Always excellent food and service. I have been coming here on and off since the 80’s

Just had a meal and had a voucher given to us last time we went which the very rude waitress would not honour because the envelope was opened which we did not know . We would not have gone if we had to pay as much as they charged. Plenty of other local places are doing deals . Would not go back

Lovely family lunch for 10. Great food and excellent service. Top marks to the very patient waitress who didn’t mind having to navigate our golden retriever who was taking up most of the floor!

Two top quality choices from the extensive daily menu which simply could not be faulted. (Many gluten free options available) Well kept cask ales excelled including the irresistible Lakes Pale Ale. First class efficient, friendly service add to a most enjoyable evening. Booking recommended to avoid disappointment.

A superb lunchtime gathering with family from different parts of the country. Everything was delightful. Special mention for Olivia but everyone in the kitchen and front of house obviously works very professionally to bring out such super quality food so efficiently in such great surroundings. We will come back.

Such a wonderful occasion at The Highwayman for my mum's 70th Birthday. We dined in the private dining room, 21 of us. Although the rest of the pub/ restaurant was very busy the service and food were amazing. All our guests were extremely impressed with the friendly staff, atmosphere, food and overall experience. We were really well looked after and couldn't fault a thing. Outstanding value for money.

We are regular eaters here. The food is fantastic and 87% of the menu is Gluten Free suitable for my wife. The staff are friendly, the prices reasonable and the food amazing. Also, it’s worth going just for the hot Tripple chocolate brownie which is the best chocolate pudding I’ve ever had- and I’ve eaten a lot, believe me!

Absolutely delicious & fantastic food. Really great menu. Good range of beers and ales. One of our favourite restaurants in the area.

I have been to the highwayman a few times, but not for a while. A warm, cosy welcome as always awaited us. We had booked for an early Sunday teatime, showed promptly to our table. Roast pork was tasty, with a good variety of seasonal vegetables. Fish pie was excellent, jammed with big chunks of fish and prawns. Fish and chips, fish was huge, unfortunately a little tasteless, although the homemade tartar sauce made up for that. The mini desserts with hot drinks were an excellent idea as we couldn't have managed a huge pudding. I had the mini black forest waffles. What a delight that was. The staff service was attentive. We only had one issue when the wrong dessert was brought out. This was rectified pretty quickly and with an apology. Would definitely go back when we get a chance. It's a great place serving local food.

I shared a lovely evening with family, the meal was lovely, the company was lovely too.

Wow! wow! wow! I am a vegetarian who has been diagnosed with coeliac disease. I love food, but 98%+ of my dining experiences are extremely disappointing; but not here. An amazing menu choice for a change, which are absolutely NOT just a token offering …….. and no compromise for ‘regular’ diners who may choose any of the GF labelled options. For once I ate like a queen and not a pauper; without the usual disappointment of a ‘less than average’ dining experience. High 5 to all and a big thank you for restoring my faith in dining out. I had the cheese and onion pie as my main course and then sticky toffee pudding…. divine. Fabulous food, fabulous venue & fabulous staff. Can’t wait to return and savour the rest of the menu.

Family Sunday roast, the pub is absolutely beautiful and so big! Staff are amazing. Very attentive yet happy still to chat, quick service for food too and it was all really good. Definitely was worth travelling too!

What a lovely establishment! We had the Steak Burger with fries and Bangers & Mash. Both meals were very tasty. Staff were very attentive and helpful with Gluten Free options available. I will definitely be returning when I am back in the area.

Excellent service and quality food

Our family party of 10 was well looked after. Eva and her colleagues were very attentive but not unnecessarily so. The food was excellent and the various allergies were deal with professionally by the Chef.Highly recommended and we will be back when next we are in the area.

The pub looks great in a nice village. Lots of parking. Looks great inside. Busy and a nice buzz about the place. Took a while to get served as there was a bit of a queue and not so many staff on the bar. Food was nice, some unusual options compared to many places. The tandoori prawns didn’t have much flavour. The burger was nice very chunky and lots of chips.

Visited tonight for the first time as we were in the area, we are fairly local though (40 mins away) and we will definitely visit again. Friendly and attentive staff, food didn’t take long at all to come out and it was rather busy - the car park was full, which speaks volumes for how good the place is. The food was amazing. I had the buffalo chicken wings to start and my partner had the duck fritter. Lovely flavours. We both opted for the lamb for our main and wow, best meal I’ve had out in a long time. It was all lovely and hot, the staff were on it - asking if we wanted more drinks and if everything was ok, just how it should be, and perfectly timed. Never felt rushed or that we had to wait too long for anything. The Christmas Fayre menu looks fantastic so we will definitely be back then to try, thank you :)

Wow!! we came for Sunday Lunch. I don't normally go out and have Beef & Yorkshire pudding. As we always feel we make it better at home! Until now...on a parr with mine. 6 meals ordered...all hot 🔥 which doesn't always happen! Lovely desserts. I had Pear and coconut ice cream others had Sticky Toffee Pudding as well as profiteroles. Goes without saying but 'we will be back soon" .

First time we have been, while we are staying in the area, and what a superb meal we had. Staff were pleasant and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend for Sunday lunch!

Had a great family meal at the Highway Man, reasonably priced and a varied menu (with gluten free options) and a good selection of draft beers. Staff were polite and engaged in conversation. They even have a box with reading glasses - random but actually a nice useful touch!!! Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

We love this place! We've taken our boys here for years - no other place on the planet can beat the Highwayman's burger and peppercorn sauce, according to them! We've never been disappointed, the food has always been fabulous. The staff are also incredibly welcoming, attentive and friendly. Amy, the manager, runs a wonderful eatery with a very homely atmosphere.

I stopped here and had a lunch time meal with family. The place was busy and the staff did well to fit us in. service was excellent and the atmosphere was very good. My wife had the shoulder of lamb and was raving about it for days. I tried the bacon chop which was also excellent and made a nice change from your usual gammon. A great place that we plan to visit again when we are up this way next.

We called in after a sunny day in the lakes although we didn’t have a booking they found us a lovely table. It was very warm and cosy the decor is wonderful, we both ordered the steak burger and a portion of onion rings which was tasty but a huge portion and we certainly didn’t need the onion rings. The service was excellent especially our young waiter Robert . All round a lovely meal.

We had an absolutely amazing trip to the highwayman, last sunday for a roast dinner. I had heard good things before but it really was amazing. The food was delicious, the service was fast and very friendly. We arrived early and they seated us with no problem with a drink whilst we waited. Lovely staff, lovely atmosphere, brilliant food. we will definitely be back!

After being recommended The Highwayman in North Lancashire by friends, we visited yesterday for lunch. Really lovely very dog friendly Pub Restaurant in a gorgeous village. The service was excellent, the lovely lady who looked after us was delightful, ambience and decor is perfect for us. Some pubs are a little dark for lunch but this was spot on. The menu was interesting, not your generic pub grub, all perfectly cooked and good size portions. Although we didnt have wine the list was varied and well priced. We will definately be back, i guess the other customers also loved it too as the atmosphere was brilliant on a busy midweek lunch service. Lots of tables but well spaced out …. Loved it thank you !!!

Great place. Must mention the fish pie which I forgot to take pics of - it was packed full of fish , lots.of salmon and served super hot, freshly cooked with lots of green veg. Great choice. Friendly staff every time I have been here, super attentive and always there for you before you need to ask. Gets busy so advisable to book

Food came quickly and well presented, was tasty and very nutritious ! I couldnt ask for more, I'm really glad I gave this place a try, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone travelling within the local area. The service was quick, chatty and felt very accomodating. A perfect way to end a walking day.

We thought we would try the Highwayman after finishing the 3 peaks as we were in desperate need for some good quality food and the Highwayman delivered! Top service and delicious food

We were a party of 4, who dine out regularly together, and all of us thought this was the best meal we had enjoyed for many a year. When we arrived at 7.45pm for an 8.00pm booking, the Highwayman was clearly having a really busy Saturday evening. Our table was not ready, so we were seated elsewhere with drinks. By the appointed hour, however, we were at our table and studying the extensive menu, which was 'right up our street' and each of us could have chosen a number of the offerings for each course. The food arrived promptly, was well prepared with just a nice touch of artistry. We each had 3 courses and everything was delicious. We left feeling well fed and not begrudging the slightly above average price. It was well worth the little extra for the high quality of the food and the service. Well done, Highwayman!

Staff are amazing, food is delicious, decor is lovely, my only suggestion is the colour scheme doesn't match the logo of The Highwayman.

A late booking for a special occasion and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, staff friendly and attentive, a lovely bustle to the pub and they had a great selection of non alcholic drinks...even G &T!

We chose the Highway man to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary through recommendation and we weren’t disappointed, we invited twenty two guests it was a busy Saturday and the staff were so professional and friendly and thank you to the chef who cooked our delicious meals all we’re served at the same time and the hot food came hot . We all had a wonderful day filled with memories.Thank you

Really nice restaurant, not quite a traditional pub. We tried to wing it without a booking but was disappointed in the end. Had to settle for a pint - limited bar seating. Friendly staff and decent amount of parking. We'll try again for food in future and book.

A nice large independent country pub. Lots of space, spread through various areas making it fell large and cosy at the same time. Big beer garden, part covered. Friendly staff and they maintain good service even when it's busy. Good quality pub food with a varied menu.

A lovely spot in beautiful countryside. Food is given thought and cooked well, the menu caters for gluten free and vegetarians are also considered with some interesting options. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Interior is old fashioned pub (which we like) but clean and outdoors space is modern with a screen for watching sports too. Well recommend

Been past this pub hundreds of times and finally visited when we met our friends half way from each others homes in Halifax & Thornton Cleveleys. We had a lovely lunch, good food and very friendly and helpful staff. We will be returning with some other friends as soon as we can arrange it👍 Another lovely visit here same great service. Booked to come again in September. 👌

First visit, definitely won’t be the last! Staff were so attentive and welcoming, so much choice on the menu and the food was absolutely beautiful!

Short version: Lovely staff, nice food been a couple of times now and will happily return! Long version: we went for my father's in law birthday and they really couldn't do enough to help. They picked a table for us that made accessibility easy, very attentive and lovely staff. The food is good and tasty and they gave him a piece of birthday cake! One slight complaint is that it was very hot inside making it slightly uncomfortable but manageable. Would recommend the highwayman to anyone looking for decent pic grub

In a word, perfect. Great food well prepared and presented. Interesting menu devoid of many dumbed down options. Beautifully appointed pub but relaxed with lovely ambience. Staff are efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Large selection of beers and other drinks. Dog friendly which is a plus for me and there is enough space for dogs not to be a problem for other diners. We love the place.

This was my first visit, I had been recommended by a friend. From the second we walked through the door to leaving at the end of our delicious meal the service was excellent. There was a great choice on the menu, so much so that we booked to return the next evening!This is my new go to place and I would highly recommend you give it a try.

Totally boss - as are all the Brunning and Price pubs - lovely staff, food, and beer - and they have Frangelico, which is lovely in coffee - if you haven't been there, you have to try it - if you have, you'll already know how good it is...

Very pleasant surprise! Thursday evening and the car park was full. We had arrived fairly late without a reservation and were warmly greeted by the front of house. All the staff were very friendly and well trained. We would definitely return if we were local.

We both enjoyed our visit to The Highwayman, the staff were lovely and the food was Fab and dog-friendly.

Booked by my mum who is local, she goes to a walk organised by the pub and it's very community based. Sunday lunch was fabulous..well behaved dogs allowed in and welcomed. Menu was varied so choice for everyone. Lots of different spaces in the pub to suit small or larger groups.

Food was excellent 👌 service was superb 👌 would highly recommend Only downside ice cream portion with the sticky toffee was so small at least 2 scoops guys

Fabulous Sunday dinner with all the family. Food was delicious with great choices for kids and adults… it was great to see steak on the kids menu. We arrived at 5:00 pm and it was really busy lots of families.

Booked for an early dinner for our last night of our holiday.. Mushroom soup, very tasty..Shoulder of Lamb for my mains. My wife had spicy cauliflower fritters, king prawn curry...Glad we booked, as on leaving the place was mega busy.

Great place, good food, good staff been going to the Highwayman for years, never been let down.

Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful building, elegant decor, spoilt-for-choice menu, attentive service, and food that was fit for a Royal table. Open fires in colder months, nice outside areas for eating and drinking clean and well cared for everywhere, can not fault The Highwayman.

Lovely place, best lamb I have had in a restaurant

Lovely staff, very nice meet and greet, the roast beef was lovely. We had the bhaji as a starter which was very nice. Nice beers and wine served here. The only part that wasn't great was the roast potatoes which were reheats. We would go here again as everything else was good.

My husband and I dined at The Highwayman 05/06/24. We both ordered celeriac soup to begin and it was delicious. I ordered fish pie and once I'd broken through the mashed potato crust, was disappointed to discover it resembled fish soup. I needed a spoon to eat it. My husband's halibut meal was also disappointing. His fish was overcooked and the cassoulet consisted of just four beans! There was no vanilla ice-cream available for the sweets. We both felt the meals didn't represent value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming and our waitress was extremely chatty.

Great find, just outside Kirkby Lonsdale. Drinks and late lunch after walk were fab. Both plates were delicious, Cumberland sausage with mash and fishcake with poached egg and side salad. Large and spacious seating options available both inside and outside.

Food was amazing and very quick service. It was our first time here but we will definitely be back . We were there during the beer & pie festival and the pies were top notch . Staff were friendly and professional.

We dined in the evening and booked ahead, we are not local but the place seemed popular so I think a booking is recommended. My wife is a coeliac and the staff were very knowledgeable about what could be offered, and even better large parts of the menu are gluten free without any modifications which is a nice touch. Food was superb as was the drinks. 10/10

Brilliant service here, absolutely. Was a busy Friday night and we were treated so well, we really felt like they had the me for us and appreciated our business. I had I indian trout, onion bhaji, sag alloo ( little light on the sag) and cucumber coriander salad which was delicious and hubby had the fish and chips equally good. We were too full for dessert sadly. They have a fabulous gin menu, I had one of my faves, Chase pomelo and pink grapefruit but unfortunately for my husband, the freedam zero on draught was playing up and not being served.

The place was nice, and there was a good space between tables, so you did not feel cramped or squeezed in. Service was excellent, and I hate to say it was almost too good. We tend to like at least a few minutes between courses, but almost as soon as you had finished starters, the table was cleared, and the main was there, so overall, the meal felt rushed.

Popped in for lunch and had not booked but our lovely server (Rob) found us a table and gave us excellent service. The food was lovely - we both had the steak sandwich and even though my daughter changed a few things, they were very accommodating. The atmosphere was nice and there was a lovely flower display, which we later found out was done by Daisy.
