Used the app for the first time to order a takeaway. Food ready on the dot and as delicious as always. Best chippy around.

Lovely takeaway/dine-in restraunt cod can often be on the small side which is a negative on some parts as some customers will occasionally prefer a smaller cod but the pricing is definitely on the higher scale. I believe that £2 for a splash of curry sauce is quite costly as well as £46 for two cod and chips and two glasses of coke with bread and butter amazing restraunt but unfortunately the cost puts me off.

Always delicious food and great service

On the coldest night of the year so far, 2 portions of f&c’s was just the tonic. Chips excellent, cod excellent, batter could have been a bit lighter. Service was quick and friendly. The f&c’s were hot when we arrived home and paired nicely with a bottle of Cava.

Family of 4 Food was lovely can’t complain about quality. Fish was lovely crispy batter and chips definitely triple cooked very good,favourite had to be the curry sauce. Unfortunately I wouldnt venture back quickly for the price Its cost just short of £75 for the four of us Drinks cost £12 for 4 cans! Regular fish&chips steep at £16 when volume of chips was same for smaller fish and chips at £12 The chicken burger my eldest had was worth the £14 See pictures below for food/portion size Staff lovely very friendly couldnt fault the service

They serve halal option for the fish and chips where they cooked the food seperately from the non halal menu (sausages, pigs in blanket). We ordered the Cod and Haddock also tried the mushy peas and it tasted great. Highly recommended.

The best Fish & Chips in the North East

Very tasty fish and chips. Thick pieces of fish and not too much batter, which I prefer. Chips were good. Mushy peas were delicious. Ordered online (Monday Eve) and order was ready within 15 mins. Takeaway was almost ready when I arrived to collect it - didn’t have to wait around. Unlike other customers who had turned up and ordered on arrival.

I had such a lovely time at this restaurant. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere made it feel like the perfect place to unwind. The food was genuinely impressive—every dish was packed with flavor, fresh, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into their cooking. A special shoutout to Sherin, who was our server for the evening. She was attentive without being overbearing, always there with a smile and ready to help. Ordered online for collection and food was ready as I walked in. I ordered the fish lite-bite meal which for just over £8 is a fantastic deal, 3 pieces of fish, chips and a curry or gravy on the side. Definitely becoming a firm favourite of ours, and we live close to the fish quay but would rather head along the coast for a fisherman’s bay fix. Also recommend getting the app if you’re a regular, the rewards are a lovely bonus.

Wow what an amazing place for gluten free food! The staff are amazing although one of the waitresses told me the brownies were gluten free meaning I then had to have one! 🤣 Can't wait to go back. Good food and great service. What more could you want!

A party of 3 who all agreed that this great fish restaurant is worthy of the 5 star review. Welcoming friendly staff who looked after us from start to finish, the fish and chips we all ordered were delicious with great value prices for us seniors, we will definitely be returning and do not hesitate in recommending Fishermans Bay, a big thank you to all the staff who made our visit so enjoyable

Been many times and food always delicious but what a disappointment today!the cod bites I’m told were delicious but my pea fritter was awful ,barely warm ,dry but burnt brown underneath and the chips were wrinkled and quite obviously had been kept warm ,I asked for plenty vinegar but there was none on or salt …I have to say a total waste of money as the majority of the food was thrown in the bin

First time at this restaurant and first class food, service and attention to detail. Not cheap - but you get what you pay for and we couldn’t find fault at all. Beautiful fish (cod) perfect chips and good music. Can’t wait to go back to try something else on the extensive and imaginative menu. Recommended .

Stopped by for a fish and chips. Beautiful crisp batter, real chips, homemade peas. Could not have been better. The staff were a delight too. Asked if we had any allergies and were very attentive and understanding. I can't wait to go back. We ate in but there are plenty of places to eat on the promenade. Cheers.

The fish batter was crispy the chips were okay, gravy was good but the price, the wait for the food and being ignored by staff was disappointing. Glad we tried so we know not to go back

The quality is inconsistent. My haddock a few weeks ago was more batter than fish and the chips poor quality. The mushy peas were ok. Over £14 for a takeaway is a rip off and 60p for a tiny capsule of ketchup mean to the highest degree. Disappointed and not going back. There are better F&C to be had in W Bay than from this overpriced place. I stupidly gave this place a 2nd chance a few days ago. They only offer regular and small size fish portions which cleverly absolves them from criticism for selling smaller ones than other nearby places. My ‘regular’ was small, overcooked and chewy - a disgrace from an award winning establishment. They will sell you a small cod but not a small portion of chips - only one size at £3.80! I like chips but I can’t eat a large portion, so much of it is wasted. This place receives glowing reviews which puzzles me. A very much better and larger fish with chips can be had in the Queens Hd Cullercoats.

Waited for 36 minutes for over priced dried up fish & chips. They took a large delivery order after I had paid and gave preference to the large order making everyone else wait. Absolutely disgusting attitude from the woman in charge and will never return.

Staff were great, the decorations for Halloween were great as well. The regular cod was a good size, flaky and the batter crispy. However, the wife’s calamari was inedible, rubbery and the batter wasn’t nice. Tbh I don’t think it was fresh at all. The chips were very pale and under cooked. Tartar sauce was pretty flavourless and the chilli sauce had a strange tang to it. I-fry in wester hope, fenham fish bar and long sands in Tynemouth blow this place out the water.

First class quality food and they serve gluten free, which is amazing. We were so happy with the quality of the food. We will definitely be back. Thank you

It's unbelievable to charge for a portion of chips £3.80 we know the prices went so high after covid and the wars but potatoes It's still cheap thing. Even to Seaton Sluice fish and chips shop with the huge queues it's better the prices and in Tynemouth both fish and chips shops are cheaper. Never again.

Quality of food has never let us down. Always busy and for good reason. Not the cheapest (or too pricey!) but well worth it. In particular, we like that they do not slice the fish thinly in order to make it look bigger, resulting in it not being overwhelmed by batter, and having a very satisfying bite. We rarely go elsewhere. Highly recommended.

This has to be the best fish n chips I've had in a long time. The food is just exquisite. The service and staff are exceptional. They offer halal options and gluten free options, and have separate fryers for them. The staff is ever so friendly and will make sure the kitchen is aware of any dietary requirements.

We had 2 x pensioners specials ( for over 60s) and the food was delicious. The chips were especially light...so much so I had to ask what was the secret! Thoroughly recommend you visit when in Whitley Bay. We will definitely be back! One disappointment was my wife wanted a cappuccino with her pensioner's special meal. Many times in the past she ordered this with no problem. However the waitress said she could only have "instant". We were not even offered a cappuccino with an uplift in price which we would have been happy to pay...maybe some training required. It's not easy to get staff these days!

Tasteless and dry cod. The chips the same. As long as we were there all guest left their chips. Very expensive for such bad food. Can’t recommend.

Had basic fish and chips. Well cooked and presented. Very tasty. Staff were friendly and welcoming Not busy when we were there. Good background music too (well known 80s and 90s film themes etc) would definitely recommend.

Excellent food. Of my experience of having fish and chips for the past 20 years, I have never tasted such a crispy, yet tender cod in my life. You can literally hear the soft crunch in your mouth. Don’t get me started on the chips… fried to perfection! A massive shoutout to Reji and Sheena for their excellent service and personable experience. Truly professional hospitality. I would recommend this institution to everyone who is a fish lover.

Visited here on the way to Rothbury, had a late lunch/early dinner, and it was super, great value for money and great tasting, service was good too

1st time trying Fisherman’s and was impressed with the service and food. Had the Pension special, which is good value for money and fills you up. Staff very attentive and were cheerful.

We have been dining at Fisherman's Bay since they first opened. Excellent food & service. Stephen the owner is a very pleasant young man. Deborah the manager is friendly, efficient & runs the business so very well, the staff always are so very obliging too. Highly recommend the Pensioners Special.

Food: 5/5 Delicious, had the classic Fish & Chips totally recommend. Service: 4/5 All you do is just come and order your food nothing to comment about. Atmosphere: 2/5 not very good because it is dirty.

Great food, friendly and quick service

Wow, wow, wow! My family and I (with some extended family) visited Fisherman’s Bay on bank holiday Monday as we were showing the extended family the sights of Whitley Bay. The food we all had was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The waiting staff were polite, friendly and knowledgable and were able to answer all of the questions that my extended family had to ask, especially as they are and Hindi and don’t eat anything cooked in animal fat. As a result their meals were all cooked in a different oil than that used for my family. I would recommend The Fisherman’s Bay to anyone who wants good fish and chips at a reasonable price that is served quickly by polite staff.

Wow, you can tell why these have won so many awards. Great tasting fish and chips, even the tartare sauce and mushy peas were a cut above. Sat opposite side of the road on thier benches and didn't even get attacked by seagulls. Young team were cheery efficient and genuinely look happy in thier work. Fantastic 🐟

The Fish and chips are the BEST & The curry sauce is so nice has a nice kick to it. The Food is always hot when it comes to your table. You can sit inside. If you take out there is sitting outside or just across the road. The staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome. Its has won awards for the best Fish & chips. I love coming here as it the best place in Whitley Bay for Fish and chips.

Fish was a little over cooked but the chips made up for it.

very mid. food is pretty bland, but the tartare sauce is really good. i‘d expect a little bit of sauce on the side for the price of the food tho, so i wouldn’t have to say its bland. my caramel latte tasted really good but it was luke warm so i had to drink it all right away for it to be semi enjoyable. service was ok. it looked really pretty inside but it was not enjoyable to sit there because of the amount of screaming children and parents. it was unbearably loud. not nice. for the entire experience definitely overpriced.
