Duke of Devonshire in Eastbourne

We love coming to The Duke of Devonshire, Ozzie, Julian, Monika and all the the team are fantastic, great service, great atmosphere, great pub AND dog friendly

What a great lively pub! We had our Christmas get together in there and the staff were very friendly, attentive and really helped to make our visit special! The food was delicious, buffet fare and VERY plentiful! Big shout out to Mon, Caroline and Kate who were definitely the hosts with the most!

It's such a shame. The food looks great but I have to order things without cheese and sauce etc for health reasons. After the 2nd time they got my order wrong I asked for a refund and went hungry. 2nd time it's happened here. Send it back once...... Received the same mess 2nd time......never send back a 3rd time..... I've worked in kitchens..... I know what, happens! Sat here watching the Mrs eat a pizza while I have nothing! A shame because the front of house staff are very nice and look after you well. Unfortunately let down by their cooks! I would avoid this place if you want a nice meal and have any dietary requirements! The kitchen staff care very little as to what comes out. If you want to go out for a drink then all good! If you want to eat go somewhere else! Like kokoro!

Popped in for a few pints last Thursday Monica and gang were so lovely chatty and made ya feel welcome and the San Miguel was a great pint will definitely come down here next time I'm around take care ladies 🍺🍺🍺🥂😊🌹😉

This place is magnificent. The people behind the bar are an absolute joy. Sports on TV. Lovely food. Little outside area. Very reasonably priced. Go.

Went here for dinner with my family, food was brilliant and came out quickly and the customer service was amazing as well as a great atmosphere. Will definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family.

I use it fairly often anyfind some of the staff friendly and attentive, but others not so. I could forgive them because I am vocal in demanding my pint being a full pint without being rude or aggressive. However I'm still happy to remain a customer.

Large L shaped room, really nicely decorated with good tables and chairs. Mixture of wooden and Carpeted floors. Usual tap beers with a few real ales available. Quite a few TV's dotted around showing football. Staff were friendly and polite. Dog friendly and wheelchair accessable. Beer was very nice. Really relaxing place. I thoughly enjoyed my visit.

Good beer, excellent staff and atmosphere Reason for only 2 stars is that Website states Happy Hour 5-8pm Mon-Fri - this is incorrect - twice was informed that they do not do this anymore - false advertising - Had a few drinks and decided to eat and carry on drinking elsewhere. Change your website

The duke of Devonshire is my local & let me tell you it never disappoints. The girls behind the bar (monika,Caroline & kate) are wonderful they always make me feel welcome. Lovely place to stop for a couple of pints or some lunch, toilets are always clean & atmosphere is always on point Sports,dog friendly, banging food they have ot all.

We visited for lunch and the food was not only delicious, but very reasonably priced. We had the fish finger sandwich, which was huge and such good value, a plain burger and chips, which was a good size, scampi and chips, which again was a good portion and 3 small plates, which we delicious (Halloumi Fries, Cheeseburger Spring Rolls and Colcannon Poppers). The staff were so lovely and made us feel really welcome. It was lovely to see a pub so busy as well. Really lovely pub, with a great atmosphere.

We are staying in Eastbourne and have had breakfast in the Duke of Devonshire every day. The breakfast is lovely and the service excellent.

Always a great place for lunch when in Eastbourne. Staff are lovely, too. Very reasonable prices. Food is always hot, tasty, and decent service. Big screens to catch the football, etc. There are plenty of drink choices. I highly recommend popping in there. Ready for Halloween!

Nice big pub with reasonable prices. Good place to watch sports with both rugby and football on when we visited. Lots of seating and good atmosphere. We didnt eat while we were there but the food we saw looked good.

The cheesy garlic pizza bread we had and the snack nachos were spot on and so were the drinks. The staff working were kind and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing. I definitely will be coming back again soon

Had dinner here today. I have to be honest and say that the staff wasn't really friendly, but the food was even better!! So really extremely good food! Important: this is self-service, which unfortunately wasn't advertised anywhere. Will definitely come here again - the food was simply bomb😍

Amazing pub, really friendly staff anlway smiling and I can say they look happy to work there. The food was really tasty. my family annd I even met the kitchen manager Julian what lovely chap so we congratulated him for the amazing tasty food and not forgetting the music was top. Very strange occurrence at our once local pub, me and my brother had just came from the beach to use the toilet and get a drink, when we came out of the toilet we were told we weren’t being served anymore drinks (we hadn’t even had any?) and that they did not need to provide us a reason why, I asked around until I found who I assume to be a supervisor and he gave me the reason - we were selling drugs in the toilet ? Two other friends arrived later on who were due to meet us and were greeted with “ you won’t find what you’re after here and you’re no longer welcome here “ I understand that there’s a right to refusal but to straight up accuse people who regularly visit your pub of something that they didn’t do then proceed to bar two people who weren’t even at the pub because they know us doesn’t seem right ?

Always greeted with a smile the 3 ladies who mostly work lunchtime have it down to a tee,Great choice of beers and wine no need to go else where lovely atmosphere during the day !

Food is amazing, very value price, staff are very friendly. I really recommend to go anytime. You have option to seat outside with friend and family, so you can enjoy your meal or have na nice drink.

I was there today with a friend for breakfast, the premises has improved a lot since my last visit. The ladies who served us were very helpful , smiling and cheerful .🤗😇 Very good food at good prices and delicious coffee !🍽☕️ We will certainly return here again🥳

As always when on holiday in Eastbourne it's one place I always call into, the food and drinks on offer is always 1st class and the service is excellent.

Wanted a place to eat during the air show and to watch the football. Lots of Big TVs and seating. Food much better than expected. We will return when in the area. The pub was busy and the service really good.

4 of us went in for some food and watch the football. 1 had fish n chips while the others picked 3 dishes each from the Mix n Match , all food was hot n tasty, staff were very visible clearing and cleaning tables which is nice to see.

Popped in after a nightmare journey and dreadful experience trying to park in Eastbourne. This town really doesn’t want or welcome visitors. Happy to say the staff here were friendly, the place was clean, and there were lots of tables available (despite the air show being on). Hubby had chicken pieces, I had prawns and we shared the chips from the starter menu. Portions were perfect size, obviously the chicken, prawns and chips were frozen from a wholesaler, but still tasted ok. The chips were really delicious, loved the cheese sauce and onion bits, the Guinness sauce was awesome (would love the recipe). We would definitely pop in again for a light lunch. Food was 4*, drinks were 2*, so average 3* for the review. Don’t expect the WiFi to work though, unfortunately table ordering isn’t available, despite the table display saying otherwise. The ladies loo is easy to get to, clean as well. £6.10 for a pint of beer, £7+ for a glass of wine, unfortunately drinks are definitely on the expensive side, best to stick to soft drinks.

Sat outside on a hot day people watching! Clean toilets. Lots of people eating.

One of my regular haunts on a day off , always a friendly welcome from Monica, Kate, Caroline and the boys . They serve breakfast from 10 until 12 then the full menu comes on... great selection of drinks too.as if that's not enough they have a big screen and smaller TVs dotted around to show all the sport , child and dog friendly as well

Found here on trip advisor and decided to book due to previous reviews as we were on a flying visit to Eastbourne. Service was quick, nice atmosphere and food was delicious. Just what we needed after a long day. Atmosphere was good. Not too overcrowded for a Saturday night and would come back again if I am in the area.

Visited this pub on recommendation and decided to try the breakfast,it was amazing and great value for money ,best breakfast we have tried so far on our visit . The 2 ladies behind the bar were an absolute delight and nothing was to much for them ,well done Duke of Devonshire ,keep up the good work

My old mate "Boss Mann Fritz" invited me to the Duke for a swift pint. What an experience! Very amusing bar tender - sorry about the cataracts. Welcoming atmosphere but the beer was pricey! Worth a visit.

Best atmosphere in town for sports. Nice food and Drink deals for everyone to have a good time. Dog and child friendly is a massive bonus. One of the only places to have Hazy Jane on tap

Thank you so much for a lovely lunch. My wife, kids and I dined with our friends last weekend and the food was first class and was superb,in particular the mix grilled was outstanding. All of the staff were friendly and attentive and really added to the occasion. Thank you all, we will definitely be coming back and recommending you.

Ive always come to this restaurant for many years for one particular burger i have the notorious p.i.g and honey-glazed burger but now ive descovered its been taking of the menu, there isnt any burgers which couldnt beat them I just came here for something to eat on the 13th june but the food was cold

The food was good but not special, we found it very annoying that there were too many staff walking around, and if you had even 1 sip of drink, the staff refilled your glass with your own bottle. I had not yet put down my fork after the last bite and my plate had already disappeared. We were immediately asked if we wanted dessert. When our answer was no, we had the bill within 2 minutes. We quickly finished our glass and we were standing. outside within half an hour. And that while there were still 4 empty tables.

If you can't scamble or cook an egg to well done, I suggest your in the wrong job.

A great place for sitting and relaxing in the sun,with a cool drink and snack,while watching the world go by.

2 for a tenner meals are amazing. Why cook and do the dishes when we can get fish and chips for a tenner. Totally awesome. And not small portions either. We still visit here on a regular basis for our now obligatory fish and chips. We have now also become very close with the bar staff who are so friendly and welcoming. What more could you want nice place, great food, lovely staff. Don't walk past go in you will thank me.
