Really great food in a gorgeous setting. The 4 of us enjoyed a lovely evening here. Our server Nada was super helpful explaining everything and helping us with excellent choices. Highly recommended.

Wonderful food and atmosphere , especially the shawarma’s. My waitress Nada was super lovely who provided an excellent service, ensuring I was satisfied with everything.

We had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful place last Friday, and it truly captivated us. It evoked the warmth and charm of the beautiful evenings in Amman. To top it off, we brought our baby with us, and the staff went above and beyond, adapting the menu to suit his needs—an exceptional touch. Without a doubt, this has now become our favorite spot, and we can’t wait to return. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was flawless, and the staff was truly remarkable. We’re already looking forward to coming back next week! ❤️

The food was excellent the staff were pleasant and welcoming I ordered Chicken Shawrma it was delicious and very reasonably priced for a city eatery. The coffee was really hot ( perfect for me ) A very enjoyable experience

Amazing middle Eastern food ,fantastic staff ,wonderful flavours and staff are friendly and always there to guide you .Nada was brilliant, greeted us at door and walked us through the menu .with her help what we chose was about right to share and everything was fantastic, full of flavours and just so morish. Where to start ,after seeing "Here and Now "at Alexandra theatre we wanted to try Damascena .What a wonderful experience, great staff ,lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. Greetedby Nada ,we had to wait approximately 20 mins but worth it .you can only book table of 4 or more. Do not expect fast food ,all cooked to order but it's worth it. Nada was brilliant, a lovely young lady helped explain and helped us enjoy and emerse in the experience. The choices we made with her help were full of flavour, The lamb dish (Tahini Kofta )wabaked with flatbread on it ,drizzle of honey, amazing. Chicken Shawarma wrap wonderful, Fattuush salad served in a crisp pastry bowl,citrus ,pomegranate molasses was divine and Kibbeh Makliya ,a bulgar wheat and lamb croquettes was brilliant all served with dips . A truly fantastic experience of middle Eastern flavours with peach tea an raspberry heaven smoothie Polished off an enjoyable evening. Thank you to staff . .we will be back

Returning customer here at this branch, it was lovely as always and the food was really nice. there’s a range of vegetarian options which is nice to see. the decor and the aesthetic is pretty but maybe the seating areas in the centre is a little cramped - we asked to move and we’re accommodated which was appreciated :) Our server was Hamza - super kind and helpful. good customer service.

I came in to buy some baklava to take away on a Thursday afternoon. I was served by a grumpy older woman with blondish hair, who was quite rude. I placed my order which I paid for, then expected her to serve me after she printed the ticket. However after she printed the ticket she put it on the counter and walked away towards the back of the restaurant without coming back. I could see they were busy so waited for her to return and serve me. After a while when she reappeared she saw me still waiting to be served and greeted a group of ladies who were waiting for a table. She made eye contact with me then took those ladies to a table at the back. I could only see one other young woman who was rushed off her feet. She acknowledged me and said she'd be right with me. She served me after she finished what she was doing and apologised to me for the wait. She was polite to me. The baklava itself wasn't that nice compared to other branches I've been to, very dry and stale. I had to throw them away the next day. I won't be returning to that branch as the service was terrible due to the older woman. Such a shame really as I've always loved the food and service there.

Once a wonderful experience, now a shadow of its former self. Service by the guy at the counter was utterly dismissive bordering on the rude, as though customers are an annoyance. Food ok, not as good as it once was. The Baba Ganoush was really poor.

Hannah was an extremely friendly and polite server! She made sure our dietary requirements were met and brought the food quickly. Portion sizes were great for the price and the atmosphere was quite calming.

I'm sad that I live so far away and I'm annoyed we only found this on our last morning in Birmingham!! The food in this place is amazing, the staff were lovely (we got served by Hussein and Nada), incredible value and such a nice atmosphere in the room. We had very generous portions. Would highly recommend!

We visit Damascena pretty much every time we come to Birmingham and it’s always amazing. The food is always fresh and delicious, the service is friendly, and the decor is gorgeous. We were served by Nada on this visit and she was attentive, welcoming, and suggested menu items for us alongside making us aware of deals that we could use. Definitely worth the visit! Please bring back the date and tahini dip, that was my fave (will still come back even if you don’t🤣)

My husband and I visited this restaurant for lunch while we were in town from London, and we were truly impressed! Despite long queues, we were warmly welcomed, and the service was fantastic. Huge shoutout to Nada and Hussein, who went above and beyond to make sure our experience was comfortable and enjoyable. The food was incredible—the lamb shawarma with batata harra was sublime and I can’t stop thinking about the Calm Tonic juice I had. It was the perfect refreshing drink! We’re already looking forward to coming back next time we’re in the area :)

First time visiting this restaurant and we ordered about 5 different dishes- all were absolutely delicious and of top quality. We had an exceptional dining experience, thanks to the incredible service from Hanna and Mustafa! My sister and I stopped in for dinner after a long day of shopping with two small babies in tow, and despite the restaurant being very busy, Hanna and Mustafa went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Mustafa’s recommendations were spot on—the food was delicious, and every dish exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be returning to this location. Highly recommend!

We had the ftoor. ‘Crunchy salads’ turned out to be a few slices of cucumber and half a tomato (I did check this); we were missing one type of cheese and there were 3 small pieces of bread to be shared between 2 people. We asked for more bread as the food was served and it arrived as all the food was finished (again, I tried to note but no one reacted). Nice surroundings but the food felt pretty tight fisted. Maybe we chose badly.

I recently visited Damascena in Birmingham, and the experience was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a warm and vibrant atmosphere. Unfortunately after myself and my friend visited this cafe on Friday, we ended up with terrible food poisoning. I was reluctant to leave a review and so opted to call the cafe earlier today to inform them of our concerns, which was also advised from the GP due to our symptoms. When I called up and informed the lady I spoke to, she was very hostile on the phone and kept repeating that she had served 180 dishes of the chicken arabiya which is what we had both ordered. Not once did she provide any sympathy or empathy and instead blamed something else we had ate. I repeatedly informed her that I wasn’t complaining and was simply informing as instructed by the Dr. Instead she deemed it impossible repeatedly saying the same statement. My friend and I both met in birmingham, both living in different cities to one another so this is the only meal we shared and only after talking a day after did we both realise the same pain and sickness we were experiencing. I think the way an establishment responds to a customer speaks volumes of their care for customers and it concerns me that they did not seem concerned or want to believe what was being said. I often come here to have a meal and today I dined in with my sister and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with every detail perfectly thought out. The food was absolutely delicious. What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was our waiter, Mohamed. He was attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely friendly .I’ll definitely be returning for another great meal!

Amazing food and amazing service. The waitress was very polite and attentive. Food was fresh and came quickly. I had the avocado toast with a medium-cooked egg along with a black tea and later ordered a Turkish coffee too. My coffee was served in a traditional authentic Turkish cup with a Turkish delight. Been coming here for a while now, and they never disappoint. Prices are very reasonable; I'd 100% recommend Damascena in Birmingham.

Great day out with my relatives. The drinks, as always, were wonderful and the atmosphere was like nothing you can get from anywhere else. We sat outside and the nice weather added to the experience. Damascena is one of my favorite places in Birmingham. The atmosphere was lovely with dim lighting and arabic and turkish background music. I had Arabian coffee in a dallah, along with mixed mezze and flatbread that were great and beautifully presented. Mohammad served us, and he was attentive and professional. What was particularly nice was that he welcomed us in Turkish, which made this place unique once again. The staff do a fabulous job because it's busy all day and everyday on the weekends! I would recommend a visit and we will certainly be visiting again!

I recently dined at damascena and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was inviting, with a warm and cozy ambiance that made us feel instantly welcome. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and everything was delicious—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The presentation was stunning, and you can tell a lot of care goes into each dish. I have visited Damascena several times and two members staff in particular have been warm and welcoming Demi who smiled and gave great advise on food choices and suggested the falafel wrap which was delicious and lead to me ordering again - very personable and friendly Marcia greeted me on a few occasions and is always pleasant, friendly and makes me feel welcomed and checks if everything is ok

The food is amazing but bear in my mind as this place is in the city centre its always very busy here and though staff work really hard to keep up the speed there is always a queue. Most popular place for a quick coffee or proper Middle Eastern cuisine

7th Oct- Food was amazing as usual but the service let you down. I am sorry I have to leave a review like this but I want management to improve on this please. I don't understand why the city centre branch, possibly the bussiest is always short staffed. The lady on drinks/ till looked annoyed through each interaction we had, she kept on walking off mid conversation- I didn't understand. It was just mismanaged and no communication between staff.

I usually really enjoy my experience here however on this occassion I felt very let down. My usual branch is in Jewellery Quarter however I attended the city centre one with a group of friends and expected it to be better managed as it is a busier branch however the woman who served us initially was very rude. No customer service skills whatsoever, rolling her eyes whenever we asked a question and walking off without saying a word. I understand the pressures of working in a customer facing environment however this needs to be addressed.

Went 2 days ago over there ordered my meal got the meal did even start it went to the toilet and when I came back the and drink was gone very disappointed!!!!!
