Dave's cafe in Walsall

Nice, just, food EXCEPT, you will lose many customers if you continue to use the cheapest of the cheap teabags bottom of the barrel margarine and 20p bread?. Never heard of Anchor butter and Yorkshire teabags, they might just give you the boost you need to get back some irate customers.

I have been a few times and will never go back again. Burnt toast egg not cooked properly and despite asking for sauce three times no sauce on my sandwich.

Got to be one of the worse breakfasts I've ever had & £7.50 too!. Bacon just looked grey and oily, beans were pale and definitely cheap. Toast was burnt to a crisp and I quite like burnt toast. Fried bread was a nice suprise but it was the last slice of the loaf 🤢. Tomatoes were salvageable, sausages bright pink inside but wasn't too bad. Just oily and tasteless if I'm honest was a £2.99 breakfast at best. Won't return anytime soon . Staff were nice.

Grey bacon,oily , burnt toast, end slice of bread, £7.50, cheap pale beans and not many of them, cheap sausage , not a Dave in sight. Honestly one of the worst breakfasts I've ever had in Birmingham I'd usually hclean the plate this stuff just tasted filthy.

Absolutely disgusting worse cafe iv ever ordered from. The state it came in. No drinks were sent even tho I paid for them. The fat n grease just dripped out the sandwich all down my hand 🤢

Trading on the previous owners hard work in establishing a great cafe. New owners DON'T SERVE PORK PRODUCTS due to religious reasons. AVOID.

Staff are always friendly, and food used to be great, but new owners, why would you take over a breakfast business if pork is against your religion/ideals. I will not be going there now pork is off the menu.

ordered breakfast for me an my college this morning, and the food was perfect, I'm a very picky eater so i always worry to order from new places but what a fantastic surprise! breakfast was delicious!

I ordered bacon egg sos and Tom got back to work to eat it some substitute sos and bacon they didn't even have the decency to say they cnt do bacon a very disappointing experience I wnt go back

I saw the picture of the breakfast on google page showing breakfast as expected with back bacon, black pudding etc so ordered from the link on the google page with confidence when it took me to uber eats. I requested swaps for black pudding. This was the point I should have been notified of no pork policy. Msg to the buisiness- you need to be straight and honest with customers. At the moment you are blatantly misleading them. I’m assuming the business has changed hands.

BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDERING "BACON" APPARENTLY THEY DONT DO "BACON" THEY USE TURKEY RASHERS. ORDERED 6 SANDWICHES FOR OUR OFFICE FOR BREAKFAST 4 BEING WITH BACON. AFTER COLLECTING THE ORDER WE FOUND NO BACON. RANG THE CAFE TO BE TOLD THATS ALL THEY USE NOW, SURELY THIS SHOULD BE STATED ON THE MENU DUE TO ALLERGIES ETC. SANDWICHES WERE DRY AND SAUCE WAS VERY MINIMIAL. WHAT A WASTE OF £20 + FOR FOOD TO GO IN THE BIN.

Only wish I'd read previous reviews before going .Only went on recommendation over the years how good it was .Never been before. Last day in Walsall before moving away. Moved everything yesterday so no means of having a drink or food . Thought ok , Daves cafe before a 7 hour drive .OMG I wouldn't feed the breakfast to a starving dog on the street, Haven't a clue what the substitute bacon was ? Sausage wouldn't know about pork content never been a fan of deep fried sausage. .cold beans , had warmer straight from the tin ? No tomatoes. Nicely cooked eggs tho , and coffee ok .For £7:90 absolute disgrace. Driving journey delayed thru having to rush to a toilet . Needs major improvement in this day and age .Gave it the one star ,because I had a nice blue set of knive and fork. Just to add ,after reading other reviews. You should advertise CLEARLY, that no pork products. Who wants to eat turkey rashers, maybe pre ww2 . I always assumed when new owners take over ,ALL previous reviews are deleted, so not to confuse ,and offer something that's clearly not on offer .

Bacon is more like little strips of ham and tastes disgusting, mushrooms were burnt and dry , cheap sausage, under cooked ash brown, egg like cardbored… only thing that’s decent is bean and tomato but I got a cupboard full of them lol… I don’t like to complain but I wished I’d have known before ordering because apart front the tiny bit that iv tasted the rest will be going in the bin.

Just had a full English, fabulous breakfast, incredible value. Up the villa.

Went in for a full English Breakfast for special treat and was told no pork products, no bacon, no sausage , no black pudding . Looked at them blinking and said you are joking. Sorry no... new owner. Felt very sorry for staff First time I had seen place empty. We went to Morrisons instead.

There are no pork products, quite a letdown as the turkey rashers and beef sausages are no replacement for the original, such a shame as Dave’s cafe was always a must when travelling though Birmingham

Update as of May 2023. New owners have taken over the business so there is no longer any PORK products sold. So turkey rashers replace bacon, sausages are beef only. Seeing the emptiness of the cafe on a Sunday morning is showing that was a bad decision on the new owners behalf. Friendly staff and customer service as usual. Just a shame that a greasy spoon english breakfast is no longer available.

Staff are really helpful and friendly I wanted a best on toast bacon well done with brown sauce and pepper and that's what I got all for £3.50 I will definitely be back in the future and will recommend to family and friends 🫡

Popped in today for a breakfast, wasn't dissapointed... girls in the kitchen are great, everything cooked fresh food was yummy & large portions for the price. Loved the outside very quirky western theme, inside typical cafe style, needs more tables.

Absolutely fabulous breakfast. Called in on the Saturday morning of the Walsall v Leicester F.A. Cup match. We had a medium breakfast and Wow, was it well worth the money. The girls doing the cooking were brilliant. Definitley, definitley recommend Dave's Cafe. We'll be there next Saturday because we've got Villa away so put the pan on girls.

Me and my friend are serial caff visitors and are yet to find one as exceptional as Dave’s. On the outside it is rustic but the food speaks for itself. Lovely staff who go the extra mile and my god those hash browns are better than pu**y. Much cheaper n all! Definitely value for money, quality of food is bang on. Compliments to Dave for the sensual hash browns.

Really let down my Dave's cafe today. Placed order at 10am knowing they are busy on a friday. Chased at 11.30 told be half an hr. 12.45 still no delivery but it was on its way. Chased again at 1.30 n told we had canncelled. Which we hadn't Staff waited after there shift, so disappointed. Was always our preferred cafe but not anymore.

We ordered 2 medium breakfasts, 2 bacon sandwiches, 3 coffees, a late and a tea. The food was amazing! The bacon and sausages were really good quality. All the staff were lovely and friendly. A great little find!

This would have been an awesome breakfast even at a much higher price, yet it was really cheap. If we stayed nearby, we would be regulars.

What a little gem, popped in here on a visit to watch a football game at the nearby Bescot stadium. We loved the food, and great friendly service too. Be sure to pop in, if you're close, and support a local business.

I thought I would try this place.having driven past her many times.when I walked in .it was quite busy.there were abt 5 ladies working in the kitchen doing orders so you knew it was a busy place.i ordered a medium breakfast which comes with a cup of tea.the service was excellent .the food came out within 10 minutes .it was piping hot .the value of money was excellent. The quality of the food was excellent. No cheap bacon or sausages etc.as I was there it started to get really busy which is a good indicator of the reputation of the place.i shall return in the near future.

I came in after a night shift run on the trucks. Only had a fiver on me and the girls looked aftered me becasue i was starving. Very freindly, polite and the food was spot on. By far my best local cafe. Would highly reccomend if not tried already.

Traveling to different building sites all over the Midlands for the past fifty years I have visited a LOT of cafes. We are now occupied building an extension in Walsall so have visited this cafe three times now. What a surprise, the taste of all the food is excellent. The tea is served in nice big mugs and is very good. The price is right and the service is quick and efficient. Not somewhere you would take your wife for a night out, but a cafe and a very good one. Ten stars for you Dave

We tend to use the the same hotel every time we visit family & friends and this cafe is only about 300yds from it... Don't be put off by the exterior, this is great place with a breakfast that is excellent value for money with high quality ingredients used 👌

Nice new overhaul of the place much brighter and cleaner , new staff who seem a lot more enthusiastic about getting out good food and are lovely and friendly . Had the best breakfast I've had here in a long time, everything was piping hot compared to the tepid food I was used to, great changes loved my food there

Visited Dave’s cafe for breakfast as in the area. I requested the medium breakfast, however the person ordering got me the large. Which is a lot of food. However quantity doesn’t compromise the quality. For a back street cafe it is a decent breakfast. A couple of improvements would be keeping on top of the cleanliness of the cafe and a proper coffee machine. Aside from this I cannot fault the food.

Dont even deserve 1 star! Ordered a sausage and egg sandwich got there and they was smoking outside and came in todo my food, didnt even wash there hands after smoking or didnt even have gloves on. There work tops were a mess with left over food, i still decided to have my food as i know alot of people who eat there. I then had my food, around 2 hours later i was on the toilet and felt really unwell. Following on to the night i clearly had food poisoning as i was being sick all night and ive now had to have a day off work because off being ill, safe to say i will never use again!

popped in to get a bacon and egg toasted sarnie and hash brown at lunchtime , fairly quiet 4 people in front of me. Not only have prices gone up but, as before found myself waiting 20-25 mins for my order and theyre not happy if you remind them. The sarnie was nice except the hashbrown was in the sarnie instead of on the side as requested. This episode reminded me why i stopped using it as much so i think i,ll stop and find somewhere else. Thanks but no thanks

Been going here over the years,nothing special inside,but what a breakfast.always done right and never had any problems,and plenty of if for the money (don`t know about the sandwiches)..must be one of the best breakfasts in the land and realy does take some beating..take no notice of the moaners,to easy to pick fault,will never please some people.

Orderd food for our away day, well what can I say, sandwiches was ok, small amount of salad and the sausage rolls well take a look, disgusting....

If I could rate zero I would. Absolutely disgusting poor value for money. Paid £40 to feed 9 people, 3 trays of sandwiches and a tray of burnt to a crisp black sausage rolls. No customer service, staff were very unhelpful and dismissive of our disappointment. Wont be using again.

If I could rate this place zero stars I would. Ordered a lunch platter for 9 staff. Costing 40 pound. This consisted of 3 trays if sandwiches. A small plate containing salad. Limp may I add and the attached photo of burnt inedible sausage rolls. Upon complaining we were told 'we don't make them liza did' totally uninterested. Customer service is appalling

been here serveral times and on the whole been satifiedhowever went in yesturday dirty cutlery ,coffee and tea counter swimming in spilt coffee and tea with sugar everywere , tables dirty and piled up with used plates and mugs .you would think it would be spotless with 6 girls behind the counter climbing over each other dave a bit of advice from a customer to your staff less chatting and a bit more attention to keeping the place clean and tidy

This is a truly cheap greasey food joint. With fake cheese and super unhealthy food, it's a tasty place to eat! Staff are friendly enough but your food will always be wrong or late if you order over the phone. Go into to eat and enjoy a traditional truckers environment, sticky floor and all. Enjoy! (seems like the owner if very defensive about this place, I'm not surprise, but you can see what sort of service you will receive, yet I still pop in as the food is just GOOD (and cheap))
