This is a great place for Sunday lunch. Our roast dinners were superb. Well cooked, generous portions, and tasty and delicious. Lovely surroundings and a very good atmosphere. Very good service from very friendly attentive staff. Fixed price Sunday lunch is excellent value. Wines are not cheap but for a hotel not overly expensive. It is essential to book in advance as it is always busy which says it all. Definitely worth a visit.

Sunday lunch at the Cyan Restaurant in the Grand Hotel is absolutely delicious. Our meals were perfectly cooked with a variety of vegetables served separately, the presentation was lovely. Desserts were delicious too. Our waiter Chris was fabulous with just the right amount of attention. We will be back.

We went for Sunday Roast and our booking was at 6.30pm, we had to wait 5 minutes for our table. The roast was good and the cheese as our dessert selection was small but we did not complain at £25 for 2 courses BUT what i do not like is being told to leave our table at 8.30pm because they want to close and set us a seat in the main lounge. All they had to do was wait 10 more minutes whilst we finished our wine. Your website says Sunday till 9.30pm yet we wert told to leave at 8.30pm to close up and this is in a 5 star hotel...very poor customer service and your management should be shot...What if i was a guest and wanted food at 8.30pm >?

Just had a lovely meal in Cyan with my family for my husband's 60th birthday tonight - thank you for looking after us so well dear Amy, especially as you've not served a big table like ours before! You did an amazing job - I know we made it harder for you with our various dietary requirements and you handled the epic red wine spill so well too! Sean had the most wonderful time, as did we all...thanks again and big shout out to the fab chef who came and introduced himself for the fantastic aubergine veggie option. Kate

We waited an hour for the main courses and eventually asked a waiter. Five minutes later one vegetarian pasta dish and three seafood risottos arrived. The three risottos were sent back as the rice was all but raw and the seafood was undercooked. Amazingly we were offered complimentary desserts but still charged for the rest of the meal. The only conclusion is that the head chef took his/her eye off the ball. Otherwise the brigade would benefit from a refresher course at catering college.

Lovely food, roast dinner- the servers look scruffy and some unclean in the jeans uniform- their counter parts in the afternoon tea and bar look so much smarter and in keeping with a 5 star hotel. Also if they have wounds they shouldn’t be on food service- not nice

This review is somewhat unusual in the sense that I visited this restaurant only for breakfast and was not actually a guest in the hotel. I was attending a conference at the conveniently located Brighton Convention Centre just next door, so this seemed an appropriate place for breakfast. Of course, the hotel does have a reputation for being possibly the 'grandest' venue in Brighton, and still one of the most exclusive. It is famous for having previously hosted kings and prime ministers. It also has the unique distinction of being the first venue in the United Kingdom outside of London to have had a lift installed, when it was first built in 1864. I was looking forward to sampling the breakfast at such a distinguished venue but was disappointed to find that it was essentially a buffet-style set up. I'm sure the hotel has its reasons for implementing this format, whether it is due to logistical or financial considerations, but for the £25 price tag, I would have expected breakfast cooked to order. Hotels of comparable calibre, with similar price tags for breakfast, will not oblige you to make your own toast and coffee. Of course, there is the option to help yourself to unlimited quantities, but seriously, how much can one person eat in a single sitting? It is not an equitable trade off, in my view, not to mention the wastage that inevitably results from this type of setup. As for the food itself, there was certainly plenty of it, and the selection was pretty comprehensive - everything from the usual cereals, fruit and continental style options to the full English options, and most impressive of all, even an omelette station where you can have an omelette cooked to order. I sampled only a small selection of the hot breakfast, and of course the quality plummets when cooked food is kept warm for any length to time. The result is that eggs become overcooked, and hash browns become soggy and chewy. It isn't really convenient to have to get up and visit numerous destinations to get what you want. It becomes merely a functional endeavour, and only serves to interrupt and spoil the enjoyment of the whole experience. What was most baffling to me was the addition of the now ubiquitous 'optional' 12.5% service charge, which strikes me as somewhat cynical when you are having to essentially serve yourself. With the total bill amounting to £28.13, it is actually closer to £30 than £25 - ultimately overpriced and not reflective of either the quality or the 'service'. On the plus side, my host - a young woman called Gaby - was utterly courteous and professional throughout. As a former hospitality manager myself, I will always recognise and appreciate good service.

We went for a mid-week dinner. Service was excellent and fast. There as a fabulous variety of wines and cocktails on the menu. We had the Flatbread and caramelised onion houmous, which was delicious! We also tried the toasted focaccia bread with a selection of whipped butters - an interesting pink butter. Both dishes were excellent however could have done with another piece of focaccia and flatbread for the amount of butter and houmous. For mains we had the vegetarian ravioli, which was fresh and well made, however a bit of a small portion. We also had the sea bass (filleted) along with some onion rings. This was delicious also, and a good sized fish. A shame that any sides or sauces are an additional cost - but we liked how the dish was customisable in that way. For desert we shared the lemon meringue mess, 10/10. Fresh ingredients, a variety of textures and flavours of sweet and sour matched perfectly. Overall, we enjoyed all of the food, found some of the portion sizes could’ve been more! The only thing lacking was the atmosphere, unfortunately there was quite a loud/rude hotel guest sat near us - but the staff dealt with the guest to the best of their ability.

New Years Eve Been here several times before. Arrived at 7pm our party of 4 = £150 each. Looking forward to Champagne Reception. Went to bar = four glasses of Champagne Please. Response with a shrug “it’s all gone”. He said people were waiting to get in at 6.30pm and now it’s all gone. I indicated the offer says “Champagne Reception starting at 6.30pm and Dinner starts at 7.30pm, so 7pm was not an unreasonable time to arrive”. But no, all gone. I ordered some drinks at the chaotic bar and we sat down very incensed. We ate the Starter and Main Course and then left. Maybe it’s a small matter for the hotel but it ruined our night. We went to a bar on the beach .. last time Grand, a sad relic of years gone by.

Recently stayed at The Grand, went into both the bar for evening drinks & the restaurant for their breakfast service. Evening drinks were very pleasant with a chilled atmosphere & friendly staff. The bar itself was also very nice to sit & have a drink. The breakfast service was great with all the food choices you could wish for. Presented nicely & all tasted good, especially considering it was a self service buffet. Staff at breakfast were also brilliant & extremely efficient.

Dinner started off well when we ordered the foccacia bread and oysters with the bread being especially delicious. However, once they took the starter plates away, it took another 30 minutes before the mains came. Once they did come, it was not worth the wait. The salmon and lobster burger was bland and was served with coleslaw which tasted off. However, the fish pie was even worse as it was really watery and served with cabbage which was overly salty. We then decided against dessert as we did not want to wait any longer and the quality of the mains was so poor.

Sunday lunch at Cyan restaurant was recommended to me recently and as all our family including our one year old grandchild were staying with us in Brighton, we decided it was a likely to be a good place to go. All of us loved it. We were placed at an ideal table for the seven of us in the beautiful space that Cyan offers. The staff were professional, welcoming and warm and just great especially with our grand daughter who loved it there. The excellent menu offered favourites for each of us from roast beef to fish to nut roast served with the perfect selection of delicious fresh vegetables all beautifully presented and cooked to perfection and enjoyed with a bottle of excellent Grand Merlot from the Languedoc.. The deserts too were really lovely - sticky toffee pudding went down especially well but so did the other options. We are so pleased we chose The Grand's Cyan Restaurant with the brilliant service, food and atmosphere it offers and though it will sadly be some time before we are all together again, my husband and I will certainly be back perhaps this time for an evening.

We were staying at The Grand and opted to have dinner in as we knew we would have had a busy day. Lovely seats both facing out to the sea view which we really liked. Good service. The menu is reassuringly short and we both felt we could have eaten pretty much all of it. Oysters and smoked salmon, chicken and seafood pasta was all good. We managed a pud and very much enjoyed the wine, again form a nice, relatively short well priced list.

Booked a table for 3 of us for Sunday lunch to celebrate my mum’s birthday & had a lovely time. I’d requested a table outside in the terrace & this was honoured. Drinks order taken quickly & I recommend the mezcal berry cocktail - fabulous! My husband & mum ordered the chicken & I opted for the beef. All 3 arrived piping hot with huge yorkshire puddings & sides of crispy roast potatoes, 2 cauliflower cheese, carrots, cabbage, parsnips & french beans. Desserts were pineapple tarte tatin with coconut sorbet & the cheese board. Both servers we had were very good & a credit to your restaurant & I asked them to increase the service charge to 20% instead. Excellent value for money & we look forward to coming back.

We stay at The Grand but have never ventured into The Cyan before as we are vegans, but I thought after travelling to Brighton let's book inhouse for a change. Well I was very pleasantly surprised, we let the lovely staff know we were vegan and they made it very easy to order, we were served by the lovely young Harry and Tai, absolute credits to The Cyan and the over all Grand experience. The barman made us beautiful mocktails and really listened to what we like. The decor is absolutely beautiful, the restaurant is spotlessly clean, as were all the staff. The food was cooked to order and it was tasty and fresh, extremely well presented with care and was excellent considering this isnt a vegan restaurant. I was very impressed. When we are back in The Grand in November I shall definitely book our first night in The Cyan again. As a vegan I highly recommend

Just had to wait 40 minutes for breakfast and missed our train. I was told that the delay was because they were very busy, which clearly wasn’t true as the place wasn’t full. Our order had obviously got forgotten even though they were overstaffed. I counted 4 people serving about 15 customers. The staff were happily talking about their holidays and dating, and taking cigarette breaks, rather than checking the orders had been processed. The chef even came out for a coffee break and gossip - while we had been waiting 30 mins. In fairness they did apologise profusely and took some items off the bill. The breakfast was ok when it came but certainly not worth the wait.
