Just what's needed to get you started in a day. Service always great from Alex & Amanda. Dogs welcomed with a smile. Ideal for having some breakfast and getting some work done for a few hours too. The breakfast menu includes hot drinks and continental in the price... very good value!

Had a great time here . We spent the new year here bringing in the bells for the new year at the dinner dance that was held here . Fabulous night ,staff were great ,food was great , dj was great . Excelent night . Prices were great . We also stayed at the hotel . Great clean rooms great price. Had a wonderful stay .planning to visit again 😊😊😊

Cozy environment, quick service and delicious Scottish breakfast

Not been to The Highland Gate for a while till went for lunch with my best friend today for a wee catch up. Been newly decorated since visited and is lovely. Quite quiet today which i had booked a table online in advance in case was busy but there was plenty tables empty at 2pm. Food could not fault and Calum was very friendly and attentative. I will definately return and would 100% recommend a visit and easy to get too as just over motorway. See you in 2025 :-)

Very comfortable overnight stay. Nice evening meal. Excellent full Scottish breakfast. The grab handle in the shower bath was a most welcome feature

Absolutely brilliant breakfast with Santa this morning, our girls loved it, staff were all fantastic and breakfast was lovely, and Santa was excellent, a massive shout out Callum for an outstanding event, service was superb.

Santa experience and breakfast with grandkids. Great price for what you got. Manager & staff were very lovely and attentive. The manager interacted so well with the children. Children played two games. Santa was great as well, interacted well with children & families. We all had a wonderful time, will definitely do the Santa experience next year. Thank you

Excellent, as always. Lovely to stay somewhere so friendly when we're heading south and perfectly placed for travel. We got there from a late ferry just in time for food and had excellent Sweet Potato Curry. Good breakfast too, to set us up for today's travel.

We visited the highland gate last Tuesday (10/12/24) and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Calum was our server and he went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed. We had 3 children under 4 with us and when the food came for the children, Calum transferred it into cooler plates so that it wasn’t too hot for the children. Food was enjoyable, everyone had clear plates. From the extra beans, to making sure we had drinks etc, nothing was too much for the staff. Thanks again. We will be back.

First time my wife have been here. It was a random stop-over, just off M8, on route from Glasgow to Perth, no great expectations. Had totally delicious meal, beautifully cooked, nicely presented. Pleasant, efficient service. Reasonable prices. Will definitely be back whenever passing.

Stayed in the hotel and it was filthy!

Was out for a family birthday lunch and expected fresh food, frozen steak pie and steak which we had to send back twice. The service from the blonde headed woman who said she was the manager was awful stood over my mum to see if her steak was OK. This service is ridiculous. Wanted steak medium done this was still rare on both times .

The food was mediocre and the waiter continually called my wife "pal". Also a great deal was made in the adverts about the 30% off offer. It was only when the bill arrived that the waiter told us this didn't apply to the Christmas menu. Yes, it's there, well down in the small print, but we showed the staff our voucher BEFORE we ordered and they still took our order from the Christmas menu and said nothing. This was infuriating and on top of the very average food will guarantee we'll never be back.

Great service for our group of Veteran motorbike enthusiasts. Myles was the star of the show making sure everything ran smoothly. The food was tasty and the service was friendly and seamless. Thanks to all involved.

Dined here today (30/11/2024) and was seated fairly quickly despite not having a reservation. The young lad who seated us said he would be back to take our drinks order. Ten minutes later, he still had not shown up, so I went to chase him up at the unbeknownst to me hotel reception desk which is next to the bar. He acknowledged me and asked where I was sitting (even though he seated us just minutes prior to this!) but came over promptly to take the drinks and food order. The Camembert that we ordered wasn't served in an acceptable or edible state as we felt it wasn't melted enough. We brought this to the attention of a staff member who apologised and replaced it with an acceptable version. When we were paying at the bar, the young lad with an English accent behind the till asked what table number we were at, then said he couldn't find it on the system, but checked again then eventually did find it?! He wasn't overly friendly, polite, or customer focused. The Christmas decorations however were lovely, and it is a nice restaurant decor wise in general too.

The Duty Manager Myles was absolutely outstanding! We had a lunch for well over thirty of us and he made sure that all in his team made everything ran like clockwork for us. Great food, excellent service. It is very rare to find someone as good as this. Shout also to Makenzie - very polite, positive and hard working. Highly recommend this place when Myles is at the helm.

Dropped in on the off chance to grab a seat. A big thanks to Shelby for making us feel welcome and taking care of us. Food was great, will be back.

The waitress was lovely besides that everything was awful. Ordered kids starter (carrots and hummus) the carrots looked like they have been left out for days. Never seen such a thing! How they could serve that to kids is disgusting my poor kids even asked what was wrong with them. (She says oh I will let the kitchen know) My partner and I ordered camembert to share, camembert was just cooked texture was thick and gloopey. Meant to be thin and watery. For mains we got steak asked for medium rare came rare and no onion rings which they tried to charge for.Food was poor for such a nice place. My sea bass was OK. Asked a lady for coins from 5 pound note as they have a kids area with machines. She was very rude or should I say racist as I am not Scottish. She took out the tip jar making like it was a mission. Why have kids toy and sweet machines!!! Made me feel like a criminal as she didn't want to hand the coins over while I gave her the cash. Like I was going to run out with the coins. Can't believe I spent £90 on food so shocking. Could have gone back to the river house for that amount and be served food worth the money. Will never return and would never recommend. FYI when working in hospitality staff should be friendly regardless.

I honestly can't praise this place enough, in particular Calum. I'm a University of Stirling student who drives an electric car, I didn't have enough charge to get home and I had a uno deadline due in at 3pm. So at 10.30am I turn up and plug my car into charge. I went in and asked if it was OK to study here, Calum was lovely, he set me up in a nice quiet area that had a power socket next to it, told me to help myself to the buffet and showed me where the coffee machine was. It was so nice to have someone take the time to make sure I was comfortable instead of just saying "yeah sure." My deadline has been met, my caffeine is up and instead of being stressed about my work, I've left here with a smile on my face. Thanks Calum. May your pillow always be cold and your fridge always stocked.

Went in today as it was a special occasion and can I just say the woman that greeted us at the start was very dismissive and didn’t give us a great welcome, I get it people have bad days and we are putting it down to that on this occasion. Mackenzie who was lovely and made the occasion a whole lot better, so attentive and really went above for us. Brought our food out to us and made our desserts 10/10. Thank you so much. Really is an asset to your team. Well done Mackenzie 🥰

Booked here on booking thinking it was the hotel. In the end we end up in a hotel across the street, much less luxurious than the restaurant. The beds were not clean with hair in the beds and the sink was clogged

Bright, clean restaurant. Staff were lovely and friendly. Cameron waited on us and was very attentive. Unfortunately adult meals arrived before the children’s but the manager on duty was quick to notice this and chase them up before we said anything.
