Empress Rooms in Doncaster

Went to the see the queen copy band show last the empress . It was as usual very organised. The staff are all extremely nice and very helpful The show was fabulous and so was the d j plying good music between and after the show . I would highly recommend anyone to visit this fantastic venue . The ticket prices are so reasonable and they include a meal if you want . That is great too I love going there and looking forward to the next visit .

We went to see the pet shop boys. It was a fantastic night. We danced most of the night. The staff are hard working and very friendly

Went to see a pantomime here, jack and the bean stalk. My little girl really enjoyed her self as well as us parents. Loads of choice of food and drink too, no complaints at all :)

Attended here for a well organised, well supported boxing event by the host boxing club. Staff were excellent at the premises, fantastic evening.

This place was the the right setting and place to have a sweet 16th birthday party they cattered to every ones need they had catering decorations and bar staff that are friendly and nice on there team that made the event run so smoothly defo recommended to any one having partys weddings birthdays and event , it definitely was the wow factor

Had an amazing night at the empress joining in with dame idas performance, what can I say it was a laugh a minute and the staff at the venue where very welcoming and attentive , was a lovely pint of lager too gotta say on of the best we have had . Really enjoyed our time we will definately be back .

I remember this venue from Northern Soul Event in the 70’s. It was aiways a great venue. And, since it’s reopened we have been several times and it is equally as good. No complaints at all and a great dance floor

This restaurant is top class both with service and the quality of food. I visited with two of my Grandaughters 10 and 6 and they demolished every bit of the food. We had poppadoms and pickles. They had Chicken tikka and I had onion bhaji. I followed with chicken Jalfrezi and they had Korma along with Garlic rice and Garlic and Onion Naan. Delicious

Came to see Brian Blessed and had a wonderful evening. Great little venue and I will have to keep an eye on what's on here.

Brilliant venue to host the amazingly entertaining Brian Blessed . We were looked after by all the staff there from start to finish and the lady who was the main co ordinator worked her socks off organising the attendees with photo taking with Brian etc really well . This was our first visit to the Empress Building and we weren't disappointed, great band playing all our favourite songs, good food and a fantastic atmosphere, looking forward to going back soon.

A little disapointed with our evening, the band were good, but had a break of 75 mins!!!! Where a mediocre disco started. Had tickets and no one checked them on arrival, we could have easily turned up and not paid as we came In and out of the venue a few times but still no ticket checks.

Went to see Spandau Ballet tribute. Excellent night cannot fault anything

What a lovely little venue! The Duran Duran tribute were fab and we were all dancing! What a great night!

Fantastic venue great dance floor and helpful staff ... but the band was disappointing vocally the bench mark is Thor or Coyote so after the build up this level was what was expected. Also the intrim music was mixed we expected full on Rock. After saying all that the evening did seem to be enjoyed by all so maybe my expectations were too high.

Been to a few events here enjoyed every one I've been to love the springy dance floor it was used as a dance studio when I was younger

An excellent little venue ran by very pleasant staff. Our first time here to see Duran, so good to have these types of venues up and running and great to see them being supported by many people. We won tickets in a competition run by the Empress Ballroom in Mexborough to see a Duran Duran tribute. We had never been here before, so wasn't sure what to expect. We had an amazing time. The Empress Ballroom was spacious, the staff lovely & they served Cruzcampo a win for me. The show was great, we were in a group of 4 & we all enjoyed it very much. The icing on the cake was winning the first prize in the raffle, another 4 tickets for a future show of our choice so we will look forward to going back soon xx

We enjoyed our evening. Apart from when a member of staff opened the big doors and let the cold air in. Because of this we had to leave before the end of the night. The Adel Tribute act was very entertaining and friendly. And I enjoyed the pie and peas. The only down side was the fact that the door was opened

We have been to three Northern Soul events at The Empress Rooms, Mexborough and each time we've had a great experience.

Thanks to Jemma and the team for great service during the daytime disco. Drinks were swift, the toilet paper topped up mid-session, and to top it off, they kept my handbag safe until I came back to claim it. Thanks a million!

I had an issue receiving my tickets for an event sent a message to the Empress had a quick response from Jemma who solved the problem and issued my tickets.

It was a great place, so welcoming and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be visiting over and over again.

Really nice place we really liked it there and will go back soon.

Friendly welcome amazing food! Popped into here after seeing the reviews and I am so glad I did. As a solo female diner when away for work I really appreciate being seated in an area that is quiet and not in the main area. I was offered a table of my choice by the manager owner and ordered a drink. The menu is extensive and so varied. I order a delicious mild chicken dish with a peshwari naan. I absolutely loved every mouthful- the chicken was so tender and the sauce was aromatic. Bread was also light and tasty. Shame I do not live in the area as this would be my fave place to eat. Lovey chat with the manager and I wish them all well.

Fantastic menu selection, something for everyone's taste - fruity, spicy, mild, hot. Staff friendly, good service.

Friendly staff, good menu and excellent food. Some unusual dishes; I have not had rhubarb in a curry dish previously but will certainly order again. Recommended and I will definitely visit again when passing.

London prices for drinks in Mexborough venue. I know everything has gone up in price, but £10.80 for 2 lagers is astounding. My relative had a party and they agreed on a price for the buffet, later they informed my relative the price had increased (due to cost of living) by £150, which they cannot do once a price has been agreed. Myself as a caterer viewed the food and was disgusted with the amount for the price they paid. I could have done a bigger buffet for about 300 less. They don't allow outside caterers, hence the reason I didn't do it. £1,000 is diabolical, won't be returning any time soon

Tables & floor were sticky, Ladies toilets left a lot to be desired. Actual toilet pans were reasonably clean, floor clean in middle but god knows when sides/edges were cleaned. Sinks were grubby & hot water taps on all 3 sinks were impossible to turn on, soap dispensers were empty, so a quick swill in cold water was all. No paper towels, & hand dryers so weak it would have taken 20 mins to dry your hands. Ended up drying my hands on my jumper/ jeans. Not impressed.

I have never had a night like it. Saw Brian Blessed here and roared with laughter. Decent amount of free parking really close by. Friendly staff and they give great value for what they put on. The folk who run the Empress are obviously passionate about it and managed to arrange a top evening. All I can say is GORDON'S ALIVE!!!

Great little venue and you can tell the team really care about making sure the venue serves the community. We saw Brian Blessed there which was great.

First time and probably last. Nothing wrong with the venue, or the person who I went to see. But crammed in and unable to sit relaxed with people having to squeeze past to get to their seats, toilet and bar. Oh and given plastic drinks vessels. 😞

First Time at Goa Spice Mexborough but won't be the last. Draft and king cobra was good. Food was excellent Bengal lamb was recommended by the owner Sham, and it was as he described the rest of our group had nothing but when do we come again. This is a clean and authentic restaurant and recommended to come and enjoy your special evening. You will not be disappointed.

We have been coming to Goa Spice since Sharm took over a couple of years ago. Shy asked us our names when we first visited and has remembered us every time we walk through the door. Their hospitality is first class treating everyone as extra special The food is very good. It’s the best place to eat in Mexborough. 5 stars all round.

The food was very nice, but other areas need a lot of work. We had poppadoms to start, was half way through when a waiter came over to ask if we were ready for our mains, with mouthfuls of food we advised we were still eating our starter. Then we ordered some more drinks, my partner just asking for a single Malibu as she still had half a bottle of coke from the first order, they brought a fresh coke, wasn’t required so declined it. The mains were nice, very enjoyable. But we felt rushed from start to finish. The bill came but we’d been over charged for our drinks, we had a feeling we would be charged for the unwanted coke, and we were, plus another few quid they couldn’t work out what it was for. £21 for 2 pints, 2 single Malibu’s and a small bottle of coke would be alot even if we’d been in London! Overall, the food was nice, but the service needs improvement and who ever works the bill out needs a few more maths lessons.

We collected a takeaway . Very friendly chap on reception . Order was ready within minutes . Piping hot . We chose two chicken curries, naan and rice .Plenty for two people to share Tasty and well presented with fresh lemon, lime and coriander garnish . Will go again .

We tried goa spice for the first time last night as it had good reviews and were not disappointed. The venue has kerb appeal, welcoming staff and, despite not having booked and there being a party of at least 20, we were offered a choice of tables. Served quickly by friendly attentive but not annoying staff who despite being quite young were superb and had good knowledge of the dishes. Well priced good food, will definately be going back.

Visited Goa last Thursday 19th with three colleagues all anticipating a down to earth good balti and we weren’t disappointed. Great quality food at reasonable price accompanied by good service and a welcome. Hope to revisit

Another lovely meal at Goa Spice Mexbrough I was joking with one of the owners Sharm( excuse spelling) .. he swayed me off our usual Chicken Tikka Masala, to a Goa spice version… Whilst it was nice , I preferred our usual version At which point, he turned up with the sauce from the one we normally order( no charge) … a good laugh and joke set the atmosphere for a good night I would recommend anyone to eat here Service second to none Priced reasonably and Ice cold Cobra Lager on draught Thank you once again Steph and Paul Hinks

My husband is a massive fan of Indian food so we have eaten at many different restaurants. Goa spice is by far our favourite, I have had the majority of the menu and never had a meal that hasn't been 5 stars out of five. The staff can't do enough for you, the price is reasonable and the Wednesday/Sunday offer can't be missed. By far the best Indian restaurant in the area.

I was visiting family and they said they have been to Goa Spice for a curry previously and that it was EXCELLENT! They do an offer on Wednesday and Sunday evenings when you can have a curry, starter and poppadoms for £12.50. We went on a Sunday night and the place was quite busy but not too hectic. the waiters were all really friendly and courteous and made us feel very welcome. The food really did live up to the hype and I had the Mexborough Rhubarb Special which was tasty. Highly Recommended and the reviews on trip advisor back this up!

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Usually have takeaway, but decided to call in first time as friends birthday. Cobra on draught. Food expertly prepared. A wide range of flavours and heat levels to choose from. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout. I personally had the Mumbai chicken, with pilau rice and cheese/garlic naan - just about finished it 👍 Everyone else raved about their own food and how great it was Owner/manager (sorry forgot to ask name) gave us each an Irish creme shot on the way out 😁 Will easily be dining in more often. By far the best food around, wether it’s eat in or takeaway, the service is the best bar none. Eating in the staff are polite & efficient & on takeaway delivery always smart & pleasant.

Went for meal Sunday evening had the buffet, not coz I'm tight ,it gives you a chance to savour dishes that you perhaps wouldn't normally try. Must say good portions, tasty food and most of all great service. Would recommend.
