Elaichi Tandoori in Mendip

The roast fish starter was a revelation - I heard a local order it when I was deciding, and loved it. Very good curry as well - (chicken Jalfrezi if I recall) - not afraid to be spicy. If I lived locally I would be here all the time. There's a wide menu and I would want to work my way through it! Yum.

Nice place, fairly traditional Anglo Indian food, but done very well. We appreciated the quorn and tofu options

Not ordered from here since the last fiasco

Fuimos a comer un bocado rápido ya que teníamos una cita en otro lugar para llegar. Aunque el miembro superior del personal me permitió pedir una guarnición con Naan, no dejó que mi acompañante hiciera lo mismo, insistiendo en que pidiera una comida completa. Lamentablemente la mayor parte de la comida se dejó ya que no tuvimos tiempo de comer. La comida también era de mala calidad y no tenía sabor. Nos sentimos intimidados y nerviosos mientras estábamos allí, ya que el tipo era tan grosero e intimidante. Definitivamente no iré de nuevo. Tengo que decir que los miembros más jóvenes del personal eran encantadores

One of the best Indian restaurants I've used. Takeaway one a week on average and eaten in a few times. Food always plentiful and delicious and the staff are always friendly and efficient. Moved to Glastonbury in 2011 and have used them all that time and never once had a bad experience.

Food was very good. Could do with a bit of a face lift. Shame they can't serve alcohol. Would go again if in Glastonbury.

With the nerves that come from trying something for the first time, we decided to do an online order to be delivered to our campsite. It worked perfectly, with the food arriving on time and nice and hot! Great communication from the delivery driver. All the dishes were tasty and good portion sizes. Highly recommended.

Very polite,friendly and helpful staff.. Food is fantasic.. The only complaint i got, is that we have to come all the way from South Wales😊Certainly not disapointed. Shall def do a re-visit.. Big thankyou to staff who were working. A 2nd visit, all be 4yr later, and again the food is just as great. Must try the Tamarind, with a swt/sour twist.. rather than going for the usual safe korma, tikka or balti options we all know, i like to try something different.. This was no exception, rrrrreally nice, also their veg curry as a side. Highly recomemdes

This was some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. The Papadams and the Vegetable Bhaji was incredible, actually everything was!

Sad that after many months not having Indian food (which usually is one of my favorites) I end up here after 12h travel. The food was SO bland, chicken and lamb both as chewy as it can get, even a knife with heavy pressure barely got thru it, impossible to swallow. Safe to say I will never go back here again. Service better than food but you can see they don’t love working there, nor does the chef as the is absolutely no love or passion to be tasted in their food. Biggest waste of 50£ on food I remember making 😫

It's probably the worst Indian meal I have ever had. There's nothing else to say. I wouldn't even give it 1 star if the system would let me.

I come here every year when I'm in Glastonbury. They have an incredibly large menu with something for everyone. They have to learn not to put coriander on everything because ugh... Soapy taste! But otherwise really delicious and the staff is super friendly.

Really excellent takeaway last night, everything was so tasty! I especially want to mention the fish tikka Balti (lemon rice was perfect with this) and the chicken Rogan Josh.

¡Nos encanta un buen curry y debemos decir que este restaurante indio no decepcionó! Fue absolutamente delicioso, uno de los mejores que hemos tenido. Los poppadoms eran tan frescos. Tuvimos un pollo madras y un balti Jalali con arroz frito especial y keema naan! ¡Yum! Lo único que nos afligió fue que nos cobraron £ 1. 50 ¡Cada uno por descorche aunque no vendan alcohol! Así que no dejamos propina porque nos habían cobrado £ 3 por el uso de 1 vaso. Probablemente habríamos dejado una propina de £ 5 - £ 6, ¡así que se perdieron! Luego, cuando nos fuimos, el camarero salió con nuestras botellas vacías y las puso en el contenedor de la calle del consejo, ¡lo cual es ilegal! También hemos tenido una comida para llevar y era igual de delicioso y estaba con nosotros en 1/2 hora!

Been eating here for years and loved every meal. Sadly the last recent two orders have disapointed , lacked spice and some not cooked through . Some recipes have appeared to be changed . The yogurt is now spicy and not light and refreshing , the garlic naan seems dry , has big garlic chunks it never had before and coriander

We had a beautiful meal here- every dish was simply divine. Special mention to the woman who served us with so much care and attention to detail.

This has become my regular Indian takeaway. The food is flavoursome and well cooked and the onion bhaji's are awesome. Highly recommend!

Absolutely the worst Indian Takeaway ever. They forgot the rice but later delivered it. Tikka chicken wasn’t cooked through. Not authentic at all. Sauce from a jar?? Drove back to return the meal. Refund no quibble. I do not recommend.

Well is you like appallingly slow service and near cold food and table service persons that have zero personality this is the place, near 1 and half wait for our food , and numerous other tables complaining, Never again. Go Thai in street…..

No idea what people are going on about, the Jalfrezi was one of the hottest ones I've had to date. Did a fantastic job serving 18 of us, only downside was the rate which food came out. Some were already finishing theirs by the time the last of us got ours, though given how busy it was that was probably unavoidable... Oh and this place doesn't serve alcohol, though you can bring your own in.

Picked up a takeaway this evening, the best Indian food we’ve had in years. Worth the extra 20 minutes to pick it up.

I haven't been for months as this was always my favorite in Glastonbury. Our meal didn't taste as good as before (I've been going for years) apparently a new chief so was slightly disappointed.

Every time we go to Glastonbury which is at least spring and autumn every year. Our trip can not be be complete without the best Indian we have ever experienced. You will not be disappointed

Returned from my travels to Malta. In the way back from Bristol airport called and ordered Rohan Josh and naan with garlic and coriander. Best I ever had! Highly recommend with confidence!!

We ate here last night after enjoying The Glastonbury Frost Fayre. It was very busy with a 30 minute wait for a table. My wife had the chicken tikka special, with mango. I had a chicken passanda. Sadly this eatery does not have a drinks license but you can bring your own ata cost to you of £1.50 per person!! Service was ok, although it felt like I was eating under the supervision of a female dominatrix, all dressed in black with a very stern look on her face. Our food was tasty enough. Especially the chicken with mango. Mine was a tad on the insipid side. Both meals were served in cold dishes which meant the food cooled down well before we finished it. I doubt we would return here.

Beautiful fresh food, service was excellent, would highly recomend. I had vegetable samosa for starters, and Zeera vegetable for mains, absolutly lovely.

Great food. Great flavour. I've been with cinnamon spice for years. We brought the same meal from elaichi and it was so much better. Loved it.

Really brilliant food on our most recent visit. Something brilliant is happening in the kitchen. Having eaten at many a superb curry house, this place is really starting to shine. Service as always is impeccable, extremely reasonably priced and you get to take your own booze, with a negligible corkage charge. Top notch.

Interesting. Nice restaurant, good atmosphere. Good poppadoms and pickles. I ordered the sag paneer as a main course with pilao rice. Rice was a bit bland, the curry was made with cream and underspiced. Very bland and disappointing. However, my wife had a daal with naan bread; the daal was very good, well spiced excellent texture. Good naan. I also ordered a roti which was good. So overall a mixed experience. It was a popular place, very busy for a Sunday evening so either my meal was an anomaly or just isn't the right thing to order at this restaurant.

If you’re recovering from surgery then this place is for you as it’s the most bland and mild ( at best ) curry I’ve ever encountered! I feel that they must not use chillies in any of the food we ordered, despite ordering dishes that are traditionally at least a little spicy! Disappointing in that way and the chips taste like McDonald’s, just with zero salt and their ‘curry sauce’ again tastes just like McDonalds. Two stars because their options for vegetarians are decent but like I said, if you like spice you will be disappointed. Garlic rice was decent.

We were lucky that we could go without a reservation. We had a very tasty meal, we thought it was absolutely worth the money.

Just popped in passing through. Been on weekend in Weymouth and on the way back to Wolverhampton. Food was amazing! Didn’t have time for starters but had poppadoms and main courses. Had korma, pathia, dhansak and a lamb dish. All fantastic. All so different and bursting with flavour. Chicken cooked to perfection. Good portion sizes. Garlic coriander Naan bread spectacular. Need to find a reason to come back. We eat a lot of curries but this was way better than anything we can get in Wolverhampton at the moment. Reasonable prices! Top marks! Thank you

Gestern Abend waren wir hier essen. Von außen sieht das Restaurant wenig einladend aus, auch der erste Eindruck drinnen war so lala. Das Essen und der Service waren allerdings hervorragend. Wir werden sicher hier nochmals essen gehen. 😊👍 Ach ja, es wird hier kein Alkohol ausgeschenkt. Allerdings kann man gegen Korkgeld seinen eigenen Alkohol mitbringen!

Delicious Indian food and great service. The only issue was that it was a bit hot in the restaurant.

We enjoyed our food here - everything was delicious and service was good though didn't seem to know as much about some dishes / drinks (maybe new staff, I wouldn't know). We missed lassi or chai - they didn't serve that at all which is a pity.

I’ve been visiting the Elaichi since 2003, always a quiet and demure place especially at Christmas. The food was always good. To be honest, the new decor is bright and invitation d the day we were there was packed. A lot if new staff since 2021 but a lot of local faces too. I had a king prawn chilli masala which in the past has always been my go to curry, but tonight it was like watered down passata, tasteless and bland. Great service but too busy and trying to do too much. Concentrate on the sitting guests. I think they’ve sold out to new owners.

No alcohol licence but you can bring drinks in for a pound a head. Very nice food

I had the fish tikka curry and it was exceptional. Really traditional, I've travelled all over India and Asia ,it was tasty as hell! I a keema naan, something new and delicious also.

The BEST Rogon Josh I ever had in my life! The food is really fresh, portions are just right. Attentive and gracious service from Helen, I recommend this restaurant! Only problem is that there's no WiFi but that's not the end of the world. Excellent place to eat.

Our meal was delicious and there was so much to choose from. The staff were friendly and efficient. It was quite quiet when we were there so no buzz of conversation which actually suited us. Spotlessly clean.

I've been to more curry restaurants than most in my sixty years on the planet and this is my top five of all time. As locals my wife and I count ourselves blessed to have it five minutes' walk away and we eat there regularly. Brilliant cooking, fast friendly service, and always a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We have used this restaurant & takeaway quite a few times and up till now have been really good for either eating in or takeaway. Our last takeaway this week was inedible due to the ammont of salt. We ate the starter and poperdooms, but not the main course. We returned what was left the next day. We were kept waiting for a hour while they waited for the manager. The cost of the meal was £54 and they refunded us £25.20, they did offer to replace what was uneaten, but we felt that we had run around enough. They apologised, but the manager who we waited around for stayed out of sight. Will we return, the jury is out, we did not feel they did enough in this instance.

Delicious meal, good portions, very friendly smiling pleasant energy waiter. Also good vegetarian offer (quorn meat so tasty). We both were very satisfied and warmly recommend this place.

The best part was the delivery lady who was also a treat as she knew where i lived The satnav here goes to another address So i always expect cold food or a phone call Helen was awesome So i will be calling her for decor in the future stunning local lady The only thing i would say is i sat through the whole meal thinking there was no bhaji for the Prawn Puri which was delish it was in a plastic salad bag! So this will be my local now i have tried the two others but this was worth every penny! *******

We visited this restaurant on our recent trip to Glastonbury. The restaurant is very stylish, clean and the staff are all very polite and helpful. The food was of a very good standard and at a reasonable cost. Our meals were very tasty and generous portions. This is our third trip to this restaurant - its consistently good and we'll visit again next time we are staying in Glastonbury.

Being a foodie it's a delight to satisfy the gustatory system , the staff are friendly and happy to adapt their menu to specific dietary requirements or add more chilli to suit preferences. Alcohol isn't sold here but they charge a small corkage fee and one can bring their own drinks. One of my favourite eating houses in Glastonbury.

Rather lousy food. Garlic naan comes with a awful paste on it. And you have to bring your own beer. Not recommended
