Hog & Hedge in West Devon

This motorway / Travelodge services puts all others to shame. Fabulous service & great food. Limited menu, but when it is done so well, it doesn’t matter.

A lovely, clean coffee shop. All the Staff were friendly and polite. The coffee was perfect and the food was delicious. Hog and Hedge was extremely busy but the service was impeccable. Well done to all the Staff.

Highly recommend H and H, the bacon sandwiches were delicious and served on hearty bread. High quality ingredients and condiments. Pretty setting and gardens. Didn't feel like you were at any old services!!

A brilliant alternative to a service station. Nice food, plenty of seating. Great changing spot of you have a baby - nicely laid out.

Beautiful place to stop over. Play area for little ones too which is a godsend for parents of toddlers on car journeys. Food is exquisite, amazing pulled port and roasted potatoes.

Expensive but good quality. Shame they weren't open for evening meal it would have been very convenient. Won't be back again

The food is cooked to order and comes from locally sourced farms. The quality is of a very high standard and a lot of effort is put into the whole customer experience. I cannot wait to go again

Without doubt one of the best..if not the best services I've stopped at. Completely natural fresh cooked food, dog friendly and super clean.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. We had a great cooked breakfast. Definitely would recommend this place great place for dogs too they are most welcome

Very expensive for what you get. £4.30 for a small lukewarm latte and £6 for a stale uninviting sandwich. Won't stop here again.

Looks like a great place. I just used the facilities, which were very clean.

As you can see, from the pics, I spent a lot of time here. I had 2 breakfasts, one brunch, one dinner. The food is of good quality. The atmosphere is nice. Big and spacious and tidy. There's also a small area for additional shopping of local items. I had the potato and leek soup with bread. Both were yummy. Loved that focaccia bread. I also enjoyed the cheese and caramelized onion toastie. Quite simple and filling. Really good quality granary bread. Had one full English breakfast, was good. And a breakfast sandwich on another day. The staff is friendly and courteous. Service is excellent.

Great Place, Great Food. We ALWAYS stop here when we are on the A30 and going past.

What a find! You don’t expect this quality and service from a motorway services. The best quality good, absolutely delicious. Well presented, lovely staff and environment. A real treat! Let’s hope more can follow!

We stopped off to use the toilet and ended getting some food for the kids . The food was a little bit pricey but all delicious food .

Really good food, a hidden little gem!

Avoid all service stations on the M5 after Bristol for this little charmer with its plentiful cake options! HOWEVER, can get very crowded in the summer and closes at 1700 on weekdays, even earlier in the winter months.

Little service stop. The inside of the building and facilities were great. The car park was a bit of a nightmare. On arrival a large lorry delivering something was blocking the one way system in thr car park causing a blockage. There was no warning of this until cars were already a bit stuck. Once this sorted itself out it was fine.

Staying nearby and went here for Sunday lunch. Our little dog was welcome and the server brought her a biscuit. The self-service station was easy to navigate. We all chose pulled pork toasties and they were yummy. Coffee was really good, so much smoother than Costa.

Nice little stop off on the way to Cornwall. Had a tasty bacon sandwich with a very pleasant cup of coffee. Toilets are clean and modern. Parking was a bit awkward though due to temporary closures.

The quality of the bacon and sausage was very good. I also had lunch (pulled BBQ pork with triple cooked potatoes) and it was extremely good. Recommend for sure!

What a lovely find this place was. We had meant to stop at Exeter but missed the exit. I'm so glad we did! Great coffee, pasties as they should be. Friendly staff and ..... they allow dogs in! We will definitely be stopping here on future trips.

Brilliant place to stop on the way down to Cornwall. Great coffee with perfect amenities for children. Our 19 month old loved it and a safe place to get out some energy, with clean toilets and a separate place for children’s changing.

Good cafe. Clean toilets. Needs to get the parking area sorted out as the space needs to be optimised, picnic benches for people using it as a service station would be good.

Didn't eat as it's a service on the motorway and I just needed a wee. Nice and clean, good parking, friendly staff (said good morning and smiled as I went past). Food smells good :)

Simply the best place to stop for hot food when travelling to Cornwall, highly recommend!

We had a delicious cup of soup during our stop on our way to Cornwall for the weekend! Something more special than your normal drudgery service station rest point and one to be recommended!

Invigorating stop. Great rest & grub on the way Cornwall. We stopped here about midway through a road journey and it was a pleasant surprise. The spot houses a small eatery that feels somewhere between a farm to table Cafe & quiet pub. The menu looked good but we didn't have time to dine, we went for teas & a package of Cornish fudge - lovely, though the hot chocolate drink was a bit more bitter than I'm used to. The atmosphere was clean and modern, but had a cozy feel to it. The staff were quick and helpful, all smiles.

Hog and Hedge is well worth a visit the food was delicious and the staff were helpful and friendly I would definitely recommend stopping there

Quick, tasty, and good value food

Stopped here twice off motorway during long journey due to its excellent baby changing facilities and safe space for babies to crawl around.

Great breakfast en route back home. I had smoked trout and poached eggs (goooood eggies!) and my husband a full hog breakfast. All served very promptly. All very dog friendly with water bowls and treats available. Possibly the friendliest staff I've ever met 😊 Would stop off again . Thanks Hog and Hedge gang 🥞🍳 🦔 🐖

Convenient stopping place for coffee just off the A30. Better than stopping at a motorway service station and good coffee

A bit overpriced but very nice.

We had a lovely breakfast here. The food was fresh, tasty and good value, the staff were friendly and we could take the dog in with us. It was well worth the short diversion from the A30.

This was such a relief after so many awful service stations - yes, it's not cheap, but neither are any stop-offs. At least this is good quality! Really excellent coffee, calm pleasant atmosphere, even a children's play corner.

ONLY TAKE CARD. NOT GOOD DICTATING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES TO WALK OUT EMPTY HANDED. Carry on down the road to the truck stop. Freshly cooked food and great service.

The menu looked great and it was recommended by a friend, unfortunately when we got there it was full, so ended up having a quick sandwich from the petrol station and sat on the benches around the outside of the car park. Will definitely try again when we pass next time.

Lovely service station (yes there is such a thing). Tasty food that is freshly made, great service and just a nice place to stop.

Fresh food delivered quickly, much nicer to sit in than your usual service station stop. We both had the roasted veg toastie with goats cheese, could have done with a bit of extra seasoning. Friendly staff and good coffee.

Bit of like a farm shop food is very expensive.But had what you need parking was easy.Toilets were clean a good stop off on the way to somewhere Disable access Not. Really a place I would return to.

As a service stop goes, this is one of the better ones to use. Parking can be a challenge as it gets busy and the spaces are limited (approx 40 cars) the cafe/ resteraunt is clean and the service was good. Toilet facilites for male/ female & disabled. There is a fuel station adjacent to the Hog & Hedge with a (i think) Morrisons in the petrol station for other items the Hog doesn't stock. Good spot to break with the dog, with tree lined area to walk in.

Just lovely never been to this company before, I'm going to try other Hog & Hedge out, when I come across them. Eye opening

I always try and make a stop at Hog and Hedge when I'm travelling. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is lovely. Nice clean and welcoming environment too.

Stopped here on the way to Cornwall the car park was busy but we just about found a space, if you do stop here the toilets are very small so you will have to wait for awhile.

Can't comment on the actual food. Staff seemed ok. Refused to overpay for food, sausage bun £7.50, when you can walk around the corner and get a sausage bun & hot drink for £3.55 from Greggs!! *Make sure you enter vehicle details as required for parking*

Stopped here on our way further into Cornwall to stretch our and the dogs legs. Decent sized car park, clean toilets. Decent food selection. Good for a quick stop. Dog bowl full of water just inside the door.

Tasty, healthly food in a relaxing and friendly environment - I had bbq pulled-pork on sourdough toast with a side of soup. So, it's not the cheapest; but there is a Greggs next door if that's your priority.

Always excellent service and delicious food. Today we had coffee (outstanding flat white) and gluten free toastie with gf cheesy potatoes and it was all superb. Thanks to all staff for being so attentive and dog friendly. Loving the little wild flowers garden at the front entrance. We can't wait to come back again!

Pulled in for breakfast, was expecting regular rubbish service food, but the fried breakfast was spot on! We used the self serve till which was easy. The food came very promptly to our table and the service was also excellent. Would use again.

Eye watering prices for a sandwich. Uninterested servers and terrible toilets, 4 out of 6 had no loo roll, hadn’t been cleaned in a while and nothing to dry hands on. Food was tasty but won’t be returning.

Pleasantly surprised at how good these services were! Having never heard of them before, they were suggested as part of an online search so we stopped off. It was quiet when we visited; we liked that it wasn’t busy with lots of people. There was a nice choice of products to eat in/take away, including decent vegetarian options. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Victoria sponge cake was delicious, and one of the best we’d ever tasted! Brownie was also very good and came with a free croissant (possibly due to us visiting near to closing time?) The croissant was fresh, buttery and also very high quality. Toilets were of a great standard too - nicely decorated, clean and with posh hand wash! Cappuccino was smaller than expected, but nice. Prices were probably on par with similar places, but we found the quality and service here to be far superior. We will definitely plan to stop at these services again in future!

Almost everything on menu could be made gluten free! Well awareof gluten/allergens. I had the bbq pulled pork potatoes, they were lush! Order at counter rather than screen if you have allergens. Also great coffee ☕️

Very bust with holiday traffic to Devon and Cornwall but parking was available. Dog friendly in the outdoor seating areas. The toilet areas are quite small, so expect to queue. Sandwiches were fresh and tasty but a little over priced but after all it is a service area.

Some good things and some not so good things. Its great they have put the ordering via a screen to one side and can now order from a living person again, so glad they saw sense on this! Food has always been good in our experience but the drinks are quite pricey. My big complaint though is something that I found quite insensitive and that was a hog and hedge branded Pork pie called squealer! This conjured up all sorts of unhappy images and even though I am a meat eater I found this name for their pork pie very disrespectful to the animal. Meat may be a necessity for some but that is still an animals life sacrificed.

Always try and stop here when we visit Cornwall, Always have great food, toilets are clean and staff are lovely.

Something a bit different compared to the usual motorway service trash. The sandwiches were expensive, even considering it was a service station and there didn't seem to be anyone tidying away plates etc so seemed a little messy.

I mentioned my dish had a smaller portion of pulled pork than expected and they happily topped it up. Fantastic services, friendly for young families.
