The most basic food ever. Saw this place from the outside and it looked really nice; the location has so much potential but the food ruins it, some of it was definitely freezer stuff and drinks were not good either (and no cola??? Come on). Will not go back

Lovely food and big portions we go for the gluten free menu as it has plenty of options. We like the farmer Johns atmosphere and layout. The staff are always professional friendly and knowledgeable and happy to help. The only reason I didn’t give full stars was because of the price it cost us close to £100 for a meal drinks and puds for a family of 4 and that was with a 30% off mains. We can’t do that very often!

There was a little kids disco for the new year on in the afternoon. Brilliant idea for our kids who loved it! All the staff were great and helpful too

My partner's family booked a private room but the atmosphere of the pub and the room itself was lovely. Staff were brilliant, accommodating and great help with everything. A lovely family friendly pub/restaurant and would definitely go again. My only complaint is I wanted more of the festive macaroni cheese lol!

2024 Update: 2 Years later and still an exceptional Christmas dinner. Booking for 8. Exceptional service, food hot, of a good standard and plentiful. Three courses delivered to the table all the at same time, without any fuss. The food was of a good standard, hot and plentiful. We loved the welcoming atmosphere and the way we were looked after. Thank you, we will be back soon.

Food was lovely and staff did brilliant

Nice pub, food and staff. Meal was totally ruined by selfish unruly kids and their gormless parents. I asked for a quiet table as my sister is disabled and struggles with mobility. Got seated next to a huge table with parents and kids, who were standing up right next to our table, shouting to each other, phones ringing etc etc. No respect whatsoever for other diners, they weren’t little kids they were around 12/13 so no excuse just pure ignorance. It’s a shame as the pub is accessible and local.

Unfortunately the Christmas 3 Course meal was awful. Turkey even though good portion was tasteless & dry. The vegetables were frozen & not fresh which is what we should have had. So disappointing & won't be paying 67.99 again. You have to know what you are doing to cater for Christmas.

Booked months ago for Christmas Dinner. Asked to pre-order and pre-pay and at this time asked for 2 special requests (no salmon on starter and no stuffing on main) neither was acknowledged. 2 x Pate started were served, one completely fine the other was off, smelt disgusting and tasted worse. Manager exchanged for another one (after trying it - to make sure I was telling the truth I assume) and that one was not as bad but was definitely not right. Appreciated the offer of a different starter, which I refused so was offered a free drink which I happily accepted. Now for the main. Very very disappointed. Turkey was good, broccoli rock hard, sprouts soggy, carrots dirty, Yorkshire pudding was like trying to cut through a mattress! Not sure if was because we had a later booking and wasn’t actually served our food until about 4.45 and we just had the heated up leftovers but for a Christmas dinner it was shocking really. Desserts were nice though. Really disappointed in the whole thing as eaten here quite a few times and always had a good meal hence why we chose here for Christmas dinner.

I had booked for Christmas dinner, I left it quite late so had limited options available on where to go. I wont lie the menu to me did not look very appetising and even after paying the initial deposit I was on the hunt for elsewhere. However, I'm so glad we never found anywhere else. The food was amazing and piping hot!!! Presentation was lovely. Every member of staff we encountered was so polite considering they had give up their Christmas day so we could have ours without the stress of cooking. Perfect team at Farmer Johns and I do hope the manager knows how lucky he/she is. Keep up the good work

We arranged a family gathering for Christmas in the private room sadly not everyone attended due to illness but we still enjoyed our time there as it was out the way of the main restaurant ,our grandad was not very well either so he appreciated the private space , all our food was lovely too , the staff was amazing very helpful and cheerful , we will definitely be booking again in April for another family gathering for a 40th birthday and hopefully everyone will attend to enjoy the experience , thank you

This used to be a 2 for 1 restaurant but meals are now charged per person, which I feel offers better value, especially if there is an odd number of diners. Single diners were previously offered a free pudding, but sometimes the main course was enough. 4 of us visited for lunch last Friday. We were greeted by a most pleasant and friendly lady (Amy), who said she’d give us a few minutes to study the menu, when she’d return to take our order. I went to the bar for our drinks and Amy thoughtfully brought them to our table. I had the smaller portion of cod, chips and peas, and found it more than adequate, and reasonably priced. As our friends live at Streetly, we visit Farmer Johns fairly frequently, and have never had a poor meal. The recent changes to the menu and pricing structure, to my mind, are improvements.

Lovely atmosphere yesterday, was busy but this did not affect the service in any way. We ordered surf and turf, mixed grill, fish and chips and the festive burger. All plates were empty and nothing was left. Steaks cooked to perfection, lovely big piece of fish and the festive burger was so good with the Brie on it! Staff very welcoming and friendly from the bar staff, waiting staff and the Manager. Everywhere was clean, including the toilets even though it was very busy! Only 1 bar staff on, ordered on the app, after 20 minutes drinks were poured and left on the counter, gave it another few minutes and collected them myself in the end. Took almost as long as the food did which had only a handful of choices available to order from.

Lovely atmosphere, good food at good prices and friendly helpful staff.

We were served by a really friendly guy called Craig. Really chatty and couldn't do enough for us.

Food was lovely, although couple of orders were came out wrong, but soon rectified. Staff attentive. We go same every December to all get together as a family. Only gripe this year other than the couple if wrong orders is the tables were dotted about,and not set out like they have been the previous times we have been . We like to sit together, also the floor could have done with a sweep/vacuum. All in all, we enjoyed out meals/drinks and we will be back same time next year. Merry Christmas to you all xxx

Standard pub grub with table service. Ale lines are always being cleaned so not available. Frequent 30% offers makes the prices more reasonable.

Staff were very good and attentive especially Craig was making sure everything was ok and taking our drinks orders -did bill separately which made it easier for 7 of us paying. Very good service by all staff.

We had a family get together and have driven past the pub a couple of times the last few weeks and thought it looked very welcoming and clean. We booked a table on the off chance and were not dissapointed. From entering to leaving the experience was excellent. Bar staff, servers were polite and nothing was too much trouble. The meals were presented nicely and exactly as described the food was beautiful and we had a gluten free and vegetarian amongst the party who commented that their food also was spot on! Drinks were brought to the table and overall we will definitely be returning and also recommending. Bonus was it sold banks ale which is a plus point finding it somewhere that sells it for the family

The food was okay, the atmosphere was okay, if a bit noisy. I don't mind either of these two things at such a reasonable price. However, one of the points of eating out is to receive some sort of service. It was very hard to discern what the three young waitresses were supposed to be doing, other than blankly, wondering about at a leisurely pace. They certainly weren't focussed on keeping the tables, taking orders, the usual. Sadly, it feels like this establishment has chosen to outsource customer service to a QR code - Serve yourselves!

Really lovely meal out today at Farmer John's, Streetly. Two of us had the gammon. This was beautifully cooked. It was very tender and moist and not dry at all. My cousin had the beef lasagne and said it was by far the best she had ever had. The waitress, Hayley, was very welcoming, courteous and helpful. The service was very quick and the meal nicely presented.The setting was clean and comfortable and we didn't feel rushed at all. A most enjoyable experience.

Fantastic service by Nicola and Hollie. Meal was amazing, we went for the Rump steak and peppercorn sauce. Perfect evening, will be coming back.

Warm welcome when we first arrived by really friendly staff. Lots of choice on the menu and our food arrived extremely quickly and it was delicious.

We celebrated a friends catch up with the festive menu. We had a fantastic evening. The service was outstanding with excellent speed of service, pleasant staff & about four quality checks through the evening. We also loved the food, tasted great & beautifully presented. I have already recommended to my office work friends. I really feel that the service standards have dipped within hospitality in general, however you have maintained a really high standard. We found this place to be very average. The service was okay, but no better than that. The food was generally disappointing. My prawn cocktail consisted largely of lettuce with a smidgeon of prawn and sauce. The beef and ale pie was the poorest that i have had for a long while. Our friends come here regularly and seem to enjoy it, but it is not for us

We ate here on a weekend late afternoon with friends. Exceptional value even without the voucher we used. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the service was great. We will definitely return in the near future.

Food was lovely... table serves, extra bonus and staff was friendly. Would reccomend. Don't have the steak, my mom had the rib eye and was all fat. Got two free desserts out of it thou!!!

I went here with my nan and my uncle we all ordered a pinte of Pepsi the glasses came and me and my nan both found lip marks on the top of the glass directing too someone before us drinking out of this and the staff not cleaning the glasses properly, we used straws to get over it. Me and my nan and uncle all ordered a burger but honestly it exceeded my expectations rhe food was absolutely amazing

Visited farmer John a first time for drinks with friends, everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Quick mention for Ciara and Dom who served us they was friendly and helped us with drink recommendations. Ten ten place.

Had the surf and turf the steak was tasteless apart from the taste of the grill on the outside the rest had no flavour at all 🫤.

Came for a meal yesterday with my family. Food was great and the server isabelle was lovely, polite and made sure our visit was perfect. I will definitely come again

Went for a meal Saturday 26/10/24 at 7.15, service was good when we arrived, but had to ask someone to order dessert. I had the flatbread with kebab meat, which was very hard and crispy this was over cooked in my opinion, when I cut it, it shot across the table and landed on my friends plate. Luckily she had finished her meal. Been many times, and this was the first time I had this meal. Very disappointed 😞

We were very well looked after by Jess and her team they were very attentive and helpful they went above and beyond to make sure everything was right with our meal well done Jess 👏 👌👌

When we arrived the system wasn't loaded on the computer, so they couldn't see our booking. the young girl walked us to the only 2 table in there in the dog friendly section which was under the Tv and next to the toilets. I requested a 3 seats on the bookings which the girl said 'well I suppose you can sit over there as you can't sit next to the window as you have a dog.' We have sat there before when it's busy with a dog. Seems like when it pleases you, you will sit us anywhere with a dog. But when it suits us you won't allow it. Once seated at a different table there was no one asked us if we wanted a drink whilst we look at the menu for 15 min so we ended up walking out. We will not be back. If you don't want to be dog friendly then don't be.

Our visit was very disappointing. I've lived in the area for many years and always known Farmer John's as the premier pub in the area. My partner and I finally went there last night and we were shocked! The greeter wore nothing to indicate she even worked there. Our waitress came over straight away to get drink orders and asked if we were ready to order,which we weren't because we only just sat down. We made our decision on what to order, but no more waitress. We had to go find here to give our order. When she came to take it, she was more interested in leaning on the wall and chewing her gum than anything we were interested in. Whilst the food was good (hence the '1' rating), we were never checked, and I finally had to go to the bar to pay since nobody was interested in us as a customer. Needless to say, we won't be returning. A true disappointment.

I had a party of four with me but had accidentally only booked for two. Nevertheless the pub managed to create a table for four of us with no hassle. The food was delicious, the service prompt, and with the 30% discount excellent value for money

We had a lovely meal at the Farmer Johns, just a shame the quality of service and rude staff let it down and ruined our experience. We waited for ages for our drinks order to be taken on arrival. We then waited even longer for our drinks and for a food order to arrive. When the food arrived, we had 2 small gravy boat to share between 5 people! We asked 3 or 4 times before anyone brought more gravy out to us. The main meal was delicious and filling, as were the desserts, just a shame no one bothered to ask us how our meal was… We then asked 4 times for the bill… 45 minutes later the bill was finally brought to us. The server asked if we needed the card reader and we said yes. ANOTHER 40MINS passed and in the end we were ready to walk out without paying. We went to the bar where we were seen by Martyn the main manager. We explained we had been waiting forever and a day for the bill and for our money to be taken, Martyn didn’t say anything. My mother stated are we not going to get an apology or anything? His reply was ‘oh I’m sorry about that, we’re busy’ in a very sarcastic way. He asked where we were sitting for him to reply with ‘how are you paying for this then?’. No formal apology, nothing! We have been to the Farmer Johns a number of times in the past and had received excellent food and customer service… it’s very disappointing to see this pub has gone right down the pan, including its staff and customer service! We will not be returning!!

Went for a family meal on sunday, food as fantastic, no realy wait for the food. Special mention to Leah, serviced our table with upmost attention, very much knew her stuff. Recommended the cowboy burger. Was an excellent suggestion. Wil be back again.

Lovely welcome as we arrived. Taken to our table and had the menu/ordering process explained. Once ordered the food arrived promptly. It was well presented and cooked. During our meal we were asked if everything was ok and could they get us anything to which we ordered another drink which was brought over to us. After eating the table was cleared fairly quickly. Nothing to complain about. Everything was perfect.

Fairly disappointed the venue looked nice but took ages to get served and the food was mediocre. Prices were about average. Drinks were not that great we ordered cocktails 2 for £11 and literally tasted like pop no alcohol at all. Sadly would not plan to visit again unless I was hungry and in the area.

Went for a late Sunday lunch and missed out on the roast chichen (they'd ran out), so opted for the large hand battered fish n chips instead. We'll, it was massive and extremely tasty. Add to that the really pleasant service and friendly atmosphere. I'll definitely dine here when I'm back in the area.
