Lovely food, excellent service, great value for money. Great for our family, pre-booked a table for 8, had a great get together before Christmas. Perfect meeting place to travel to from different areas. Lots of parking too.

Had a lovely all-day breakfast. I would highly recommend it Staff were polite and courteous. Food was delicious. A5 RATE

This place is never disappointed us, we have been here so many times and everytime is just a great time. The staff are professional, friendly, hardworking and overall a credit to their workplace. If there is a delay they will keep in you informed. They are so quick to clean the tables to get it ready for the next set of people to sit there and if there is a big group they are more than happy to make up a couple of tables so they can all sit together. Very accommodating. They food is always fresh and hot and taste great. The prices are very good for what you get. Would always recommend this place to anyone.

Wonderful Thursday morning brunch. Highkey would reccomend. Friendly staff and short waiting time for food to arrive. Personally would reccomend the pancakes as they are not too sweet and a good sized portion. Best part is the deer statue in the corner. Every year I come here there is the deer statue. This year it seems the deer made a friend. Overjoyed to hear that, named the big deer Kai (My name) and the smaller one Pickle. Overall Terrific

Cannot fault this place, friendly welcoming staff, good food and great value, spotlessly clean including the toilets.

We come here a lot, and have never had bad food. It isn't exactly cordon bleu but that doesn't matter. It has a little chef feel about it. This is my favourite place for brunch and I highly recommend the bacon brunch just superb.

Saw on Trip Advisor that it had Gluten Free options but upon arrival found that there were no GF safe cooking areas. The GF food would be cooked with non GF food. We would have spent the rest of the hospital with either a very poorly little girl or worse in hospital! The GF meals were 3 curry option's on a chalkboard which stated that they were all cooked with mustard! The staff were very apologetic when I highlighted that GF food can NOT come in contact with ANY Gluten.

Stopped on the way to our holiday in Devon. A lovely breakfast with a good selection, reasonably priced and good portions.

Just along side Exeter Racecourse on A38 this is a good stop off place en route to Plymouth and Cornwall. I think it’s an independent establishment and it’s both clean and well appointed. Staff are friendly and efficient and the food is good albeit slightly overpriced. It’s definitely worth taking a break here.

Nice full English large breakfast but quite expensive with a cup of tea now. Almost a tenner for a breakfast is expensive and then to charge £1.60 for a cup of tea is a step too far I think. Nice meal but quite expensive

We often stop here for breakfast/brunch, great food, good prices, friendly staff, very clean, tables sprayed and wiped when cleared. Refreshing to have a place you can rely on to be consistently enjoyable.

I have to say I wasn’t expecting much, I assumed it was just a road side cafe but I was very pleasantly surprised. Excellent food, lovely staff and just an all round nice place. It’s quiet dated decor wise but it just works and adds to the nice feel of the place. Would highly recommend and will absolutely go again. Very child friendly very welcoming and not many places have all of that!

Missed our turn off foe the A30, and decided to stop for lunch here. So so glad we did! Amazing lunch, awesome hot chocolates, and the service was superb as well. Just a shame we couldn't bring our dog in, but aside from that, everything was superb. Thanks to all staff 👍

Stopped here on way to Looe from midlands, had a nice cooked breakfast, all the usual ingredients, they are happy to make amendments to the menu.. i.e. toast replace fried bred!

There are many places to have a breakfast nowadays, but Haldon Forest Diner provide a great breakfast at a good price. Great service in a clean environment. It may look a bit dated in the inside, but it’s what a breakfast should be. Great place to meet friends, whether a ride out or a days walking on Dartmoor. It’s not off the beaten track as is right next to the A38 on the west / south bound carriageway. All the staff are friendly and approachable and a service with a smile (and eye contact) something that doesn’t happen often anymore…

Just had lunch here. As always it was lovely. Reasonable priced, quick service, friendly staff and clean. Would reccomended to anyone, even for just a quick Pitstop

Title says everything really. Food was good, and cheap. Waitresses friendly. Manager less so. Sunglasses stolen by a ‘regular customer’ from my table, shame because it seems like a nice place otherwise.

We are local to the haldon forest diner and we eat there regularly. The atmosphere and the food is outstanding we love this place. We often spend around 30 pound that's 3 adults dinner and drinks and we are always full for the whole day....

Often pop in here with my biker mates, easy parking, warm and clean, large cafe menu, great coffee, really good value for money.

Go too place for honest good value food. Liver and bacon is a firm favourite, as is the roast. I'm well overdue another course

Visited Haldon Forest Diner for a yummy brunch today (24/08/2020). Never been disappointed with the service or the quality of the food whenever we’ve visited In light of the current situation (Covid) the staff were wonderful. Service was as good as ever and so was the food. Tables spaced out at a safe distance. Tables and chairs cleaned etc etc. Would highly recommend the breakfast omelette!!! Best cheesy omelette I’ve ever had

From the South East we had over six hours to drive. In post Covid times, take aways are easy to find, but somewhere to stop for breakfast importantly with toilets, is not easy at all. The Halden Forest Diner was perfect, very friendly staff, well setup for social distancing and a nice breakfast at a sensible price. What more can you ask for?

We stopped off for breakfast, which was well cooked, well presented and delicious. However, the "latte" was made from instant powder, which means I, sadly, will not be returning.

If you are looking for a breakfast, or lunch this is excellent choice. The first thing you notice is the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. It soon becomes apparent that this is a family run business and when we called it was decorated for Christmas with some care and attention to detail .As for the food great value and excellent quality just what you need,a lovely break when travelling to this part of the world. My congratulations to the management and staff.

Me gusta entrar aquí, sin la sensación de una cadena de restaurantes que no le importa más que el beneficio que puede obtener.La comida es excelente, con porciones de tamaño decente y un precio razonable para arrancar. The Haldon forests cafe serves one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Ideally located just off the A38, it is easy to access and has lots of parking. The inside gives the aesthetic of a pine forest cabin, one you might find in the midst of America, it feels cosy and warm with a good amount of comfortable seating. This is my third time visiting the diner and every time I’ve found it to be up to the same high standard. The toilets are always clean, the tables tidy and the food leaves you wanting to return! I have recommended this diner to my family and would also recommend it to you!

This is just off of the Motorway, quirky sort of 'Services/Happy Eater/Little Chef' sort of Diner - what strikes you straight away is the Menu where real 'Old School' Meals are displayed e.g Liver & Onions etc., All usual meals Breakfast, Burgers everything catered for & it was so friendly & super speedy service - would think they'd try & accommodate whatever your appetite was calling for. Tea served in sparklingly-clean Tea Pots with Hot Water Jug too - Dogs welcome in the Garden Area - Toilets immaculate - will make every effort to call into this little Independent Eatery every time I travel to Devon or Cornwall - 5 Adult family trip - 5 Drinks, 5 Piles of Grub - less than £30 - result - Well Done - Service as it used to be. Stopped here on way to Devon and arrived at 6:30 it didn’t open till 7 so gave us the chance to give the dog a walk. The diner opened promptly 7 and we was greeted by pleasant, friendly staff. We ordered the large breakfast and sat a table ( plenty to choose from ). It was a short wait before our breakfasts turned up pipping hot. The breakfasts was great and freshly cooked. The diner and the toilets are clean. Its a great pit stop after a long drive we will return.

Si tuviera que ser exigente, las salchichas podrían ser mejores, pero el tocino era delicioso y el resto también. Parada de desayuno encantador y muy conveniente. We often drive past this Diner but today we decided to go in as they open @ 8.00 on a Sunday. Very friendly staff, service was Excellent and the quality of the food was awesome. We had large breakfast being able to swap out things that we did not like and doubling up on the ones we do. Will defiantly be going back but not very often as our waistlines would expand too much, highly recommend a visit. It does also offer a great mixture of Lunch and Dinner if breakfast is not your thing.

We visited this restaurant on the way to Newton Abbot we ordered 2 Roast Beef dinners & a Turkey Roast dinner when they arrived they were on plates the size of hubcaps although it was very good none of us could finish it all there was lots of roast potatoes and mixed vegetables 2 Yorkshire puddings 2 stuffing balls & the meat we don’t get to eat a roast dinner that often but this was great value for money but next time I think we would ask for a smaller amount of trimmings as we would not be able to eat that amount unless we hadn’t eaten for a few days but we highly recommend this restaurant We went during the week so it may be busy at the weekend

I agreed to meet some friends for breakfast as this was about half way between our houses. I was really surprised that restaurant was bigger than i thought and very clean & tidy. There was a very good atmosphere, all the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent and great value for money.

I've reviewed this diner before but I've been back dozens of times since. It's a roadside diner, it isn't a gastro pub, it sells good food at a reasonable cost and the staff are very friendly and very efficient. It's good because it's independent but that said it's a shame there aren't lots more of these around the country (Little Chef wouldn't keep going bust if they copied their formula).

Great place to visit with loads to do. Our kids are leaning to cycle so this is a perfect place to bring them and finish with a ht chocolate. It's worth becoming a member as the car paring is pricey if visiting regularly. Good Cafe and facilities all round.

Food tasted amazing and for a very low price! Had a large burger which came with a good amount of chips and also a coke for only £9! Inside is really nice and is very clean. Also very friendly staff. Would recommend!

Lo primero es la amabilidad y la amabilidad del personal, pero tuvimos que preguntar porque no había opción vegetariana en el menú. Lo hacen a través de salchichas vegetarianas y tienes lo que quieres, así que fue excelente. La mejor comida cocinada en una cena y el chocolate caliente era fabuloso. La desventaja es que el té era de una calidad horrible y la chica trató de limpiar la mesa mientras algunos de nosotros seguíamos comiendo. No había un rollo de retrete en las damas, pero esto fue resuelto de inmediato por una mujer amable, así que no hubo problema. Hay personal que hay que felicitar, realmente bueno. La comida fantástica y caliente. Aparcamiento fácil y todo estaba limpio. Gran lugar, pero por favor comprar té decente!

Paré aquí en el camino de regreso de un trabajo de la mañana. El personal lo suficientemente amable (por lo tanto, pobre, no terrible). Hamburguesa con queso y patatas fritas estaba bien presentado, pero. . . ... ... la hamburguesa había sido cocinada en el microondas y luego quemada en el exterior o al revés, pero era tan difícil que hubiera necesitado una sierra para cortarla. Las partes que probamos tomaron una gran cantidad de masticar. El bollo también era bastante elástico. Las patatas fritas eran bastante secas, aunque a algunos les puede gustar eso. Mientras intentábamos comer, 3 miembros del personal se reían unos a otros en el fondo. Muy desagradable. Te hace sospechar si se estaban riendo de nosotros tratando de comer esa basura. Nada podría redimir esta comida, ni el terrible cansancio de los años 80. La peor comida que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo.

This place is perfect for those that like traditional English homely food. The service is very friendly and it is very good value, the food is nice enough for what you pay. I would probably take an elderly relative here.

On returning from holidays, our last treat would be to have a meal here.

Some places are clean, unpretentious and fairly ordinary but that very fact makes them worth visiting. This is one of those places.

This diner servers the best breakfast around,used to be little chef but now private,we live near but go to the diner because the food is tops.The breakfasts are so good but you couldnt eat 2,I struggle to eat 1,its all freshly cooked and realy tasty,the lunches are first class ,my cousin always stops here for a steak lunch when he comes to devon.Lovely grub.

Good basic well presented food in good quantity and value. Something for everyone on the menu. Very friendly staff. We visit every year and has always been good. Disappointing that dogs can’t go in, there is outside seating but very noisy traffic on the A38!

Must have driven past this diner hundreds of times and recently decided to call in on our way home to Cornwall from London. The signage should be abit further back because the exit you need to take on the A38 is right on you as soon as you see the sign. Plenty of free parking outside. We stepped inside and felt like we'd gone back in time. The carpets, decor and furniture are old fashioned. We were greeted with a smile and told we could sit where we liked and to order at the counter. There was a good selection to chose from although it was a fairly basic menu. Reasonable prices. Lots of deserts and although we didn't have desert ourselves the table next to us did and they looked huge. I had a pasta bake with salad and chips, there was plenty of food on the plate but it was more about quantity than quality. Not bad value though and it filled me up. A quirky little place which is worth a visit if you're on the road.

Visit here whenever I fancy a English Breakfast .Very clean which is important and friendly service. Independently run and it is clear that everyone work very hard. Breakfast portions are generous and good value.

We were travelling back to Plymouth and with The Haldon Forest Diner ideally placed at the top of Haldon Hill, we stopped off for Breakfast. Plenty of Free Parking and a Large Dining Area with Seating both Inside & Outside. A good number of Staff on duty each with - it appeared - their respected tasks to assist the Customers. Good Selection of Food & Drinks on the Menu and reasonably priced.our Breakfast Choices were a Breakfast Bap with Bacon, Sausage & Onion Rings and a Cheese Omelette with Beans, Mushrooms & Hash Browns with a Side of Toast, Butter & Jam. Drinks were a Mug if Tea & Cafitiere of Coffee.

As you approach this restaurant you are welcomed by the wonderful arrangement of flowers in pots, all the way around the building. Everywhere so clean and tidy and it does not change when going inside. A lovely welcome by the staff and brilliant food.The best place on the M5/A38 for breakfast.

Was on my list of comfort stops on 400 mile drive and i nearly missed it.....Signage could be better. however worth the heavy breaking. comfortableplace clean tidy and good brew. cake also good.

Last time I stopped here it was a Little Chef. Now it's an independent diner and very good. Tidy car park with bird proof bins, toilets cleaner than I have seen in a hospital and excellent food.

Passed plenty of times but stopped this time, food cooked to order which is a noce change so nice and hot, accommodating for varied dietary needs. Place may look a little dated but everythings is spotlessly clean and tidy alot better than most stops throughout M5/A38/A30 service areas. Reasonably priced food. Those that have complained about quaility off food its typical service station food don't expect more but its fair value for what it is. They are also quick to clear tables and keep the place clean and tidy which is a nice change.

Every time we come this way we stop here for breakfast as per usual we had a fantastic breakfast with great friendly service, as always we come down to every 4 or 5 weeks and have never had a bad breakfast this is the best in the south west for food a must if passing this way

Always start off here before our holiday in South Hams for a breakfast. The full english is always piping hot and delicious and we will keep coming back!

Went here after our family went to Young Driver (another facility near to the cafè) and I ordered a fish and chips which was wet and cold. We also got a giant Yorkshire pudding which came with vegetables and potatoes and with onion gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was soggy, the vegetables were half cooked and the potatoes were just disgusting. Left me feeling sick after. Would never go there again and would not recommend anyone else going.

Stopped in here again after racing at Taunton with my family and a friend. There was 6 of us all together, we all had something different and a drink each and it was £50. Everyone was happy with their meals not one complaint. We have been in here several times and have never been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. A great way to end the day. The only down side is that it shuts quite early, but i suppose they work hard and need to shut some time. Well worth a visit you wont be disappointed.

Not over busy but the food took an age to arrive. Ordered a child burger which was awful. They used the same size bun as a normal burger but with a small, dried up burger that just sat in the middle; was like an island of bread with a tiny bit of meat in the middle. Short of dosing it with ketchup/sauce etc., was probably inedible, even some lettuce would have made a difference. Adult meal was mediocre and not over hot. Won't be visiting again for a while. The waiting staff were quite good though.

Well worth stopping for a meal break on your journey south on the A38. Good wholesome food competitively priced with a good menu choice. Meals were ample and appetising. Staff were excellent. A cut above the average roadside restaurant diners.

This place is weird, it’s like a time warp, we stopped for breakfast, the best thing about it was the beans the rest was such poor quality. Sausages tasted horrific I dread to think what cuts of meat are in them, they had clearly just been out in a deep fat fryer the hash brown just tasted of dirty oil. Tinned mushrooms, seriously!! To top things off they still had a Christmas tree and reindeer up

Really friendly and weren't rushes one but even though we didn't realise we had stayed way past closing. Food was okay, kids meals and steak special good. Mixed grill a little too like breakfast. I would definitely return.
