoy a leisurely coffee or two, treat ourselves to breakfast and have a and "doggy sausage". Brilliant idea, the area that dogs are allowed wouldn't normally be accessed by diners as it's at the far end of the restaurant so if you don't like dogs they are well away from you. The food is really good, service is fantastic and well priced too. Thank you!

Came here with a friend after a walk along the beach. Banoffee latte was lovely & we also had some breakfast. Staff were lovey & we really enjoyed the food.

Some people have given this place a poor review because they don't allow dogs inside. I think this is such a positive thing. It was a real pleasure to eat without being surrounded by dogs. The food is always good, nice big portions, great location, cheerful and helpful staff. Well done

Friendly service, but the price is eye watering for very average food.

The venue is ideal & the location is perfect for us to visit post dip. We have used this for a number of weeks & for me is the highlight after being in the water. Generally the staff are lovely however, who is believed to be the manager is rude, sarcastic & generally offensive. She snaps at you if you don’t know exactly what you want immediately & if you don’t know your table number then you are subjected to a completely unnecessary rude response. Such a shame as it is a lovely venue/food. Just a shame that this woman spoils it.
