As a repeat customer I often pop in if I’m on the high street, and have bought multiple friends and family to this cafe - who go on to bring people too. I am familiar with the staff who often wave to me as I walk by in the morning with my dogs. Today I decided to pop in for brunch after doing errands in the area - I had already brought a coffee, but this time I had forgotten my own flask which I usually ask them to put the coffee in. After making my order in Fee & Brown, to my great surprise the barista that usually greets me on the street made a point of approaching me and making a sarky remark about me not buying my coffee from the cafe and bringing my own in (at this point I had already ordered two dishes). Something which is quite normal as people might go to a cafe to simply get a bagel, or breakfast, and may already have a coffee in their own flask. Despite being a frequent customer, and despite having some level of rapport with this person, they were arrogant and unapologetic when I spoke to them about it. The type of attitude that does not belong front of house. The cafe is overpriced and overcrowded but it’s saving grace for me is the food and nice atmosphere - but the main male barista is arrogant. An unfortunate stain on an otherwise pleasant cafe. When pulled up on his unprovoked comment, instead of apologising he told me not to come back if I have another coffee, despite often spending upwards of £20 per visit. I’ll do him a favour and not come back at all. Fortunately Beckenham is a lovely area with plenty of choice. Good luck to you, I hope speaking to your repeat customers like that in this economy serves you well.

Fee & Brown is my favourite cafe in Beckenham - they have fantastic drinks, including sugar free matcha latte, delicious coffee and unusual tea mixes (including herbal infusions) which you can buy for a very reasonable price. And of course brilliant cakes and pastries.

The garden was the draw for me and my toddler to a treat of lunch out - it's quiet and lovely - the staff were pleasant, other times I've been here it has been way too busy and I've waited so long I've left. This time the service was quick. I was surprised when I learnt that they do poached egg on toast so ordered scrambled instead but when it came, I was disappointed. The eggs were very orange, reminiscent of caged eggs and they weren't really scrambled but more thrown about in a pan. I used to make scrambled eggs like this until I learnt! When I met my husband, I learnt the trick as he has always made them light fluffy and never over-cooked. The grilled tomatoes I asked for where just fresh salad tomatoes cut in half, so while tasting OK, didn't really go with the hot food. A bit odd. It's a lovely location in the garden, but the place really is a coffee/cake place and not really where I would go again for a brunch. If they do eggs, they should really be able to do poached but they have one tiny gas ring the waitress explained and not sure if they have a 'chef' chef so to speak. On the egg provenance, I think establishments should state if eggs are free range or organic and for the price, £5.50 for scrambled eggs on sourdough, and for the location they should be organic. These did not taste or look anything of the sort. I never eat knowingly non-free range as it is such a cruel way to treat poultry. It's a big ethical issue for many people so perhaps we need to ask more questions of our restaurants and eateries. Maybe it's time we had a logo that establishments can use on their windows and menus.

Bad value for money if you want a hot chocolate. Firstly nearly a half of a modest sized glass is milky foam…then the chocolate is the coolest almost cold hot chocolate l have ever been served everywhere. Visited here again recently with my partner and enjoyed a nice brunch. Ordered a ham and cheese toastie and the salmon, cream cheese and smashed avocado organic ciabatta together with a hot chocolate and black Americano. Service was prompt and polite. Ford arrived in good time. Partner liked the toastie and hot chocolate which she’s had before. My ciabatta option was a new choice and pleased to say was one of the best I’ve had in quite some time. Generous amounts of each food portion on a soft roll. I complimented the staff on how nice the food was and will be returning soon to have again. As always, barista George provided a lovely coffee. All in all an enjoyable experience was had by us both.

Went in at 3.50pm and a very rude man deliberately moved to stand in front of us, looked us up and down and barked: “What do you want?”. When we said we’d like to grab a seat and order a coffee he replied curtly: “We close in 5 minutes.” and rolled his eyes as if we should know that. Their website says that they are open until 4.30pm so he is either a liar or closing whenever he feels like it. Either way, I won’t be wasting my time going back there if their default is to talk to customers like that.

As we were in Beckenham we thought we would choose an independant coffee shop to pick up a coffee. I am so glad we chose this one. Whilst we were waiting for our coffee the barista was friendly and chatty even though it was a busy Saturday morning. The coffee was one of the best I have tasted, it was hot, smooth and silky and simply delicious. The Pain au Chocolat we also purchased was huge, flaky and buttery. We will definitely return next time we are in Beckenham.

Always a pleasure to visit here for a nice relaxing Sunday breakfast or brunch. Service is prompt, polite and attentive. Food is nicely presented and soooo tasty. Coffee is nice, strong and packed with flavour which I love. Keep doing what you do best F&B despite the recent couple of negative reviews as these are quite clearly written by those who have another agenda and have no thought for other users of your fine establishment. Given how busy you invariably are, this proves the point that firstly locals and those visiting from outside the area enjoy what you provide and secondly therefore has no need for such individuals. Well done F&B!

Found this cafe online as a perfect meeting point to spend the morning with a colleague. We were excited for great coffees and what looked to be delicious dishes. We both work in hospitality so make considered choices and wherever possible support local. On arrival the cafe looked great and I ordered a great tasting coffee but as I settled in my seat and lifted out my laptop I was told Friday and Saturdays are no laptop days in the cafe. Who makes these rules? I had no choice but to pack up my things and leave. I had fully intended to stay for some hours and would have regularly ordered drinks, snacks and lunch. I was eyeing up the take home coffee sold on the counter. So a good £40 of revenue lost. This cafe is pretentious, populated by bored mums and tiny kids who must have deep pockets to keep the cafe afloat. I won’t be returning and will be relaying my experience to my Bromley friends. What a shame.

My 1st and last visit to this coffee shop. Having thought I would try something new as I usually get my morning coffee from poached. I popped in with my small dog and was rudely told to leave. As the till is at the front you would of assumed I could of picked him up and got my takeaway coffee or there would of been a sign on the door saying no dogs. I just think customer service is paramount & there is a way of saying certain things. I now wouldn’t visit there with my dog or without.

Haven’t visited here for a while but will definitely be back soon. The establishment has been nicely decorated, is light and airy and not too overfilled with wall mounted pictures, ornaments, etc. that you tend to sometimes get in other places. I had the organic porridge which you have a choice of different toppings for and a nice strong Black coffee whilst my partner had the ham and cheese toastie. Service was prompt, polite and food arrived quickly, nicely presented, hot and tasty. Liked the menu which has been changed since our previous visit and includes good organic choices which was good to see. Often wondered why this place was so busy and now know why. Came here on Saturday, quite busy. Got sat down by a guy who did ask us if we were staying for lunch and we said yes. Thought he went to go get menus, but actually disappeared completely, had to catch the attention of someone else for menus. My friends and I all ordered a hot drink, and we all ordered eggs on toast with smoked salmon or avocado. We were all surprised how the eggs were served. I can't remember if on the menu it mentioned that you can ask to have it cooked how you liked it, but we were all too distracted from not having eaten all day that we just said "eggs on toast" to the waitress taking our order. But she didn't ask us how we would want it cooked and I'm not sure if this is how the kitchen only cook eggs, but we all ended up with fried eggs! Now if I'm going to go have some fancy toast in a nice cafe at the weekend, I would like it to be poached or scrambled. Was a bit let down by that, but the coffee was quite good. Will go back for coffee and to try some cake, but not for the eggs.

Fee and Brown is the most accommodating welcoming coffee shop and cafe in a Beckenham. The staff and costumer service is simply incredible, that perfect balance of being familiar and friendly but also leaving you to enjoy your own time. I’d heard of it for its coffee, which really is worlds apart in quality from the other places, personally it’s their teas I go for, beautiful ingredients. My dad had one of their famous toasties, his absolute favourite. I had Smashed Avo and Salsa which was delicious, refreshing and healthy yet SO satisfying. As for their cake... just SENSATIONAL. (big portions too ) We noticed they were quite busy yesterday yet made everyone feel really welcome and help many families try to get seated with babies etc. I can not recommend this place enough. I have wanted to try Fee and Brown for a long time, and finally made the journey there this weekend (not the easiest, since it involved a rail replacement bus). I got there twenty five minutes before closing, only to be told that the coffee machine had already been completely stripped down so they weren't serving coffee anymore. How can you stop serving one of your main products such a long time before closing? I could understand if it had been ten minutes before closing but I was absolutely gobsmacked. They lost three people's custom and I doubt I will make the journey back there to try it again. Incredibly disappointing.

Fee and Brown in Beckenham is very successful and deserves its success. It is one of the best places for a quick bite, cake or coffee in Beckenham. There is a range of very decent cakes. I've been meaning to review Fee and Brown for a while but it's only small and I always worry about getting a table....... We usually come for coffee and cake but have had both breakfast and lunch and both were good. Cakes are fresh and interesting (could possibly extend choice or change range a bit?) and croissants excellent. But what really distinguishes it, and makes it worth a drive for us, is the truly wonderful coffee. It obviously uses really good beans and has a serious machine, but mostly Fee and Brown has a barista who really knows what he is doing and tries extremely hard to make the best (and often prettiest!) drinks every time. I'm already looking forward to my next flat white!

When you go for tea and cake the last thing you want is to be served by a surly people who looks as though they loathe their job and could not care less whether you enjoy your food or not as they slap it on the table. What you want is a personal experience and to feel that the staff actually care about you being there. It's a beautiful sunny day. We needed a serene spot in a tender day of accompanying a loved one through his dying process. We'd been recommended Fee & Brown. It is obviously a popular venue for locals. We hoped to sit in a garden. The space at the back was completely overgrown & used for storage. The soy decaf cappuccinos were lacking in flavour. There were no vegan options in the cakes and snacks. The single gluten free cake - orange polenta and choc chip cake- was delicious. The loos were shabby, grubby and untended. This was a disappointing visit. Such a shame. F & B are really missing an opportunity if today's experience is anything to go by.

This cafe has the best flat white and selection of cakes in Beckenham high street, strongly recommended.

I used to love this café ; good atmosphere, delicious tea and coffee, good GF cakes. Until the last few visits when I realised there are only ever two GF cake varieties, and only one at a time. And being overcharged the last three visits borders on the ridiculous. The first time the staff member didn't even apologise. Always double-check what you have had before paying!!!

Came here for lunch today and was pretty impressed. The staff were friendly and they kindly customised a sandwich for me in order to make it vegan. The sandwich itself was tasty and very filling. The location of this place is good too, and it has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Not bad value for money either.

Fee & Brown was in Orpington for a short time a while back - I LOVED it - the coffee was amazing, and the food equally great. I miss this place and wish the folk of Orpington had done more to keep you here - although always did look busy. I shall have to take a trip to Beckenham soon as I've not had a decent coffee for so long...

What a find! A twenty minute walk from my home and right next to one of my favourite bookshops. I stopped at Fee & Brown for a coffee recently and asked for a Macchiato AND a Flat White not expecting for a minute that I'd get one. Nine times out of ten the Macchiato offered up is just the worlds smallest latte. Hence the Flat White back up. My confidence was boosted when I was given a glass of water. When that happens you know you're dealing with people who understand coffee. I saw the Macchiato as it was placed on the tray ready to be sent over and the smile on my face was visible to all. Just perfect. I'll be back for sure. The food looked really good and the service was great. Very personable. But the coffee. Wow. That's the reason you don't have to offer me a loyalty card.

We recently moved to Beckenham and wanted to try our local places without defaulting to the various chain coffee shops. Fee & Brown seemed like the go to place for a nice breakfast/brunch and we weren't disappointed. We sat where we liked and we got served our drinks straight away by a very lovely lady who was super efficient, bearing in mind it was a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. Our food was cooked to perfection and because I am on a neutropenic diet I wanted my eggs completely cooked through and they were. The coffee was so yummy and the experience too!

Truly a gem in Beckenham. I find myself planning my day with F&B in mind. The perfect coffee and food is delicious served by friendly staff. Gets very busy but when it's hay good it's worth the visit and wait.

A bit cramped also a lot women with push chairs taking up a lot of unnecessary space. There is a big table at the back and doesn't seem very inviting to sit in-between strangers to have a quiet coffee. Most of the tables feel very similar and you will often find your self very close to someone, not very relaxing. The seats are made of wood and very uncomfortable, i would suggest maybe softer furnishings. The staff seem friendly enough and the coffee was ok, but no friendly staff to welcome you in or to find you a table. Most of the people have a sense of entitlement so again if you aren't part of the beckenham clique or the mothers with rich husbands club you will feel very uncomfortable but i suppose that is what it is there for!Doesn't accept cards which for 1 reason or another suggests they do not declare all of there income. (But most business owners are of a capitalist persuasion and would prefer to keep the money to themselves and not to society in general, thus conflicting with the sense of a community coffee shop but rather a little clique for the affluent areas of Bromley)

Nowhere locally comes close to Fee and Brown for coffee and the staff are all really lovely. The only problem is that I come here way too often.

I regularly call in for a takeaway coffee and it is hard not to be beguiled into taking a piece of delicious cake too, or to stay in for a salad or sandwich. One of Beckenham's little gems.

As sad as it may sound my wife and I struggle to start a Weekend without a lovely fresh flat white from this great little coffee shop, it also has great toasted sandwiches should you want a spot of lunch or and super fresh cakes for that afternoon delight , it does get busy but if you can grab the seating facing the road then you can simply relax and enjoy the view of the wonderful St George's church or do a little reading but we strongly recommend it as a great alternative to the big brand coffee shops .

20% of the reviews on this place are either average, poor or terrible; need I say more? I never write poor reviews, and believe there is always 2 sides to every story, but my god the people are right when they write on here that the staff are rude - and its the owners who are the problem, clearly!Being a local business owner myself, I was absolutely appalled by the level of customer service - or complete lack of shall I say. You will be asked to leave if you do not fit in with who the owners believe should be customers, even if you are made to feel welcome at first by their front of house staff.Only go here if you are white, upper middle class and hopefully with screaming children in tow.

We used to live 30 seconds away and always said the parade of shops needed a cafe. If we still lived in the area, we’d be in here all the time. I had the smash avocado toast with a twist and my wife had a set breakfast with a few changes. Cooked really well and the bill was very reasonable. Coffee was also really good. Spotlessly clean and the air-con means you don’t leave smelling like fried food. Despite now living 20mins away with cafes near us, we’ll be back here to support this great new little cafe.
