One of Eastbourne's classiest restaurants. The evening menu is of a high standard. Very impressive. Delicious flavours and high quality ingredients. The cocktail menu is top notch too. The staff were brilliant, in particular Tori who served us. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed a delicious and innovative dinner in the beautiful setting of the Glass House. The set menu is small, which I prefer, as it ensures that each ingredient is freshly picked and prepared on the day. The vegan Wellington was incredibly tasty, served with a rich gravy. My friends loved their fish dishes, which looked as if they had been freshly caught from the nearby sea. My dessert was indulgent—a dense and exquisite dark chocolate creation topped with a light pink cream and adorned with a delicate pansy flower. Maria, our waitress for the evening, was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend the chili and mango Margarita—it had just the right amount of kick to start the dinner perfectly!

I booked a table for my birthday with my family and booked this sitting over 3 weeks ago with the expectation that we were getting the menu that was on the website. I even got a text message the day before with the menu of website to confirm my booking. On arrival we were told the menu had changed the night before to the festive menu, there was nothing festive about this menu at all! It went from having steak, chicken and mussels. (Only reason I went was for the mussels) to the new ‘festive menu’ which was just fish with peculiar items like pigs in blankets with marmite! The kids menu was even worse with veggie Wellington and fish again. Clearly have no idea on what kids like to eat. Me and my family honestly eat bloody anything but this was the worse menu I’ve ever seen in my life! It was like someone was on crack making this menu! One of the waitresses was In her own world and hadn’t a clue about the menu or anything in the restaurant for that matter. When speaking to the manager he was also just as disappointed as I was, as he apparently expressed this to the owner multiple times but menu still not made clear to customers and he was taking the brunt of it, He was very apologetic. I get new business have teething issues at the beginning but this was just a complete shambles. Like I said it was my birthday, I had a 5 year old and a 3 month old baby along with family members now at 7pm we all walked out the restaurant. (It was completely empty! Should have known it wasn’t going to be great). Such a shame as the restaurant itself is beautiful! Ruined the evening.

I can honestly say, without exaggeration, that this place is incredibly disappointing. The food is overpriced and painfully basic, and the staff clearly have no clue what they're doing. My partner and I waited over two hours for something as simple as bread and olives during a very quiet period. To make matters worse, the portions are ridiculously small for the price. When the sharing platter finally arrived, it was a sad excuse for a meal—rubbery, underwhelming steak and lobster that was so poorly prepared, I had to use a bottle to crack open the claw, as the provided tools looked like something you'd find in a cheap Christmas cracker.

Lovely atmosphere and decor, and occupies a great spot on the seafront with fab views. Staff were friendly, smiling and attentive from the moment we entered. The food was really fresh and tasty, obviously using quality ingredients but not too expensive and really generous in portion size! Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, and lots on the menu that is different to the usual Eastbourne offering. My mum and I will definitely be regular visitors and are looking forward to coming back to try the cocktails!

Why are we not free of dogs even in supposedly upmarket places? I don't want to be yapped at inside while trying to relax. And for the price and calibre of the menu as well it's very strange. Dog actually sitting on a chair at the table eating dog food and perhaps cheese (?) out of its own tupperware messily. Off-putting. So odd, considering that further along was next to people ordering caviar and oysters! Not sure what sort of vibe they're going with but might as well ditch the oysters if it's a bog standard café. Food very good, chefs are a credit to the place. Beautiful. Waitress absolutely lovely. No marked entrance or exit but you are not seated if you enter through the wrong door, we were told.

Exceptional food, attentive and friendly staff, gorgeous environment and location - the Glass House was a wonderful find and a quality dining experience. Two generous small plates and a glass of wine for a little over £20 I felt was really good value. I wouldn’t hesitate to come again. My pork cheek and cauliflower dishes were my culinary highlights of the month, and I confess i would have been tempted to lick my plate clean if no one was around. Say it quietly…but this new beach side venue is a significant addition to Eastbourne nightlife. A stunning gem.

4th visit since they opened, wish things would improve. Decor is fantastic, what a top job has been done. Food is good. The latest visit had the sharing roast, which is really worth ordering. Shame is the service, to try and attract one of the five people around the bar to order a drink, difficult, wait 20 minutes for said drink. No one is seemingly leading the team, and you can get three different answers to a question. Front of house needs sharpening up a bit to warrant spending money.

Nice looking place and pretty friendly staff but disappointing overall. Had the Sunday family roast between 2 people at £45 because me and a friend were very hungry. Wouldn't feed 4 unless you have 2 children. Was told they ran out of apple sauce. At 5pm on Sunday that seems pretty poor and made the pork not as good and tasty as it could have been. Food was mostly cold or became cold very quickly. Roast was served in a big steel bowl which was cold and plates were cold. vegetables were rock hard and I know it's good to have them not overcooked but they were near raw in my opinion. Too undercooked and crunchy to be enjoyable. The plus was the meat even though cold was very nice. Told they didn't have any chicken left for the roast so was substituted for duck which was the best part of the meal. Very nicely cooked duck. Roast potatoes were hard to cut through as they were so well cooked. They tasted nice but gave you a workout! Over £120 for the roast and 2 other meals and a bottle of wine and 2 beers. Guess that's the going rate so not complaining about that just wish it was hotter, the veg actually cooked and not having apple sauce is a shocker!!Just go and buy some or some apples and make a sauce. Made me feel like I should have gone to a calvery for £12 each 😆

We went there to have a nice evening ordered a fries, tea, cocktail, and a soft drink. The fries arrived straight away and it was yummy. BUT we had to wait 30 min for our drinks to arrive, I’ve counted and in the restaurant it was 15 customers only…the waiters were standing at the bar, and I asked them 2 times where my drink was, on the 3rd time I went there and it was all waiting in the bar for someone to bring it up… I am working in hospitality, and this is very very bad service… The lady who brought the bills out was very nice (young lady in her 20’s), she actually took the cocktail price off…. The restaurant inside a very nice place, but I dont know what the manager is doing as on that night looked like no one knew how to bring a drink out…again I am working in hopsitaly in a very busy place…so waiting for a drink 30min its too bad for a restaurant like this. Please try to improve, or get a good supervisor/manager who will make sure this wont happen again. My mother in law had the same experience, this will drive the customers away…rather than keeping them.

First time we had been to this restaurant and was pleasantly impressed, good value for money, reasonable selection of food Had a nice buzz in the restaurant and everyone seemed happy, friendly staff If I could change anything I would suggest the chorizo in the risotto is sliced instead of chunks as it’s more appealing, good size portions and the flatbread crispy beef with blue cheese was exceptional, will be returning very soon, the only criticism I could say was you couldn’t tell who was staff as nobody was wearing any uniform, which I think they should even in a casual establishment But overall a very pleasant experience, you should give it a try !! 6 of us had dinner there last night and it was absolutely fab. We had the cod, bouillabaisse, duck, ribeye, desserts, cocktails, wine. Everyone loved their food. I had the bouillabaisse and wasn’t sure it would fill me up but it was packed with mussels, clams, prawns, fish, samphire, delicious! I had an old fashioned cocktail with a peanut butter twist, it was lovely! Three of us had the Affogato for dessert with caramel ice cream which is also a nice twist on the standard vanilla. Tried this for the first time as I like to support new local businesses. The location is idea and decor is lovely, staff are polite and attentive……However, the food was overpriced and average to poor. Plates were cold so the food was luke warm at beast, we didn’t complain as we had waited quite a while and had limited time. Breakfast is £15 and so so average. I also feel at that price a full slice of black pudding was to be expected rather than the half slice of bog standard product presented. I will probably go again, but just for a coffee!

We decided to give The Glass House a visit since it’s new and we’re local. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the menu; it felt limited, with not much variety to choose from. We ordered the ‘Reef & Beef,’ which is advertised as a sharing dish consisting of a 300g fillet, half lobster, two sides, and béarnaise sauce for £55. We found the food to be underseasoned, as both of us noticed that everything lacked flavor. Despite not having a particularly large appetite, my partner commented that he could have easily finished the dish on his own. In our opinion, the portion size should be increased by 50%, even if that means raising the price to reflect the change. We were disappointed with the food overall but are willing to give it another try, as we may have just had an unlucky menu choice. The atmosphere is lovely; the place is well-designed, and the staff were friendly and attentive - no complaints there. I’d suggest that the kitchen could use some tweaks to improve the dining experience.

We stopped by for an early lunch here yesterday. Lovely waterfront spot on a nice sunny day — US New England-style. Fresh and smart — just our kind of place…! A fairly restricted brunch type of menu. I had the mushroom hash which was good. My wife had the lobster roll which was nice but light on the lobster. Oat milk coffees and a citrus drink which were all good. We sat inside because there was no cover from the sun outside. On a hot summer’s day that would be intolerable for me. The last point is our only real criticism. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would happily visit again.

The atmosphere was lovely, great decor and feel to the place. Staff, Tamar and Angela were very friendly, attentive and patient, providing lots of information when choosing from the menu. I felt that the menu itself could be improved a little. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection, however I felt that the burnt Roscoff onion was not the best accompaniment to the meal. A whole onion is too much and it was a little dry. Perhaps a more traditional approach of a take on mushroom or tomato would prevent so many onions being returned to the kitchen. The Starters, especially the prawns, were excellent. I found the place clean and the staff efficient with tables being cleared and relayed quickly. I will return

A great location and an excellent layout, has great potential, however it's the service that will kill this place and make people not go return or recommend. It took 1 hour and 10 minutes for us to get our nibbles (jar open olives and cold cut carrots) and 2 hours for the main. In the middle of taking our order our waitress saw some people she knew and without saying anything just decided walked away to say hello to them and returned when she finished. Shen then came back 35 minutes later ask us again. Also rather than tell us that they ran out of the ribeye steak they just decided to bring us a fillet stake instead. Considering the options of restaurant's in Eastbourne, just due to the service alone this place wouldn't even be in the top 20. Definitely won't be returning here. It needs real readership and someone that is passionate about maintaining a high standard.

It’s a lovely space but was not what we were expecting. The reef and beef was £55 for two people, which involved half a lobster and rib eye. We presumed it would be for each of us. Half a lobster and ribeye for each person of the pair. We were so hungry it took nearly 2 hours to get our main. Very disappointed as the rib eye was a fillet not a proper rib eye. It was a very small plate and we were starving when we left. Very expensive and not worth the money. Also, I never had a waitress, just leave during taking our order. She left us all of sudden to hug some friends. Very odd me and my partner just stared at each other. The cocktails are nice but I order mandarin/ rosemary and the first one was lovely. Second one was full of gin no lemon in the glass like the first. No consistency at all. Sorry to say but we will not be returning and I won’t be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

So our visit to the Glass House was disappointing, it was a beautiful day so we opted to sit outside. Firstly the menus appeared well used and somewhat "tatty" my friend and I ordered, found prices really to be expensive, but we only wanted a lunchtime snack. - my mushrooms on sourdough toast, came, ordinary bread (white sliced) the mushrooms overcooked and when you applied your fork, lots of grease came out. This item was removed from the bill. Earl Grey tea served without a pot or any extra water....cups without handles, thats OK but not really sure, going forward how that will work. Housekeeping in the toilets needed checking, a lock on one of the cubicles was jammed on open, toilet rolls just left to help yourself - not really good enough if your charging top dollar guys !

Came when it first opened. Ordered two drinks. Waited patiently for about fifteen minutes, and had to remind a different server about our order. He apologised and swiftly returned with our drinks. No problem, put this down to a fairly busy time, and early teething problems. Promised ourselves we’d come back for a bite to eat once things had settled down. Here we are in Eastbourne Friday 4th October 1:50 pm. Sat down at a table outside in the sunshine. Waitress approached with menus, only to be told sorry we are only serving drinks, and prioritising reservations. Regrettably, and hungry, we left and took our custom, and money around the corner to The Beach Deck, where we had a delightful meal in the sunshine at a reasonable price. Seriously, having to make a reservation for lunch in Eastbourne on a Friday afternoon! Hopefully you get your act in order. Not the fault of your staff. Saturday 28 September 8pm Reservation Birthday treat for my daughter I feel I have to write my experience on that evening From the onset confusion with all staff including managerial as a special treat ordered the seafood platter for 3 people £105 When the platter arrived it was then evident the table was too small to serve this meal The majority of the seafood was to be eaten by hands no finger bowls etc to accompany meal the food took over an hour to come out and once it was served to us no further interest was taken by the staff at our table Whilst waiting for desserts the table adjacent to hours put there pet dog a small Chihuahua to stand on there table eating the remainder of the food left on their plates which we found disgusting to watch It took another hour to receive our desserts We did not complain while in the restaurant as the Assistant Manager was overwhelmed with complaints throughout our sitting My personal thoughts are the restaurant is perfect however staff, managers were lost within their duties one very off putting thing was the front of house chef who appeared to be eating with his hands food from behind the counter with his hands Our bill was thrown at us no conversation as to how we had enjoyed the meal the lack of control with the staff over paying the bill they insisted we had already paid it and happy for us to leave by the assistant manager as she was not listening however I called another waitress over and insisted to proceed to pay the bill Very bad experience would only endeavour to have coffee or drinks at your venue until you get everything sorted out

Went today having booked for lunch. The decking was busy with lots of people with menus but no sign of anyone with food in front of them…..went in and was greeted with a “my dear” - not impressed. Having said we’d like to sit inside we were told to “just sit anywhere” not shown to a table. The menu was then given to us but no order for drinks taken. The interior is gloomy with awful acoustics and the whole place not enhanced by much plastic greenery hanging from the full length of the building inside and out. After a few moments of studying the menu we decided that the menu was pretentious and unenticing, and that there are much better places in Eastbourne to eat so left. Meanwhile those outside on the decking were still waiting for service.

A beautiful restaurant on a perfect setting. We had the Reef and Beef which did not disappoint at all! Our Server Maria was courteous, friendly and made us feel very welcome. A true professional. We will definitely be back and loom forward to our next visit.

The newly refurbished Glass House is simply fantastic. Friendly waitressing staff, excellent food, and a wow factor interior. This place is a must for anybody in the Eastbourne area. However, a little bit of advice to the male floor manager. Treat your staff with more respect. They are your greatest asset and if you continue to be rude to them.. they will leave and word will spread about your management style! Kindness and respect costs nothings and you never know who your audience is.

So much potential but basic errors make this place not worth the premium being charged for the food. No response to phone (which apparently the staff say is in the managers office and can't be answered by them), running out of eggs, baked beans and avocado first thing for sunday Breakfast. No skimmed milk (or semi skimmed) and no decaf options. Turning away customers walking up that hadn't booked (space was available) and those that do get in can't order food if they've not booked. Most of these can be fixed with a little experience of what they're customers need (should have been part of set up thinking) but they need to learn quick.

Can not comment on food as we left after waiting 50 mins just for drinks.as I work in the hospitality industry I have never had an experience like I did.it was like no one knew what the hell they was doing not even the floor manager.

Can seat quite a few people but I imagine opening at pretty much the end of season they aren't too keen to meet the expense of over staffing. This seems to be the downside of a lot of the poor reviews so far where waiting is an issue and inexperienced staff. We booked for a very early dinner at 5.30 as the only other availability was too late, there were many tables free at the time but I guess they are being careful not to overload the kitchen whilst establishing themselves. We had 6 of the small plates on the menu between the two of us and found every one to be delicious. I'm gluten intolerant and the GF rolls offered were good. It was pretty busy when we left but still not to capacity. Staff were pleasant and this is in a nice spot. Hopefully the issues around waiting will be fewer as they find their feet We will definitely be back with friends

Oh man- we were so excited for the opening weekend. Staff did not have a clue, I was told right off the back that I would not even be able to get a drink, nevermind any food. We sat outside, waitress very remorseful, I still had to go into the bar 50 mins later to get 3 drinks. Having worked in the industry, this is not what you want on your opening weekend. Train your staff and get a decent manager, please.

I so wanted this to be a nice experience, loathes me to give such a scathing review, hoping the leaseholder does take note. Great setting, lovely building shocking service Arrived 15 mins early for our booking, waited for someone to seat us, Manager very nonchalant said 'just sit anywhere'. Sat at a table, next table full of dirty plates. Manager did say they were busy, inside half empty, so food would be about 30 mins, not a problem we would have drink. Waited 50 minutes for someone to come over and take our order for drinks, yes we did ask in between that time, got the drinks and one was wrong, called waitress over and she took it away to change, 15 minutes later still waiting. My partner went to the bar as we saw a pint sat there getting warm, they said no that's someone else's, you will have to wait as we have to pour so and so. We eventually gave up on food. The staff didn't have a clue, 3 behind the bar chatting, Manager serving food, other staff all over the place. The leaseholder nowhere to be seen, a new venture you would think they would be there every day for the first month making sure things ran smoothly. Complete waste of time. Oh and in that time the table full of dirty dishes and food still hadn't been cleared. Not often you see such bad service, this was in my opinion, an example of how a business should not be run. We won't be back.

Me and my mum booked a table here for 9am on Thursday just gone. My mum travelled an hour and a half to come as we wanted to try out the restaurant, the pavilion held sentimental for my mum so we were curious to see its next incarnation. I booked about 730 the same morning, my mum got there before me and was told they were closed for a private function! She mentioned that we had booked and not been informed of this. The gentleman was quote ‘uninterested and dismissive.’ I did message them directly on facebook the day it happened and have had no response. The fact no one had the foresight to turn off the booking system, or even when the manager started work in the morning think “oh wait i should probably call these people and let them know we are closed for a private function.” Is really testament to the disorganisation and poor training of this new team.

Walked in at 10.15 Sunday morning, there were 4/5 members of staff just chatting amongst them selves, had a quick glance around there must of been over 50 empty seats in the establishment . We asked for a table for coffee and they said they are totally full!! Going onto their website there are tables time slots available , the management needs to work the restaurant floor. Winter is coming and turning local residents away because the staff have to serve you will not be there long

We had been looking forward to this place opening.I hope they take all the feedback onboard as it could be an amazing venue!Based on our first visit yesterday... Pros: -Fantastic views/location -Stylish and relaxed decor -Delicious cocktail (rosemary & mandarin) -Willing and friendly staff -Tasty food -Waiting times not too bad (food was quick but drinks came half way through our meal) -Clean toilets Areas for improvement: -Lots of dirty tables -Customers need to be greeted in a more welcoming, professional and less stressed manner -On arrival we were told half of the menu was not available -Not clear whether you should wait to be seated or find your own table/order at bar or table service -Atmosphere felt quite stressful and disorganised amongst staff. -Staff need to be more attentive -PLEASE GET A PROPER COFFEE MACHINE,we can all tell the difference! I'm sure you'll iron out these teething issues and we'll be back to try the lobster roll!Congratulations on your opening :)

Absolute shambles! I went with a friend for beers and the service was very poor. The staff seemed totally overwhelmed. Then my wife went with my daughter the next day for coffee and ice cream. The terrible service continued! Waited for over 20 mins to be served then finally after asking multiple times got orders taken. Then the ice cream arrived after a long wait, melted. The coffees arrived afterwards (my daughter had ordered a iced decaf coffee) the ice had melted and it was caffeinated. And my wife's didn't come with the syrup she asked for so was too bitter to drink. They then went up to pay and the tills were broken so another long wait while they got that sorted. We won't be going back in a hurry!

Me and my partner had an absolutely fantastic time at the venue. Both the food and the staff were utterly wonderful, what an amazing addition to Eastbourne's coast. There is simply no other restaurant in Eastbourne that is even attempting to serve seafood like this place. I can even say that the hake dish is one of the best I have ever had! Despite the restaurant being fully booked and slightly hectic, the service was absolutely wonderful as every waitress we spoke to seemed very nice and attentive. I am definitely returning and will recommend it to anyone who will listen!

I popped in for a latte later in the evening and had perhaps the worst coffee I've ever had in Eastbourne. It was clearly not made by the barista and I asked the waiter to confirm and bingo... it was machine coffee, not barista made. A very bad move for a place in such a great location and design.

Very friendly staff and great views but the breakfast was massively overpriced with items forgotten and not particularly tasty, the hot chocolate was just brown hot water . Staff were lovely but didn't seem to have a clue what was going on.

So pleased to come across this place! The deck was perfect for an evening drink, spacious with a lovely view of the sea and the kids were entertained by the climbing frame. We had delicious wine and beer and so excited to see all the seafood on the menu- definitely next time! Lovely atmosphere, and really lovely staff. Can’t wait to come back and try the oysters!

Great location if you’re patient and want to catch some sunshine. No greeting when we arrived. When we finally met a member of staff we were told you that food was not available as they were busy. 60% of the tables were empty inside and 20% were empty outside. Asked a waitress how to order a drink and were told they would return to take our order. Same waitress passed by three times and still no order placed. After 25 mins we left. At a time when a new business needs to attract customers and ensure they return during the quieter winter months, they have got it so wrong. Lots of customers sharing the same opinion as we left. Good luck Glasshouse.

Service was uninformed and ridiculously slow. For a Saturday morning, they were unprepared, with many items from the small menu unavailable.eg run out of hot chocolate. Food quite nice when arrived. This place needs to improve drastically .

They never let you eat-in. The guys working there, remarked on us when we entered, saying ironically ‘all of these come at 9’ we went there at 8:47pm and when we ordered they told us its only take away. Upon asking when does the eat-in closes they said 8 pm, which i think is absurd. How can you take a desert with ice-cream home in rain when there is no parking nearby 😑

The food was ok but the manager a man was sitting on the food counter which is ABIT off putting when they take the food from this area. The others staff were lovely and so happy
