Dan's Fish Bar in Rushmoor

Disaster.!! This is situated along a strip of 3 takeaways 5 mins from my house and use the others weekly. Avoided the chip chip due to past experiences but thought “I’ll give it a go” 10 min wait for fish which I thought was great (freshly cooked) crispy one end, soggy the other and dry in the middle and all I tasted was grease. Chicken gravy was bisto in a 8oz tub for £1.60. Now… buttered bread roll WOW I got a seeded Berger bun x2 for £3.60 with no butter (was expecting a sunflower spread at Least. Didn’t order but noticed £4.80 for chips and £6.00 for cheesy, £2.20 for cheese 🤔. Dans fish bar and north camp fish bar best in the area please take my advice here this place is a catastrophe

Probably the best fish & chip shop in the area, although it must be said that their fish isn't always the freshest. Never actually stale, but has been close a couple of times. That said, the fish is usually perfectly good. Chips are also the best in the area. A good quantity of large square and long chips (rather than what the chippies wouldn't have previously sold). Overall, they aren't perfect, but you won't find better in the Farnborough area. I use them regularly.

Love the fish and chips, but delivery 20 minutes past schedule and barely warm. You have to heat it up…defeats the object of takeaway really. They really need to ditch the chain delivey companies and get a couple of local drivers….they charge enough for delivery.

Good fish and chips from here, cooked to order and reasonable value. Small cod, chips and mushy peas cost £9.65. Generous serving sizes for the price with a decent sized piece of cod and plenty of chips. Well cooked fish with a nice crunchy batter. Although the chips look very pale they had a nice crisp texture and were not at all greasy - cooked a little longer / double cooked to get a bit more colour and they would be perfect. Good to see no plastic used here - the food was packed in a cardboard tray and a paper bag so didn’t go soggy at all on the drive home.

Very good fish and chips. cooked fresh per order, so call ahead. Very nice owners are on site and they cook! Very best chip shop in Farnborough! Must try this place!

This is a large cod? No fish in one end! What's happened recently? Not very happy. Never had this problem before. Have Dan's been taken over? chios are okay but again large is more like standard size anywhere else.

Dans fishbar are amazing!!! Food is always hot and very generous with portion sizes!! We do not go to any other fish/chip shop 😁 drivers that deliver are always friendly and polite. Owned by the son of the lemon plaice so nice to know standards are still in place!!

Food is always delivered hot and fresh. Always tastes amazing. Never a problem having lived in Farnbough then moving to Ash Vale, the food delivered is always enjoyable and satisfying. Only quibble to drop a star if your saying delivering in an about hour don’t show up in 25 minutes. May seem trivial but when you arrive in from a long day at work order your food and plan for an hour (which your happy with for great food) shows up too early throws your out of whack or your still in the shower cause you think you have time on your side. All in all food never disappointed!

Fed up of cooking since lockdown, so decided to try Dan’s Fish Bar for the first time. Well it won’t be the last. Delivered on time, hot and delicious. The cod was especially tasty. Thank you.

Brilliant place ... much better than the moody one down the road near Tesco... I was actually going all the way to fleet for our fish & Chips but I know now I can go to dans... staff and friendly... portions are great and the food is delicious ! 5/5... very friendly management too... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fancied some fish and chips last Friday (10th Jan), only ever get one portion and share with my wife as we are not big portion eaters. I was really disappointed with the large cod it used to be much bigger and also I cant say for sure but it just did not seen fresh considering they say all if freshly cooked to order. The fish seemed really dry and parts of it tasted stale. The chips were ok. We used to go to Dan's quite a lot in the past but we have also noticed a huge drop in quality, portion size and become over priced. Dont think I'll be heading back now will drive 2 minutes further and go to Frimley. Sorry Dan's but since you opened up on Farnborough high street you've seriously neglected an already falling service at this shop and it really shows. Another update: Thought I would we would give them another chance. It was a bit of a mistake really. Firstly, the order was mucked up. Two jumbo sausages were missed off. The chips were under cooked and were cold. I don’t know what was wrong with the fish, but it didn’t taste like cod normally does.

Food is good generally but it's closed most lunchtimes and closes at 9 in the evening! Why isn't it open during most lunchtimes and close later?

Whenever I visit I order the plaice. They always cook it fresh while I wait and it never disappoints. A lovely treat!

My family and I have been customers of Dan's for quite a few years now. Unfortunately the food and the service standards seem to be dropping.Like with other reviews, there have been quite a few occasions with recent orders, where the received order has been wrong. Previously we've been getting a small or regular portion of chips instead of large, or the bottle of drink had been left off the order or not delivered. Remembering back, not counting the last order, the previous 4 were wrong. Before, if you ordered earlier in the week, you would end up with under cooked chips, but from a Thursday and over a weekend they were well cooked. Our last time, it could be argued that the chips had only just been introduced to the oil, but not for very long. You could taste the raw potato. The prices as well are very high for the quality or your order. Harry Ramsden's prices for poor quality. We have tried to give Dan's a chance to get better, but enough is enough.

Ordered at half 5pm, food came at 7.10pm. Disgusting telephonist who sounded just as gormless as you could get, saying my order would be 5 minutes away even though she didn’t know my order/address for delivery. Got passed through to a man who said that his manager would call me regarding discount.. phone call never came. Food was clearly leftovers from lunchtime. Steer clear for deliveries. Food can be great but the service is just so poor. Once a frequent customer but will now be changing, and the staff could not care less about this - even the manager

Had food from here quite a while ago and as I suspected just as bad as first time. Decided to have battered sausage and chips as the cod was too thin and pointless but sausages weren't really crispy and their chips are always anaemic looking and absolutely tasteless. What oil do they use? Shame our usual fish and chips round the corner in Fernhill road away!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I have been using this around 1 - 2 times a month now for 2-3 months and the food has remained good and tasty.

I ordered a delivery from Dan's last night and after an hour I phoned to ask when it would be delivered and was told it was on it's way. It arrived 10 mins later and was cold, when I phoned to complain I was told to mention it when I go in there again, I told them my husband and I also have delivery but they were not really interested, One other thing is when I phoned you could hear what was being said about my complaint. Never mind I will not use this chippy again.

Went to Dan's fishbar for my dinner and had heard good reviews about the fishbar, but I don't know how!! The food was awful, the chips were cold, powdery and dry the only good thing was the amount we got given. The saveloy was grey around the edge and pink in the middle, this was also crumbly in the mouth that I had to spit it out after one bite. Honestly the only word I can use is grim.

Dan's Fish Bar never lets us down. It's always fresh, the chips are never greasy and the fish is always well cooked with crispy batter. The portions are generous. Their website is easy to use and the delivery always arrives on time or early.

This fish and chip shop do very good fish and chips. The fish has a very nice flavour and so does the chips. The delivery is good because it doesn't take too long. Yeah it's a good fish and chip shop. I really love their food.

This place does good fish and chips. We are regulars here. They even do grilled fish, which helps a great deal if you're 'trying' to diet...

Just had Fish n Chips delivered from Dan's Fish and it was brilliant. Large portion sizes, still very warm. Very tasty.

Good portion size which is cooked to order...and £6 for a small cod and chips is more than enough to act as a meal. Good quality overall. Would go back.

Fast, efficient, super fresh fish and real spud chips! Big portions. Good price. We just phone the order over and they have it ready for us by the time we get there.

Ordered fish and chips for 6 of us as a takeaway, food arrived on time and was hot, everyone enjoyed their food, the fish was cooked lovely and the batter was not thick or dripping with fat but still crispy, chips were big and tasty too, would definitely order from them again.

After my last review, which was my first order from Dan's I was persuaded to give them a second chance and try them again. What can I say - the first time must have been an oddity as I've since ordered twice more and each time it has been delivered on time, with a complete order and the food has all tasted good. Even my young children (and we all know how fussy children can be) finished their meals happily.After a false start I can heartily recommend Dan's and I'm happily ordering from them again.

Farnborough was a stopover on our trip to Cornwall and Devon. On our trips back to visit family we always want a proper fish and chip fix!!! Dan's did not disappoint - the fish was lovely, thick cod, nice and crispy with a huge bag of chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. My mouth is still watering for more! Wish we had Dan back at home!

Dans Fish Bar serves lovely fish and chips. There is a great choice of food on the menu. We have had home delivery from them and the food always arrives in good time and lovely and hot.The staff in the store are always friendly and welcoming.The food is very tasty and plentiful.

Always ordering from Dan's used to be more in store but now getting more deliveries. Food always cooked as ordered and never had any mistakes. Always been very happy. Prices are good and the staff have always been fantastic.

The food is good and we have been going here since it opened but it has been going downhill for months now.If you want an accurate and good delivery. Go somewhere else they are atrocious our last 3 deliveries have have been wrong. Today's one still hadn't arrived after 70 minutes I called and was told he was 5-10 minutes away. ( aren't they always ) 10 minutes later they called to say they messed it up and they were sending it again, In 30 minutes.If you can manage to get parked go yourself they are incapable of doing deliveries correctly.

Harry Ramsden could learn a thing or two from these guys. Very friendly staff and by far the best fish n chips we've ever tasted. The fish is cooked fresh, so tastes far better than something that's been sitting on a burner for 30 mins. The fish is also served in vented boxes rather than wrapped in paper, so you still have crisp batter when you get home, rather than the soggy mess of traditional chippies.Outstanding food - visit every week. Definitely worth a try.

Stopped in here on the way home. Ordered Savoloy, Fish Cake and Chips.Just walked in the door opened the bag, I had two battered sausages and some chips that where almost white there that undercooked. Not to mention the 20 minute wait in store.If your looking to try this for the first time, don't. Avoid it.

Arguably the best fish and chip shop in the area. Good value for money. Clean and well run. One little niggle - chip portions are far to big - I always ask for one scoop, otherwise, you will end up with 2.5 scoops.

this used to be a good place to visit for fish and chips but it seems they have got a bit complacent and I have made the decision to buy my meals elsewhere in the future.

This is unusual for a chippy in that they cook to order. This means you may have to wait a few minutes, but your dinner will be as fresh as possible. They even serve it in boxes so you save on washing up! The large cod is absolutely huge, so big was the one I ordered that it had to be folded in half and be put in it's own box - getting on for 15 inches I'd estimate!

Long time customer of Dans. Service is always very good and Dan and his staff make a real effort to be friendly and helpful. Chips are lovely and not greasy like some places. Fish is always very good and the Fish Bites snack box is particularly good value! Portion sizes are very generous and have recommended to many friends who live in the area and they all now go here!

My local fish and chip shop and I won't go there. Chips not great, fish average very long wait and I mean VERY... Buttered roll is a burger bun with a lump of Marge in the middle (stale). If in area go to marts 5 mins drive can't fault it .

Food is great, cant fault it. Only problem is when a order it for delievery they always get it wrong and its not the first time. I oder a lot because im a fatty 8 out of 10 times the order will be wrong and the mean reason is the lack of English spoken/understanding.

This was the third time we had been to Dan's Fish Bar and had to wait 30 mins which was so disappointing because we thought we had finally found the best fish and chip shop. To be fair the food is really good and when we have rung and ordered the last 2 times it has been ready.BUT even more annoying than having to wait 30 mins was the attitude to our complaints about having to wait.All we got was a pathetic sorry which was not at all meant just a token sorry which really meant we aren't at all and we can't wait for you to leave. . TIP: If you want to keep customers and want your customers to tell others you are great then you need to compensate them for keeping them waiting. A voucher off your next order or money off at the time would keep your customers coming back.SO definitely not a place for quick food which I thought was the point of fish and chip shops.Good businesses always think of their customers first and go out of their way to send them away happy and keen to pass on how pleased they are. Dan whoever you are you, need to think about customer care and how to promote your business because you certainly didn't today.

Really great chips, but you sometimes have to wait a while, as they cook them from fresh. Stopped using them as my son who is a Coeliac reacted to the chips, maybe some contamination in the oil.

Regularly use Dan's Fish Bar, the staff are great, it's very clean, they offer delivery. The portions are huge and great value, and the chips and fish are by far the best quality in Farnborough, only criticism is wish they were open at lunchtime.

I waited 1hr 10 mins for my delivery. I had called up to chase at 50 mins, then 2 mins later a call back to confirm my address. When it finally arrived it was stone cold so I had to re-heat it defeating the object of ordering take away! Will never use again.

Huge portions, the large cod and chips we usually share between 2 or 3 people. The price is very reasonable too. The other items on the menu are of excellent flavour and quality. I like that I can phone ahead my order and it's ready for when I pick up. Everything is cooked fresh to order. Clean shop and friendly staff.
