Frangipani in Cheltenham

After a busy hectic day we stopped and enjoyed the meal at Frangipani. Spices were balanced and food was aromatic and tasty.Will visit again.

The service was excellent and very pleasant, and the atmosphere of the place is great. However, parking could be better.

We had a great experience during dinner. On a school trip to the restaurant, our son, who has a severe nut allergy, was able to enjoy a nut-free curry. This impressed us, so we decided to visit as a family. Highly recommend!!!

Ordered a takeaway for delivery on a Friday night. The food was delicious, came in generous portions, and was reasonably priced. Delivery was a bit earlier than expected, This is now our favorite spot for Indian takeaway!

Not even worth one star!!!!! Poor customer service after ringing once when it was late we were told it was ‘on its way’ and then after ringing half an hour later (when it should have only taken 10 mins because of where we live) we were quickly shoved off the phone being told it’s on its way again! Bhuna was watery, chicken tikka masala had no flavour and the chicken pops were purely red coloured batter chicken. No flavour, poor service, long wait. Won’t bother again!

Friends meetway at this place. Had an Indian take away from here this evening… WOW! There was still the small problem of having a yummy Indian takeaway that really packed flavours well across the board. We ordered the Korma which was one of the nicest Korma’s we have had from a takeaway ever, a little spicier than normal which was lovely, the saag aloo was really nice too. This has to be our new favourite Indian takeaway!! Thank you for that info Griff and cheers, Can’t wait for the time when we could personally dine at the restaurant and taste more of your great offerings! Definitely to recommend to anyone, delivery is incredible faster as well.

This of course make this place hugh as far as Indian restaurants are concerned! Very good restaurant which serves tasty food with unique and genuine signature of Indian cuisine. Good food at reasonable prices and it wasn’t eating in other Indian restaurants as much as we had portion sizes that were satisfactory but not overly large. There is nothing personal here, Service is great and the staff are friendly and very helpful. I would definitely go back and recommend this place for anyone in town and passing by, or even visiting.

After having read 2 previous writers, I was not set much on my delivery. How was I wrong Muttar Paneer perfect in colour golden paneer sweet peas and yummy sauce. Lamb Biryani that consisted of mixed vegetable curry, which was well spiced as well as tasty. I felt compelled to mention this, that the vegetable curry which served along side the biryani was tasteful. In all, very good eats.

Ooooh. what a great opportunity to enjoy food. I was first time at this wonderful restaurant with friends and everything was perfect here. Owners of this hotel, husband and wife, took good care of us and even cooked our dinner for one of us as it was not in the list of what they offered. They could not do enough for us, we will be returning for more in the near future.

Out of all the restaurants I've tried, ROYAL ASHOKA truly stands out. The food quality is exceptional, service is top-notch, especially from the excellent waiter, Robin. I highly suggest experiencing their diverse Indian cuisine and chef's specialties. The friendly waitstaff made my fine dining experience feel welcoming and comfortable. The starters are creatively presented; you can customize your order to your liking. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the food prices are very competitive.

I normally never leave bad reviews, but unfortunately this place is the most disappointing food and depressing ambiance with a pricy menu. First off, the pictures you see in the Google reviews are outdated as they have downsized and there is no outdoor food option available. Honestly you won’t even find the place as it’s in the basement floor with no signs of clear visibility. The Indian food served is abysmal in taste there is only two people for the entire restaurant, one serves the food and the other cooks. They had no customers on an weekend evenings while the opposite restaurant and the park was full, literally it was just my family in the entire restaurant, that should have been our first sign to return back but I had paid three hours parking and though of risking it, but it wasn’t worth it. Please try the other Indian restaurants like Bombay or Everest which is far better. Or just go to Weatherspoons or even buy ready to eat Indian dish from Tesco freezer you won’t be disappointed.

I visited this hidden gem in the summer with a friend. It was one of the best meals I have ever had! I have been meaning to come back as soon as possible! I took my family on a Sunday for the buffet. Decided to give Frangipani a try based on the positive reviews here. Ordered a takeaway for delivery on a Friday evening. The food was plentiful, tasty and reasonably priced. The delivery was slightly earlier than we booked, but that wasn’t a problem. This will be our new “go to” for an Indian takeaway….

I went with my friend for my birthday meal and the food was to die for. We went around 7pm and we were the only ones there whilst a lot of takeaways were collected throughout our visit. I had a lamb coconut curry with a 2 chili rating and my spice tolerance is quite good so I personally wouldn’t have described it as spicey but I loved it so much when I left I ordered a take away of the same to take home to my boyfriend as well as some amazing onions bahjis. The dining experience was top quality and I will definitely be returning and ordering many takeaways from this place

Came here on a week night, we were the only people in the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and superb service. I married into a Pakistani family so I find it hard to come by a nice “authentic” curry house when I come home. This place hit the nail on the head, food was fresh, authentic and absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced too. Can’t wait to come back.

Having read 2 previous reviews, I wasn't expecting much from my delivery. How wrong was I, Muttar Paneer, perfectly golden paneer, plenty of sweet peas and delicious sauce. Lamb Biryani with a mixed vegetable curry, once again, well spiced and tasty. I have to add, that the vegetable curry which accompanied the biryani was particularly good. All in all, an excellent meal.

We were mooching around Cheltenham looking for somewhere nice to eat after a concert at The Cheltenham Music Festival when we happened upon The Frangipani Spice Lounge. The amazing smells coming from inside drew us in - with some degree of enthusiasm. The rather unglamorous entrance is a complete contrast to the inside of the restaurant. It has been recently decorated to a calm and comfortable atmosphere. The music is really lovely too. There is a large varied menu with interesting bits of information about the recipes which is a nice touch. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We were rather late eating so it was a bit quieter and Mo, the owner and chef, came out for a chat. Listening to him talking about his cooking, it was perfectly clear why the food was so exceptionally good. He cooks everything from fresh and he uses fresh ingredients. Fresh ingredients together with Mo's passion for cooking are the secret to the success of this fabulous restaurant. We were made so welcome and had a fabulous meal

Had dinner here last night. Service was friendly. However, the food wasn’t brilliant, both chicken curry dishes were ok but not very flavoursome. The popadums were fresh but the dips were very different to other curry places.

A bit tricky to find from the back street but when we were on the main road and saw the sign it was so obvious ... So, Saturday night, us, another couple, and a group of about 12 young people. And they'd had a few. And to be honest they were pretty lairy. Normally this is my nightmare, but as they got more ridiculously loud and rude to each other ... the mood changed, especially after the "dead cat" tattoo incident. Anyway, as they were leaving they bought us a bottle of prosecco and apologised for their language - "we're builders, and that's how we talk". Onto the food. We had onion bhajias (classic, pretty good, perhaps a bit crispy) and paneer, then okra (achari bindi- pleasant enough but a bit hard to distinguish what was what) and a saag paneer side [I can eat a lot of paneer] and a lamb curry and an aloo gobi. All perfectly good, tasty and spicy, served well. The slightly older gentleman helping with service was great - friendly, informed, and interested to know what we did for a living, and delighted that there was an overlap between what we do (he has a job elsewhere too!). He and his mate, off to a local club after serving, what excellent advertisements for fellas in their 60s! If you go to FSL off the back of the review, ask them their views about teaching algebra in schools!

We had dinner at this place last weekend. Although the chef and the staff are good but I didnt find the portion size good enough to justify a 7.something pound starter. For vegetable platter they just gave 3 different indian starters which were okay . In the main course We tried dal tarka with steam rice which was good but the mutter paneer was very sweet in taste. Was overall a bit okay experience compared to other restaurants we had dined in.
