We had a lovely meal here! Sebastin was exceptionally attentive and made our experience even better. All the meats were delicious, the salad bar was one of the best i've seen including smoked salmon! Finishing off with grilled pineapple was a welcomed treat!

Absolutely love this place! Food was amazing, had such a big selection on the buffet for 33 quid. all the staff are so friendly, and generous, especially Wilkson who really went over and above to be a great host. So happy to have discovered this Barnsley gem!

We had lunch here today and while quiet the meat still came out regularly and the service was amazing l, the gent serving us honestly couldn’t do enough for us and everyone else in the restaurant. We will be back again.

We last visited here for a leaving do 10 months ago but the place has changed for the worse. We went as a party of 5 last Fri evening and the place was just half full. Prices have gone up but the food quality has gone down. Firstly, 2 of us choose the salad bar option and at £20 the choice was poor. There were lots of cheese, pickles and bread to choose but hardly any choice of hot dishes, 3 out of 6 were just potatoes and rice. The all you can eat meat option wasn't much better, as the portions of meat served were the smallest slivers and for £34 you expect more. If you're after a disappointing meal which is terrible value for money, then this is the place to go. The only plus point was the lovely lady on the till when we went to pay.

We went on a Thursday so it was pretty quiet but there was still plenty of choice. The chefs made a point of regularly checking if there were extra things we’d like to have cooked, even after it was clear that we were being a bit greedy and taking more than we could eat. All the food was delicious.

Went there with my wife after looking for a place to eat meat. Some other restaurants at Gateway Plaza weren’t serving food anymore, on a Wednesday at 8 pm! That led us to Favela, and I didn’t regret it one bit! Good price for a classic Brazilian rodizio, where you can eat as much as you want! Rita and Wilkinson provided excellent service. We’ll definitely be coming back soon

Cannot ever explain fully how much we love this restaurant ❤️ perfect service at all times, excellent verity of both cold and hot food and the drinks menu is very inclusive to those who both can and cannot drink alcohol. We have enjoyed every time we have been here, regularly recommend to friends and family, and will continue to choose this restaurant for as long as it stays open!

When you travel for nearly 20 miles to get to a restaurant, you KNOW it’s got to be worth it. And Favelas hits every time. The meats are perfectly cut, seasoned and served. The salad bar ain’t just lettuce leafs and tomatoes, it’s a beautiful palette of authentic Brazilian foods. We’ve had many special occasions and gatherings here and Rita and the team NEVER disappoint. See you guys again soon 😋

Been to favela Brazilian grill a few times now and every time I get no disappointment. Really good, great quality meat on every slice of their delicious bbq. Really enjoyed today, we were in a group of over 40 people and everything was well organised to make us all comfortable. Thank you!

Great place to come to eat, amazing selection of cold buffet and top quality meats cooked to your liking. My only issue was that the meat was really salty, and some of the hot items on the buffet were actually cold, it seemed the heaters were not keeping them warm. Great staff and really friendly atmosphere though.

I went for my partners birthday and it was our first time going. It was a really great experience and we will definitely go again!! They even sung him happy birthday and got him a brownie with a candle which he loved. Customer service was amazing and the severs were lovely too!! The salad bar also had lots of options and the drinks weren’t badly priced either. Would definitely recommend 😊

From start to finish our experience was amazing! It was my daughter's 9th Birthday and you made her feel super special. We had a friendly greeting and were shown to our table by the host/bar manager. The selection of salad and sides was vast and the meats were plentiful and very tasty. Special mention to the chap serving the food Manuel (sorry if misspelt) he was super attentive and open to us suggesting what meats we would prefer. It was a Wednesday evening at the end of the school holidays so quiet but that can't be helped. The only criticism compared with when we have been before was that the selection of meats was maybe slightly smaller due to it being quiet, but when we requested certain things Manuel was happy to oblige xxxx Definitely be back soon, it's one of our favourite places!

Great restaurant, lots of choice on salad bar and lovely to have a ‘well done’ card for the hubby who doesn’t like pink steak. Not seen that anywhere before. Manuel was great bringing well done meats to us regularly. Overall lovely meal with friendly attentive staff

A wonderful time with the family. The food was exquisite. My 3 year old son also enjoyed the cheese. We all had a great time. Also, Manuel who served us was very nice.

Quite a nice place. They do though keep coming to you and not let you have enough time. They want to stuff you fast and not really try everything. But it was very clean and tidy but the toilets were far from the tables and upstairs.

This was our first time at the restaurant and won't be our last! The staff were very attentive and couldn't be more helpful, the food was amazing and cooked to perfection, there was such a wide variety & choice, the drinks were spot on too, we were stuffed to bursting when we left. I was very impressed with the fact that we got 2 bills - one with the service charge on and 1 without giving us the option to decide for ourselves should we wish to pay it, rather than having it forced upon us. Because of this and the excellent service we received, we paid the one with service charge on! Well done guys, keep up the good work.

FABULOUS FAVELA! What a hidden gem to have found in Barnsley. Set cost for meat or fish option but thoroughly worth every penny. Food was plentiful, fresh, beautifully prepared and the meat and fish delicious. Staff were friendly, engaging and gave exceptional service. Thanks in particular to Henry. Great selection for meat eaters, used to do halloumi which was great for vegetarians but seems to have stopped now.. Pasta dishes available on request which are all vegetarian. The staff are all very friendly and happy to accommodate differences in how you like your meat cooking. Salad bar has loads of variety

Best service ever. Sergio was the best waiter and it was my mums birthday. The chef and staff came to sing happy birthday to her! We gave Sergio 10£ and he even shared it with his colleagues!

Wanted well done meat. Everything was rare with blood in. Asked again for well done and was completely ignored. Never came back to our table. Rude staff. Was charged for the vegetarian option which we didn't have either. Only a small amount of salad. Almost £50!! Would never go again or recommend!

I rarely feel comfortable taking my daughter anywhere alone she is SEN and the looks we get make her worse. Not only do the staff here go out of their way to help both me and my daughter, they also cater to genuine allergies. This means that my mum can join us and this helps my daughter feel more relaxed. Their disabled toilet being actually restricted to those who are disabled helps me to avoid accidents too, overall I think the staff are amazing and those with disabilities (SEN or physical) can feel comfortable here and those with potentially fatal allergies like my mum can safely eat here without risk

I went to favela yesterday 16.3.2024 and customer service was awful, as soon as I got on the table even tho I didn’t had no food in my plate one of the kitchen guys that serves meat tried to offer me some and I said I wasn’t ready yet the guy got upset because I told him that’s and never came with meat to my table again , bear in mind I’m a regular customer spent over 500 pounds doing my nice birthday there and always taking big groups for lunch and dinner , what got me was that I got there at 15.50 and evening meals start at 16.00 so I asked one of the employees to serve me picanha with garlic and they told me I couldn’t have it because they put me on lunch section because I got there at 15.15 when it was a lie I got there for evening meal and then they had to call the owner to ask if they could switch witch they said I couldn’t , after all that I just couldn’t stay there any more second awful kitchen staff treated me like a dog and kept laughing in kitchen while staring at me !!! I did let them know that I wasn’t happy and then two kitchen staff members should be fired!

We had our first visit to Favela and it did not disappoint! The food was really good - most of the meat was cooked brilliantly. The staff came round regularly with the meat and the service was great, even though it was a very busy Saturday night. I will definitely be returning!

After an unexpected change of plans, my family and I found ourselves at Favela, a Brazilian restaurant where a variety of meats are brought to your table as long as your marker is set to green, offered a continuous culinary delight. As someone who has enjoyed this style of dining before, I was particularly impressed by the quality of the cooking at Favela. The beef, especially the rump and picanha cuts, were standout dishes for me, cooked to perfection with flavors that truly stood out. The authenticity of the experience was heightened by the staff, who appeared genuinely Brazilian, adding an air of authenticity to the meal and clearly took pride in the cuisine they presented. The chicken thighs were another highlight, perfectly textured and flavored. The sirloin and lamb followed suit in excellence, leaving no room for disappointment. While the salad bar was satisfactory, it was the meat that truly captured my attention, with its rich flavors and tender textures dominating the meal. A pleasant surprise towards the end was the cinnamon and sugar-coated pineapple slices, a delightful sweet treat that perfectly rounded off the meal. Although the staff were noticeably busy, their friendliness and efficiency did not waver, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Favela provided an exceptional dining experience that was both unexpected and thoroughly enjoyed. The combination of exquisite meats, authentic atmosphere, and friendly service has ensured that we will certainly be returning in the future. Picture to follow.

Celebrated our 32nd anyversary there for the afternoon menu and the food and service was amazing. The venue too made us feel like we were on holiday. Defo go again and recommend this place x

From a vegetarian perspective I would say the food is pretty average, my husband got the seafood platter and it was not very generous for the price tag of £25. They did have vegetarian pasta options and the salad bar had quite a lot of choice, but I wouldn’t come here again. If you’re a meat eater I think it’s worth it, we came as part of a meat eater’s birthday meal and he definitely got his moneys worth. The service was slow for drinks and they forgot our order twice in the space of 2 hours.

Great food & service; I thought the steak was DELICIOUS & very filling. I haven't eaten anything since going here for lunch:-) I love the decor, music & food selection - I liked when they carved the delicious steak at your table! My companion could finish his feast so I finished it for him! Our advice is to not eat anything before coming as you will be eating for England:-)
