Had a great night here with excellent food and service. Amazing choice of dishes and drinks. Would highly recommend and can't wait to visit again

The Holcombe Tap is very Welcoming as always and excellent small plates, plenty of choice. A regular haunt for good reason.

Took my wife and three sons here after a little hike in the area, and we were absolutely delighted! The food and service were amazing, and we’ll definitely be back again, great menu. Such a cosy spot, especially with the log fire crackling away—it created the perfect atmosphere.

Six of us booked for Christmas Eve afternoon, the place looked stunning. Staff really really helpful and accommodating for one of our party who has serious coeliac disease. They were very busy but we didn’t have to wait too long for our dishes which were really tasty. The only tiny gripe was the croquettes were a little dry. Nobody went home hungry and we would certainly visit again if we’re in the area. Many thanks for a lovely visit

Every year on Boxing Day, my family and I pay a visit to this fabulous establishment. And, as is the case every year, we were all left blown away by just how great it is. The service was as phenomenal as it always is - the staff were prompt, friendly, and very attentive. There’s also a great selection of drinks - I had the Malbec, and would absolutely recommend. But once again, the star of the evening was the food. We started out with the olives, the bread and the hummus with garlic pitta. This was the perfect amount for 4 people to share. For mains, we each ordered 2 small plates and a side each. By the end of the meal, we were all absolutely stuffed!! I had the King Prawns, Buttermilk Chicken and the sweet potato fries. All three were lovely, but I have to give a special mention to the prawns - I can’t remember ever having better!!

Beautiful inside, what a lovely place. But the food was lacking. Even more worrying was the lack of care around my friend’s allergies. Staff need some serious training. Server seemed to be quite blasé that the food was fine for the allergies. When it was put down and obviously wasn’t, we queried it. She went off to kitchen and came back to pick the food up as it contained the allergens. Then said the fish was fine to have. I asked if it was gluten-free she said yes but then after another trip to the kitchen said the chef could make it gluten-free. My friend ended up being served her food after we’d eaten. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. It was £12 with two pieces of chicken, so mostly bread roll and the roll was the cheap, mostly air, stuff. Overloaded with a powerful garlic mayonnaise. I was surprised as everyone raves about this place. They need the food to back up the surroundings. But I was mostly shocked by the service. A service charge was added on at the end, which I resent as it was terrible. Holcombe Tap - please give your staff better training on allergies. Could be serious and there seemed to be zero awareness or care for that. Won’t be returning.

Came for the festive fayre menu with family. 12 of us in total and what a fantastic afternoon. The food was so good and all the staff were brilliant. Molly and Lucy really looked after us. All my family, who are from out of town love this local "pub", food, drink and ambiance are exceptional.

Great experience - food was small plates ( we had the roast) and was really tasty. There's no kids menu as such but even with our 2 being dairy intolerant there was no fuss and the staff assured us they'd to their best to accommodate our choices. Lovely environment and great service. No complaints

Great place to eat, good atmosphere and guitarist wasn't bad at all. Food was stunning and served by freindly staff. It's worth a visit if you are in the area.

Very nice inside it's really smart! The interior is very different to the exterior. Small car park outside. It's definitely worth going to eat!

Great food, beer and atmosphere

Excellent meal this afternoon at the Holcomb Tap. Didn’t book but they sorted a table for us and made us very welcome. Menu looked great and the food was superb. We live just over an hours drive away but we’ll make the trip back for a meal here again. Can’t wait to try the Sunday lunch and listen to some live music too. Great job to all the team there and chefs. See you again soon.

We come to Ramsbottom 4 or 5 times a year and always make a point of paying a visit to the Holcombe Tap or its sister establishment the Eagle and Child. We are never disappointed. The food is amazing, the atmosphere extremely welcoming, the service outstanding and superb value for money. The menu changes every few months and we love ordering a selection of small plates to enjoy delicious flavours and unusual ingredient combinations. You can tell there is serious thought and attention to detail that produces an exquisite array of culinary delights. You can probably tell we are huge fans. 😊

The food here is great. Tasty and well presented. The salad was substantial and delicious - not just a bag of salad on a plate! Other dishes were superb. The cauliflower curry being a particular highlight. Nice environment and friendly staff who help you navigate the menu and make suggestions if asked.

Didn't have any food Called in for a drink but this wasn't a tap bar, no real beers at all

Came here for a meal with my wife and daughter after my daughter recommended it. Unfortunately she didn't book a table so when we arrived it was fully booked. It's only a small place so obviously books up quickly. We sat outside which wasn't a problem as it was a warm evening. I ordered 5 dishes for the 3 of us. After about 25 minutes 4 dishes came out. We waited thinking the last dish and chips wouldn't be long, but after a few more minutes my daughter went inside to enquire at which she was told they were juggling orders and it would be out. We started eating and after a few more minutes they arrived. No apology for the delay. The food was good, especially the whipped goats cheese with pistachio, and that was reasonably priced. The other dishes I found really expensive. If you just want to nibble with drinks it's okay. If you want a meal then go elsewhere. I was still hungry when we left and drove to get a burger. No one enquired how the food was and when we left there was no goodbye, thanks for coming or any other pleasantries. Ignored would be a good word to use. In short, expensive, good food, terrible service. Not somewhere I would recommend or go back to.

Honestly such a lovely atmosphere, 10/10 service and all the staff are so friendly! The food was unreal, all full of flavour but all different too, definitely recommend the corn, the prawns and all the fries too. Would 100% visit again and recommend to anyone.

The Sunday roasts are very good. Highly recommended. If you like sticky toffee puddings, this one could be the best one you've ever had. There is a partly covered beer garden as well.

Amazing great quality food, reasonable price, good ambiance and excellent service. Majority of the dishes ordered were with decent portion size with exception to some. Limited parking space but you can park in nearby street.

Relaxing Sunday Afternoon - This was an unplanned visit and what a find! Originally we walked in for a few drinks but quickly changed our minds after looking at the food being served around us. Perfect sized menu with great options and choices for the small plates on offer. Sunday sessions was perfect. Food was excellent and the salt and pepper chips are a must. We were very well looked after and could have easily stayed all afternoon. Will definitely be returning.

Very good food just a bit pricy

Small plates of food were fantastic and the service excellent. The only small quibble was the draught ales I tried were ok. If you are going for food and wine then it is 5 stars.

Food was excellent, just portions were very small. £8.50 for one Portabello Mushroom. Also not happy with the embarrassing optional surcharge on the Bill. Service was also very good, just think very expensive for the amounts you get.

The atmosphere was very warm and friendly, 2 of my family had steak dishes off the menu, which they enjoyed. I had chicken skewers at £9.50 which was one small piece of chicken on 3 separate skewers with dressing. Mac n cheese plus chips, after leaving I felt a bit disappointed about the portions being so small, and lacking in flavour, although they said there's were fine. Might just have been an a one off.

Amazing! Second time we have been and we love it. Highly recommend the steak. Came on a Sunday, great roast and the live music really added to the atmosphere. Celebrating a birthday, staff made us feel very welcome.

Fantastic food, service and area. I highly recommend the Holcombe Tap to anyone wanting a great evening with amazing food. The mac and cheese with truffle is the best I’ve ever had, and don’t forget a brownie for dessert. The staff are very welcoming too.

Booked a table for 6 to celebrate my daughters birthday. It was a Sunday and we all went for the roast beef with yorkshire pudding and picked our own sides consisting of roast potatoes, 2 types of cauliflower cheese (there are 3 to choose from), roasted carrots, extra yorkshires and mixed greens. The beef was perfect, every plate was cleared and we were all totally full with only one person making room for a sweet. The food was fantastic, the choice of beers, ciders, wines and shorts is as good as any pub in the area and the staff are welcoming, friendly and make the whole experience worth every penny.

We wanted a nice relaxed evening to celebrate my daughters birthday. We’re all vegetarian and we were able to have a decent choice of dishes which we really enjoyed. The service was warm & friendly, the food excellent.

Best roast I’ve had for a while!! It was so tasty and a great amount of choice. Would definitely recommend to everyone and our waitress Lucy was very helpful, friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come again!

Date night - meal for 2 - had a lovely evening. Lucy ( the blonde manger) looked after us and she was spot on. Totally on the ball. She’s got a great personality and chatted with us well. Made us feel welcome and we didn’t need to wait for anything. Was a busy Saturday night too. Outstanding device. Highly recommend and what a lovely young lady she was. Definitely will be back soon.

This restaurant/pub is a great location to have catch up with friends and they are very accommodating for people with allergies and dietary requirements as i have celiac disease. my waitress libby was very well mannered and made sure i had everything i needed from the moment i stepped through the door.

You need to come here and then pat yourself on the back for a fabulous decision. Food is exceptional, made with love and care. Atmosphere is geared towards a relaxing customer experience and the service is 100% personal from the guy choosing my wine when i asked what he would recommend🍷 to the desserts and coffees, all has a high end feel but no pretence, the team know how to do hospitality... we will definitely be hurrying back. My partner and I came for a Sunday lunch.we didn't know what, however gave it a chance and it paid off.. we arrived slightly earlier then our booking time and was told we could sit at a bar area where they went and got us some stools.. when our table was ready it was a high table option, which we wasn't happy with and asked if we could have a low table option.. they accommodated. We ordered 2 beef Sunday lunches with added side orders and we couldn't fault what we had.. the food was beautiful.. the meat was so tender and the accompaniments were lovely. The price was very reasonable.. we would definitely eat there again.

Excellent service and food were fantastic

We were there on a Monday night, and not really expecting too much because it was Monday, but the place had a good atmosphere and was certainly nowhere near empty. But the best thing about the evening was definitely the food. Small sharing plates, varied in style, quite original and not the 'norm', and each clearly prepared with care and attention. Very much recommended.
