BEST Sunday dinner we’ve ever had. The beef was soooooo delicious. Sticky toffee pudding to die for. Thankyou Sam for looking after us

Service couldn’t be faulted and the food was good value and well presented. Love the venue and got a window seat with that lovely view. Our waitress Sam was friendly, efficient and lovely. Deffo come here again.

Sadly this pub has been on a decline for a while and is now plummeting. It’s our local so wanted to give it another try for the new year but sadly nothing has changed since our last few visits last year. It’s actually got worse. The young lady and young lad front of house are all that keep us going. They are lovely and polite even though all we heard during our visit were complaints. My starter was the bbq chicken which was lovely. My child had garlic bread which was good. My wife had ‘ Creamy Garlic Mushrooms’. The ‘s’ being important. A slice of bread arrives with a Singular mushroom (not plural) and some sauce. We raised our concern and were told they agree it’s wrong and said that’s what they now do. Point 1. Whilst we sat waiting for our main, we discussed our concerns and disappointment of how it was going down hill. However we then got lite entertainment in the form of the chef arguing with the staff. The bar manager expressed to the chef in his own words ‘what is going on? I am bringing every plate back half eaten…’ the conflict went on and got heated. The lovely young lad bar side tried to usher them out of the restaurant. Two chefs then discussed the whole thing bar side. The mains then came out. Nervous we were. I had chicken burger, my wife had duo of chicken and our daughter had pizza. My burger was nice but only had a slither of chicken… maybe 7mm thick. The onion rings were inedible. Our daughter’s pizza was direct from Iceland and looked like a flan. The centre wasn’t even cooked. My wife’s duo chicken was a lump of boiled chicken with a drizzle of sauce. The rice was flavourless and possibly a packet rice? Desserts- we didn’t bother. We didn’t want further disappointment. Overall - the front of house staff were all fantastic. They were sadly equally as disappointed. They understood and agreed with all our concerns. They rectified and dealt with our complaints very well. However, I really wish we just walked away with full bellies and great memories instead.

Lovely country pub, staff friendly, good selection of food Only negative is that soft drink prices are a bit expensive - £9.10 for 2 pints of Coke Zero! Aside from that would recommend and would come back!

Tom and Stefan provided excellent service. Food was lovely. We were seated next to a radiator which kept us lovely and warm during January. Food was decent I had the vegetable grill which was great in size however my partner had the mushroom pie and I felt that could have been bigger, despite this all round Good experience. Will be back again

Roaring fire good food and service

Well we met up with a family member before Christmas, who travelled from Manchester. To say my meal was awful would be an understatement. I had the chicken fillet, which was dry, the cabbage was under cooked, and the sauce looked like congealed fat from a Spaghetti bolognase after cooking the mince. My last experience was no better. I'll not be back anytime soon.

went in for a family meal on the 30th and we were so impressed!! the food was delicious not to mention the portion sizes were amazing! full plates = full happy belly’s!! Tom was amazing, so attentive and friendly, will definitely be returning soon, 🔜

Inviting environment and decent food. However over the years it slowly slipping. Today was inexperienced service. No second drinks offer having got first at bar, no desserts offer having to call for bill, waiting to pay bill and so forth. It's going to be tough this year service and hospitality needs to be top notch.

My fave of the chef and brewery pubs locally. Catering well for gluten free, lovely roasts with ample veg and a fabulous garden! Love it being dog friendly too

Table booked for 9 people lunchtime 1230 on 30.12.24. Service very slow , all 4 real ales run out ,that's bad management. Took about 40 mins for starters to arrive and another 40 mins for main course. Didn't seem to be enough staff on for a full restaurant. We won't be back

Great staff Excellent food Was a family meal for 16 so pre ordered our menus which I recommend as every course came out together piping hot with the perfect time between courses

Had our company christmas dinner there. It's a beautiful old pub, clean with lots of atrmosphere. The beer I had was kept well. The dinner was a let-down though. Baked Camembert for starter, 2 of out the 3 pieces was empty and just a hard crispy shell. The roast turkey dinner had potatoes and parsnips that were anemic and not cooked through, very small portions of veg (3 sprouts) and yorkshire pudding that was soggy with oil that run out when prodded. It was a shame as the turkey and pigs in blankets were beautiful. Puudding was ok, but I think the chocolate bombe was supposed to have a runny centre, but was solid. So great atmosphere, average food.

Food was good but the waitress kept saying “ you guys “ , not really acceptable to someone three times her age. Guys belong on the bonfire in November. Apart from that, all good.

Usually do have a good experience in here but sadly as we were over our 10 people got a very cold reception it is Xmas after all we got told to move as blocking exit nothing like festive cheer, we r of course paying customer very rude waiter there.

Disappointing meal at the Green Man last night (Sat 7th Dec). I have been numerous times before and never been disappointed, so chose here for a meal with friends who has never been, and it was awful. The restaurant was busy, and there was a large table in but this shouldn’t affect the service & standard of food. We arrived, ordered and waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive, when the food arrived it was lukewarm, and my fish & chips tasted horrible. NOT ONE single member of staff checked back to check the food was OK, neither did we see any member of staff in our area of the restaurant to complain. When the plates were finally cleared, we were not asked “how was your meal”, just if we wanted dessert. After dessert, we waited a long time again for anyone to come, and on the end I had to go and find some to ask for the bill. When they came for payment, again we were not asked how our meal had been… Poor food, and poor service. I will not be going back, and will ensure others don’t also.

Table and surroundings were beautifully set and the whole atmosphere was first class.The staff were so friendly and helpful and obliging.To top it off the meals we had from the Christmas menu was absolutely delicious...it was well worth the price and was cooked amazingly

This restaurant is usually excellent, however the steaks we had were extremely tough, we couldn't even cut them up with the steak knives privided. Our friends, whom we treated, had fish and chips which was excellent. We complained, and the cost of the steaks was taken off of the bill. The service overall was very good, the location is excellent and it is very unusual to have a disappointing meal at this restaurant. We will go back as I hope this was just a 'one off',

Stefan and Tom were very attentive and a pleasure to deal with on my birthday meal out. Thoroughly recommended in this peaceful rural pub.

My dad took me here for lunch as he’s been going here for a couple decades and it’s his favourite pub in the world. The food and atmosphere were amazing and we were served by Tom who was very nice and attentive.

Very poor roast. Tough meet, cold sides which we had to send back to heat. Won’t be visiting again. Very disappointing

Booked a table for two. Warm welcome to the restaurant even though we were late! Moved from assigned rickety table with ease. Must reiterate the lovely young blond lady who served us was service oriented. My fish was cold, she immediately swapped it out for a hot one! Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful views.

Pre-booked for dinner with friends. Slight wait for table although pub was not busy. Had run out of Green King IPA! Roast dinners were running out but we got our first choices of everything. Nice food especially the veg which were freshly cooked and not over-done. Good atmosphere.

Another super evening in the Green Man, so lucky to have this as our local. Popped in for a hot chocolate and a brownie after a chilly walk in the rain, ended up staying for dinner! Great, freshly cooked pub food, and a lovely warm welcome and smashing service from Tom behind the bar (as always!). Also enjoying the log fires and festive decorations…❤️
