Fantastic staff and service, a real hidden gem, with great priced food and drinks, dropped one star as the ran out of Pizzas, but the burgers were lovely, maybe a smaller bun with the beef burger, as it looked a little lost in the large brioche bun, other than that, fantastic, went for a second visit for a Pizza, a real let down, just tasted no better than a supermarket bought pizza, such a shame.

Part of the New Central Cinema in the town, the Hollywood Pizza restaurant is a bright light amongst of host of other fairly non-descript eateries in the town. I visited with a group of work colleagues and was very impressed not only with the warm welcome but also the food on offer. There's a risk that the decision to give each dish a movie-related name could detract from what is by any measure a well-cooked and -presented menu. My pizza in particular - the Italian Job - was absolutely delicious. If you're in the town, the Hollywood Pizza is more than worth a visit.

We ordered the special deal pizza with the free cinema ticket. We arranged for the pizza pick up to be at 7.30, five minutes after the end of our film time. The pizza wasn't ready, nor did the servers seem to have any idea about our order. They asked us to wait. While waiting one man went to ask for a refund as he had been waiting 40 minutes, he said it was the second time it had happened to him. After twenty minutes I enquired how our pizza was coming along, the apologetic server seemed to know nothing about us and disappeared off to find out. The pizzas were finally ready about half an hour after our arranged collection time. I have to say they were really good pizzas, lovely topping, but there seems to be some organisational or management issue.

We didn't go in (as it was closed at the time we were in Torquay) but the menu looked very nice and seemed pretty reasonable.

Loved this new place to enjoy amazing pizzas in Torquay! The decoration is cool and modern. Pizzas are made with ingredients of very good quality and there are plenty of options for vegetarians. They have a great deal now: with your pizza you get a free cinema ticket for the same day! You can also get discounts if you own the Merlin Cinemas card.

It was son’s birthday and he wanted to have Meat59. Ordered dinner for 4 people. £10.95 Kiev loaded fries. This is supposed to be Fries With Crispy Chicken, Garlic Butter, Parmesan & Truffle Aioli. The reality was a flattened piece of crumbed chicken that was not crispy, sliced and placed on top of half a box of unremarkable frozen fries. No truffle aoli and not a shred of Parmesan in sight. The chicken was incredibly dry. Couldn’t and didn’t want to eat this, it went in the bin. Next we have for £18.95 The Smokin Cow, this is described as Meat59 patty, Bourbon glaze, Swiss Cheese, Lettuce, Crispy Onions & Smokey Mayo. Served with your choice of fries. We’d opted for the 6oz patty. The patty was very dry and had fallen in pieces, it was inedible. There may have been some cheese but the amount was so minuscule it could not be seen. On top of that it was curiously stone cold. Makes me wonder if it was pre cooked and was supposed to have been heated in a microwave?Anyway it was offered to the dog, who like most dogs is usually a walking waste disposal unit, he sniffed it and backed away, so that wound up in the bin.The fries came in a small box (same unremarkable pre frozen ones) and were Meat59’s rosemary fries which lacked any hint of rosemary (as did the 2 other portions. The Gc, £18.95 which is described as Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Breast, Garlic Butter, Parmesan, Garlic Mayo, Crispy Onions, was a flattened piece of and depressing affair which resembled nothing of the picture on the website, I mean I’m not unreasonable because you do sort of expect that, but this was taking it a bit too far because it really looked absolutely nothing like advertised. Again, dry chicken and a distinct lack of anything else. Lastly at £15.50 The Raging Bull, this is described as Meat 59 Patty, Jalapeno Cream Cheese, Rocket, Chipotle Mayo, Swiss Cheese & Candied Jalapenos. Now this was actually alright (we opted for the smaller 4oz patty) and the taste was good. I really wanted to like Meat59, I’ve driven past it plenty of times and I was very much looking forward to it. Ordinarily we’d have come to the restaurant but my son insisted on a takeaway. Perhaps the in restaurant dining is superior, I don’t know and I guess I’ll never find out now. I cannot recommend this place.
