Idle Hands in Brighton and Hove

We came in for a quick pint before the train home and ended up staying till close! We absolutely loved the barmaids Holly, she made us feel like 5* guests and couldn't do enough for us. If you're looking for a quick pint or a lengthy visit with some food this location is ideal! Tip your barmaid, she deserves it! Will definitely be returning x

Popped in for evening drinks and once in decided to order the pie and chips. Lovely pub. Friendly and helpful bar staff. Pies were lovely and filled a much needed gap 👍

I went here to find out that during lockdown they told all there staff this being the manager that they had been put on furlough only to find out two months later they've all been sacked and not paid any outstanding wages which is pretty sick in a situation like this they have no remorse as this was posted In the argus and no offer of compensation was offered not even for the wages outstanding they just want to make a quick buck of all you hard workers out there don't be fooled there is plenty of nice bars around with much better customer service.

The staff are really friendly and the internal decor is warm and inviting. The house band, The Jones Street Boys are the real draw though with outstanding musicianship and fun vibe. They play great music and attract a lot of the local old school R and B and swing jazz dancers. This place gets full in the summer months and is always lively when the band plays.

It was my second night in Brington, I was walking down the street and listened to a live song and decided to come in and have a beer. Dwayne, your a Star. thank you.

La comida estaba llena de sabor y en realidad picante (Mac Mac vegetariano) ideal para el frío de noviembre. Principalmente bebí 'robo de identidad'. ¡Soy un gran admirador de este borrador! Awesome little pub. On way to Brighton Centre myself and my boyfriend called in for a few drinks. We felt welcome instantly, the Manager Holly was lovely taking time out to welcome us and tell us about the pub. Though we didnt eat there they had a great menu. They serve maily craft beers/ales. Alternative brand spirits to the 'norm'. Live music most nights trying new bands/sounds. Decor was intriguing and I personally loved it. If in Brighton pop in and say hi to Holly and Jack. Great atmosphere looking forward to visiting again. Kerry and Michael xxx

Went to this bar as it was across the road from our hotel. We had a few drinks as we listened to the amazing music that was in the background. The bar staff were so friendly and helpful, it all felt so welcoming. We wish we had somewhere like this closer to home!

A place to chill, drink and take in the laid back, unhurried atmosphere. Bar staff are lovely and easy to chat to. I didn’t want to leave but my train back to reality beckoned.

Came here after seeing insane looking pictures of their hotdogs but when we were served our food, we were given the very basic, slightly cold and a bit hard lunch. The chips were from a bag and oven baked, the bun was hard and the hotdog was cold. We left pretty disappointed..

The staff is amazing, the music is great and the food is delicious. Hands down my favorite place to be in Brighton during the evening

I happened on the Idle Hands by accident, but I'm really glad I did. It's a smashing little pub with an atmosphere that's cosy and welcoming, but in a non-twee Brighton way. Great choice of beers, and as I'm a whisky fan, a really good selection of those too. Food is basic, mac n cheese, hot dogs, wings etc, but of a really high standard - the hot dog's in particular are amazing! I live about 15 mins walk away and the main drag from the station wouldn't be my normal choice, but I now go to the Idle Hands several times a week as they also have some great, and varied live music nights. it's true good things do come in small packages!

What a great little spot this is and only a stone's throw away from the station! I missed my train on Saturday and decided to have a pint and wait for another, needless to say one pint became a few. Great craft beer selection, great atmosphere with the most welcoming staff, for someone on their own they made me feel like a regular, upbeat live music all evening (Jess told me that this happens every week) will definitely be down again to see these guys!

Idle hands has come a really long way since it opened in 2018. Its a quite qwerky little place with its retro decor and ever changing range of delicious craft beers. With the addition of having the lads of Dirty Mac in their kitchen pumping out a solid range of food with recently added vegan and vegetarian options, regular live music and ever friendly staff, I'd say it's worth getting down there!

We came today after eating to check out Idle Hands for some time now. Bits a very Brighton venue, quirky and unique and really friendly bar staff. We ordered Mac n cheese and a hot dog both with curly fries and relaly enjoyed it! The only complaint would be that they had both the front doors open and it was really cold and I heard a few other people mention how cold it was that is why i CNA only give the experience a 4 our of 5 stars.

Ask Holly to make you a cocktail.. you will not be disappointed! 😍 such a fab friendly atmosphere and I will definitely return

Great little bar with plenty of charm and beer. Staff are super friendly and ended up chatting to them most of the evening. The Mac n Cheese menu is awesome too. Only popped in for one drink but ended up staying all night. Highly recommended.

My partner and I alighted our train into Brighton, extremely parched only to happen upon the shimmer mirage that is ‘The Idle Hands’. The impressive collection of craft and locally brewed ales (which the dashing young man with behind the bar informed me are constantly changing) was enough to make the palette of any connoisseur tremble. I know this because the server allowed me to try a variety of what was on draught and each drink delighted my taste buds more than the last. When it was time to depart, we were wished a hearty goodbye by the the both handsome and radiantly smiley server before exiting the warm alcove back unto the dreary streets. This is a 10/10 pub with a warm, friendly atmosphere, stylish decour and a distinctive selection, a must visit!

Incredible bar, great drinks and fun loving staff. Holly is a dream! Definitely will return again on my next visit to Brighton.

Craft beers, cocktails, live music and a fabulous play list, what a brilliant bar, loved it will definately return !!

Have been to idle hands a few times now and always have a great night. The staff are super friendly (especially Katie and Jess) and are always there to share some knowledge on their range of craft beers and spirits. Would definitely recommend!!

I visited the Idle Hands on Saturday night and had a really fun time. The Irish band playing were very authentic and the atmosphere was great. The staff were very welcoming, offering tasters of the wide selection of beers available. They mentioned that soon cocktails will be available which is another good reason to visit again. I will definitely be back!

Stopped in here to get out of the awful rain. Small bar but great welcome. Eclectic seating style that adds to the friendly feel. Give discount to NHS staff too.

My boyfriend and I visited the Idle hands pub close to Brighton train station for a lunch and we were very satisfied with their new kitchen ‘Dirty Mac’, food it was very tasty, quick service and fresh ingredients at a very reasonable price! Highly recommend it. I will definitely go there again to try more options in the menu.

A friend and I popped in here for lunch today after seeing an offer on Wriggle. Burger, chops and schooner - £8.50. Bargain for a treat day lunch!

Been here a few times now with work. They have a small menu of burgers + fries including a vegetarian option too. The burgers are seriously good. And very good value.

It’s a lovely refit of somewhere you’d not have been in. Plenty of interesting craft ales - all keg as I recall. However a few were off when I was there, likely too early to have restocked from the previous night. It’s got a lovely feel to it and the food is clearly well cared for. They are all fantastical toasted sarnies - but that doesn’t begin to accurately describe them. Mid week lunch we got a sarnie (huge) and a side of topped potatoes and a schooner of ale for a tenner. Ridiculous!

They describe themselves as having a Victorian style with a Goth element, but it is much more than that, as reading this would not have attracted me in through the door. Although only a small menu the food is really excellent and stylish. The bar is good with some excellent Ales and Ciders. The staff are really knowledgeable and really care about their offerings. The Cider we had was a really well selected craft cider, not just taken on for an unusual name as you often find. A great find. As a new place I bet they will get really busy quite quickly once the word spreads.
