Hong Kong Fish & Chips in St. Helens

Usually the salt 'n' pepper chicken are really nice pieces of succulent chicken cooked in breadcrumb and very tasty. What we were served tonight was shocking to say the least,skinny pieces of breadcrumb because there wasn't much chicken in there and we even got some pieces with no chicken at all,really disappointed, in fact if that is their salt n pepper chicken from now on then we need to find another Chinese ASAP because we won't be going back.

Great food best in the area. Food is tasty and hot and always nicely packaged. Good menu choices. Staff friendly and efficient.

Been here many times over the years and always had the self service buffet which was excellent and very good quality and value for money. Since covid 19 the food, quality, portions have all gone down rapidly, The young girl behind the counter told us that they won't be returning to the buffet service as they are making alot more money now than before which is very sad and unfortunate as they have let their standards and quality of food down just for the money. Portions have shrunk rapidly and food served in smaller tubs so as to not raise suspicion. Sad to say another brilliant Chinese takeaway gone down the pan cause of greed.

Food is lovely, portions are good (small or large options for most) and prices are reasonable - worth a visit! Also, inside the takeout there is a display with what most of the dishes actually look like, helpful if you’re trying something new!

We have been here many times but recently we have found the food to be very poor quality and the portions are very small., hardly any meat or chicken in the meal. Don't bother wasting your time and money.

Our normal Chinese was closed so called here the sweet n sour pork was so bad i could not eat it and went in the bin, We used to come here and it was never like this and we wont be back again

the Hong Kong is one of the best Chinese take away's i have ever been too 10/10 recommend especially salt and pepper chicken and salt and pepper chips are excellent. fortune cookie told me i'm gonna be rich and i'm gonna be honest i'm swimming in it. i mean i would be swimming in it if i hadn't spent all my money on the chicken and chips . the only thing i would improve is the sales of iron bru they do not sell it and im quite upset about that. love u forever and always .

This takeaway is a part of China in St Helens. The service is typically Chinese and the food is typically Chinglish. There is no razzmatazz..there are no signs saying what everything is...where is the fun in that haha. All I can say is that everything is good street food/takeaway standard. We come here when we don't know what we want (and on a cheat day...don't kid yourself...it's calorific but a great cheat day) fill a tray each with main meals (about 10 to choose from) from chilli beef, sweet and sour crispy chicken(or possibly pork...never too sure) and curried chicken to something so fluorescent red and amazing I can only guess what it is. The omelette is amazing too by the way...I prefer that to putting rice in the pot. Then we fill a pot with the sundries (about 12 to choose from) (prawn toast is really good, sticky wings, crispy chicken bites and the duck pancakes are great too)It's £4.30 a full tray (£2 extra for crispy seaweed, which is just great) which is still good value...we rarely finish but always great for breakfast the next day haha.So in conclusion...if you are a fussy eater or a vegetarian or vegan...or have allergic reactions to foodstuffs then this place probably isn't for you....but, if you are like 98% of the population who can eat and enjoy almost everything then this place won't disappoint. I still don't know what half the stuff is...but that is part of the enjoyment.

Terrible food these days. I will not be wasting hard earned cash there again. We have visited here for years but the last few times the food has been atrocious. My 22 year old son is autistic and this was one of the few places he would eat from.... no longer

Visited Hong Kong for the buffet tray as I seen it was advertised on Facebook, first of all they charged me more then what was advertised online. Called up to make sure it was still available and was told there was over 20 dishes to choice from, then on arrival id say there was no more then 12.Food was extremely dry and tasteless, nothing to say what the dishes were or allergens which is a massive thing for me as I am allergic to a number of ingredients.Unfortunately I won't be returning and would advise anyone to think twice before visiting here.
