Stopped for a quick lunch. Place was immaculate! Lively American diner, music, Americana decoration. Simple, straightforward menu. Quick and polite service. Very good value for money. Would definitely recommend!

Interesting venue but overall a nice place to eat, good value for money and supporting a worthwhile cause, staff were very pleasant and were doing a good job, it does get quite busy so maybe worthwhile booking in advance during peak season or be prepared to table share. The views from outside are spectacular on a clear day would highly recommend a visit.

We dropped in here for breakfast during our 1 week stay in Portland. The cafe is in a very interesting location with excellent views in all directions from the outside space. We all enjoyed and full english breakfast with tea and were happy with everything on offer. In our view well worth a visit and in doing so you are supporting a great initiative.

Love the breakfast, the friendly service. The view of the harbour and the value for monies you get here. But if the Dorset apple cake is on, it is the best.

Extremely rude reception from the Manager, although the staff were friendly enough. We were made to feel so unwelcome that we finished our not very good coffees and left. Shan't go there again, and do not recommend.

My first visit yesterday and what a great surprise. The food was excellent and sensibly priced and the views along the Jurassic coast must rate among the best. I will be a regular visitor. 6 stars for this cafe.

This was a new experience but we enjoyed our snack immensely, it was well cooked and very well priced. The atmosphere is quite basic but you are made very welcome and if you venture outside the views on a good day are exceptional.

Excellent value food served here. The staff are pleasant and obliging and very efficient. Be careful with the size portions you order as they are massive. Most of the food is cooked to order so there may be a bit of a wait especially at busy times but it's worth waiting. Several tables outside offering splendid views over Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour. The cafe is situated in the grounds of the Verne Prison and has a small car park. The is disabled access. There are a small selection or jams and preserves on sale inside plus a small selection of tee shirts and other souvenirs.

Lovely service, good food & beautiful location. Would recommend a visit to this hidden treasure. We each ordered a ploughman’s lunch, not recommended for those wanting something small! Next time we would get one for the 2 of us to share, I had to leave half of mine. The panini’s looked very tasty too.

My first visit here and definitely won't be my last! Ordered from the special board I chose the New Yorker on white, I received fresh ingredients on a large white baguette filled to the brim with chicken, bacon, sweetcorn, mushrooms, bbq sauce, mayonnaise, seasoned with salt and pepper and topped with melted cheese complete perfection. This was bloody lovely well worth £6

A great experience once again. 5th time at The Avenue and it never fails to deliver first class food and service. The students are a credit to the college. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail make the experience a real pleasure. We thoughally enjoyed the lunch and experience as usual and can't wait to return in the very near future.

We have stayed in Abbotsbury after our wedding. We ended up coming to this pub 3 times within a few days. We loved the food and the staff was super friendly and welcoming! We recommend coming here for lunch or dinner. The lasagna and garlic bread/salad combo is to die for! So lovely. We’ve also tried fish cakes, tuna jacket potato, cod and chips, cottage pie! Everything was fresh and the cheese that they use is so delicious must be some sort of magic Dorset cheese! We couldn’t stop ordering side order of cheesy garlic bread! There is a lovely outdoor area, you can sit in the garden and the views are incredible! So much greenery and space. The interior of the pub is very vintage and there is a super cool collection of mini alcohol bottles and some photographs and decor makes you feel cosy, it’s a proper authentic English pub with tasty food.
