We did a wine and cheese tasting with Charlie - it was brilliant! Very informative, generous with both cheese and wine and a great way to spend a Friday evening with friends. Would highly recommend. We will definitely back to try the food menu, and stock up on cheese from the shop!

We were looked after by Chlo last Friday at the Liquor Loft and we had a great experience! She was very knowledgable about the wine and cheese options on the menu and everything we tried was delicious. Will visit again soon!

The food was fantastic, 4 of us had 2 of the sharing platters for starters & then individual cheese fondues with steak… everything was delicious paired with great Australian wine from McLaren Vale. Staff were super friendly & helpful which created a lovely ambience. Will definitely return.

Cheese Pub I am doing Cambridge pub reviews therefore entered this pub. And attracted by the cheese fondue on the menu. I have been to this pub twice, The 1st was for the cheese fondue, the 2nd was Sunday roast and burger. It's a relatively expensive pub, but you will get what you pay for. Everything was in generous portions. The cheese fondue was special and lovely. I would recommend ordering an extra steak for the fondue. The steak tasted really better than its price. While the Sunday roast and burger were in large portions, not as crazily large as the Cambridge the Chop House but large enough. The burger was the largest among all of the Cambridge pubs, with good burger sauce and cheese inside. The fries were hot. But I thought the beef of the Sunday Roast tasted weird and dry. I think the steak in the cheese fondue tasted much better. The dessert was in generous size. Hot brownie with ice cream. And the ice cream was not melting when it was delivered to our table. There's an issue with the tables and seats. They were not very clean compared to other Cambridge pubs. I suggest you prepare some tissues to wipe clean, or bring a tote bag to cover the seats. The staff was nice, she was working hard to remember the customers and their needs. I think the cheese menu makes this pub special.

Food was quite good. Service was very haphazard. There was a very long wait between courses. Our waitress just disappeared towards the end of the meal, so we had to ask another waiter to clear the table and the bill, but he was very friendly andf polite. It was a bitterly cold night and when the door opened, frequently, it gave us a blast of cold air. We were next to the roaring fire, but this kept going out and was insufficient to keep us warm.

Good to have something a bit different, worth seeking out away from the main bustle of Cambridge centre, will be back!

The tartiflette was very tasty but unfortunately the steak was tough.

3 course tasting menu is well worth it. The goats cheese brûlée starter and fondue are excellent.

Delicious meal at D’Arrys. Three of us enjoyed the cheese fondue and another had the steak. The peach and plum crumble was a generous size and even came with custard which I rarely see on menus now! Good service. We’ll be back!

I am afraid I have to say the food was not good. Absolutely tasteless, we were so disappointed. We took a friend there for his birthday and none of us could barely eat our food. The fondue was tasteless, the steaks were tough. Loads of starters not available. I know it was Boxing Day, but if you couldn’t provide the right food, maybe you shouldn’t have opened! We did not complain…. Which we now regret, as I didn’t want to make a fuss on our friends birthday. We just hoped that all the food being returned would have spoken volumes. A shame, because we have had good food there before. This has put us off coming back now.

My husband and I had a lovely experience of raclette which was my first time. Really good wine options and generous food servings too. We had friendly gentleman servers who were patient with us considering it was Christmas Eve. Thank you…

Can’t fault the food, it was delicious. Service was awful, we went there early Saturday 23rd Nov night for our anniversary meal. It was very quiet, only 3-4 tables in. Service was very slow, we had finished our starter and it took the staff a minimum of 20-30 minutes to actually realise and come and clear our table. They stood around chatting behind us (3 members of staff including what looked like the manager), not checking on tables, twice going outside on their phones and to vape in clear view of us. By the time we had our mains it had been 1hr 30 mins since we sat down at our table. In this time, we had a jug of water and a soup! It was very disappointing, especially coming from someone who works in a restaurant and wanted a nice Saturday night off with good food! I feel sorry for the chefs, their food was delicious, the lasagne and fondue was mouth watering, however we will not be returning simply due to the FOH staff. Changed to 1 star after two emails being ignored when trying to contact them after our meal.

We had an amazing Xmas lunch with the colleagues, The food, price, service, decor...everything was spot on. I also needed to add a person to the booking after the registration closed and a simple phone call resolved it. The only feedback I'd give is that when staff passes burning tea pots to the guests, they should avoid doing it above someone's head. My colleague got scared and I burned my fingers. We also appreciated to see future events organised in the restaurant and quite a few people got interested. Well done for inspiring us. Finally, thank you for lovely Xmas hats!

Came here last week to celebrate an anniversary - at d'Arry's, it was the perfect night. We opted for the 3-course cheese tasting menu. The goat's cheese brulee was delicate, the caramel was a unique touch and not too sweet, and the Sauvignon Blanc was a delicious pairing. All the components of the fondue were great, including one of the best steaks I've ever tried, but the broccoli was a tad bland and overdone. The cheesecake was a nice tie to the cheese theme, although it did not blow me away - lots and lots of desiccated coconut, and was more of a sweet blob than a cheesecake. That being said, the cheeseboard had a fantastic selection of high quality cheeses. The service was also perfect, being laid back and attentive but by no means overbearing. I would highly recommend and will be coming back!

Lovely place - we were all wondering how come we don't come here more often! We had racklette and really enjoyed it - it comes with a big piece of cheese and lots of food to go with it.

I ate here with my company for a Christmas Lunch. The service was quite good, considering how outnumbered the waiters were in comparison to us. They were polite and nice. The service regarding time it took for them to bring (cook) the food was absurdly slow, considering that we had booked with anticipation, and that they already knew which were our orders. I cannot understand how it took so long from them, even for small things such as coffee. We were the only group in the restaurant. But the food was indeed the most disappointing aspect of them all. Sadly poor quality of products, average amounts in not well executed dishes, and with probably the worst cheescake I have ever tried in my life. A cheeseless cheescake, more similar to a frozen yogurt. It was dreadful. A supermarket cheescake would have been utterly better. And everything for a 45£ price tag. I could not recommend it less. They should try to do better.

Really disappointing experience and we most likely wouldn't come back here. My partner booked this for my birthday and we were looking forward to our meal here. However, our experience at d'Arry's was extremely disappointing. We selected the wine and cheese offer, and after the waiter had spent some time going through all the different cheese we could select, we ended up with totally different cheese and ones we wouldn't have picked. When we asked about this, a curt manager came over and simply told us that it's not how it worked to choose the cheese, and walked off. The original waiter came back and said they'd actually run out of the cheeses we'd picked. Difficult to know what to believe but we were dissatisfied with what we had and there was no offer by the staff to exchange it. Then, onto the main course, we were promised a large fondue suitable for 2 people however when it arrived, it was a tiny bowl barely enough for 1 person, despite paying for 2 people. The waiter who had told us the size was large later reneged on this and said it was actually the size of the board, not the fondue that was large! When the bill came, a 10% service charge had already been added despite a poor experience. When requesting to remove it, the waiter challenged me on this and despite explaining our poor experience, he offered nothing. Furthermore, we were placed right by the door which the the staff kept opening, making it really cold. My partner had advised them in advance that it was a birthday meal but no efforts had been made by the venue to make it feel special, despite us being told they "would look after us". Such a shame as we really wanted to enjoy it and the idea is great, despite the food tasting nice, the meal was ruined by the poor experience we had and we left feeling very hungry and disappointed.

Incredibly frustrating. They put all the guests round the corner miles from the bar but near the window to make the restaurant look busy - and then forget about them and stand chatting to each other by the bar. We had to walk over to request service several times. Nice atmosphere but food was disappointing- felt like a double starch dinner, mainly potato plus the sourdough but the sourdough was more like a cracker than bread and very dry - no butter or oil. Carafe of wine tasted like it came from a bottle that had been open weeks. Was all a shame because they clearly tried hard and put a lot into the cheese and it was a cute setting

The cheese is amazing, we had the 3 course cheese menu which was divine. However the service was extremely slow, took 40 minutes for us to get our first drink, we had to chase our dessert and even took 20 minutes to settle the bill and that's because we went up to the bar. The staff said they were short staffed, but they were friendly and apologetic. Really let's the place down, before this visit I was thinking about booking for 12 work colleagues but if they can't handle just a few tables of 2 they won't be able to manage a table of 12 - shame!

Such a find! Beef brisket lasagne was delicious, and melt-in-the-mouth. The Waldorf salad was delicious and fresh with delicious Cropwell Bishop Stilton and pickled salad vegetables. Lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a lovely family lunch at D’Arrys. We didn’t feel rushed, the food was very good, as was the service, friendly. Cosy atmosphere without feeling cramped. I will visit and recommend again.

Very nice surprise as we hadn't been here for a while (since it's called d'Arry's) - menu has changed but a really great selection of things, had a couple of small plates that were all so tasty! It was lovely to go back to D’arrys and the food and atmosphere was lovely and the staff friendly and efficient. My work colleagues who were with me loved it too, it was their first visit and they want to come back!

This is a lovely place, I took my wife here for her birthday and we had the 3 course meal. We have been to quite a few cheese restaurants and this was the best by far. The chap serving us knew his information and was really friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone, we loved it so much we are hoping to attend again in December.

Went for the cheese tasting. The staff were absolutely lovely, let us try as many cheeses as we liked. Bought a little glass of wine from upstairs to have with the cheese too

The atmosphere was nice but the food was not. We ordered a fondue, but they forgot to heat it, so it was cold and bad. The wine was very bad, although the price was high. We would not recommand this place.

I didn't like at all, we had the all-you-can-eat raclette for 3 people. First disappointment, the raclette is served with bread instead of potatoes, which is a heresy. The cheese wasn't proper swiss/french raclette cheese. It was melted the swiss way but we had to get it ourselves, which is much less convenient than poëlons would have been. The cheese was super oily and looked very bad, which once again could have been avoided if poëlons were used instead of a swiss device. You can have unlimited cheese and bread for 1 hour with a small plate of charcuterie, with only 2 types of meat - very poor choice for a raclette. I find it's not worth your money with unlimited bread and cheese so if I had just one serving I would have gone crazy. The service charge was of 6.6 gbp, which is way too high. Speaking of service, there was only one waiter this night, who spent 20 min chatting with other clients before giving us our bill. You can have unlimited services just for 1h, yet we could not have one more service of bread for 20 min because "they make it fresh". No, really, I absolutely hated this restaurant, it's the worst experience I've ever had in Cambridge, I don't understand how it can have >4 stars on average, I'm open to discuss with the owneras if they want more suggestions.

d'arrys put on some cheese tasting with wine, and a superb 3 course meal for a company get together. Food, drinks and service was all excellent. I'll be coming back for sure.

At first the service was brilliant. After our food arrived the service basically became non existent. Food was excellent. Just a shame we got forgotten.

I had difficulty choosing from such a good menu and decided to share a platter of cold meats and cheeses and in addition have a mini tartiflette, which was absolutely delicious. The person who served us was very knowledgeable of all that was on offer. It was a shame that there were very few lunchtime customers as it deserves to be much busier. I would certainly go there again and recommend it to others, especially if you are a cheese lover.

Loved the cheese fondue, and the deconstructed cheesecake was interesting. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. £35 each for this menu in a cosy and very "Cambridge" restaurant. Thank you!

We had a really fun evening with great service and food. I think it must have changed hands or something since we were last here and it has hugely improved in both quality of food and the service. Really good vibe and plenty of other customers.

Food was fantastic! We went for a Raclette night and the experience was well worth it. One less star for Service because we waited quite a bit until someone served us, but they were really nice and professional once they did. Absolutely recommend the new cheese menu at D'Arrys and we will be back.

The food was all delicious! Especially the fondue. First visit but will be visiting again.

I really liked the food, wine menu and vibe. The service was veeery slow (we were allocated a 2 hours slot but we were there for over 3 hours), despite there were not many customers around. I'm not sure if this is because they were short staff, they didn't say. However all the waiters were very nice and polite. I will definitely go again as the cheese selection they have is fantastic and they also organise themes nights, however I couldn't find the description in the website, I only discovered this when I went there and looked at the menus. Really nice place.

Friendly team of staff, plenty of food but you really shouldn’t be serving Yorkshire puddings like that. You’d be better off to forget them. Cardboard would be the best way to describe them.

Decided to eat at this restaurant on a visit to Cambridge, as it is linked to the Cheesemonger store we like and the reviews were good. We were not disappointed with the food, it was great, with a good selection and a great advert for the cheeses. It is larger than you think from the outside, with a terrace on the ground floor and another on top (although we didn't check this out). Great value too. Only downside was that service was slow when we visited, perhaps short staffed.. I would still recommend it and would go again, as I'm sure the service is usually impeccable.

First time back at d'Arrys after 10 years having recently moved back to the area, and it's still as good as it was back in the day! Lovely friendly service, nice little spot of al fresco lunch in the courtyard - delicious and enjoyed by all. And a big fan of the location - tucked away from the busy streets, a little hidden gem.

Loved the atmosphere and warm welcome. We were a group of 3 and had the small plates to share. Enjoyed each of the choices we made. Would have been even better if the extra bread was complimentary. The carafe of white wine , the sauvignon blanc was okay but not exceptional. Would definitely come again and recommend to others. Popped into the cheese shops after, tasted different English cheeses, learned a lot and bought some to take home.

I went to Cambridge for a day trip yesterday with two friends and we shared plates. The cheese is incredible. It’s a beautiful room with lots of seating. The staff were very attentive and the prices were good. My favourites were the prawns and the pork bun. All this and a carafe of wine was £82 for 3 including service charge.

We went to the adjoining cheese mongers for a pre-booked cheese tasting session. First impressions were good and we enjoyed listening to the description of a particular cheese and identifying different features of the cheese. The person who guided us through the tasting session was very knowledgeable and passionate about his cheeses. However we felt that there were hygiene issues in that no gloves were worn and the cheese was passed hand to hand. We enjoyed the experience and returned later in the day to buy some of the cheeses. I asked to have a fresh piece of cheese cut but was told it had been cut in the morning. I was given the piece already on display. Having said this I’m happy to see another independent cheese company in Cambridge.

If you love cheese, this is a must try. Many cheese options to choose from.

Severely underappreciated restaurant with good food and nice wines at affordable prices, and always pleasant service. I'd particularly recommend going on a Sunday as they do a roast that is better than that at most pubs, with the additional advantage of the convenience that, unlike in any Cambridge pub that does a decent roast, you can just walk in instead of having to book weeks ahead!

Amazing experience in trying different kinds of cheese.

d’Arry’s delivers every time! I’ve been here multiple times before writing this review. A unique menu in Cambridge, paired with the Cheesemonger next door. Excellent raclette, tartiflette, fondue with choice of British cheeses, but also the non-cheesy dishes like the chicken udon noodles, double smashburger and Sunday roast are on par. Good wines, coffee and good portions for the price with great specials during the week if you want to try this place out. I can 100% recommend this non-chain restaurant slightly hidden, but very centrally located in Cambridge.

Delightful weekend lunch with friends, after the cheese tasting next door. Wonderful venue, attentive and prompt service and overall lovely experience. We enjoyed sampling the cheeses! Utterly delicious meal.

It was an early (pre theatre) time of 17:15 booked for 4. Initially we were left to peruse menus. We requested tap water for the table. When we came to ordering drinks we looked at the wine list. Surprised later, on checking the receipt, to find the price list was out of date and quoting lower prices than charged. We were told that two menu items were not available and chose from the remainder. We were then informed that the pizza Xxx oven was not working and we would not be served the sourdough listed. However brioche was offered as an alternative. We were not impressed. Brioche is no substitute. We did request more bread as the two morsels of brioche did not soak up the oil served. This was provide. We were charged for the extra portions. Not impressed again. Overall the service was just adequate. The wine was good and we were served in good time.

We had the 3 course cheese menu which was AMAZING and super good value for money. I Knocked a star off because the service was slow, which is unfortunate considering how good everything else was. We were in the resturant for 1 hour and 40 minutes, waiting 20 minutes for our starters to be cleared after we had finished, despite it being really quiet. However, because the food was so good and the staff were so polite, we will be back!

We had a really lovely dinner at D'Arrys' on Saturday with my daughter and her other half. We all went mostly for cheese based things (otherwise what's the point eh?) We had to get our cheese board dessert to take home because I couldn't manage it, I was all cheesed out. Loved: the cheese, the lovely sourdough breadsticks One thing I would say if you're thinking of sharing a single cheese board at the end is get one each, they're really not big enough to share. Thank you D'Arry's for wonderful dinner.

I arranged for a group of 20 ladies to have dinner @ d’arrys to celebrate our friends Hen Do. Jack the Manager, was exceptionally helpful from the minute I made an enquiry 5 months before the event. He continued to be super helpful answering email queries in a prompt and friendly manner, nothing was too much trouble. Jack and his team were exceptional on the evening and the food was delicious. I’m looking forward to returning to the restaurant with a smaller group of friends. Everything we had, mainly starters and main courses were amazing, I couldn’t highlight just one.

I had the cheese experience. We were offered slices of cheese which was fine. The issue though was that we were offered the slices either from the knife or by assistant’s hand. Both unacceptable. No napkins offered to clean our fingers, no water or anything else to clean our palette and the place had at least 4 flies lying on the cheeses. The cheese was really very good but …..

The staff at d’arrays were very attentive and the service was really efficient. We had the Camembert to share which was delicious but the cheese the bread ratio was a bit off! We also had the half roast chicken which was a generous portion and really tasty! The liquor loft was lovely and quiet for a Friday night. It’s definitely a great place to go to avoid the hustle and bustle of Cambridge!

We were there on a relatively quiet Monday evening. We had a great time, the food was excellent and I was positively surprised by the gin selection.

Everything you could want under one roof! Wonderful personal service, a relaxed atmosphere and an amazing cheese and wine selection. They even have an apartment you can stay in, air b and b. Convenient city centre location.

Very poor service. Drinks were wrong , would understand if restaurant full but there was only a few other people in there !

Dinner at d'Arry's was great. Appetizers were creative and very tasty, as were the mains. We had frickles, duck bonbons, the half chicken, and the burger. All were well-seasoned and generous portions. The atmosphere is laid back and nice for a special dinner out.

Great refresh of restaurant and excellent service

Service was a bit slow - had to grab someone to take our order after being sat for a long time. Portions were odd - 4 small bits of bread and a teaspoon of chutney for a camembert sharer for two people? Needs a bit more polish for the prices being charged.

Try the new cheesemongers! An amazing selection and very reasonably priced. I can't wait to come back and try the restaurant and rooftop bar.

D’arry’s were so accommodating of our party requests for a 50th birthday. Could not recommend more!

I've been several times and every time the food and service has been superb. There are original and inventive options on the menu and plenty that all will enjoy. The wine as you would expect is very good. I always think of D'Arrys as a first choice when I visit Cambridge.

At 1pm the whole restaurant was empty. This should have been a warning sign! We were aware this was to be a more expensive Sunday Roast but we were looking forward to a change. I ordered the beef sirloin and my husband the half chicken. Apart from the carrots the vegetables of cauliflower cheese, cabbage and leeks arrived as a pile of brown mush. My beef very chewy. I raised my dissatisfaction with the manager and he said he would get me a fresh meal. This arrived but was just as bad as the first. The chicken was good but again veg awful. We gave up at this point and paid the bill but did raise the issue of the veg again. Sadly, all the manager could say, was that it was all fresh!

Lovely service and food, the cheese is absolutely incredible too! I’m not normally a fan of Stilton, but theirs is phenomenal. Definitely worth the trip to grab some quality cheeses and enjoy a good meal. Charlie and fon also came up to us, introduced themselves, made us feel very welcome.

Literally the cutest restaurant ever, the staff were so attentive and kind it was such a lovely experience. Me and my friends all want to come again, thank you for a wonderful evening!!
