Great value for money hotel, ideally located, however with a couple of issues. We were not informed, upon checking in, that the following day there would be a Christmas party, rendering the restaurant unusable. In addition to this, the party-goers were loud and obnoxious to other paying guests, even blocking the main entrance, smoking right outside and the smell of the smoke wafted right through the hotel and staff did nothing to combat this. The following day, we were unable to use the pool due to "too much chlorine" which is a ridiculous reason. So we paid for 3 nights and during that stay, two of the hotels amenities were unusable. This wouldn't have been as much of an issue if we were given prior notice about the Christmas party, however we weren't and only found out where the loud music started playing until 1AM, which we could hear from our room. Other issues we had were handled by staff very quickly and professionally however, such as needing replacement towels in the room. There was also an instance of housekeeping coming into the room, when we hadn't requested it via the door handle hanger - which we didn't have as housekeeping had taken it the day prior when we did request them to come in - this was a mild safety concern and general concern for our belongings.

Great location, easily accessible from the M25 and M1 motorways. We stopped here for a night's stay on our way home and do not regret the stopover. There is plenty of parking onsite, though, at a cost of £7 a night. Need to register your vehicle details upon arrival. Staff were very friendly, helpful, and smiles all the way. Such a lovely thing to see, even when they were super busy...and it was busy as I was told the hotel was fully booked. It made our stay even more memorable. We had a standard queen with a sofa bed, which was more than adequate for our one night stay. We arrived at 9pm and there were no queues and we got checked in really quickly. The lady at reception was very helpful, patient, and welcomed us as IHG club members and thanked us for our stay and continued support, which was a nice touch. Our room was located on the LG floor, which we didn't mind, as they have lifts. We took the stairs. It was super convenient as the Health Centre is just down the same corridor on LG. My wife and son went for a swim the following morning around 11 a.m., and getting a booking was easy. I just walked to the Centre and booked a slot. It was around 8 a.m., and the chap at reception was helpful . I didn't mind changing my original booking from 12 pm to 11 am. Hotel Reception also managed to accommodate our request for a late check-out to 1pm, but couldn't extend it further as many visitors requested late check-outs. Wasn't a problem as I asked that same morning as I was surprised to have been accommodated. I suggest asking for a late check-out when checking in if you think you might want/need it during your stay. I was impressed with the whole management of the hotel and how modern, clean, and well maintained it was. Also, as it's festive season, there were nice decorations all around that gave it that Christmas feeling. Breakfast was great, as usual. We frequent Holiday-Inns as members and have been to quite a few, and this hotel ticked a lot of our boxes, including the breakfast. Loved the cucumbers, Greek yoghurt, cheese, fruits, and green tea, which I had after my hot meal. Some hotels don't serve natural Greek yogurt and cucumbers, so I was happy to see it served here. They should add seeds and nuts at the breakfast nook, and then I will be even more impressed. The reason I dropped 1 star was due to some small issues in our room, which is a shame. I don't know the state of the other rooms but ours (No. 23 on LG), though it was clean and tidy, it had a few defects, which I share in some of the pictures. Management, please sort these issues out: 1. The shower head was dripping from the time we checked in, and I had to remove it from its holder and place it in the bath. It was making an annoying dripping sound all night and splashing drops in and around the bath. From the state of the bath taps, etc, seems to be an old problem. 2. The basin didn't have a plug. I'm not sure why, so I couldn't fill the basin at all. 3. The toilet roll holder was wonky and hanging with its screw exposed. Seems to be a simple fix. 4. Damage to the corner of the pressed wood finishing panel stand underneath the TV. These were not huge issues for us as we only stayed one night, but it's worth pointing it out so it can be attended to. On the plus side, the TV unit was huge and had some nice features such as casting and streaming your own content from your device to the TV, which I enjoyed and it was easy to set up. First time I've seen this feature at a Holiday-Inn hotel. Very well done. We had a comfortable sleep, no noises, which was nice, and the mattress and pillows were comfy. Would I recommend this hotel: YES, I would. They almost got 5 stars from us. Maybe next time they will.

Great to have access to an indoor pool, hot tub and sauna, which was quiet with long opening times. Slightly dated changing rooms/facilities, but still a worthwhile bonus to a reasonably priced hotel

Disappointing Stay at Holiday Inn Hemel Hempstead Rating: 1/5 I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Hemel Hempstead as a bundle with Harry Potter Studios, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of my expectations. Lack of Basic Amenities The room was not equipped with basic amenities that one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. There were no bedroom slippers, toothbrush, shower cap, or vanity kit provided. To make matters worse, only two towels were provided for four people. I was told to buy slippers at Tesco. Toothbrush was provided upon request. Unhygienic Conditions The hotel's cleanliness left much to be desired. Dirty cups were scattered around the doorsteps, hair from previous occupants on the table and the bathroom had blue stains and an open drainage system, as well as stains, marks owing to the age of the hotel. Cramped Space and Faulty Facilities The room was extremely cramped, especially after the sofa was converted into a bed. The room phone was faulty, and we were unable to call the receptionist or housekeeping. Despite requesting for someone to fix the telephone, no one showed up. Poor Service Our requests for extra towels and housekeeping services were not fulfilled. It seemed like the hotel staff was not attentive to our needs. Good breakfast One thing really good about this hotel is the breakfast. I would give thumbs up to this. Conclusion Overall, my stay at the Holiday Inn Hemel Hempstead was disappointing. The lack of basic amenities, unhygienic conditions, cramped space, faulty facilities, and poor service made for an uncomfortable stay. I hope the hotel will address these issues to improve the guest experience.

I live locally near this Holiday Inn and recently stayed to give myself a break from my upstairs nightmare Neighbour from hell! A wonderful receptionist helped me to get a quiet room with a walk in shower, a suffered 2 acute strokes last year (2023) so a walk-in shower was a must. I think I was in Room 218 or 118. The room was spacious with a large floor to ceiling window at the back which was great for natural light, the room was also spotlessly clean as was the ensuite bathroom. The bed was also one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on in any hotel, I've been lucky enough to stay in a wide range of 4&5 star hotels and this bed was up there a one if the best! Having an empty mini bar also came in very useful, the large TV had plenty of steaming services and was easy to navigate. All the staff I came into contact with were very polite, professional and friendly. I would like to have taken advantage of the Spirit health spa pool, just seeing it brought back memories of when my mum was a member when I was 7/8, we would go in the morning before school and work, she would work out on the gym and as she could see me I was allowed to use the pool. Just as a side Spirit was also where I had ears pierced when I was 8 years old 36 years later and I've never had a problem with the holes and very glossy my mum took me there to get them done. For anyone staying from out of area or from abroad it also makes a great base to visit lots of attractions with good public service links into London and a good breeze for most South UK Airports including Luton (only 30 mins away), Heathrow and Stansted. For days out you can catch a coach just over the road into London or you can catch a bus from Leverstock Green or from Maryland Avenue to either At Alban's City Train Station or Watford Junction Train station. The day train from St Alban's takes you straight to St Pancras International where you can pick up Eurostar and Kings Cross in 20ish minutes which has the best tube links to all the big attractions; Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Embankment, Westminster ect... Watford Junction takes you to Euston Station which also had pretty good links into the heart of London. I would recommend using the Holiday Inn at your main base to come beck to buy would also recommend staying in London for a night or two. There are some great boutique hotels in Soho or for your looking for luxury on a tight budget I can't recommend Flemmings on Half Moon Street just over the road from Gran Park Tube Station, and just off of Piccadilly. It's a success throw away from the Ritz, 20 minute walk from Buckingham Palace, China Town, Covent Garden, Bond Street and Reagents Street and a 30/40 minuet walk to Oxford Street. A stones throw away from most of the West Ends biggest Theaters and plenty of restaurants for all budgets dotted around. I highly Recommend Breakfast or Lunch/ Brunch at Valerie's located on Piccadilly. A short walk to Horse Guards Parade. Also worth using the Burlington Arcade as a cut through to Bond Street and eventually Oxford Street if you fancy a bit of shopping. The Bond Street Arcade located at the other end of the Burlington Arcade is known for it's British Chocolates Prestat since Charbonnel et Walker (their truffles are divine as are their Pico your own chocolates, my favourites are without a doubt the Rose and Violet Creams or the Rum, Gin or Champagne Truffles! And if you're still looking for things to do while staying at the Holiday Inn Warmer Bros Studios Harry Potter Experience is less than a teen ministry drive away in Leavesdon, Watford. Plus there is a local bus that doesn't drop you off right outside but close enough to catch another bus or if your to to a 30/40 minute walk. There is also the Hemel Ski Center an indoor real snow ski slope with a great bar that does light bite and more substantial meals, good also not far away from Leisure World which had a large cinema including IMAX &IMAX 3D suite the complex also had an ice rink where you can rent skates and lots of eateries including Five Guys, Nandos.

SPIRIT HEALTH CLUB Absolutely Terrible! A member of staff HAYDN SEARS conducted criminal damage on my personal belongings and has been allowed to continue being employed after a long period of bullying. The higher staff CHRISTIAN TATE AND TONY OWEN did nothing for this matter even after being emailed and followed up by myself multiple times. It’s been one month since the incident and still no action or disciplinary has been taken against me. Nor have I been reimbursed for this CRIMINAL DAMAGE. As a result I have left which has been seen as A CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL. Please be wary of your belongings as the staff are not trustworthy and can get away with anything.

Stayed recently for our son's 10th birthday trip to Harry Potter world. Staff were fantastic with a special shout out to Dana, Ellie, Gavin, Marie and Melaine for their engagement and kindness towards us all. Thoroughly enjoyed the food on offered and the little touch of a small cake and candle for our son was great and made his day. Look forward to staying here again.

The hotel itself has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were warm and welcoming. The food is great, Loved the breakfast buffet and the oh so amazing Loaded Nachos. Bang on!Please keep in mind if you do order by room service, you need to pay extra 5 pounds. One aspect which most of the non UK visitors can struggle would be to strike the right balance in understanding the shower use technique, which is quite different to what we are used to in EU.

I have been staying here for business reasons. Lewis in the bar and restaurant has been outstanding. He looks after me a my colleagues and goes the extra mile to make us all feel welcome. Dana was also outstanding. She looked after our business needs and looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff but these two deserve a mention. Thank you. I look forward to seeing you both again next week.

I'll be honest, I've avoided Holiday Inns after a bad experience years ago, however my husband was able to get a free room using his club membership points gained through work stays and I've changed my mind. We stayed at Hemel Hempstead for 1 night. The building and decor is modern, light and welcoming. The service from all employees was fantastic. The room was clean and big. We chose the option of a super king which was a luxury not many other places offer. We ended up eating in the restaurant for our evening meals and breakfast and it was great. A little pricey but you pay for convenience so we weren't put off. We didn't use the facilities like healthy centre but we had the option too. We have an electric car so used the charging point (BP pulse) There's only two spaces for ecar charging and the spaces were a little tight but no other comments about our stay. Thank you for changing my mind on Holiday Inns. We'll be coming back.

If I could give zero for the food I would: we went on the evening of 22nd December. Only us there. We got our drinks and then waited for our starters. They came out cold. Called the waitress over who apologized and asked if we wanted them heated or freshly cooked. I said freshly cooked. Was told would be about 10 minutes. 15 minutes later they came and again there were cold. I told the waitress who was lovely. She was so embarrassed. I told her we were leaving. I went to speak to the chef and he could not give a damn and argued with me. Steer clear of this place if you want hot food and a chef that cares.

The ambience was amazing as the staff were very attentive. The waiter serving our table made sure that we did not miss anything, as she explained all about the menu and choices available. It my nephew's birthday celebrations dinner. The staff made it remarkable when they brought out the cake after we had our dinner. They came out one carrying the cake other singing the happy birthday song, and with drum beats and shakers. It really made it a momentous occasion 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Really impressive.

Everything were good the food is delicious and I loved it , I recommend you to get some beef and chips box with Sauce’s and that , but it costs a bit more the price it’s not worth it
