Awful food delivered to me. A couple of weeks ago was my idea of perfection. But last nights was bland as! Not worth the risk. Customer lost, will not be ordering again.

Ordered their food online as I've heard the name of the chain before. Safe to say I won't ever be ordering again. Butter chicken was bland and chicken was like rubber which coincides with alot of the other reviews I have just read. Most definitely was not worth £47

Food poisoning twice in a row. Thought, it was me the first time, but again last night received undercooked rice and chicken was like rubber. Been ill all day. They used to be great, and have been ordering from them since 2012... Last night was the last time.

We ordered many time on Deliveroo from them. I don’t know if you have changed management but the quality of food was absolutely shocking. The Gatlic bread were rock hard and burnt, the mild curry tasted like hot while the chicken was super chewie.

The food was so delicious and the lady name Saleena she suggested me so clearly about the food because it was my first time and other staff also were also very friendly. Thank you holy cow

Just ordered through deliveroo, first time ordering, thankfully I didn't read the reviews first. Delivered in 40 minutes food was delicious and loved the complimentary papadoms and chutney.

Was eager to try this place out. Sadly, our order took over 2hrs to arrive… obviously by this time, we’d had to cook our own food. I think they over-accepted orders / put out a 50% deal without the capacity to cater for the uptick in demand. Seems like an otherwise good restaurant shooting themselves in the foot with poor service / mismanagement. No refund offered.

Ordered an Uber Eats takeaway tonight and I was very unimpressed with the restaurant. I tried to order a couple of weeks ago and having wait 2 hours the restaurant cancelled my order so I thought I’d give it another pop. We ordered tonight and once the food arrived half the order was missing. When we tried to contact the restaurant the woman on the phone was incredibly rude and unhelpful. She kept we stating we were wrong and repeating “oh my god” when trying to explain why the order was wrong. She then hung up the phone without addressing the issue. Safe to say we won’t be going back!

The food is amazing, just be aware that they accept Amex online, all of their on-counter signage suggests they accept Amex, but they don’t. They’ll immediately ask you for an alternative form of payment. Not a problem, just a bit misleading.

Ordered at Holy Cow through Uber Eats and upon arrival the curry had leaked all over the inside if the drivers moped storage container. He tried to explained it was “incorrectly packaged” by the restaurant and another order would be sent. I called the restaurant to clarify and after a couple of short phone calls they said it “wasnt their fault” and wouldnt be sending a replacement before HANGING UP on me. I was very patient and polite and feel like this was totally unreasonable on their part. Shame because the food is decent but their attitude to the situation was totally unacceptable. Never ordering from them again. *EDIT* I appreciate the reply however like I mentioned the customer service here was so poor that I don’t have interest in ordering at Holy Cow again.

Food is great, the one time they actually delivered it. Ordered TWO HOURS ago via Deliveroo, rang up after an hour, they said ‘food is ready we’re just waiting for driver to pick it up’. After half an hour, I rang them again and kept either ringing out or they cancelled my calls as cut off suddenly. How can you just *not* deliver the food someone has paid for then ignore them? Shocking service, shocking delivery - don’t bother, there’s plenty other places to go.

This was a delivery. 15 minutes later than ordered, but that's fine. REALLY REALLY disappointed, having been recommended by a couple of friends. Everything was luke warm. Chicken dish tasted like a home-made curry sauce (with curry powder). Prawns were just nothing - not a lot of flavour, and I struggle to describe how average they were. Peshwari Naan - fairly tasteless with no sweet tasting filling. I love my food and usually have to scrape my plate. I did not finish this boring and fairly tasteless meal. NEVER AGAIN!

Don’t phone if you want to order/ or ask for help with your order as it is a lottery. One lady just hangs up on you with ‘I’m too busy’ after making up answers. Another lady was extremely professional and understood customer service and was very apologetic when rang back. It is a real pity as this place had been recommended, and then had recommended it to wider friends and family who live in the area but now no one will go because of the rude and unprofessional engagement of the first lady. Oh and the food never turned up!

Very good food, very nice people. We will definitely come back if we ever travel to this area again :) Sidenote for small eaters, the portion size is very generous.

I was staying nearby and the aromas sucked me in to this brilliant Indian takeaway. Whilst looking at the menu, the owner asked if I needed any help, so I decided to let him suggest something for me - he then began to cook the dish himself (a delicious, spicy lamb dish with courgettes). I was also given pappadums and chutney whilst I waited. The food was delicious - it was a curry I hadn't had before and I loved every mouthful. I love to use independent restaurants and takeaways, and when the service is this friendly and welcoming, all the better. It's also great to see quality fresh ingredients and proper cooking. Absolutely faultless experience. Sadly I live nowhere near and was only in London for the cricket - but if I do ever find myself in Battersea again, I'll be visiting Holy Cow!

The food is delicious and the spices used are very authentic. The only disappointment was the chicken Murg Masala was rather sickly as there was too much sauce to chicken ratio

This place is EPIC! We had a large variety of dishes and every single one was top notch. If you're feeling adventurous, try the lime pickle, really interesting flavor that goes great with papadam. What else can I say but, HOLY COW!

Best paneer curry I have had… great mix of vegetable curry and paneer in a dish and the flavour was spot on! The garlic naan was full of garlic and very fresh. The mango chutney was the fresh and tasted homemade. Incredible takeaway, will definitely be returning!

Ordered a Chicken biryani via UberEats; tasteless (not what wa shown on the picture!), accompanied with an 'souplike' veg curry dish whuch was equally disappointing !

Incredibly disappointing. We have eaten with Holy Cow many times and the quality is usually fantastic. This meal was totally tasteless, the customer services was horrendous. I will never eat here again. The Balham branch may be better but AVOID this restaurant unless you want your food to taste of water.

FIX YOUR PAYMENT PROCESS ONLINE. I have been ordering at Holy cow for over 10 years and I won’t be doing it anymore as the payment process got SO LABORIOUS. I told you many many times over the phone as I’m the past months it’s usually the only way that I could get my order through, but it’s still not working. It completely ruined my evening as I spent over ONE HOUR trying to order tonight. The lady I spoke with on the phone did not speak English and I had to give up ordering, after an hour of my life lost on this aborted order. Deliveries were already often very late, but this is simply not acceptable: fix your online payment device and put someone who speaks English on the phone.

I leave nearby the restaurant, but because I have been working from home I decided to order some delivery from one of my favourite types of cuisine: Indian, I am vegetarian by the way. The takeaway delivery reached me fast, even if the bags with the food containers were all smashed up, unfortunately, the food was very cold and I had to reheat it from scratch. The portions were tiny, really tiny (I took some photos otherwise you want believe me!). For vegetarian food, I found the price vs quantity very steep indeed. The quality and the taste of the food were another stories. Indian food is not only about taste but also about colour, smell etc. Just looked at it I losted my appetite. The basmati rice was overcooked and glued all together and if you have eaten Indian food you know what I am talking about: fluffy, light and fragrant rice. The potatoes were tasteless and the fake chicken was so hard and rubbery that I struggled to try it. Basically, not one single dish was at least average. Even the bread was a disaster. All the food I ordered instead of my stomach went in the trash bin, what a waste! I honestly I do not understand how this restaurant can continue doing business serving such pathetic parody of Indian food. I have warned you and if you dare to try it is at your risk. Good luck! You will need it.

Cheaper to order via restaurant than on deliveroo

I'm a long time HC fan. Ordered for the first time from their Battersea location and the food arrived promptly; hot and fresh. That said the dish was not even remotely spicy even though it was marked 'HOT'. Please don't forget them chillies guys

An absolute go-to for us and all our neighbours on our street in Battersea...we did a BYO curry night recently and at least 50% of the dishes were brought from Holy Cow because they are legit the best. Always fast, always delish. Thank you HC, you make our 'hood better x

Ordered vegan delivery and loved it. Mint sauce and coconut coconut was a winning combo for our vegan chicken biryani.

I tried this once. The portion was really small (at first I thought they did a mistake) but I have to say that it was tasty eventually.

This is the first time i have ordered from here and is the worst curry i have ordered in my life. Food is totally bland not sure if any spices used at all... Supermarket currys taste nicer, i have not even finished it before writing a review says enough. (To be fair think it will be left) Disappointed is an understatement £40 wasted.

Our go to for an amazing Indian takeaway. Beautiful food but not too heavy.

HC is our go-to takeaway. If you like average Indian food that arrives cold, insecurely sealed, poorly spiced and swimming in ghee, avoid Holy Cow. If you like the opposite, this is your answer. We are serial users when we have that need for great Indian spices. Not once has the quality dipped. Five stars all day or night long!

My husband and I had truly tasty butter chicken and Chana masala last night. All the staff was super friendly while we waited and watched them cook in the authentic open kitchen. Loved the Cobra Indian beer also!

Consistently great food. Nice range of dishes, had the cod with tomates and tamarind recently which was yum. My teens love their biriyanis and mango lassis. We order from them direct and get brilliant service everytime, so friendly. I also like that a lot of their packaging is cardboard and paper, they use plastic trays for food and paper bags and box carriers.

Such good food and lovely service, highly recommend.

An excellent Indian takeaway. I haven’t used Holly Cow in years and had forgotten about it until staying in the area recently. All dishes were well put together.

I used the take away service tonight and although the delivery was as expected the food was appalling I asked for traditional Indian chicken curry spices and an aubergine dish plus a vegetable biryani .... the dishes . I got chicken with tin tomatoes spiced and a dried up aubergine dish what made it worse was the biriyani was predominantly aubergine . I cannot complain about there service but there food is disgusting with no imagination or taste for quality . Did the chef have a night off ? Because I hate tin tomatoes and this cost e £32 which I tried to send back and they refused . I would say from my 2 experiences using firstly there Balham outlet and now there Putney one to . I WILL NEVER USE THIS FRAUDULENT FOOD OUTLET AGAIN THE FOOD WAS COMPLETELY UNPALATABLE FOR A PERSON THAT KNOWS AS WELL AS COOKS INDISN FOOD . Tin tomatoes as the sauce your having a laugh and I’m going to complain to whoever it takes to expose you .

Great fresh food and very fast service.

This place is incredible. Firstly, the food is genuinely delicious. The best Indian food we have found in South West London. Secondly, if you can get a chance to pick up and not get a delivery then you will see a master kitchen at work. The food goes straight from piping hot pan to brilliantly designed and practical containers. Whenever delivered the food has always been so fast and so hot. You will not be disappointed.

Having always enjoyed our food from Holy Cow , we were very disapointed with our last delivery and customer service . We waited nearly 1hour 40 mins for it to arrive , my chicken biryani arrived with no chicken but very tough lamb , sadly had to waste it and throw away . I did send an email complaining as did not want to put it in public domain and they did not reply . Poor customer service ! When we were waiting for very late delivery , we tried to telephone them but they did not answer to give any explanation !

Stuck for something for supper on my first visit to our flat in Battersea since lockdown. Called The Holy Cow on Battersea Bridge Road. Ordered the curry promised 45 minute delivery. The curry arrived in 30 minutes and it was not good it was sensational!!! Holy Cow you now have another customer!! Thank you

I ordered last night through Deliveroo but I wasn't able to leave a review through the app (not surprised). This is the second order we made - the first was average at best and our order last night was completely inedible, it was far too overseasoned and was like eating a mouthful of salt with every bite. I usually like added salt but this was way too much even for me. My partner's meal was the same, both dishes had handfuls of salt added. Considering the price we paid including the insane 30% that Deliveroo added to each dish we are extremely disappointed and will not be ordering from Holy Cow again.

As name would suggest, no beef on this menu!! Just solid Indian take-out in Battersea area. Recommend the lamb bhanu and murgh Malayaman.

I'm usually sceptical of Indian takeaway. Generally it's not authentic, neither is it fusion, just the tired formula from times gone by. Holy cow however was really very good. I'm not saying it tasted like my mum's cooking at home, it was different but in a good way. I ordered lamb Kebab, and it was cooked so well! It was pink in the middle, very soft and full flavoured. Their version of chicken (murg) tikka masala was just so yum. Decadent with slight tang. I rang in to ask if I could swap my mixed veg side with okra. They misunderstood and gave me mixed veg but also made the effort of cooking up my Biryani with okra! Its the thought that counts, and it was really kind of them to humour what must have seemed like an odd request. I didn't mind the end result, I love okras, I might actually ask for it next time haha. If I had to provide constructive criticism, itd be that my biryani could have been less greasy. But I must make clear - it was not as greasy as other takeaways. Thanks for a lovely meal holy cow. Keep doing what you're doing.

Excellent food. Friendly staff (over the phone). And food was delivered on time! We used to order from them quite regularly, so we were sad to find out that they no longer deliver to our area. However, despite it being Friday evening, the friendly lady on the phone did take our reservation. The Paneer Nawabi, Pudina Paneer and Muttar Paneer were great. The cod in the Machli Malekhu was succulent and fresh. The lamb byriani was well-seasoned and delicious. The Parbate Daal had seemingly equal proportions of lentils and garlic, and was all the better for it. The Chana Masala and Peshari naan did not disappoint. Perhaps the only thing that was disappointing was the modi squid

Ordered on Deliveroo twice now, so food came in great time. Honestly the best curry I’ve had so far. The dishes are so well flavoured and it always seems like good meat used. My new regular!

Terrible customer service, rude aggressive staff. Requested delivery time before ordering and was asked how much food I was ordering (£68) before being told 45 mins so said I would collect and was advised 25 mins. As I was walking to collect my food received within the agreed time frame I received a call aggressively asking me "where are you". When I arrived it was quiet, there were no food orders on the shelf, no one else in the shop and a delivery bike outside. She said she was calling me to arrange to deliver my food. It was clear that they were not busy when I ordered and her tone was aggressive and unapologetic. The food is good but they don't deserve to survive unless they learn to treat their customers with respect. Wake up or go under!!

The food from Holy Cow had been recommended to me and I was not disappointed, it is superior to most other Indian takeaway food that I have eaten. I ordered via the Deliveroo app; the food arrived hot, well packaged and bang on time. It seems from other reviews posted here (albeit mostly from before the restaurant moved to its current location in May 18) that several people have not been impressed by the customer service. To them I would say give Holy Cow another try, but order via the Deliveroo app, which gives both the customer and restaurant a written copy of the order and real-time updates on order progress. Furthermore, Deliveroo will apply a credit for any missing items. By the way, other than being a satisfied customer, I have no connection with the restaurant or delivery service.

Food arrived 40 minutes early from my pre-order time, was told to phone the store who then said the driver would return to pick up the food. No one showed up. Phoned the store again and they said the order would be sent out once more. Nothing showed up. Appalling customer service, will not be ordering again.

In line with a few of some other reviewers, I can't fault the food but really can fault the service. Way over an hour after ordering I called to see what the problem was. Was passed between three people within a couple of minute. Food arrived (cold) about 20 minutes later. No one seemed bothered on the phone. I shouldn't have to microwave a meal before I eat it. Shame - probably won't be ordering from them again

Awful customer service. We were treated like liars after they didnt deliver some of our food and had to wait over 2 hours for rice (which we never got by the way). Shameful and do not deserve your business.

I've been a Holy Cow customer for many years but recently they have developed a really bad attitude problem. Our takeaway on Friday night not only took over an hour and a half to get to us from point of order but it was actually with the delivery driver for half an hour before getting to us which meant it was cold when delivered. Not only this but items of our order were missing!!!! I called to complain and was treated appallingly. The woman on the phone said she would send the driver back to pick up our food and then give me a refund. WHAT?! I'd already waited an hour and a half for my dinner. I was starving. There was no apology - NOTHING. I'm not surprised Deliveroo is taking over delivery services and places in Brixton Market are thriving. Holy Cow you seriously need to buck up your ideas and treat your loyal customers better. I won't ever be ordering from you again.

Good food, not so good service. Waited 45 min to get the food (collection at the counter), part of the order missing from the bag when got home, called to let them know, polite offer to have delivered but that's it. No delivery ... better check your order :(. When businesses become popular, some things go wrong. Hoping to see the delivery man today. 😑

Food itself was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. The problem was that it took almost two and a half hours for it to arrive, it was cold when it got here and they got parts of the order wrong. They didn't seem to care much when we called them either. All in all, not a great experience and we probably won't order from there again.

Excellent takeaway place. Most of the times I've been here the place was rather full. That means the food is always fresh and on top of that, you can see the kitchen. It's always clean and organized inside. Great spot for some Indian, recommended.

Really good quality deliver and take away, at peak time can be slow but this is because it is popular. You can avoid any inconvenience by just planning ahead. Most I've ever waited was 1 hour
