Golden Star Market Weighton in East Riding of Yorkshire

Very disappointing. One of the worse chinese we've ever had. Very bland, no flavour at all. Kung Po Chilli chicken tasted of nothing and the Chow Mein, well, same. The mini veg spring rolls had the most flavour. Such a waste of money as we ended up binning most of it. Will not be returning.

Not sure what's happened here. Used to be fantastic but very disappointed this time. The place was much quieter than normal the young girl who normally answered the phone wasn't there. The chicken curry i ordered consisted of onions and a few small pieces of chicken breast in a runny thin curry sauce. Very poor value for money. Suppose I will have to try and find another Chinese now. Such a shame

Extensive menu, slightly more expensive than I am used to at my normal Chinese. Food good quality piping hot and they are happy to remove items from meals if not liked. Staff pleasant.

Young girl serving, so rude! Manners and being polite cost nothing… I don’t think the mask covering her face was hiding a smile what so ever!

This take away used to be fantastic but it's now chaotic with lengthy waits and rude staff (mainly the lady that is front of house and not the girl that answers the phone). I have used this place for years and orders always used to take between 10-15 minutes, these are now anywhere from 40 minutes to 1 hour and still when you arrive to collect an order at a specified time you are waiting anywhere from 20-30 minutes to collect despite the food being ready and sat going cold. The massively overworked (but efficient) girl answering the phone, taking orders in shop and checking and handing out food needs some help. My food was ready by it sat there whilst she did everything but sweep the floor as the shop is drastically understaffed. Either have someone answering the phone or stop taking orders whilst the shop is packed with frustrated customers trying to collect an order at a time you have specified. You appear to be willing to lose custom and loyalty over money and quickly need to find a balance to protect both. The standard of food has also dropped, I'll take my custom elsewhere.

I just had some beef with ginger and spring onions, and it's is the best Chinese dish I've ever had :) Just an edit because I noticed a few recent bad reviews since I originally wrote this. We just ordered there this evening and it was fantastic :)

it was disgusting, my chicken fried rice had a long black hair in it and all of the other food tasted disgusting too. the staff were all so rude, i went in to ask for a refund because of the hair and the man who was serving me was rude and arguing with me about it, he claimed that he told me on the phone to bring the food back when he clearly didn’t, he was just finding excuses not to refund me. i only get my money back for the rice, even though all of the food was terrible and low quality. if i could rate it 0 stars i would, i definitely do not recommend.

If I could rate a lower star, I definitely would! First time coming here and I can wholeheartedly say I will never ever be returning. Most disappointing, disgusting and disgraceful Chinese takeaway I have ever had to suffer through. Ordered chicken satay skewers and the simple fact of it tasting like a korma left me in a confused state, I was sure I ordered a Chinese and not an Indian. I ignored this and moved onto the salt and pepper chicken. It was an unusual sight, I'd say slimy looking, and it can only be described as a gooey texture. The vegetable rolls that are supposed to be crispy were held together in a soggy pile of mush. All in all it was a horrible experience for me and I never knew such inedible food could exist, horrendous.

Excellent.. my husband and I have just had our first takeaway from golden star market Weighton We orders two different meals they were both Packed full of flavour with generous portions. we really enjoyed it ,we will definitely be back..

I'm gluten intolerant and staff were very helpful. Patrick, the chef/owner helped me pick a dish and I had a choice of about 15. He also did me gluten and msg free fried rice. Food was delicious. Will now be getting a regular takeaway from Golden Star

Just tried our first Golden Star Chinese takeaway...am sorry I cant rate it very highly. The meat on the ribs was very tough as was the chicken. Prawns were lovely tho....we wont be returning ☹

The food really was not nice and rude staff

Absolutely the worst Chinese I've ever encountered. The whole lot went straight in the bin, totally inedible. Would have had more satisfaction putting the 20 quid straight down the drain.

Server not very helpful told me that they didn't have an order under the name provided two times even when I had checked with my husband that we had ordered from correct place. Didn't offer to take an order from me so drove away slightly confused. Husband then phoned to enquire and they said they had our order.

food is good and speedy and it gets 4.5 stars but the order taker/server has a right attitude. Its all well and good having signs saying customers being abusive wont be served. what about stroppy servers apologising when they make a mistake not accusing the customer of trying it on........and then no apology. She may be busy but politeness doesnt take any more time ......and IF its your error say sorry

My absolute favourite takeaway, great food but there's always too much vegetables for me.

Our take away was that bad I even refused to give it the dog. Blobs, of, what I imagine was, treacle in the sweet and sour? Ribs were not ribs? Just cutting corners to save a few pennies doesn't work.

If I could I would give it a 0 for terrible food and poor staff. We ordered a takeaway, a sharing starter for 2 the ribs were all fat and no meat and the satay skewers were like cardboard. For mains I ordered the crispy chicken chow mien, it was the most disgusting looking food I’d ever seen, the chicken was boiled not the slightest bit crispy, the cabbage was like mush the baby corn on the cobs were green and the mushrooms were like rubber balls you couldn’t even put a fork in them. This was all sat on top of a solid lump of what looked like month old noodles. When I took it back I was met with no apology from the staff, just blind ignorance. Will certainly never go back.
