Excellent coffee shop. We enjoyed bacon sandwich & chocolate brownie between us. My 3 year old Granddaughter loves the Babycino in a sweet little cup and saucer with a little biscuit on the side and chocolate on top!

Loved the sourdough cookie and the milkshakes were good too, lots of choice. Fair prices too. Star off is because service was a bit slow and I don't like it when places are cash only (I also don't like it when places are card only, a mix is always good).

If you are anywhere near Pontefract and you fancy a nice coffee and something to eat then you won't go far wrong by visiting DJs Café at Maud's Yard, (off Market Place), Pontefract, WF8 1AQ Tel. 07947 395981. I was actually on a journey to Durham and decided to break the journey at Pontefract. Having never been there before I was delighted to find a warm welcome at DJs Café and delicious cheese and ham sourdough toasties. Hannah, who runs the business, is very professional and friendly. I could see there were several regulars who were enjoying their drinks and eats. I think the opening hours are Tuesdays 9am to 12.30pm. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9am to 3pm. Saturday 8am to 3pm. Closed Mondays and Sundays. The toasties were the very best and kept us going for several hours. The bakewell cake I took away was absolutely delicious and so fresh that even though I didn't eat it until 32 hours later it was still very fresh. Pontefract is definitely worth a visit if you are nearby. There is a great indoor market with a good variety of wares on sale. Parking is available at Morrison's supermarket, Stuart Road, WF8 1BT and it is only a short walk to the market place and Maud's Yard where you will find DJs Café. Thank you to the bakers and Hannah. To have a nice breakfast including coffee for two at under £17.00 is very good value and so fresh 👌 Thank you.

Small, but cosy and friendly venue. Very clean and friendly staff. Tastefully decorated with daffodils on the tables. Tempted by the range of sweet treats but on this occasion I resisted and opted for a mocha. My drink arrived promptly and was served beautifully with a light biscuit to accompany it. It tasted perfect. Another table ordered a hot chocolate which looked divine. I will be back to sample a cake.

I messaged the diner a few days before we were heading to the area. The staff were really helpful at getting us in and reserved tables for us. We had regular updates on our table being prepared and ready. On arrival we were shown to our seats and served promptly by the lovely staff. The food was lovely and a great portion size, I beleive the menu was limited as our visit was in covid times but there was still plenty of choice. We got cakes to take away which were delicious. If I visit this area again I would definitely go back.Great service!

The service is great but the food and coffee keeps me coming back. Richard the owner. His family and their extended family of staff all share the same high standards of service and food. The ever changing desserts and cakes are delicious and whether you are hungry or simply want a snack there is something for everyone. Tucked away at the end of an alleyway means you walk past two other eateries but I always head for the best. DJs venue looks like an American diner but it is whatever you want, cafe, deli, olde old tea rooms, trendy caf or simply THE place to meet friends

Three of us went to pontefract today for the liquorice festival and of course, the first thing you want as you get off the coach is a coffee and a loo.Luckily for us a local lady told us where to go for the best coffee...DJ'S in Maud yard. What a find!. Real chocolate grated on our cappuccino, homemade cake on the side, so come lunchtime, where did we go? Yes, back to DJ'S for a fabulous ciabatta with goats cheese and caramelised onion and tea......so good and so reasonably priced. Before we caught the coach home we had time for one last coffee, this time with the best flapjack I have ever tasted. Heaven!! I would recommend anyone visiting Pontefract to make sure they have their coffee stops and lunch here.

I've been to DJs so many times now I can't count - it's the best little cafe in Pontefract by miles. I've had breakfast - lovely bacon sarnies, waffles with chocolate spread, toasted teacakes...all fantastic. I've stopped by for coffee and cake - the cakes and pastries are incredible. The smell hits you as soon as you walk in. And don't even get me started in the quiche for lunch! Wow. Often, we go in for breaky and end up coming away with a box of tiffin or quiche to take away. I just can't resist. On top of that the owner and staff are just so friendly and welcoming, and the prices are really reasonable. I have been a customer of this place for several years, but........I have noticed in the past few months that the atmosphere is slightly depressing.Richard seems to have the worries of the world on his shoulder and this seems to rub off on the staff, I have had to repeat my order several times lately due to staff trying to do other things other than listen to and serve the customer. There is a time when I notice the sparkle appears and that is when the owners wife and the woman who usually work with her are in the cafe.I am seriously looking for another cafe to give my business to.

The staff here are so friendly and the food is very good. The Oreo milkshake is probably the best thing I've ever drunk with 0% ABV. Will definitely be back to try more of the milkshakes. And sandwiches.

I have been going to DJs for years and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and great value for money. The cakes are to die for! I love their lemon creme brûlée tart so much that my grandmother ordered one for my wedding! The staff and owners are very friendly and welcoming. Keep up the good work!

I have been going to DJs for a number of years now. It is always busy because the cakes and drinks are so good. American theme unique to Pontefract and really friendly staff who always have time for a chat.

We visited this cafe very recently and wow what a treat! The cakes and tarts displayed are certainly a sight for sore eyes! We had a breakfast bagel which was delicious and I can honestly say was hot non greasy and beautifully presented. We could not resist taking raspberry tarts home which were devoured by the kids before we got a chance - oh well great excuse for a return visit which we will certainly be making soon. The owner of this cafe bakes and cooks everything so guaranteed freshness, he took time to explain the ingredients contained and he obviously has great skill as well as passion for his food and this makes your visit here much more pleasurable. The staff are a joy nothing is too much trouble.Do try when next in Pontefract.

We first attended this place in September for afternoon tea with our granddaughter and it was excellent. We always go for a festive afternoon tea and we were so impressed on our previous visit we decided to try here this year. We were not disappointed - it was fabulous. The care and attention the owner puts into the food and presentation is second to none. Everything is freshly baked. It is not your standard fayre , there are many unusual but delicious Christmas themed treats. We can guarantee you won’t leave hungry and can take anything you can’t manage to eat away with you. We will certainly be returning in the new year.

Called for lunch with a friend. Lovely atmosphere and decor Fairly basic menu but after speaking to James they aim to have minimal waste so more will be added to menu as more customers visit. Staff very attentive and helpful without being intrusive and food tasty and served with minimal waiting time. Highly recommend a visit to either sit in the outside terrace in the sun or inside in the beautifully decorated interior in what look like very comfy seating
