Gianni's in Eastbourne

I've eaten here twice in two months and I can definitely say the first time was not a fluke! Reasonable prices.. Excellent menu choices. The Pinsa pizzas are way better than Americanised pizzas - highly recommended

Had a Spagetti bolognese when what I should have had was the pizza. My friend who is a regular here, ordered it and I kept drooling over it. Can't wait to go back soon again.

went for a late lunch. restaurant was empty and quite cold. ordered a margharita pizza hoping it would be as good as the ones i have in naples when im visiting. although i enjoyed it was not a patch on the ones in naples however staff were friendly and i will go back again and try something different.

The food would have been great had it not been stone cold when it got here. The bit we ate tasted okay but the chips had gone hard and the pizza was so so cold. :( Sorry - not a great one this time.

Spent a couple of nights in Eastbourne for a getaway, and was looking for somewhere nice to eat on a Monday evening. Eastbourne this time of year is somewhat closed now and on a Monday evening. So approaching from the pier into the main town Giannis is possibly first place you'll stumble over on the right hand side heading into town. Spent 15 mins wandering around, but headed back to Giannis. Had a good feeling even though it was quiet and early. Checked menu and there is a great choice to cater for all tastes....pizzas, pastas, good choice of sides. On entering it has a very authentic feel of an Italian restaurant...was able to pick our own table and was made to feel very welcomed. Ordered a couple of drinks which are priced well for a restaurant, especially in main drag of Eastbourne. Our hostess was Martyna. Drinks arrived quick, and she was very warm and welcoming. She took our order. Asked for some olives to share as a starter, and was presented with a large dish to keep us nibbling! 2 covers ordered....Tagliatelle Pollo e Funghi & Bucatini alla Tarantina....Chicken and mushrooms, and muscles with tomato and chilli. Outstanding!...you won't go hungry...the portion sizes are fantastic. You might pay a couple of pounds more going in town, but I promise what you'll get here will satisfy you. Compliments to the chef as we expressed on the evening. The flavours were powerful, and on point and the overall presentation was fantastic. Service throughout incredible and very attentive without being over top. Until tonight I'd never eaten a muscle....but I had one and it was beautiful and tasty!!! Altogether it was a superb night, great food, not heavy on the tummy, and amazing flavours and service. Shocking...they didn't even add a service charge which I questioned, as they absolutely deserved it. I will without doubt return....its seafront close and maybe a pound or two more...but you will not be disappointed in the whole experience, thank you

We had a wonderful time at Giannis, our waitress was awesome! The pizza was outstanding, the chill oil is devine and we finished of with a Eton mess. A stunning meal with wonderful atmosphere and service! Thanks

Walked into an empty restaurant for lunch, could not understand why as the food was great, especially the gnocchi and the service was friendly and with a smile. I would definitely recommend this to anyone staying nearby.

Absolutely incredible food! THE best Italian we have ever had hands down! The girls in there are lovely and friendly! We were amazed how cheap it was considering we had a three course meal with alcoholic drinks and soft drinks! 6 Stars if I could! Definitely recommend!

Down in Eastbourne just for the weekend, walked past and saw the restaurant during the day and returned for dinner. Absolutely wonderful, service was great, food was incredibly flavoursome. We had a cheesy bread side, definitely a sharing portion. Pesto gnocchi was amazing, others had carbonara and risotto. All was brilliant.

Delicious authentic Italian food in a stunning atmospheric restaurant. Both my husband and I had the calzone pizza, with cheesy garlic bread side. It was HUGE and the chef catered to my husband’s taste of no mushrooms. Lovely, attentive staff. Will be back for sure!

Came here with a group of 4 after an event in a hotel in Eastbourne. We were absolutely delighted with the service, food and drinks. The pasta and pizzas were delicious, as was the winter star anise tea, and we were very happy for one of our diners to be able to have vegan cheese too! Recommend to groups with mixed tastes and dietary needs! Lovely decor too.

We spent three nights in Eastbourne and had supper at Gainni’s twice, the food and service was so good the first visit we returned the following night. Pizza had a lovely thin crisp base with tasty toppings, the following night I had the seafood stew which was spicy with plenty of seafood. Lovely food combined with great service makes this a great choice for a night out.

Brushetta ok. Bland. Cold. Main a chicken dish chicken very chewy. Pasta felt it was bland not the usual flavourings herds etc that makes Italian food so tasty. And £7.50 for a pint of peroni thought was a bit pricey will not be visiting again. !!

Walked in a family feeding two dogs under the table. Asked not to sit near them. Could still see waiting staff stroking the dogs and then wiping on their uniform. We had already ordered at this point. Food was beautiful and I have dogs myself just don't expect dogs eating off plates in a restaurant. Sat at a table near wnidow and dead flies on the frame. Table was sticky. Had to ask for table to be cleaned again.

Visit, sometimes when I am in Eastbourne. Not so much of an Italian feel as previous visits. But the food is still good quality. Our pizza was delivered to the table uncut had to ask for a pizza cutter, noticed other customers struggling to cut the pizzas with normal cutlery. But overall a good experience.

YUM we had a delicious meal at this authentic pinseria in the heart of Eastbourne! Everything tasted homemade and fullll of flavour. Very fresh! We loved the pinsa, it was soo good, much less heavy than pizza! I would love to try more pinsa! The gelato is not to be missed, so creamy, it’s like you’re in Italy. Just watch out for the seagulls if you get takeaway ice cream :( Lovely warm friendly service from the staff. I would love to eat at Giannis again next time I come to Eastbourne!

I like this restaurant, though limited to pizza and pasta. We came here today just for drinks and maybe to eat. I paid £31 for a bottle of average pinot grigio to share with my friend. Way overpriced, so we voted with our feet and had lunch and drinks elsewhere

Dropped in late night to have a pizza, which was good, but also decided to get the Melanzane al Funghetto as a starter, it was simply divine, the best eggplant I’ve ever had, I hardly wanted to eat anything else, the flavours were simply amazing! I’d fly over from Canada just to have it again. Thank you!

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Gianni's Ristorante Italiano. Not only do they serve real and authentic Italian cuisine that is both delicious and mouthwatering, but they also hold the unique title of being the first certified Pinseria in the UK. For those unfamiliar, this means they specialise in "Pinsa," a traditional Roman-style pizza known for its light, crispy base made from a special blend of flours and a long fermentation process. It’s a healthier and tastier alternative to regular pizza, and they do it to perfection here. As a young family, we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff were lovely, especially Charlotte, who was spectacular! Her enthusiasm for her job was infectious, and despite the restaurant being busy with even a birthday group, she remained attentive and professional throughout. The gentleman who seated us was also very pleasant it's a pity I didn't catch his name, but he had a charming little beard. I really appreciated how they accommodated my allergy concerns by seating us away from a dog, which made our experience even more comfortable. One of the standout aspects of Gianni's is their exceptional staff. Unlike many other places that prioritise appearances over substance, Gianni’s employs mature, dedicated individuals who genuinely love their jobs. This shows in the way they treat every customer with smiles and warmth. It’s rare to find a place where everyone, from young children to older folks, feels genuinely happy and well cared for. I highly recommend Gianni's as the best place to eat in not just Eastbourne or Brighton, but the entire UK. We'll definitely return on our next visit to the area as our first time here was made special by the wonderful team at Gianni's. Thank you all for a memorable evening!! Keep soaring!!! As a self proclaimed capricciosa pizza expert, I have to say this was one of the best ones I’ve had and I’ve travelled to every part of Italy too. The cherry ice cream was superb as well, wasn’t a huge fan of the tiramisu. Excellent pizza, friendly attentive service - definitely one to visit. Extra points for being dog friendly too ☺️

Brilliant experience. Me and my family came in and got seated immediately. Menus came out as soon as we sat down. Once we had ordered, cutlery and a special chili sauce came out. The chili sauce tasted nice. I had ordered a pepperoni pizza. The food came out at a good pace for the amount of food we ordered. The pizza was probably the best I've had in years. Overall an amazing experience and I would recommend. Motto bene! Grazie Di tutto.

The pizza and tiramisu was amazing, pasta carbonara was ok .but the main thing was that we didn't get approached for long time then we had to go ask to serve us.and at the end we had the feeling they want us to pay and leave even though we still had dessert and drink on the table

I have been visiting Gianni’s restaurant a few times in the past 5 years whenever on holiday in Eastbourne. Tonight I ordered the caponata and although it tasted delicious as usual I noticed that the portion was quite small for what is considered a main dish. So much so that I had to order bread for £4.50 on top of the £15 something for the caponata. When I mentioned that to one of the floor’s manager she replied that the size of the portion has not changed but that before caponata was accompanied by bread. To this I replied that this should still be the case as the size of the caponata would really welcome some bread on the side. I paid for both the dish and bread. However, I really believe that offering some bread in some circumstances like this would keep the customers satisfied and coming back to your restaurant. I understand that you need to make profits but it is also about showing that you care for your customers. The staff members were very kind, smiling and helpful as usual. And I should hope that they are being looked after well too Thank you, ✨🙏

Just came here for the first time and it was amazing. I never give reviews but the food makes me compelled to. Had the cinnamon ice cream for dessert and it was incredible. Seats could do with cushions

We visited on an relatively busy evening. The food was delicious and the icecream very good too. The service was friendly as well. It is nice that there are vegan options on the menu.

I think they are perhaps understaffed? When you go into a place and staff won't meet your eye to even direct you to a table, it's never a good sign. The server looked vaguely annoyed when she got to me, and they left me for a good while at the table without asking me if I'd like anything. Not great, don't recommend.

Honestly, best food we've had out in a long time, the parmigiana pinsa was delicious and the mussels had just the right amount of spice. Not to mention a good selection of gelato. Thank you for such a lovely meal.

We always choose to have our family birthdays here as the staff are so amazing at making the kids feel special. Always so attentive and nothing is ever too much. Thank you again for another lovely family meal

I came in for a gelato just before closing time and the lovely staff still served me regardless of them already cleaning however I was appalled by the way the older gentleman was shouting at the younger girls working. This is very unprofessional and not what customers should be seeing, although gelato was very tasty and an affordable price.

My family were down in Eastbourne for a few days, and we decided to stop by for some coffees and ice cream before our train home, since it’s not too far from the train station. The ice cream was fabulous and the coffee that we had was also very lovely. The staff were very kind and helpful as well, next time we are down in Eastbourne we will definitely pop by again!

we were at this restaurant last year, and it was good food and good service. we therefore went back this year. but this was a big disappointment. We were here on June 30. The service was poor and the waiters were grumpy, but the food was good. we went back today for lunch. The waiters at work were zero interested in their customers. we were placed on a table, but wanted to sit further into the room in front of the windows. we were not allowed to do this as the waiter did not want to assemble the tables. We sat for a while looking at the menus and then had to ask to order. Then we got a sour look and were asked to wait. Despite the fact that there were only a few customers sitting down. We therefore decide to go. an incredible shame as the food is good, but the service is poor. Looks like only young teenage girls work there and have little interest in their customers.

I can not recommend it. Went here for an ice, which is overpriced with 3,70 for one scoop to takeaway. Surprisingly we were charged with an extra 60 Pence for the Waffle. Felt a bit scammed. Staff was very demotivated Addition to owners reply: I sincerely apologize for not having noticed all the great taste awards. Apparrently there are too many of them - so that they cover the price tag for the extra costs of the waffles (which must be award-winning, too - if you charge an extra 60 pence) If you suddenly have to pay 8.60 instead the expected 7.40 as a walk-in customer (which you do only realize AFTER the ice was already prepared) you have every right to feel scammed. Yet, I trust you take this as a valuable feedback and not for justification via google :) Cheers!

We ate at this restaurant twice whilst in Eastbourne for the tennis championships, excellent food, especially the pinsa pizza which is made solely by them. And don’t forget to try their homemade tiramisu - Delicious!! Great staff who are friendly and hard working.

I had gelato only. I went for the cherry flavour ice cream and melon sorbet. Both were good enough. The sorbet was a little too sweet, but overall pretty good. 4 stars for the ice cream.

We wanted a break from the hotel as we had been crewing a vintage coach all day. We walked in without booking and were shown to a nice table at the rear - much quieter than the area by the main entrance. Service was good, and we had no complaints about the food but wine prices were on the high side even dearer than our hotel, so that is an ara they could do with improving

Gianni’s is one of the more authentic Italian restaurants. The food is - without exception - fantastic. Good portions, full of flavour and with fresh ingredients. I will never stop recommending them to others looking for a taste of Italy in Eastbourne.
