We went last Saturday at around noon when it had just opened. Fairly fast service and authentic Japanese food.

Tasty authentic food, great service and atmosphere

We ordered the bento box, and the fried tofu in the set was cold and not fresh.. was not that good.

Authentic Japanesee restaurant, Tuesday at 4pm was very busy, recommend booking beforehand. They have massive menu you will definetly find something for yourself but it will take you a while! Everything came very fast, food was delicious and very fresh. Bento Boxes are great for the price there is a lot in it. Sushi was so tasty!

Affordable and delicious food with a wide variety of menu options. It’s always busy, but service is quick, so you won’t have to wait long.

Everything we ordered was delicious, some waitresses dressed in traditional costumes and, the best, the waiters who served us were Shuhei and Nipun. They were very kind, helpful and patient 😉. Out of 10 for them

Less stars as to them serving me STINKY UNAGI BENTO! bro why? Such a let down ! Served me stale unagi with pungent fishy taste . When addressing this i was served another one but was bit raw though it was not fishy ! Also, Seating needs to be re arranged to begin with ! !!! Yes food is cheaper in comparison to other jap restaurants other than that never ordering UNAGI ! 🤮gave life time trauma ! silly sausages cant you think your customers are fool ! Do not order ramen and unagi (eel) here!!!

This has to be one of the best sushi restaurants in London

We didn’t have any reservation and decided to walk-in, only to realize it would be a long queue! Recommend making a prior booking if you planning to dine here. Queues might take longer. We were approx. waiting for 40 mins before we were seated. However the long queues speaks of the value of the restaurant and the quality food it offers. We ordered a sushi set and 2 bento boxes. The food is very affordable, offers generous portion and a great value for money. They also served us miso soup, which I guess was complimentary and felt really refreshing. The bento and sushi were delicious as well! Had an amazing dining experience! Will visit again.

Waited more than one hour before having their food. The waiting is so long that I see other guests sleeping on their chair. Food is cheap though.

I go here often with my friends. It's a great place and the food is good for its price. Normally when I go there isn't a line so I get seated very quick. Staff is very kind as well.

Traditional place, great food, honest prices.

Service is generally ok. However on two occasions now, this being the second, we have waited for around an hour for the bento box to arrive, even after prompting. Not even an apology.

I would recommend to do a reservation as this is a very popular restaurant. We waited for 30 minutes in the line. The price for the value and amount of food you get is very reasonable. I would definitely come back here

Good Japanese food at a good price (good price for London, of course...). We ordered two bentos and some takoyakis. The truth is that everything is very rich and more than enough quantities. The only thing is that you probably have to wait in line to get in, and once inside the tables are very close to each other, so you don't have much privacy. Still worth trying.

I've always said I know good reviews, but this is my first time posting. I really felt like I was in Japan, but that's it. The portion size is small compared to the price, and I was wondering what to do with the salmon rice bowl in particular. I think it would be much more delicious to eat salmon sushi at Wasabi while you are in the UK. It wasn't particularly friendly, and it seemed like the Japanese did it, but I felt like waiting for about 30 minutes was a waste.

Very busy authentic Japanese restaurant, very efficient staffs that won't keep you long before your order arrives. But be prepared to wait in queue in busy hours. Worth the wait though

Who really recommended it? Really.. I waited close to one o'clock in the evening to go in. The online reviews were really good. As you guys know, if something is either delicious or not tasty, I don't write a review. -5 stars. Don't jump to conclusions based on these criteria. The time I spent waiting here was a bit of a waste. The desks are sticky and the servers are either out of their minds or unmotivated and unresponsive. They didn't even give me spoons when they gave me the rice bowl, so I had to ask for it again. I received about a roll of food, but I had to wait for over 40 minutes to receive it. They say our chef is crazy busy, but if that's the case, he should stop accepting customers or keep accepting customers. I really wanted to see the owner's face to see what he was talking about. It seems better to eat at another nearby restaurant. I didn't understand why I was waiting. As for the food, the rolls were okay, but rather than waiting that long, go ahead and eat two or three plates. Please

I recently visited and was looking forward to enjoying their food. Unfortunately, after dining, I experienced diarrheas, which I believe may have been caused by the food I consumed. While the ambiance and service were satisfactory, this health issue is very concerning. I urge the restaurant to review their food handling and preparation practices to ensure the safety of their customers. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for others in the future.

Arrogant restaurant and Arrogant manager, a lot of seats inside and let 20people wait outside and we have wait for 25min no one oder us. The dish is not traditional food.

Friend and I had lunch in Eat Tokyo Soho last Saturday. We had the bento boxes for fried oyster and katsu chicken which didn't disappoint. Delicious! We also had spring rolls, gyoza and age shumai. These were average at best. Staff were friendly and efficient. All in all, we would go again.

I've been here many times before and their food is great. But today at 5:30 pm I came with my friend to eat. We told the waiter that we wanted to order, but after 10 minutes no one came to serve us, we were very angry. Finally we left, and when we left still no waiter came to ask us. I'm really disappointed with the service attitude of this place. The previous few times I ate there, there were several Japanese waitresses, and the experience was good. I always smiled when I left after eating, but today's Indian male waiter was really bad, it was really terrible

Good selection and variety of food fast service reasonably priced

The place was packed because why not! Food is delicious and affordable, which is why. Service is also great and quick. We enjoyed everything. Pls do take notice of your toilet though. One of it was not flushing well and the other has poo smears (which could be a customer's fault) but it could also mean that the flush is also weak.

The worst curry and pork chop rice in the world Although the portion is large, the pork chops are too fat and they are fried too dry. Even eating only curry and rice is not delicious.

Was my favorite place for the past three years but their new special menu really disappointed me. I ordered Kayaku gohan for £27.5, and according to the picture it has at least 8 uni(sea urchins), but when I got the rice it only has 2 tiny pieces on top, such a fraud!!! Please avoid this item if you are attracted by the picture.

Been going here over 10 years quality still the same tasty especially the sushi. I always order Salmon and Chicken Teriyaki bento. Is good value of meal it comes with rice and miso soup. Yes, I agree, queue is always long so if you don’t want to queue make sure to make reservations in advanced. I do recommend this place to have tasty Japanese food.

Decent food but the team is mainly led by the Chinese from hongkong who are really organised and prompt (both main server and chef behind the counter). Not much greeting like what we are used to in Japan when entering. Decent quality and quantity of food. Peach wine was served in wine cups, but it was supposed to be served in cup and diluted with ice. Fried items could be crispier, raw with cut nicely but could be fresher. Overall a good experience but could explore somewhere else if you are seeking an experience that is closer to the Japanese standard (am unaware of any other shop yet that does that yet,open to ideas).

The popularity is always obvious from the cue outside- howere we waited less than 20 mins. DEFO worth the waited best deals at lunch but just as amazing quality for dinner. Great date night & we will be back again for another bento.

Previously, I had posted a review on this particular premises with a 5 stars review, but I have not been to the same place for a long time which I had horrific experience on my recent visit on 12/11/2024. After my late shift, I always looking for somewhere I feel safe and no long queue for quick eat before heading home. I returned to this place with my fully trust based on my previous many experiences. But I was so wrong! The first, I noticed the restaurant was not as busy as used to be which it's Monday night and I thought it just one of the day that I am lucky don't need to wait for a long queue. I normally ordered a set menu which I had many times in other branches as well, but I want to try something different this time. For trying something different, I order eel hand roll, cold seaweed with cucumber salad, ma pou tofu, 3 pieces Japanese fried chicken and Japanese style egg roll, plus green tea. The first thing that came was "ma pou tofu" which was unusual as normally the cold dishes come before hot dishes. It wasn't impressive as the tofu was a bit cold not hot as I expected, but I ate it. The worst was just started, the fried chicken came.. I was shocked, the chicken was dark oily look which was obviously over cooked and did not look eatable. I complained, the waiter was trying to convince me that is what I ordered, but I am from a country that hugely Japanese culture influenced, how do I not know what friend chicken supposed to look like? I returned the dish. They seems know what si wrong and accepted. The following dish "egg roll" even worsen than the friend chicken... I was sitting on the bar front of the chef to watch they preparing dishes. I saw they put egg roll in the microwave to heat the dish and I thought that is very odd way to prepare this dish. It supposed to be cooked on the square pan and serve straight away. Thw next I know it was from microwave put front of me and try to serve me. I was just really annoyed as I said to the waiter this is from the microwave not fresh cooked. He dared to reply 'this is the way egg roll to be served'... What a joke! By this point I have lost all my appetite and I told them to cancel all my orders as I have no feelings to eat any of their food. The way they had served the food tonight was absolutely disgraceful to Japanese food and to anyone eating in the restaurant! I also noticed, there was no Japanese chef inside the bar, they were all Chinese which lack of respect for the food and waiters are all from south Asia and also lack manners of service. After my complaint, the manager still charged me with what they served. No apologies and no emotion to what I had said to them. This is absolutely not the Japanese attitude, but a group of Chinese/South Asians amature trying making money out of eastern people who have no clue about Japanese food.... I definitely will not return and also NOT recommend anyone to go to eat this place ever!

Only place where I would gladly eat the salad (cause I don't even think about it even at home). There's just something with the sauce that I would buy it if it were for sale. And the portions were bigger than expected! Just sad I wasn't able to prepare my stomack beforehand.

Best sushi I had in London, friendly and cheerful staff

Reliable, large portioned, fresh Japanese food with a menu that is like a telephone book. Good value and always leave feeling full. Only downside is there may be a queue and it’s always so busy inside.

We’ve been coming to Eat Tokyo in Soho for so many years now, and it’s always great. Can’t recommend it enough!

Decent food for the price, queue is long because it’s so popular

Great food, the vegetarian tempura bento was amazing, really good value but the service… queued up for a long time and there were quite a few empty tables when I got inside. There were some tables that were empty for the whole time I was eating but there was still a big queue when I left. The person managing the queue was not polite either.

Good value for money and my favourite is Unagi Bento. Other outlets don't offer Unagi Bento and this outlet has the best quality in terms of food and service is not bad either.

Love coming here. The food is always great and yummy. The staff are nice and helpful. I'm always happy when I leave. There can be a bit of a queue in the evenings since it's popular but I've only had to wait 15-20 mins to get in so it wasn't a problem for me.

The food was delicious but the service was a bit slow. My boyfriend’s bento box was served first and my dish arrived 20 mins later. We were there for about an hour for a quick meal and the quality of the food was excellent. I had the salmon and avocado and tuna and avocado rolls which were delicious but smaller than I had thought they would be. Good value for money.

I had a very pleasant experience! The service was quick and thoughtful. And the food was amazing! I had the salmon bento which taste awesome! I had to repeat it on the next day:) Super recommend

I've been to many Eat Tokyo restaurants, and as always, I enjoy the broad variety of dishes on offer for a very reasonable price. In particular, my favourite dishes on this occasion were the hokkai roll, hyper roll, and the bara chirashi don. The normal chirashi don is also nice, but I quite like the smaller (bara) chopped up pieces of sashimi on top. Eat Tokyo is one of my favourite reasonably priced Japanese restaurants in London, so I will definitely return.

Every dish we order is quite good except pork katsu jyu. I can't chew or cut with a spoon.

The portion is quite large for this price. Girls can’t finish eating Will try other items next time

OOO this place is great!! The queue was an experience in itself... I don't recommend going if you're starving, the queue is known to be at least 20 min wait in the street - like most popular places in central London! Price and quality was next level. I ordered the regular portion size and had to check they hadn't accidentally given me the double portion because it was huge. Service always polite and professional.

Stopped for a quick lunch for 1, got a seat very promptly by the sushi counter. Service was fast for what I ordered: teriyaki chicken bento and pork yaki gyoza. Good size portions and the great prices for the different bento meals. Would recommend and would definitely eat here again, the interior really transports you back to Japan!

The service was unfortunate, they forgot part of the food we had ordered and on top of that they tried to blame us. The food is well priced but the quantity is small. Very normal flavor, nothing surprising. The tables are so close together that the person next to you practically coughs on you. I didn't like it at all, the worst of all was the service.

I often go to the covent garden Eat Tokyo and all is fine there, this time I picked Soho and after waiting 20 mins we have been seated near the door, everytime door opens the cold comes in and makes the area cold which I dont prefer in october, when I asked if its possible to change the table (10 mins before our orders arrive), the guy who manages tables and welcomes people in said ` I know that everytime it gets cold when door opens, but if you want to move to another table you have to wait outside again` which did not make sense, therefore I give less stars. Food is okay but I couldnt enjoy it, service okay but they could have change or apperantly he knows it gets cold and can let us know inadvance etc etc.

I have been coming here regularly for years, sometimes several evenings a for my chicken katsu. The experience is always pleasant. Excellent food, excellent staff, and service with a smile.

Eaten from several Eat Tokyo branches, but decided to get a takeaway as we are dishing the food out we notice hair on a few of the pork katsu pieces. I’ve emailed, but had no response.

You should go for the big bowl of ramen noodles or katsu curry chicken which is fabulous, also I recommend the hot sake if you’re dining with your friends. There is vast amount of entires, sushis and canapé’s which I recommend their gyoza and tempura sushi 👌 oh by the way don’t forget to try bentos, also you can share it with your friends, my choice in bentos would be chicken teriyaki and fried one.

Really good, large portions. My booking wasn't on the door, but they got us in reasonably quickly. Which I really appreciated. Service was quick and everything was delicious. Really good prices too! Loved it!

Disappointed. Absolutely disappointed. The food came when I was brought up with bill that I’ve been waited and when I’m about to go the still charge the food that u haven’t received as well as the waitress mentioned that my food will not be coming as when I asked the lady if my food still coming on or not.

Been waiting for the food, the waitress said that my food wasn’t coming when I was asking will my food is coming as I have been waited for some time. And when I asked for the bill. The bill came and yet, still charged my food with full service charge. Quite disappointed. When I was about to talk with the waiter to remove the food that I didn’t received. The food now came. Expected to pay, yet still say if you cannot finish the food you can pack home. Whereas I am about to go elsewhere and no time to eat any more. Very disappointed.

Reasonable price and much better than other Japanese food restaurants for tastes.Im Japanese. It's not 100% authentic but, can eat. Service is so so. Don't expect like in Japan 🗾 Problem is always Q. Waiting too much and the staff are 98% Chinese and Asian!!

If you want to get the best value Japanese food in central London, that’s the place to go. However if you want the most delicious Japanese food, I afraid this is not the place for it. The food portions are large, really good portion that can fit your tummy well without ordering sides. The salmon bento cost only £10, and that’s some insane pricing in central London. But of course, that’s not it without some downsides. For example the rice was hard (felt like it has been sitting there for too long), the service was alright, staff was not proactive. If you know when you are coming, do make a reservation as there would be easily 30-40 ppl queuing outside during peak dinner hours.
