Embankment Kitchen Restaurant & Bar in Salford

Absolutely loved it here, the food was fantastic, wasn't expecting it to be this good after a couple of the reviews we read, but both our steaks(1 Fillet & 1 Rib Eye) were cooked to perfection and the Cheesy Tomato Garlic Bread was amazing, so tasty, would recommend upgrading the fries to the garlic and parmesan shavings as they were so tasty, I've also got to mention the service, absolutely outstanding by all, they couldn't do enough for us, all with a smile, best meal we've had in a long time, thanks

Avoid - a truly amateur venue, although they do very good cocktails. The food was awful, especially when you look at the prices they charge, would love to know what they think elevated means. When complaining about the coffee being wrong, the waiter answered ' I don't know, I just press the button on the machine'🙄 Sticky toffee pudding served with chocolate sauce, very elevated! Will not be going back.

The staff were friendly but were slow and waiters took long to tend to our table. The food was good and lovely Christmas music was playing the whole duration of our brunch.

Lovely place to stay but the highlight was the beautiful drinks made by Harriet! They were perfectly made and tasted delicious. Such great service from her and held wonderful conversations with us throught our visits to the bar. Thank you for making our stay so welcoming

Went for breakfast as it was included in the price. Would not recommend or pay for it! Sat us down in the most awkward spot on a long seat squeezing in between people eating breakfast. Service was terrible, didn't even explain how the menu works. People were waiting to even get served around us including us. Took us 15 mins to get served and 45 mins altogether to finally get the food (15 mins before check out) Finally brought the wrong drinks. Then the wrong food. Food was absolutely lovely but the service and seating was terrible.

Had a lovely evening with business colleague for a bite to eat and drinks while staying at CitySuites. Elliot our server looked after us and offered good service and good chat. My martini made by Matt the barman was so good I ordered another. Good place to come to try the menu.

Really disappointed with our experience at The Embankment. They didn’t have the menu item that we wanted in stock. The food took 45minutes to arrive. The chateaubriand was quite small, and only came with one single portion of chips to serve 2 people (yet was £75). The sausage pasta looked mid-tier; the sausages were even crumbled properly, just split into thirds really. The halibut dish wasn’t the best either; good size fish, but the ‘potato fondant’ was really just 3 new potatoes the size of a pound coin each; the butternut squash I ate in one mouthful; and the tenderstem on top was cold. £175 in total for those mains plus a few drinks (service charge included). I won’t be returning. It’s a shame, as the menu itself looks really nice.

Elliot was awesome! His wine knowledge is amazing. He looked after us all evening and was friendly, helpful and efficient.

Service was great. Had the lovely Elliott as our server. Food was great, had a pizza and two sides, roast potatoes and sprouts. They happily gave me a side of gravy 😁

Stayed in City Suites for a couple of days on business and ate in the restaurant a couple of times. The food was incredibly good and special mention for the lamb and date scotch eggs! Izzy looked after me so well when eating alone, her ambience and attention were brilliant and completely in-keeping with the excellent service we’d had during our stay.

Embankment Kitchen’s buffet breakfast was an absolute highlight during our stay at CitySuites 11! From the moment we walked in, the setting was inviting and elegant, creating the perfect atmosphere to start our day. The buffet spread was impressive, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options to suit every taste. There was a fantastic selection of both hot and cold items. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and there was a great choice of sides like crispy bacon, sausages, and roasted vegetables. The pastries were fresh, flaky, and tasted homemade, and there was a selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereals for lighter options. My husband and I were particularly impressed with the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail in each dish. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed and keeping the buffet well-stocked. The coffee was excellent, and we never had to wait long for a refill. Overall, Embankment Kitchen made breakfast a memorable part of our stay, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality buffet breakfast in a comfortable and stylish setting!

Had an amazing meal in here this weekend with my wife and our daughter. The food and staff were just brilliant and made us so welcome

Absolutely disappointed with the change on the menu at breakfast, usually it’s one main and two sides with unlimited drinks but since this change it’s one main or six sides. You cannot have the two together and if you do, there’s a charge of £5 for two sides, which I think is ridiculous. Usually I have two poached eggs on toast for my main and a chocolate croissant and a strawberry yoghurt for the two sides, which I think was reasonable for the amount people are paying for bed and breakfast.

£20 for a set breakfast is still a little steep but the staff were amazing so probably worth it. The food was very tasty. I had eggs royal which probably shouldn’t be served boiling but I was expecting the eggs a little warmer, it was a tad cold overall.

I recently visited Embankment Kitchen for their 5th anniversary promotion, which boldly advertised that all EK drinks were £5. However, this turned out to be a blatant case of false advertising. The menu clearly stated “EK drinks turn 5” for happy hour, but when the bill arrived, I was charged full price for the drinks. It turns out only the “EK Favourites” were included in the promotion, not the “EK Signatures.” This misleading promotion is unacceptable and feels like a deliberate attempt to deceive customers. Such practices are not only unethical but could also be grounds for a legal complaint. I strongly urge Embankment Kitchen to rectify this issue immediately and ensure their promotions are transparent and honest in the future. I will not be returning unless significant changes are made and I strongly recommend you to not go to this restaurant either.

Good food but exceptional staff. This our second stay at City Suites Manchester and on both visits we have eaten at their in house restaurant Embankment Kitchen. The food is good but really the reason for this review is just the sheer excellence of the waiting staff and in particular the amazing young woman at front of house. Each morning she juggles a very busy dining room ensuring everyone is greeted warmly, seated as promptly as possible and if you do have to wait gets you a table as quickly as possible. However she also seems to be on the look out at all times for any diners who might require something or may be are waiting too long for something, she checks in with you despite having a room full of diners. She is extremely professional in the way she goes about her job. This is true of her male counterpart as well who was so helpful when we stayed last year. Well done & thank you.

Consistently amazing service on every visit. Front and back of house handle a very busy breakfast, lunch and dinner service with ease. Thanks so much for the special touch with bday cake for my mother.

I had the pleasure of going to the Embankment Kitchen for drinks this afternoon! We had the Emmeline and it was fantastic - made with local ingredients, and delicious! Thank you especially to our server Emmy who was friendly, helpful and gave us a fantastic experience! We will be back!

We got the caveman feast sharing platter for £80 and it was absolutely amazing. For the quality and portions you can’t complain for the price. Something really different and unique

Came in and asked how long food would take as I had somewhere of be and was told the food would take 10 minutes. 40 minutes had went past and nothing had been brought out so I asked to take away instead. When I opened the takeaway box the bread was burnt, the serving of the baked beans was for a 2 year old there was barely anything. Scrambled egg was mushy. I was extremely disappointed and this definitely ruined my stay.

We made a late reservation and weren't disappointed, our waiter Elliott gave us some great advice, and we ordered the Lobster & Salmon Linguine. It was absolutely stunning looking on the plate, and tasted delicious. We offered our compliments to the chef, and promised ourselves a return visit.

Currently sat here - So far waiting 50 minutes for breakfast, ordered drinks that have still not arrived after 50 minutes! You can’t say your a 5* hotel and have this service at breakfast. This is our third day here and it’s the same situation everyday. If you can’t serve the hotel capacity, why don’t you make it booking only?? This way you can organise how many people come into the restaurant and have it at equal times for your kitchen. This is hospitality basics from a low level. This would make it better for both your guests waiting and the staff who are rushed off their poor feet by managing too many people. Update: The table next to us waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for their food (we ended up waiting a similar time). They also have 2 small children who have not been fed. The waitresses response was that they are kind people and that people have been waiting longer and have been here since 10:30am - it’s currently 12:35. You expect people to wait 2 hours for breakfast? The man asked what they can do about it and the server walked away.

This hotel did not charge us and accepted the criticism that follows well. For this reason we rate it a 5 star. For an upper class hotel kitchen, unfortunately this one lacks in several departments. There are no table numbers for one, so apart from the long wait for food, the staff constantly walk around tables asking if they have ordered x drink or x food. None of them know the table that ordered what. This was consistent and happened through the entire breakfast service interrupting guests. The food is mediocre. Not bad but not great. We ordered 2 full English breakfasts. The beans were skinned over and the poached eggs slightly undercooked to the point where the egg white was still very much goo. Good sausage and hashbrowns. Overcooked bacon. Neither of us wanted to finish our breakfasts although we have had worse in the past. We wouldn't come back for breakfast. It's not worth the almost 20 pound each for what we got. The drinks were great, coffee was very nice. And you can order as many as you like which ALMOST makes up for the disappointment of the food. But not quite. 3.5 out of 5 rating. This hotel needs table numbers, better trained staff and a chef who knows how to poach an egg.

Had a full English breakfast and eggs royal. Service was good but we were reminded a good few times we could only choose one thing each from the continental. Food was average at best. Poor ingredients which was obvious, hollandaise sauce on eggs was not nice at all and both meals luke warm. Not going to go again. Let's down the city suites apartments it is associated with.

My family and I were looking forward to are visit to the embankment kitchen to celebrate my sons graduation but found the staff lazy and not interested, myself and my wife had the duck served with frozen chips (supposed to be a potato rosti) which was way over cooked to the point it was inedible so I left most of it, my daughter had the carbonara which didn’t taste of anything and was swimming in grease and for dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding which was unbelievably dry and had obviously just come out of the microwave! In a city with so many great restaurants don’t waste your money at embankment kitchen!

We came for breakfast only. Ordered full English and vegan breakfast. What was my surprise when waitresses ask if I want to add the egg to vegan breakfast 😱. I’m not fussy and definitely aware that veganism is a personal choice, but in restaurant serving vegan meal I believe waiting staff should have basic knowledge, especially that breakfast is £20pp. Breakfast itself was okish but not worth the price. Well we learn from mistakes.

A beautiful breakfast, and the service from Katelyn was excellent.

This was the perfect spot for pre dinner and drinks before we headed to a show at the AO arena which was a very short walk away. We shared the seafood platter which was delicious and drank nice wine along with espresso martini cocktails which were made to perfection by the mixologist. We would also like to say an extra thank you to Nathan who was so friendly and looked after us adding to such a brilliant evening. We will definitely be back! Thank you :)

Ella provided exceptional service to me and my friends. It’s so hard to come across good customer service these days and she absolutely surpassed that! I would come back just because of her!

Stayed at city suites for 2 nights which included breakfast and dinner at Embankment kitchen and bar. The service and food were faultless, staff were friendly and very helpful and nothing was too much. Excellent choice of food for breakfast and dinner, you wont be disappointed. Will recommend and if I'm back in Manchester I'll be coming back.

Beautiful food and lovely service. We arrived just as they opened at 5pm so was quiet at first but picked up soon. Had the parmesan fries and ham croquettes for starters and then the beef brisket pie and lobster tagliatelle for mains. The portions were generous and the food was very tasty and well made. I was very surpised with the amount of lobster in the tagliatelle dish actually, usually with such dishes you'd be lucky to get 2-3 small bits but this had plenty of big chunks, I was very pleased with that! We finished off our meal with the brownie for dessert which was yummy! Gooey, nutty and chocolatey. So overall, the food was excellent, the potions were good, and the staff were friendly and helpful, can't fault it really. Would recommend and would love to come back!

First night of my first visit to Manchester and we picked this restaurant purely for proximity to our hotel. Well I'm very glad we did! The food and drinks were lovely and would thoroughly recommend but what made our night was the the service we had from our wonderful waiter Nathan. He was fun, friendly and very knowledgeable and a credit to the restaurant. We'd go back again on a heartbeat if he was going to be serving us.

Had breakfast in here twice and absolutely loved it. Staff were really friendly and happy to help. Were were seated quickly and had orders taken without delay. Food was a little slower in the Sunday morning with a busier restaurant, but still wasn’t too long. Food was amazing produce and great sized portions. I would advise booking as it gets busy.

Arrived at 5:15pm before going to see Peter Kay at 8:00pm. l Setting was good and we were served first drinks promptly. We then had to wait over an hour for our next round which, when they did the cocktails were warm and the ice had melted. Starters were ok but the main course didn't arrive until 6:45. The quality was awful, some of the worst food I have ever had. My daughters pulled pork ragu was inedible, the chicken burgers were very basic with small pieces of chicken. You would be disappointed if this was served at a football match not here for £20 a serving. Probably the worst thing was that our dirty plates and glasses were never cleared. We were clearly not alone as all the tables around us were not happy too. The only thing that was ok was the bottle of Gavi but even that took the waitress 10 mins top open! I have never left a restaurant without paying but this experience pushed me very close.

Booked a table for 6pm for a date. After 5 mins wait, we were seated at 5.50pm. We then sat at the table until 6.30 when a lady came over to take our food and drink orders. 15 mins later a couple sat next to us and their drinks order was taken right away. 5 mins later the same lady returned and asked if our drinks were the other couples order. We said no and she then asked the bar staff to start their drinks. At this point we had been at the restaurant over a hr, with no water on the table and over 20 mins since a drink was ordered. We requested to cancel our meal and left. The wait staff did apologise and I appreciate it was not their fault. The whole system seems slow and people were sitting, eating and almost finished before we were even served. Disappointed is an understatement

Dined here on Saturday, not the best in all honesty. I do always try and leave a fair review. After waiting 45 minutes for our starters - I had the fritters to start, they were tasteless and borderline burnt, my partner ordered the focaccia and olives (it was regular bread .. Not focaccia) I had the cod for my main, it wasn’t fresh, slightly chewy? There were no ‘fish flakes’ - I’m sure I don’t need to explain what that means, my partner had the chicken with the gnocchi, he wasn’t impressed! It wasn’t the worst meal of my life and luckily we eat out twice a week, but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.

The atmosphere is lovely. The staff are helpful and nice. The food was fantastic; we ordered pepperoni pizza, pizza Al pesto with prosciutto and fries. The fries were a bit too salty though. I recommend the restaurant 👍🏻

Extremely slow drinks service at peak times. Ended up filling our water glasses in the bathroom after I was sent away by the bar counter. Wrong drinks finally arrived, without requested water, well after the food. And were challenged upon leaving as bill showed unpaid (it wasn't). Staff and systems seemed overstretched with hotel orders. Food was fine and atmosphere could have led to a great experience.

We booked the Embankment for a preshow dinner and arriving at 5pm we thought we'd have plenty of time to leave by 7pm. The staff were friendly there was a good atmosphere and the food was excellent, however the service was appallingly slow. We arrived at 5 and were served quite quickly. Starters arrived reasonably promptly but then we don't know what happened. Tables who arrived after us were on main courses and there was no sign of ours. We finally got our main course at 6.15 but that left s no time to have a pud without rushing so we had to leave without which was a shame.

Wow wow Ella made our experience amazing. She was the happiest, jolliest server I have ever had, she really is a gem! The food options are amazing, especially the gluten free options, which include pizza! We ordered a bottle of wine, but I fancied a spicy margarita (this wasn't on the menu) but Ella asked the bar to make one and she even came over to check it was as expected! I also dined in January whereby I enjoyed the 40% off and again, I was not disappointed at all. I would certainly return to celebrate a special occasion, as I feel its more luxurious and more expensive than a mid week option.

Dined recently with friends after visiting Manchester for the day. Took advantage of the 40% off January offer. Both my friends had the homemade pie with a side of braised cabbage, and I had the cod loin on a bed of linguine. The pies were delicious and full of meat. Unfortunately, the linguine was full of chilli's, and they were a little overpowering to the fish dish. For dessert, I ordered the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Nice light and fluffy sponge and tasty vanilla ice cream. Staff were attentive until we asked for the bill. After waiting 20 minutes with the bill no one came back to the table to take payment, so we went to the till to pay. Asked to split the bill by what we had to eat and drink, and the waitress said it couldn't be done, it could only be split into thirds. Said okay, remove the service charge, and I worked and out what everyone owed in my head with the discount so we could pay separately. Also, sneaky, the 10% service charge is based on the original cost and not the discounted cost. What a palaver at the end of a meal. However, we all said we would return at full price.

Food wasn’t fresh. Chips were burnt. Waitress said “that’s how they usually come” but later apologised. Must say this was the second time I’ve been and the first time the food and service was much better. May have just been an off night.

飯店付的早餐應該是馬虎的，結果這家的早餐餐點是超級不馬虎⋯⋯第一次吃到這麼好吃美味的德國香腸，肉質是水嫩的；咖啡可以而已呀，培根不乾扁，有鮮肉的感覺；兩顆水煮滑蛋飽滿新鮮；蕃茄黃豆能吃到黃豆的新鮮，不簡單喔⋯⋯ 這次飯店的早餐，是我住過的飯店，最令人滿意的一餐…..超級推薦…..

For us it is the best restaurant in Manchester. I always come with my husband and the always is incredible. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and the local is very good. We really love this restaurant.

Absolutely delicious, great value (40% off food in January), great wine selection, knowledgeable waitress, lovely environment. I had the tempura prawns with a New Zealand Sauvignon blanc, and the beef burger with bacon and cheese, and Parmesan truffle fries, with a Mougeottes Pinot noir, followed by winter fruit crumble and ice cream YUM!

Beautiful interior and food, the waitresses were very kind and delivered food in great time, made my mum have a very special day.

Lovely food with great service and a relaxed atmosphere.

I was staying in the Premier Inn (Printworks) which is just across the road (6sec walk). The restaurant decor outside & inside is stunning and comfortable. The staff are friendly and very professional. Joyce who was my server who was amazing, very polite and friendly. For starters I had the Honey, Garlic & seasame chicken wings and they was delicious. For main I had Rump steak & I’m not a fan of chips so I asked Joyce if I could swap chips for mash which was fine - I think where the restaurant wasn’t busy they was able to do this. I ordered the steak medium-rare and it was cooked to perfection, with garlic butter on the side it tasted like heaven. The mash was soft and creamy. I would highly recommend the two dishes above. I skipped dessert but I was honestly so impressed with this restaurant, food & staff. Please don’t skip pass, you won’t be disappointed. I am back in Manchester in just under two weeks and will be returning.

Very disgusted that instead of letting the customer decide whether to give a tip or not they cheekily take 10 percent service charge. What other profession do people get tipped or cheekily take it? Also I saw one waitress give me a dirty look when I asked a normal question. Not happy. Avoid.

I had a breakfast first time in Manchester, and I stayed at city suite for one night and I had a chance to have included breakfast and the staff at the restaurant was amazing great food,and specially one of the waiters was here Ella she’s one of the waiter’s she was super nice,I really enjoyed having breakfast at there. Thank you very much Ella:) definitely I’ll come back again!

We booked breakfast as part of our hotel stay. The service was good and the host friendly. Disappointingly we weren't asked if we wanted any further drinks than the first one we ordered. It wasn't clear from the menu that the bacon was smoked (it just said Streaky Bacon) and therefore extra salty, hence the need for extra drinks which we weren't offered. The mushroom just oozed water and lacked taste. The sausage was well cooked a bit too much for me. The poached egg was perfect and the bread tasty. The baked beans weren't for me as I'm a heinz girl. Overall the meal was disappointing - hubby enjoyed his. I ended up going across the road to the Sainsburys local and picking up a croissant. Not what I expected from our booking. I'd not recommend or book it next time we stay at City Suites.

Hosted dinner for group of 14. We had sharing plates for starters and then each had their own main course. The wines/ scotch and vodka was flowing and a good time had by all. Tip order drinks during happy hours and then park it for later. Great service and Dean who was in charge that Friday night was awesome

Amazing food. Varied menu. Lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Stayed for 5 nights for a sporting event had breakfast every morning and evening meal twice. Food was really good quality and the service was really good. Romario who was there for each breakfast was the most helpful and pleasant waiter I’ve seen in a long time. We would return again if only to receive the consistent standard of service offered by this establishment which is obviously by training and good selection of people rather than chance.

We were so fortunate to find this restaurant was part of the City Suites complex we stayed in. Manchester is awash with amazing restaurants but we ended up dining here twice. The reason being the food was excellent, reasonably priced and the service was amazing. Dean greeted us on our first evening and guided us through our first dinner which was delicious, as we were leaving he invited us back and we did a thanks but no thanks kind of response but after a busy following day we found ourselves looking for dinner at 9pm and returned for second time to be greeted warmly by Dean and after a short wait seated for a second meal. It was just as tasty and the service from everyone friendly & super efficient. Thank you Dean and the whole team.

Amazing breakfasts for an apartment hotel, excessive wait times considering the restaurant wasn’t busy.

Gorgeous setting and lovely food but the table service for breakfast is a bit chaotic. It’s one thing waiting for food but we had to wait almost half an hour just to get a glass of water and a coffee - breakfast was another 20 mins. Nice if you are not in a rush!!

Great restaurant. The beyond meat burger is recomm need, as is the seafood linguine. All well presented backed up by great service for a good price. Find yourself in this part of Manchester, it's well worth a visit.

This is only for breakfast. Other meals might be just fine. They are overwhelmed with two full hotel buildings. Served part after 20 minutes. Another 20 minutes to get the other persons. Coffees never received. Burnt eggs. It was kinda gross. Servers really trying but they were overwhelmed and quality suffers. We cancelled next two breakfasts though included in hotel price.
