Gandhi in Portsmouth

I ate here with my family on Christmas Eve, as a party of 8 people, the atmosphere was lovley, the staff and service were very good and we were served our orders promtly, the food it's self was excellant, we had a variety of items off the menu all were very flavourful, and to all our tastes especially as we had 2 teens with us and 2 younger ones, we all cleared our plates. I would definatley eat here again 👍

We visited the Gandhi restaurant and what a lovely we welcome we had, The food was exceptional & probably one of the best curries we have had, The staff were 1st class, and we will definitely be back. Well done everyone you are on a different level from the rest. Amazing... xx

Food was cooked lovely, all the buffet was piping hot. Also they cooked certain dishes to order which was a nice touch and the service was excellent.

Came after the Portsmouth FC game as they are associated with the club and the food was fantastic. Service were great and ordered taxis as well! 100% worth coming!

Ordered after seeing the good reviews … but the chicken in both the tikka masala and chicken pakora was extremely dry and tough, and the poppadoms were overcooked in some places but soggy in others, overall not overly impressed.

Always good food here. Haven’t ordered the passanda before and it was so tasty. Their curries always have really tender fall apart lamb. One of the best Indian restaurants locally.

This was the first evening they held a buffet, 6pm. They will be running it from 5pm to 10pm on sundays, our evening consisted of a party of seven people. The staff were marvelouse friendly and helpful, after the buffet we were served with ice cream this was unexpected but much appreaciated and was welcomed by our whole party with appreaciation. One of our group was presented with a special gift as it was her birthday. Does not mean everyone will get this for a birthday, but made a great night better. Food was good we did not want drinks tonight, but they were available both to the table or for purchase at the bar.

Came for the Sunday buffet good selection of main courses, also there was chicken dippers and chips for the children.

A great place to visit for a Sunday night all you can eat buffet. A great selection of food and it was all cooked fresh and topped up regularly to ensure it was all hot!. Really good food- definitely recommend A really nice evening!

I ordered paneer butter masala and Tarkha Daal, both dishes that are traditional, vegetarian North Indian dishes. Both dishes were somehow having the flavour of coconut and sea food, and they were disgusting. Moreover, paneer butter masala, literally had no paneer and instead tofu was used. Tarkha Daal typically is cooked with ghee and is salty, certainly not coconut oil and doesn't taste like seafood and is not sweet. Paneer butter masala is absolutely not sweet either, but it was so sweet that I had to add chilli and salt to make it slightly edible but it was too far gone. When I told this to the waiter, he told me that it is to suit the British taste. Nonetheless, the food was disgusting to me.

The new Sunday buffet is great. Lots to choose from, all very fresh and hot. You even get a little ice cream for dessert. Definitely recommend. X

the driver couldnt find the place, i was on the phone throughout the entire tjme i had to go out in the night to find him myself - i had put the exact address and postcode .. unbelievable

Visited the Ghandi on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. Great food and service. Will definitely visit next time I'm back in the UK.

Lovely staff, beautiful food with a wide / good variety of food on the menu. Reccommend saag paneer, unlike anything you can get anywhere else - would deffo come here to try especially if you’ve never been before.

Welcoming service and good menu selection

Fantastic in all areas. I love an Indian restaurant to play Indian music for the atmosphere. Friendly service with a big smile and friendly cheeky banter upon entry. Such attention to detail has been paid to decor, fittings and even the crockery. Oh, and the food? 100% traditional English Indian food cooked to perfection, served hot with an ice cold Cobra. If I didn’t live 300 miles away, I would be a regular.

Me and my Partner came to this restaurant to celebrate the birth of my First Granddaughter, the moment we arrived we were greeted by the Waiter, who was very polite and professional. The food was incredible and the service was out of this world! Our Waiter took his time to chat with us and he made us feel at home. Thank you for the most relaxing time at your Restaurant. I would say that Ghandi is the best Indian Restaurant in Portsmouth. I would highly recommend this Restaurant.

Been looking forward to our usual delivery not had 1 in ages ! Wot a let down greasy poppadoms tasted like shop bought then Darjeeling total disappointment usually a madras sauce a tray of chicken with peppers etc and ordered rice on side but main meal was a dish of greasy chicken in some sort of sauce with not an ounce of flavour bloody shame

Great food, but warm, not hot and very late in delivery. Initial estimate was 1830-1850. Arrived 1920.

Just a couple of mins later than ordered. Nothing to whinge about. Food was as hot and tasty as always. That is the most important thing.
