Probó Fuentes por primera vez, pidió patti de ternera en conserva con papas fritas y salsa de curry pequeña, se obtienen buenas porciones pero hay que decir que las papas fritas wernt el mejor, tenía un sabor de fondo (goteo de carne? ) el patti era agradable y crujiente con un montón de relleno. La salsa de curry estaba bien, no demasiado picante. Muy razonable precio. Lo intenté como la gente dice que es el mejor en la zona, pero se quedará con Colemans en South Shields . .

Siempre conseguir xl y son un gran tamaño aparte de este tiempo con suerte un 1 de he estado usando ernies durante años 💪 así que no voy a pizarra para 1 pescado malo

Visité aquí porque todo el mundo dice que es el mejor chippy alrededor. El personal era genial y amable, el lugar estaba limpio. Lamentablemente nuestras picaduras de pescado eran de color marrón oscuro (exceso) con muy poco contenido de pescado, las patatas fritas estaban bien. El rebozado en las patatas fritas era encantador, pidió una salsa de curry grande. Esperemos que esto haya sido un malentendido, ya que la salsa de curry que recibimos era pequeña en el mejor de los casos.

Esto es una tienda de pescado y patatas fritas para llevar no un restaurante, pero no te decepcionará mejor pescado y patatas fritas en Sunderland mi opinión en realidad las porciones son grandes, así que nunca te decepcionará.

Easily the best chippy in Sunderland. I travel 5 miles to eat here. Proper chippy and easily worth the travel. Too little of this now in Sunderland.

I've visited Fountains on a few occasions, the last being just that. THE LAST... The fish batter was very greasy and the chips greasy aneamic looking and limp. To top it all off when I opened it the fish was plonked on top of the chips, rendering the chips to taste soggy.. Bit of a treck but Colmans in South shields is superb.

The "food" if you can even call it that. The fish tasted like it had been sitting out for days, with a texture reminiscent of rubber. I've had better fish sticks from the frozen food aisle at the discount store. The chips, if you can call them that, were a soggy, greasy mess. It's as if they were determined to drain every ounce of joy from the potato. To top it all off, the prices were exorbitant for the culinary catastrophe they dared to serve. I've had better meals from a school cafeteria at half the price. In conclusion, Fountains Fish n' Chip is a culinary nightmare that should be avoided at all costs. Save your taste buds and your wallet from this atrocity of a dining experience.

Bad fish & I found bones in it, I'd rather Ocean Fish & Chips Restaurant, not only that there was horrible serice. I also found cockroaches in the cracks in the wall. Horrible service, don't recommend.

Best fish and chips around, we travel from Gateshead as there's no other chippy like it. 😋 Fish cooked fresh from order. The owner and employees are all friendly and chat with all the customers.

The only problem with Fountain's is that once you've eaten their Fish lot you'll not go anywhere else - enough said!

Called here today for tea after swimming with my two grandsons I had fish and chips and grandsons had sausage and chips it was massive portions and lots of batter absolutely delicious the staff are lovely and friendly greet you as you walk in the door would definitely recommend

Just been for a fish lot with batter and the queue alone proves how popular it is. Plenty of staff meant I didn’t wait long though. Fish isn’t greasy and was cooked to perfection. Chips and batter lovely! What a gem! Will be back as no decent chip shops on my doorstep anymore.

What a find this place was, the fish is lovely, we had the cod bites, as we heard the fish is really large, about four each is more than enough with one portion of chips. The peas were nice too. Really liked the batter as it wasn't too heavy. Prices were very reasonable. This will be my chippy of choice now!

Knowing that I was going to be in the Sunderland area for a few hours, I searched the reviews and came across this place. Had to drive about 5 miles or so to get there, but it was well worth it. Ordered a large haddock (cooked to order) and chips "open". Large tray, large fork and batter scraps for six quid. Superb quality and service. P.S. Three sizes of cod and haddock available and the fish patties looked substantial as well. Highly recommended.

The food here is spot on fish are huge and really tasty,fish bytes are really tasty only problem is mushy peas are watery and not mushy. A little tip to anybody wanting fish on a friday phone your order in

We really enjoyed our takeaway meal from here..Although a little pricey it was worth it. We will definitely go back here. Although very busy the queue went down quickly.

Me and my family have been going here for years. Every friday for probably 20 years. You will not get better anywhere. Ernie knows his stuff! We won't go anywhere else for our friday fish and chips :)

This really is the best fish and chip shop in Sunderland. Pick a time when the father is frying and it is even better. It closes around 8pm so do not dither - get there quickly.

This was a top fish shop years ago.then it went downhill after it was sold . But then they bought it back and it's back to its top rated fish shop.every opportunity I get I tell people about the quality and great size portions you get at a fair price.worse case scenario you try it once and may not like it..yeah right.you will go back like everyone else.

Fountains are the best choppy around .Don't go to reds. Could not find the fish inside batter and absolutely no taste at all. Fountains are the ones we go back to...they were closed tonight hence the change..

The way chip shops should be! A good range of food to go and never an issue to cook something fresh while you wait. Both Ernie and Chris give a good old fashioned service and the food is second to none! The battered haggis is also spot on!!

Been going to Fountains once a week for several years. The cod is always fresh and white the chips are perfect. The portions are huge considering the cost which is 25% less than my local shop never ever had a bone and Ernie the owner is friendly as is the staff. The shop is spotless too
