The best food and the best service we coup have asked for

Good burger, excellent smoky flavor, make sure you order medium. The Goodman burger. Only thick cut chips, would be good to have thin chips too. Service was patchy, we ordered 2 burgers, only one arrived. After that as well, service was sloppy and rushed. Also there's no good side salad for there burger, just a very simple Caesar.

The Classic steakhouse in London. First time going and I was very impressed. This is a traditional establishment which champions quality above all else, Service was first rate, very accommodating, chatty, warm and welcoming. We had a dry aged shorthorn bone in Sirloin and it was absolute perfection. The selection of steaks from different cattle breeds was something I had not seen before and I can't wait to try a belted Gallway or a black Angus next time. Sauces were well made and very generous, served in very well used gravy boats, sides were limited in scope compared to other similar establishments but expertly done. Can't fault them. Our starter of tempura prawns was also generous and expertly cooked. Both Cocktails we sampled were also on point. Would highly recommend and definitely go again.

A great restaurant. It wasn't our first choice to eat there on New Year's Day, but it was well worth it. The service was great, our jackets were taken to hang up at the table. The service explained to us directly what meat looked like, etc. The service was very attentive. After we pointed out that something about the meat wasn't what we wanted, they were very accommodating to us. The meat tasted very good, as did the side dishes (potatoes and mac and cheese). In the end the visit was very worth it, great Aperol Spritz (you don't find that often) and a very good wine selection.

I visited Goodman Restaurant on Maddox Street yesterday for dinner with my wife and some friends. While enjoying our meal, an unfortunate incident occurred—a lady at the table beside us accidentally knocked over a glass of red wine from our table with her handbag, spilling it all over my wife. She offered a brief apology, but that was it, despite the obvious mess on my wife's clothes. What truly stood out was how the restaurant staff handled the situation. The team immediately stepped in to assist, helping my wife clean her sweater. The manager also came over, genuinely apologizing even though it wasn’t the restaurant’s fault. They thoughtfully offered my wife another glass of wine to replace the one that was spilled (we refused...). Later, the manager returned, again apologizing, and provided their contact information to arrange reimbursement for the cleaning costs of her clothing (we politely declined again...). On top of that, when they bring the bill, they kindly offered a discount on the £100 bottle of wine we had ordered. I was genuinely impressed—not just with the gesture of a discount, but with the level of professionalism and care shown by the staff throughout the evening. I’ve dined at Goodman several times because it’s one of London’s top destinations for a perfectly cooked steak, and this visit reaffirmed why it remains a favorite. The food, as always, was 5-star, but this time, the service truly stole the show. The staff and management went above and beyond to ensure we felt taken care of, turning what could have been a frustrating moment into an example of exceptional customer service. Highly recommend Goodman not just for their incredible steaks but for their outstanding service. Thank you for making a lasting impression once again!

We had a really a lovely dinner, the waiter who served us was so welcoming and nice! My parents don’t speak english and he still went out of his way to make them feel involved when choosing a steak. Very great atmosphere and the food was amazing! Really lovely service and atmosphere

We sat at the table in the front area and the Spanish waiter was excellent. There was a small misunderstanding, and honestly, the team went above and beyond to make the evening memorable. I really mean, above-and-beyond! They put the service of other restaurants to shame. The ribeye and all sides were exceptional and portions were generous. Out of all the steakhouses around London, this one should be on top of your list.

Our group of five—four adults and a teen—dined at Goodman Mayfair last night to celebrate a birthday, and while the evening started with a few small hiccups, it ended on a memorable note thanks to the exceptional food and thoughtful service. We had an early dinner reservation at 6:45pm, and upon arrival, the restaurant was relatively quiet, with a handful of diners. However, by the time we left at 9:45pm, it was absolutely buzzing—a fantastic atmosphere for a celebratory evening. We were initially seated at a rectangular table, though I’d hoped for a round table (perfect for chatting and seeing everyone during a birthday celebration). Amani, the manager, explained that the round table was needed for a larger party. While this felt slightly disappointing, it turned out to be a non-issue—Amani later came to our table and graciously moved us when the other party cancelled. It was a small gesture that made a big difference to our evening. Thank you, Amani! Our server, Saffron, introduced “The Cut” – their specials board, showcasing steaks selected daily at their peak. While her explanation was a bit difficult to hear due to the background music, she was attentive and knowledgeable when we asked questions. We ordered fillet steaks for the whole table, along with a selection of sides, wine and cocktails. The food? Outstanding. The steaks were beautifully cooked (the stilton gravy deserves a special mention—it’s heavenly!), and the sides were absolutely mouth-watering. Unfortunately, one steak, ordered medium, arrived slightly undercooked and had to be sent back. While the staff handled it politely and efficiently, it did mean that one member of our group was left waiting while the rest of us tucked in. The wine service was also slightly bumpy—the first choice wasn’t available—but the alternative “orange” white wine we selected turned out to be excellent, so no complaints there. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food itself, coupled with the wonderful atmosphere as the restaurant filled up. We also loved the quirky touch of the “100 Club”—a cabinet full of knives with regular diners’ names engraved on them. Only 99 more visits to go! To top it off, the birthday celebration was rounded out with a surprise cake and candle, which the restaurant very kindly took off the bill—such a thoughtful gesture. Overall, Goodman Mayfair delivers delicious food with friendly, professional service in a warm and lively setting. Yes, it’s on the pricier side, but it’s worth it for a truly special occasion. A little less pretension and a touch more attentiveness at the start would make this a perfect 10, but by the end of the night, we walked out happy, full, and lighter in the wallet—exactly what you expect from a top steakhouse experience. ;0) Highly recommended.

A birthday meal. Wonderful steaks and sides. Lovely bottle of wine at a manageable price - they have bottles that go get into eye watering prices. Good atmosphere, bustling yet you could hear yourself talk with ease. Excellent service. Price is high, food quality warrants it. Cant say how many times we have been to Goodman Mayfair but its a lot!!! We love the steaks, the service, the atmosphere and the absolute quality of food that they always deliver. This last visit was brilliant fun as we started off in the bar area and had Popcorn Manhattan cocktails. we also got to sample the delightful stilton stuffed olives after we cheekily asked what they were. Next time we will try the Martini that has them as a signature. We aren't 100% certain but we think it was Saffron who served us that evening, she was enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the menu and made our evening pure class. Thankyou

We thought lunch was exceptional. The steaks and wine were excellent, but the service couldn’t have been better. The staff went out of their way to make us and my young niece, who is jet lagged, feel welcome and occupied. I can’t recall a better restaurant experience overall. Congratulations to the team.

A skill and expertise with meat that is very hard to beat. Certainly the best steak house in London and one of the top ones anywhere. I travel from Cheshire and my friend from NY three or four times a year just for the experience

What an incredible service I received from Victoria. I hadn't booked a table for my son's birthday and she went above and beyond to help me. With such genuine compassion and solution orientated thinking Victoria is a credit to the restaurant. We all know the food and atmosphere is Goodman is of a high level but it is rare that you receive service of this exceptional standard. I will definitely share my experience.

Phillipe, was our server, and he made it for us. We’ve dined at many places but never received service like he gave us for our son’s 18th birthday. Absolutely exceptional, as well as the food. We always use to go to Goodman in Mayfair, after we have tried, Gaucho, Zelman and Macellaio (South Kensigton), everyone has its own specilaity, but for several reasons like the atmophere, the service and the quality we consider this place between one of the best meat place, if not the best one for me. We just popped in for a quick drink and ended up staying for 2! Loved the place. Sat at the bar and were entertained by the bar staff who were attentive and friendly. Wine was great and the food (people were eating next to us) looked good and they certainly enjoyed it.

Exceptional food and top notch service. The menu is split between some fixed choices and the daily board with seasonal offers and suggestions. The meat is sublime and the sides complement it well.

I ate it twice in two weeks, the first time it was delicious, the second time not at all. It was my first time to eat American beef ribeye medium rare, the doneness was perfect, the texture was warm, tender and the meat was sweet. The second time, it was the same American beef ribeye medium rare, but the result was about 5 to 7 minutes rare, or even partially cooked, and the surface was over-cooked. It felt like the firepower was too strong and I couldn't control it well. The worst thing about the second time was the waiter. The name on the bill was "Camillo". I don't know if it was her. She didn't ask for good service. She asked for greetings and so on, but she couldn't stay silent for the entire meal... I came to ask if I was satisfied with the meal, but the dessert was thrown on the table without saying a word. The last toothpick and business card were also thrown on the table in a shameful manner. It is hard to imagine that this is the service level expected of a restaurant with a meal over 50 pounds. in conclusion. This is a restaurant with inconsistent quality, so please don't go there during busy times like Friday nights, otherwise there's a high chance you'll be pissed off.

I would say that this is a restaurant you go to for some of the best steak in London, but the atmosphere detracts from what could be labelled as a fine dining experience. In the images I have the feeling the Restaurant posits itself as a luxe intimate culinary destination. Instead I felt as if I was at an extraordinarily efficient and delicious gastro pub. The experience for a table of two, on a busy Friday night as two friends can be distracting and somewhat overwhelming. The food itself was outstanding. The service did not feel very personal and warm, the restaurant feels more like a churning chef line of amazingly prepared steak and sides. The side of mushroom altered my view on how a good mushroom should be prepared.

I visited Goodman's for my anniversary, whilst the service was great, with friendly and personable staff, the food was bland. Flavour was lacking in the Mac and cheese as well as the peppercorn sauce. It wouldn't be my first call for a steak. We had a sirloin and rib eye, new Zealand, medium.

Went to the restaurant for their steaks to celebrate. Amazing food, ordered two ribeyes and two filet mignon. The truffled mac and cheese is a must have. Service was the perfect balance between chatting and making conversation and letting us celebrate. The waitress noticed our celebration and gave us a cheesecake on the house. But the Goodman does care about our feeling，made us a brand new steak with less cooked at about medium. And even offered that dish on their account. That‘s extremely nice. I ordered wagyu starter, 250g sottish fillet steak, both medium rare, mushroom and spinach as sides. The wagyu, when I cut it, breaks and has kind of layers like slow cooked beef. I had wagyu in Japan before, this does not taste like wagyu. The steak had very little flavour, like the steaks I bought from supermarket and cooked myself. I had dry aged beef before, that does not taste like dry aged. I had to put a lot salt and pepper on it just so it has some sort of flavour. The creamed spinach is the only dish taste like with any flavour. At the end they put 1 pound on my bill for donation to charity, that is nothing on a 130 pound bill, but I asked them to remove it. I didn't trust their meat why would I trust them to do the right thing and donate? Anyway, very disappointing experience.

I was taken here for a birthday treat by my best friend. Was a place I'd wanted to go to for years as I normally frequent Hawksmoor. Goodman didn't disappoint. The Japan A5 Wagyu was just sublime. The first bite was just exquisite. The side were lovely too, we both liked the truffle mac 'n cheese. Finished off with the house cheesecake. We really enjoyed the meal and the service was top notch and friendly.

Our Woodman's experience was just fantastic. Philippe looked after us during our lunch. The food and service was just exceptional. We don't live local and were making a special trip. We will be back in 2025 that is certain. Keep up the good work!!

The new POLICY is OUTRAGEOUS and spoilt an otherwise GREAT evening. Here's what happened: My girlfriend is a traditional, feminine woman. At the end of the dinner, when the bill was served, we were asked if we want to split the ball....?! This caused my girlfriend severe distress because it violates her traditional value system. A couple of questions who this may concerns: 1) What kind of messed up couple SPLITS (?!) the bill on a night-out? 2) What kind of traumatised feminist do you have to be to ASK the staff to change their ENTIRE policy and ask EVERY table if they want to split the bill? Like if you wanna split it, tell the waitor that you wanna split the payment....But I get it.... Karen, I REALLY get it. Daddy was never around. Then you made poor choices with the men you dated. And now you don't like men that much. So, you wanna have POWER. Finally feel IMPORTANT and be seen. But you know what gives you REAL power? FACING your daddy issues, instead of projecting them onto others. PS: The steak and staff were great. Attentive, polite. PPS: I hope Karen reads this and finds inner peace. Love and Peace, Gene

Good selection of steak. Had the fillet steak here twice, with béarnaise sauce. Was delicious. The staff are truly fantastic and made the experience unforgettable. I will return again for a third time!

We dined for my partners birthday and we had the best time, all thanks to the incredible service. On arrival we all were given a complimentary glass of champagne, the table next to us was very loud so we were allowed to move, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was fabulous! Even the vegetarian option (which is rarely nice in most steakhouses). We had a complimentary birthday cheesecake for my partner which was delicious and the portions were great. Thank you particularly to our Italian waitress whom made a lovely effort to make things special for us!

This restaurant came top of a Time’s Out guide to best steak in London and it didn’t disappoint. Pleasant and welcoming staff and a good atmosphere inside even on a weekday. We’ve had a few chateaubriand cuts recently but this was up there with the best. Crisp outer and succulent inner, it had the whole range of flavour that quality beef can give. Excellent sides too - the mash and the mushrooms were both something special. Cheesecake was tasty but a bit heavy and wished I’d shared it. We got a nice extra dessert for the birthday in the group. Some good bottles on the wine list to suit most budgets. We’ll be coming back. It was excellent.

For me this is one of the best restaurants in London, the steaks are amazing but most importantly the service is 10/10.

We visited this lovely restaurant on Saturday night for the first time. I was a bit apprehensive, as I thought it was going to be a bit pretentious, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The restaurant was buzzing when we arrived but we were seated and ordered drinks almost immediately. Our server - Carlos was a fabulous and attentive waiter and couldn't have done more to make our visit enjoyable. The prawns I had to start were utterly delicious and quite a generous sized plate for a starter. If I'm being picky I thought the scallops that one of our party had were very small for the money, but that's just my personal opinion. The choice of steaks is bewildering but the help you receive in making a choice gets around that quite quickly. All the steaks we ordered were beautifully cooked, my only comment would be I wanted a smaller steak than I was able to order, but that's only due to the size of my appetite. The sides were absolutely lovely - the creamed spinach with gruyere was to die for, as were the Josper roasted onions. But for me the best of all was the Mac and cheese - it was glorious. I could have happily eaten it all ! By the time it got to dessert, our party was almost too full to partake, but we managed to find room for a strawberry semifreddo and a cookie sundae which we shared between four of us. Both were great - especially the semifreddo. We had a thoroughly great meal, with excellent service and just watching the staff as they served all of the guests was entertainment in itself. Food was excellent with patient and courteous staff. The servers were perceptive and asked if we were celebrating something. He offered to bring a celebration/congrats plate with a chocolate muffin and ice cream at the end of the meal. Very nice gesture!

I’ve been to the Goodmans in Canary Wharf and had a great steak, so coming here after a theatre visit seemed like a good idea, So if you come here just have the steaks and sides as they are very good. Don’t indulge in starters or deserts as all the ones we had were terrible . It’s like all the attention is in the steaks , So go but just have a steak.

My husband and I went to Goodmans to celebrate his birthday. Our waiter was the lovely Philippe. He was warm, friendly, helpful and funny. He made the experience all the more special. We were also helped by a lovely gentleman called Camillo, who was also wonderful.The food was UNREAL and in the words of my husband, “the best steak I’ve ever had”.All in all a gorgeous evening with GORGEOUS food!

As a steak lover, I can confidently recommend this restaurant to anyone craving an exceptional dining experience. Honestly, this has to be one of the best steak places in the world. I’ve travelled the world eating steak this is my favourite place. I go here on my birthdays and took my wife here after I proposed to her, she loved it too. My personal recommendation is the fillet and the Spinach, this is delicious. The atmosphere is very cosy and relaxed, staff are also very friendly. 5 stars

Very delicious steaks, we had fries and mashrooms as sides love the fillet steak, also the mashrooms were too good, the fries also is yummy. The portions are huge and the taste is very delicious worth the money. I am a celiacer (gluten allergy) and they have quite a selection of gluten free options and they are well aware of it. Definitely coming back!!

It never disappoints. Beautiful aged meat, perfectly cooked. Great wine selection. Service above and beyond. The location is perfect to escape the hectic pace of Oxford and Regent streets.

Went recently on a Saturday. Overpriced, our steak was overcooked and then wine served at room temperature. Reluctantly served another at room temperature.

Good, but the quality of the meat has gone downhill. Have been coming here for the last 15 years and was previously my go-to recommendation for 'best steak place in London'. Not sure I'd recommend it now. Large group of us went last week and we ate a range of different cuts of beef from different countries. Everyone across the board was disappointed (so it wasn't a one off) and felt that the food was OK, rather than amazing, as it always used to be. Bit of a shame really.

Lightning protection is really unpalatable, very burnt and painful, and I feel like my money has been robbed.

Excellent food, attentive, friendly staff. It was very busy on the day we visited and there were delays with our order. However, the food was excellent and well worth the wait. Happy to visit again. Highly recommended.

We returned to the restaurant, we had really enjoyed the 4 previous times we had gone each time we came to London, the meat is quality, which is always the case but my favorite dish had unfortunately changed recipe has my great despair….This is the Goodman Burger which previously had a delicious addition of beef bourguignon-style pulled meat, it was a real treat… now the burger is really ordinary, nothing more. Personally I only came for this burger so I am definitely disappointed and I will only come back if the recipe changes but if you like meat this restaurant will please you.

You'd be hard pressed to find better steak than at Goodman. Quality of food was excellent. First time at this branch, as all my previous visits have been to the City. Didn't find the atmosphere as good nor the service at this one.

Oh soo good steaks. Tallow aged ribeye and an A5 Japanese wagyu sirloin. Oh mercy! Only way it could have been better if the plating of the steaks had some tiny bit of melted butter. Steaks looked a bit "meh", which is complete opposite how they tasted. Im splitting hairs but when u pay a lot, you expect a lot.

This restaurant was great. The service, food and atmosphere were all top notch. The ribeye was particularly outstanding.

We had an amazing time at this wonderful restaurant. The food could not have been better and the staff were tip top.
