Went to the sister restaurant Rai and had a lovely dinner there hence keen to try Hot Stone. Ordered a mixed grill of seafood and waygu steaks. The service was friendly although spotty at times. We were keen on trying the stone grill. Whilst the concept was good - grilling your own food on the stone, the execution was not. Oil and smoke from the waygu splattered all over the place and got on your hair, clothing, bag, tables and chair - that explained why the chair felt grubby. It could not go anywhere so it just choked me and my dining partner. When we finally finished our meal and thought we had a reprieve, the table next to us got theirs and the whole mess started again. The waygu flavour and all was fine, but after our first round, i felt covered in specs of oil. I would not go back again because I want to have a meal where you should be able to savour waygu flavours and the subtle sushi dishes, not eat quickly to get everything off the grill and stop the smoke and oil. Good idea but bad execution unfortunately.

The food was delicious if a bit small for the price. The tuna was exquisite as was the beef. The service was, however, inattentive and slow.

Came as a couple, completely ignored as we didn’t take time out to photo the food and post on instagram. And we had to pay while others get feed (and treated way better) for free Moral of the story take a camera (pretend you enjoy) get everything for free

I bought a five course voucher and booked a table at Kibako for my wife’s birthday. I did this online some time ago. We turned up at the restaurant on Windmill Street, where we have been several times before, only to find that the restaurant had changed its name to Hot Stone and had no record of our booking. The maitre’d was unhelpful, rude, impatient and dismissive. He was clearly stressed and not very hospitable. We googled Kibako and identified that it had moved to Portland St. We headed there, late for our booking. The staff and the food at Kibako was excellent. However, we were rushed through our service - courses arriving before we had finished our previous - because the restaurant was closing for the afternoon. I accept that I had not thought to check if the restaurant had moved address. Who would? But I had not received any communication to this effect. And surely this is something the staff at Hot Stone should be aware of.

This restaurant was extremely expensive for a whole in the wall with no atmosphere. Save your money and go somewhere that has alittle more wow.

Bought some vouchers for a friend for hot stone for their Birthday... Unfortunately they were misplaced and then recently expired. Instead of replacing them with new ones (even as a gesture of goodwill), Hot Stone insisted on digging their heels in over the small print. My friend tells me he would have spent double the face on drinks etc. but instead Hot Stone have now lost double - neither of us or our colleagues will ever bring our business to them in the future. Clearly only interested in the £s and not actually retaining customer satisfaction.

Delicious food and always cooked to perfection! The seafood was so fresh, the grilled fish and sashimi melted in our mouth 🤤

Hotstone has become my absolute favorite restaurant. I'd been raving about it to my friends for so long, and finally, I had the chance to take my son there for his birthday dinner. The experience was everything I'd hoped for and more. The food was gorgeous, just as I remembered. My son was thrilled, and it turned out to be the perfect birthday celebration! The staff at Hot Stone is fantastic – incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive. The service truly was impeccable. They even have a halal menu option, which is a huge plus for my family and a rare find for a restaurant this good. If you're looking for a delicious Japanese meal and exceptional service, Hot stone is a must-try! The chef's skills are legendary, and the overall experience makes it a perfect place for a special occasion.

I should say the quality of the food deteriorated and waiters are explaining the dishes so quickly you don't understand anything, used to be a much more enjoyable experience

Having previously lived in Japan, my standard for sushi is high. This small shop delivers, serving as a nice 'home away from home' in London. Excellent dishes and amazing service. Always a bit busy but 100% worth it. I highly recommend the dishes with fatty tuna.
