Golden City in Sheffield

Absolutely disgusting food last night! Not ordered a Chinese takeaway in 6 months & unfortunately made a BAD choice! The chips clearly were reheated & as for the Salt & Pepper Squid, it was definitely the night before’s left overs, warmed up, for over £6 a dish, there were only 6 pieces of squid, it was SO chewy AWFUL! Rest of the food was bland, is an understatement. We were so disappointed, at-over £32, what a waste of money.

No he tenido una comida para llevar en algún tiempo, sobre todo porque siento que la calidad ha ido a la baja en general en todos los últimos años, (debido al aumento de los costos) , y también porque siempre estoy a dieta! : ( El otro día recibí un folleto por el correo, pero pensé en darle una oportunidad a Golden City como regalo del viernes por la noche y ¡qué regalo! Hablé con un joven muy agradable que me repitió mi pedido por teléfono y me aconsejó que mi entrega sería de alrededor de 30-40 minutos. Llamaron a la puerta unos 20 minutos después, para mi sorpresa, donde otro buen tipo me entregó mi pedido con una sonrisa. Mientras ponía mi entrega, (había montones, suelo ahorrar un poco para mi otra mitad que la calienta al día siguiente, había más que suficiente para otra comida grande)! . Todo estaba caliente y humeante, la comida era deliciosa, todo sabía fresco. Recomendaría encarecidamente el curry de ternera que compartimos, (la carne era tan tierna) , y normalmente un montón de comida para llevar empacar la salsa con demasiadas cebollas pero no lo hicieron, lo tuvimos con arroz frito de ternera, de nuevo lleno de carne y sabor. También tuvimos un panqueque roll, wow, absolutamente exuberante, brotes de frijoles crujientes, ingredientes frescos y sabrosos, no tenía uno bueno como ese en años. También había una porción muy generosa de costillas de repuesto, pero no podía comer ninguno de ellos, demasiado incluso para mí, pero mi compañero dijo que eran muy buenos también! También compartimos una porción de chips. Mi hija solo tenía una porción de papas fritas, ya que siempre es insegura y normalmente no prueba nada nuevo en comida para llevar siendo vegana, tengo una salsa de curry cada uno, (todos somos demonios de la salsa de curry en nuestra casa) , pero el curry era más que suficiente, así que mi pareja no tenía el suyo y yo compartimos con mi hija, ya que eran todas porciones grandes, así que quedaban 2. Pero no se desperdició nada, mi compañero puede responder por eso. Pasan por galletas de langostino gratis de las que nunca he sido fan, pero a mi pareja le encantan y rollos de primavera que normalmente no me molestan porque no me gustan, pero tuve que probar 1 para asegurarme de que era vegano, agradablemente sorprendido de que era delicioso dejó el resto para ella. Creo que Golden City podría ser nuestro nuevo regalo favorito. Observé en su sitio web que tienen una calificación de buena comida / higiene y francamente no me sorprende, la comida habla por sí misma. Definitivamente los volveremos a llamar.

Excellent service, I needed to adjust some of the order over the phone after ordering on uber eats, due to some fussy pea and mushroom phobias! Dealt with swiftly, food arrived early, the driver was super polite, the food was excellent, thankyou!

Been trying to get a take away from here but phoned for past 2 weeks and all you get is a message saying we on holiday we open next day but they don't.

First time ever ordering from Golden city. Delivery was quick, the food was hot and the delivery driver was friendly. The food was brilliant very tasty. Atmosphere ate at home not bought instore.

Hammered my door after 1min wait. We have a 2 year old. When I opened the door I had to physically remove the man from my property as he thought my upset was funny when ive just paid for a 'Service'. Standards people Standards.

Delicious food, comes quickly and very hot on arrival. We always used a different Chinese in the area as we first tried it when we moved into hillsborough 5 years ago and stuck with it. As it’s now currently closed, we tried golden city and we’re not disappointed. It’s nicer and cheaper too!

Ordered from here last Wednesday. Had sweet and sour chicken and mixed meat in garlic and Chilli sauce. Very impressed! Delicious, fresh food and much better tasting meat than a lot of other Chinese places these days. Delivery very quick and food hot. Fav in sheff now

Terrible service from here today, 2 hours for delivery no apologies when calling. Food was cold and the special chow main was 99% noodles. Very disappointed as it used to be nice from here.

What has happened to this place. Used to be fast delivery with great food. After ordering 2 hours ago and still no food I'll not be coming back

Had food delivered tonight17th may 2023 has tried a few places at crookes not so nicerung this place to see if the would deliver they said yes . wontons Singapore fried rice veggie spring rolls chips curry prawn crackers egg fried rice couldn’t find any fault what so ever it was hot fresh an totally delish definitely will be going back just need to find out if the deliver to foxhill when I get home as was at sisters deffo Worth the 5 stars

We have takeaway fron here every 2 weeks. Beef steak in black bean sauce our fave. Good food. 👍 to Delivery drivers.

If you go to the shop, it’s not very impressive, but we love the food from here and have it on a regular basis.

Called in for a meal. Don't accept cards. Food was excellent, competitively priced & good portion size. Obviously set up for delivery & order & collect. Gave them 4 stars on service because they don't accept cards. Will definitely use them again.

The best Chinese takeaway in Hillsborough. Might not be the cheapest but you get what you pay for and this is fantastic. Good portion sizes always great tasting and gets delivered when they state and comes warm/hot.

I had high hopes based on some favourable reviews from some friends, but I have to say the dishes were a bit of a let-down.

This place is the best Chinese I have ever had! It’s so hard to find a decent Chinese because the quality is normally not good but this place is fantastic. Fully recommend the Double Happy! Be warned the portion sizes are huge so it would be ideal to split one meal between two.

Best Chinese in Sheffield hands down

I don't normally like Chinese takeaway as the quality does not tend to be good but this place is excellent. I have been 3 times and each time the food was excellent. I especially liked the duck spring rolls. Will be visiting again

No puedo recomendar esta comida para llevar china lo suficiente. Son súper amables, eficientes y rápidos y la comida es deliciosa en cada diente que pedimos.

We use Golden City for our regular weekend takeaways. We go in person rather than ordering over the phone because the wait time for delivery is always far too long and we're keen to tuck into the tasty dishes. Everything looks spotless and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. Regardless of how busy they are, I don't think I've ever waited for more than 15 minutes to get my food. Highly recommended for delicious Chinese food.

Always order from here, but this time the quality of the food has been terrible, chips seem like left over and refryed, sweet and sour chicken not properly cooked and seem frozen, chicken in the chow mein tough. Really disappointed the food is not edible, money down the drain!

Just placed an order over the telephone, a really helpful and pleasant sounding guy answered. Thank you, was attentive to the order and despite having no menu to hand myself guided me gracefully through ordering!! Much appreciated, estimated wait time of around 40 mins including delivery. Looking forward to hopefully an excellent meal. Thanks again all.

First time we've had a meal from here. Excellent! On time, hot and very tasty. The whole deal efficient and organised.

Singapore Chow Mein had no meat or fish in it, and no hint of spice. Kung Po duck grey and the two pieces of duck cold and covered with inedible fat and a sauce that tasted like syrup. Inedible. Ended up making myself a sandwich. Why is Sheffield so bereft of decent Chinese takeaways?

Lovely food, ordered for the first time tonight. All the food was fresh and hot. We ordered for collection and it was ready in 10 minutes. Great portion sizes and the king prawns are amazing. Highly recommended.

Fantastic take away, food was piping hot and tasted lovely. The portions were generous with loads of meat.

Excellent food , staff always polite

FABULOUS! We ordered the assorted meats and mushrooms. Big pieces of beef, pork, chicken and prawns with vegetables. All in a lovely sauce. We also had the duck spring rolls, which were great. Didn't have to wait long for order to arrive either. Recomend.

We ordered from Golden City last week and it was amazing.

Previously very good but just ordered on just eat and informed half hour later that they refused the order. No explanation given therefore will not be using them again!

Not tried the food yet.. Very polite on the phone. Delivery driver Rude, argumentative and very out of order! Review to be continued..

Después de haber probado la mayoría de los otros sitios de comida para llevar china en la zona de S6 es un firme favorito de la mía. La comida es coherente y está bien de precio. Vale la pena llamarlos en vez de usar JustEat ya que sale más barato!

Best Chinese I've had, all the food is fresh and not greasy. Staff are really friendly and helpful.
