I cannot doubt the quality of the food but this is an all time rip-off! The £85 tasting menu begins with three courses served on one plate for two to share where it is barely enough for one!! Then there are two deserts and the other middle courses are so minimal that you actually leave the table hungry!!! I also resent paying £49 for a bottle of wine which I Vivino'd and discovered I could buy it retail for £9.95!! Now that's an almighty RIP-OFF!!!

Terrible … £40 for a very small amount of food… thank goodness we paid for a ridiculous amount for somebread , waited half an hour for starters , £11 for a tomato Juice…… it you want a decent lunch go to the fish house on fistral…. Fabulous food… excellent valve for money …….. I would suggest all the staff at Emily Scott’s including Emily go there and learn how to give excellent valvefor money, fab food and coming away from needing nothing else to eat for the rest of the day

One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. The seafood taster menu was a culinary delight. A feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds with the use of fine examples of local Cornish produce. The service was excellent, relaxed and welcoming and not stuffy at all. Add the great ambience and the view from the restaurant it was a wonderful experience and one we hope to repeat again before too long. We wish Emily continued success at Watergate Bay.

Great location on the beach. Booked evening meal for sunset. Perfect. Location, service and food all top notch. Could not fault anything. Menu is fixed so you relax. Each dish tantalises the tastebuds. Wonderful. Special thanks to Carolina who worked her socks off but made us welcome. She showed great skill and professionalism and was the best of hosts. Highly recommended

This chef has decided to monetize her reputation in the short term and destroy her business long term. The move to the tasting menu is based on pure greed. There is NOWHERE NEAR enough food. The apps are a joke - bread and pardon peppers. The scallop is covered in OJ. The rest is fine but insufficient. Not worth the money

Our first visit to Emily Scott’s restaurant did not disappoint. The food was amazing, well cooked and presentation was outstanding . The staff were knowledgeable about ingredients used and items on the menu. The service, from when we arrived to when we left was just superb. The setting is just to die for with fabulous views out to sea at Watergate Bay

Fantastic setting over the beach at Watergate Bay. Our waitress was friendly and attentive - so good impressions before we began to taste the food! Starter choice was challenging - I opted for the Gurnard cured in vodka, sea buckthorn, blood orange and green chilli (all subtly complementing the fish) and RP chose Tempura of Halibut (delicious). We shared the Seafood Gratin main course (the fish was cod and sea bass) and followed with the Parfait with Passion fruit jelly for desert. All in all a memorable lunch at a very reasonable price for a meal of this quality (£39 per head for 3 courses).

You couldn't ask for a better location, right on Watergate Bay, but the welcome we received was non-existent, service seriously poor with no evidence of a manager anywhere. The food was OK when it eventually arrived. We'd been at our table for over 45 minutes before we had anything to eat. Clearly understaffed and coping badly with an averagely full restaurant, nobody thought to offer us maybe some bread to keep us going while the kitchen got its act together. Halibut tempura was quite good - six out of ten - but the 'seafood gratin for two' was mediocre, consisting mainly of halibut offcuts swimming in butter and breadcrumbs. The menu is extremely limited, making it all the more incomprehensible that it takes so long to deliver food to the table. This is yet another restaurant in Cornwall suffering from delusions of gastronomic superiority, entirely beyond anything it merits. Rick Stein recommended it, which I suppose in hindsight should have been warning enough. I live in Cornwall have really had it with it 'eateries' aping the southeast and their offhand ways. Won't be going back or recommending.

Visiting Emily Scott at Watergate Bay, last evening. Some of the best food we have had for a very long time. Good service, an amazing setting for a restaurant. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Booked Emily Scott’s well in advance to celebrate the end of our annual Cornish holiday . Arrived to find doors locked no notice ;it so happened that a kind member of the public informed us that it had closed due to COVID . We had not received any notification of the cancellation, and there was no notice on her website to suggest closure (although this vital information was neatly hidden away on the Watergate Bay website after further inspection). In this day and age of communication this is very poor ! Had we have been notified sooner we would have made alternative plans; of course at such short notice we could not make any alternative dinner reservations and it left me wishing I hadn’t cancelled Rick Steins ! All in all, I am thoroughly disappointed and expect better of a Michelin Star chef !! (As we did not get to experience the food, the venue or the service, this is deserving of 0 stars)

I’m used to having Rick Stein’s fish and chips at Padstow, which are really good. Not so at their restaurant at Fistral, Newquay. The fish portions are ridiculously small with lots of chips, even the chips were poor. My daughter had Scallops, they gave her three really small ones,on a tiny dish, just enough for a starter but not a main meal. The staff were very friendly though.

Sometimes it’s the small things !! That add up and make a business a big thing !! Thank You Rick Stein !! I know you’ve been in this place a long time !! But This week was my first time in Cornwall and your beautiful restaurant and team made our cold, wet and windy stay here worth it 🤣🤣from the minute we were greeted we were made to feel really welcome we were taken then to our table where we were handed over to a lovely waiter called Paul who talked us through the menu the specials and even more important the personal informative description on the wine list I had scallop to start presented attractively in a shell Piping hot and tasted beautiful !! My mains i chose the seafood curry of which I'm so glad that i did !! It was so delicate and tasty !! Came with Cocunut rice and side accompaniments !! Just perfection on a plate !! Then for desert i had the baked rice pudding there are no words other than OMG !! I could of eaten it again !! But i was stuffed !! Thank You Again !! I would recommend any one visiting padstow to try this quintessential english jem of a restaurant !! Its How all Top Restaurants Should do it 🙏❤️🙏 What a Team !! What a superb Restaurant xxx

Outstanding fish & chips. The medium fish is a little small for a growing lad like me, so opt for the large. Peas could do with being mushier.... Young Theo serving is a top lad 👍

My husband and I popped into eat as built up quite an appetite after our walk. It was midweek and around 2pm when we managed to get stated. Both my husband and I ordered fish & chips. Fast service with a very short wait, eaten and was out in just over 30 minutes. All felt very rushed, seating like being back at school and so noisy we couldn’t hear ourselves speak- all open plan with wooden floors. We did feel food was overpriced and food was ok.
