We have been using Gills for a few months now. We usually order from their website but are unable to add reviews. We have not had one bad meal yet and last weekend we ordered a large order which was serviced without a hitch. Good food, lovely people.

batter on fish greasy fish dry and tasted funny all batter on everything else was horrible and weird taste to mushy peas only thing going for it was potion size was large and free tango needless never order from here again

Ordered here for the first time on Saturday 24th August, certainly won't be the last. Pizzas were made fresh with fresh ingredients. Fish and chips were huge and tasted amazing. The owners were really nice, real down to earth, hard working couple who went above and beyond.

Fish and chips is our go-to food whenever we are visiting a coastal town but due to dietary restrictions we cannot have fish and chips from just any chippy and instead have to call few places to check that they use vegetable oil instead of beef drippings and don't fry sausages in the same fryer as fish and chips. This is how we found this local gem. The takeaway is a family run business and the owners are very welcoming and friendly. Takeaway was tidy and clean, no wonder why they have 5/5 food hygiene rating. The fish and chips was freshly prepared, portion size was big and it was very tasty. We also had a donner pizza which was yummy and our kids loved it. In addition to fish and chips and pizza, they have other halal food options in the menu. We will love to visit this takeaway again on our next visit.

We once went in to Gills and tried their chippy- we hadn’t tried any local chippies round here yet as we’ve just moved here. We was met with such lovely custom and the food was amazing. We hadn’t had a chippy in a while since and thought we’d give their delivery a go… This is by far the best chippy we’ve ever had- and i’ve tried a few. The curry sauce is delicious, the gravy thick, I personally prefer unbattered sausage and I got what I asked for. The mushy peas are so good! I can’t fault it 5/5!

Ordered meal at 18:20hrs arrived 20:45? Contacted fish shop on 2 occasions asking when meal would be delivered. The second phone we received an apology on the delay. Very disappointed as the meal was cold and not very nice to say the least.

Ordered over an hour and a half ago, no answer from the shop and no update on here

Ordered a large curry, got a small pot. Ordered a large portion of chips and a large sausage, got them in the same carton and the same size portion as someone getting a sausage meal deal…. Paid more to get less and no drink included. Cash only or you’re forced to use the app and not get any deals.

Will never be going here again was absolutely vile and the red no way that was fresh battered fish almost 100% positive we were given oven cooked fish you get from a supermarket there’s wasn’t a single bubble in the batter the fish hadn’t been fried. Everything tasted on grease absolutely rank avoid at all costs shouldn’t be classed as a fish shop at all

Ordered for the first time tonight from Just Eat, large fish and chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. Also ordered 12" cheese, ham, and mushroom calzone. The order arrived super fast and the fish and chips were very tasty, although they could have done with being a bit warmer! The calzone was nice. I do think cheese should come as standard on the calzone though and not really count as 1 of the 3 toppings, but apart from that I have nothing negative to say about this take away and would definitely order from them again!

They Don’t use bechemal sauce on parmo insead cover in a Tomato sauce it’s rank garlic sauce has a funny taste don’t waste money 👎

I have been going for as long as I can remember but for fish and chips one fish on its own and a carton of peas just over £17 it's getting a bit pricey for us

Just ordered fish and chips and a 12 inch pepperoni pizza, and a large kebab, got to say all the family enjoyed their meals, will be back soon, plus a bonus on top customer service was very good.

Very good chip shop food, use them about once a month and very consistant.

This has to be one of the best if not the best fish and chips shop we’ve visited. The service was excellent and friendly which is exactly what you’d want when going to an independent shop. I wish I could give them 6 stars. As we didn’t have cash, we used JustEat on the spot to order (so glad the lady told us this as we were walking away). We waited for our order in the shop and could see the owners’ attention and hard work going into each order. The quality of the fish and chips was excellent, tasty, fresh and not overly oily. The area did look a bit tired and didn’t fill us with confidence when we got there initially but the shop is worth definitely visiting again. We were glad that we made the little detour from the sea front. The service and quality make this place exceptional.

Food was a 10/10, the Parmo's are a little different than usual because they don't have bechamel sauce but WOW ! Their own sauce is absolutely perfect. Gives the parmo a more savory/ restaurant sit down meal taste. Everything was perfect and delivery was quick! Can't wait for our next cheat night !

Ordered for a resident who had learning difficulties, he realised that he was short a couple of quid so I had to ring up to remove a couple of items from the order. The staff were lovely about it and took the items off. Amazing customer service I would rate them higher if I could.

I’ve always had the best customer service at this shop. They do their best for customers and always have the best produce. High quality food always served and it is good to see this shop I have used for all my life come out of the pandemic with the same great quality. I’d recommend for everyone visiting.

Recently went to gills after not been for a few year and the food is still as good as when it first opened, the staff make you feel friendly and are really nice people, would recommend anyone to go here
