I just wanna give 5 stars bc of who was working yesterday! I had a very rough day, I lost my bag during the weekend on a night out and went to Dalston Superstore looking for it as it was the last place I went to on Saturday. They didn’t have it but they were so nice to me and kind ! I really appreciated it. Thank you !!! :)

Aggressive bouncers. Was told we couldn’t enter as it was full- fair enough. We left the queue and started looking on our phone as the side of the road to work out our barings and had a horrible bouncer come up to us and said we couldn’t stand there! I’m sorry but last time I checked it is perfectly legal to stand on the side of the road!

Would give 0 stars if possible purely because the bouncer in green in this photo was extremely hostile and rude for no reason. He told four of us (all girls) that we couldn’t come in and when I asked for a reason he said that he didn’t have to give us one. The other two people working there (one of them pictured on the right) did nothing to defend us. As they gave us absolutely no reason and let people in front of us in, I genuinely believe they were being homophobic and possibly racist as we were not causing any trouble.

I had SUCH a fun night, on a Sunday no less. Vibes were high, great people, the only thing that tainted the experience was the incredibly rude security guard on the way out. My friends and I were patiently waiting for a cab and - as I always am friendly and appreciative of security staff outside venues - was so with the guard outside who refused to say anything and looked at me and my friends like absolute scum. This has no place in an inclusive LGBTQ+ friendly bar, hence why I’m leaving a review. The vibes inside should match the exit.

Used to have nice staff on the door and at the bar. Now smartass says it shuts either 1 or 2. I know it's going to shut at 1 because I can see there's no one inside! I'm a trans person going blind and never had any help from anyone but you want me to pay £5 to get in for 1 drink when there's literally no-one in the place. Then I have to show my ID to get in and the guy spends 5 minutes staring at it like it's a fake id.

Sorry superstores! We’ve been coming to you for years, so I hate leaving a bad review but your security is awful. We decided to not enter, as your rude security with a power complex decided to poke his camera and threaten us for no reason. We go to the Rio and then for a nightcap most weeks and usually feel safe and welcome. Shame as we want to support our queer spaces but having unwelcoming staff has moved us along elsewhere successfully. We feel as a Lesbian couple that this is a big problem and needs addressing as our safe spaces are limited. I guess superstore are either desperate or they do not care how staff greet their customers who already experience these issues in the majority of other places we have to go.

A place where the manager and the security doesn’t care about the safety of the client. I have had a very unpleasant experience in the bar. A random guy stole my drink at the bar, I went straight to the security to address my experience, the staff (security and the manager) allowed the guy to stay at the bar offering me another drink, just few minutes later the same guy came over, touched me with no consent, I had addressed the matter but no action was taken. I’ve decided to leave the place as I was very uncomfortable. Before leaving I had told the security about my decision to leave as I couldn’t stay in a place where stealing and touching with no consent is allowed and the only answer has been “this was the manager decision!” I still can’t believe what happened to me! Seriously! I feel so horrified by such attitude from ppl, and from staff members who should have taken action against this! Horrible! Hope this doesn’t happen to anyone again!

I came by myself quite a long way to the neighborhood to go to this bar around 1am, and the guy in front asked me if I was ‘looking for an lgbt space’. As a visibly queer woman of color who doesn’t enjoy discussing my sexuality with strangers, I found the question to be off-putting and gauche especially coming from a cis white man, but I played along and answered an affirmative ‘sure’. He told me to move along because ‘sure’ was not the answer he was looking for, and when I asked why he was turning me away, he said that the purpose of this venue was to hold space for queer people wanting an lgbt space, and my ‘sure’ was not an acceptable answer. Which is baffling to me. Is every patron supposed to be subjected to being directly confronted about their queerness and what they are looking for? Perhaps it was a cultural difference as ‘sure’ is generally interpreted as ‘yes’ in America. A friend recommended this spot to me because apparently the vibes were supposed to be good, so I’m shocked by how awkward and mildly embarrassing the experience was. The irony is in trying to uphold their bureaucratic standards of ‘safe space for the lgbt community’, I left feeling remarkably unsafe and lowkey triggered. I left quickly and without making a fuss at the door as the venue didn’t seem worth the trouble. I wouldn’t come back here if I could help it

The guy with the clipboard at the door was extremely rude to us for no reason, making up excuses to not let us in…. Before entering the queue I asked one of the security guards if we are allowed to finish our canned drinks while waiting in the queue. She said that we had to drink outside of the queue, I said okay, and then we were also told to step a few feet away from the club, and we immediately did so. A few minutes later we returned to the queue and the clipboard guy did not let us in because apparently my friends and I were “disrespectful”? I told him that we followed the instructions of the security guards, but he lied and said that we were aggressive and didn’t listen???? We were all completely sober and respectful at all times. This is ridiculous, very disappointed 🙁

me and my friends are members of the lgbtqia+ community and weren’t allowed access to the club because some random on the door assumed we were straight… someone on the door aggressively asked us ‘what day is it today?’ and we answered ‘saturday night’ because we thought we were being quizzed to check whether were sober or not. the desired answer was that it’s trans pride, which our group actually knew but the question was asked so aggressively that we were totally thrown off. to be honest it feels so horrendous and upsetting to be an lgbtqia+ person expecting to go on a night out in a safe inclusive space and be rejected because someone on the door thinks youre just a straight person taking up space. defo will not be coming back here, you are not the berghain you think you are lmfao if you want to be an inclusive venue, you’re achieving the opposite.

Door staff need reminding about what their responsibilities actually are... It's not their responsibility to make people do catwalks to decide who is 'cool enough' to enter the queue (see video 1). Instead, it is their responsibility is to provide adequate first aid. That doesn't involve, when someone is collapsed, propping them up in splits with all their weight resting through their neck (see video 2). Glad you managed to sell her every drink you could though... Message for the managers; remind your door staff it is a condition of their SIA licensed status to wear the licence where the front can be seen at all times when engaging in the licensable activity. Equally, employing someone to do those activities who isn't licensed is an equally reportable offence. Shape up because it's being watched.

Really disappointed with the experience here. Tried to get in with as a group of queer people, we were turned away for “fire safety reasons”, even though it was clear the venue could handle more. It felt like they were just using that as an excuse because we didn’t look ‘queer enough’ for them. It’s upsetting and not at all what you’d expect from a place that’s supposed to be welcoming to all queer people. We need spaces that respect and celebrate everyone in the community, not gatekeep based on looks. This isn’t acceptable. We are QUEER.

So many of the bad reviews here I have to question a bit - Superstore is one of my favorite spots in London, and they let in plenty of people who aren't over the top queer. When I've seen them turn away people who really just don't vibe right, they're always very kind about it. As a community, queer people deserve spaces to be free to exist - not objects for others to look at us. To this extent, Superstore has always been a place I've felt very comfy. My friends and I have had two bad nights in the last few months and welfare went over the top to check on us - the first time emailing us, and the second time finding us on the dance floor just to check we were okay. I wish that they had more than vibes to go on, and I understand - especially for newbies to the queer scene - the fear of having to vibe right is hard, but Superstore is _very_ inclusive for queer people, the few times I've seen people turned away, I had seriously bad vibes from them too. I've seen reviews saying they're ageist, but there was a 59 year old there this Friday night and she was _awesome_ and very wanted. She fit the vibe so well; and helped me find myself and my new name. Superstore is small, chaotic, and not a place for everyone by any means. But it's a place for us and our community, and the staff are friendly, kind, and always do their very best for the community. Don't be put off by the other reviews if you're looking to find yourself, and let yourself be free. Come with love, respect, and a desire to let go of everything. Especially on a Friday or Saturday night, the basement really is the basement of dreams.

I queued for over half an hour to be told I was not allowed in despite having had two drinks prior to arriving at the venue and queuing for a very long time to try and meet my friends. I love the space in theory, but last night was not the vibe. £12 cover, yikes it’s less to get into Heaven or pretty much any place in central. Music was initially fine, but very repetitive. Really in your face political too, which is fine as queer spaces are inherently political, but just not everyone’s vibe and worth knowing before going. Just not worth it overall, there are better options all over. I also have to echo comments about rude door staff. The pat down felt more invasive than any I’ve had in London too.

I came here on a Thursday evening expecting to have a couple of drinks in a welcoming friendly bar but instead I was quizzed by the guy on the door who asked: 1) Did I know what event was on tonight; 2) Did I know much about the event that was on; 3) Had I been here before; 4) When had I been here before Having not expected to sit an exam at the door (!), I said I didn’t know to 1) and 2) but that I had been here before a few years ago. He then told me it was only open to ‘friends and family’ - whatever on earth that means - and suggested I go to another bar instead. I told him that I didn’t see anything on their website about this apparent ‘friends and family’ restriction and suggested that he wasn’t letting me in because he probably didn’t he like the look of me. So there you have it, if you’re a tourist or from out of town, or new to the scene, best not to come as that probably doesn’t qualify you as ‘friends and family’ and therefore denied entry.

"I was feeling excited and decided to check out this place online, only to find it was open. Excitedly, I went there with a friend at 7 pm to enjoy some delightful treats 🍯. However, upon arrival, we were informed that it had been booked for a private party until 9 pm, and we were required to pay for entry 😪. It was quite disheartening to see such disorganization. It would have been helpful if they had clarified this information on Google or their website beforehand, so we wouldn't have been caught off guard 🤯. I cannot say I recommend this place after this experience."

Was recommended to go here by a londoner I met at E1 while I was seeing chippy nonstop. Came on a tuesday with my girlfriend. Bartender was fashionable and fab and very nice in a chic way. Yummy aperol spritz. Funny advertisement-like photography on walls. Will be coming back.

Dalston superstore is the queer haven of London, any night you go you'll be welcome and feel at home, music is always on point

as all those other reviews already say: staff is extremely rude and entitled. not even in berlin they have to act so pretentious. very disappointing and not inclusive at all.

We were touristing London and found the bar online. The bar has a really nice atmosphere and super friendly staff! But of course it was the two queens that hosted the drag show (free booking!) who stole the show. It's a truly remarkable bar, a safe space for all lgbtq, and we felt really welcome. Best moments: when Karma climbed the "stage" and the beginning of Inga Rock's singing career:-)

We went for the Drag brunch and it was really fun! The avocado toast was surprisingly good and truly enjoyed their Mezcal Margarita too.

I came here with a couple of friends, at the door a member of staff stopped us informing us that they were the “vibe checker”. They were immediately condescending in tone whilst asking questions such as “had we been there before” etc. They then asked if we knew what the night was that night, which we didn’t, and they said “well it’s a Latinx event and you would know that if you’d bothered to research”. We were a little shocked by the rudeness of the remark and the expectation that you would have to research before simply going to enjoy yourself on a queer night out (an expectation that would never be assumed of cis-het people in cis-het spaces). They then asked for a bit more information about us, so I said “well we are all queer if that’s what you’re asking” to which they replied “fine I’ll take a leap of faith and let you in”. Queer spaces are far and few between and sacred, there are not many places in this world that we can express ourselves freely so to have what we anticipated to be an open and welcoming evening be transformed by this queer gatekeeping was saddening to say the least. We walked into this space feeling anything but welcomed and deeply uncomfortable. We also noticed there were virtually no Latinx people and nothing about this event that went out of its way to celebrate any part of Latinx culture, so this all felt entirely performative. If you want to create a space for Latinx queer folk to be able to commune together, then you need to actually reach out to the Latinx community etc. In all we found this space to fetishise a preconceived notion of ‘queer aesthetic’ rather than being a supportive and inclusive space for real, human queer folk.

Horrid security, do avoid. I was trying to enter with previously bought tickets and wasn't let it. The reason? One of the girls from the group (loosely put, she was just there for a meet up predrinks, not someone I know at all) had some substances on her that I didn't know about and had no intention of consuming. I politely asked the security member for a refund for my ticket, offered them my bag to confirm that I had nothing on me and the male security guard very rudely informed me that I will be deported because drugs are illegal in the UK (just because I don't speak in English accent). Manager was much nicer, but I had to insist to speak to them for solid 15 minutes. Let's see whether they end up refunding me.

A sick and sexy atmosphere at 12 in the afternoon ;) the staff and queen were lovely and tried to get to know all at a personal level and not be robots. The staff was honest with wait times but the food was worth it. The performance was not as frequent with half hour breaks between, so in an hour and a half sitting we heard 3 songs, but again, with no reservation charge and good food, it was fab.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. Avoid at all costs! The staff discriminates people based on the skin colour. Some of the staff is so rude and aggressive as if they recently came out from the jungle or zoo.

Rudest place and unfriendliest staff ever in London (black woman at the door profiling people based on their appearance, with a clear intention to discriminate). Please be careful for your own safety. DO NOT GO HERE if you don't want to have an unpleasant experience.

Sadly this iconic pub did nothing but disappoint. Our evening started badly as the table we’d booked outside in the garden on a balmy Indian summer evening was filthy: engrained dirt and sticky. Unfortunately none of the staff felt like doing anything about it but kindly provided me with some spray and blue paper roll so I could attempt clean it myself. In fact, the staff were signally disinterested in anything very much and clearly had not graduated from charm school or, perhaps, were just hating every second of their job. Our food was dumped in front of us by an equally charmless waitress and napkins turned out to be none existent. Our request for another light on the table so we could see what we were eating was met with a blunt, one syllable response. Another water wsaid he would see what he could do, failed to reappear. Regardless, we enjoyed each other’s company, however we declined to pay the pre-added service charge on the grounds that this was something we had not received.

We pre-booked a large group table for a 40th birthday and upon arrival were told they had completely run out of the veggie/vegan option, had run out of the sides and also the mulled cider. We had called twice in advance to check there would be options for veggies as the girl who’s birthday it was is a veggie and she couldn’t even eat a proper dinner on her special day. The veggies in our group were offered a bland plate of vegetables and potatoes. Our group ended up being split with those who could eat and those who couldn’t so we had to leave early to get food elsewhere. Terrible service and planning from the pub / staff. The food we did have was average at best. Wrote a complaint email and got fobbed off with some rubbish excuse about food waste and that we didn’t state exactly how many veggies there would be at the start. Bearing in mind we booked in advance and called twice beforehand to ask about veggie options this is is irrelevant as we were never asked for a pre-order nor did any of the staff suggest this or warn us they may run out. Overall, would not recommend, there are hundreds of excellent pubs in London - this is not one of them.

My daughter had her 12th birthday party in the karaoke den and it was wonderful! I wasn't sure they'd allow a kid's party but they were fine as it was early. The karaoke den is a great sound-proofed room with a big screen and two microphones. The were only 12 in my party but the room can hold up to 20, I imagine it would get quite hot and stuffy in there though. We had a the room booked for four hours (long!) with food served on the floor below. Throughly recommend the korean chicken wings! The person that made the party run smoothly was a lovely and super efficient lady called Alex. She was on hand straight away to talk the girls through using the system, she organised the drink and food for us and was always available to answer questions and nothing was too much bother, so thank you very much Alex! Would definitely go again, but with my mates next time!
