Jefferys Kashmiri Cuisine in East Devon

Oh my goodness, the food is delicious! The premises could do with some soft furnishings to reduce the echos from other diners chatter, but I cannot fault the good or the service.

We had our first take away tonight and the food was absolutely gorgeous. We are so impressed. Beautifully cooked. Can't wait to return.

Consistently the best Indian in Devon. Alongside great food the service is friendly and professional. Go there only when you are ready to not go to another Indian again…

We were out for the day and ended up in Ottery St Mary looking for lunch we came across Jeffrey's so thought we would give it a go. I'm glad we did as the food was very good. We had a mixture to share and were pleasantly surprised, the chef has tried hard to create nicely spiced and flavoured food and succeeded. We would happily return and eat here again. It's hard to tell what the atmosphere would normally be like as it was empty on an off season weekday but imagine there is a healthy local following.

A1 service. Staff are lovely and friendly food was nice and hot plenty of it tasted amazing would highly recommend 😁 you wouldn’t be disappointed

Popped in to get a starter/snack. I had the chicken samosa chaat and it was amazing. Fresh, lots of sweet zingy flavour to go with the spice. Way beyond my expectation and the service was great.. I'll be going back to try more.

I was unsure what type of establishment this was on my visit, a restaurant definitely but beyond that I knew very little. All I needed was a little something to tide me over till dinner time. A chicken curry roll hit the spot.

Always wonderful food, probably the best curry in Devon. The table behind ours were from London, and they said it was also the best they'd had outside of London. We took family from Bradford, who also loved the authentic way the food is prepared.

I hadn't booked, but although they were very busy, they gladly accommodated me. The food was excellent and this family business was obviously very popular with the locals. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Honestly, amazing place, the food was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing, everyone was so kind and the drinks were phenomenal (my favourite being the mr. Blue lagoon and the secret strawberry drink that wasn’t even on the menu yet!!)! Will definitely go back soon!!!

Better than the restaurants in London/ Mayfair. Food is quality Big Rich / Big Joe Egans close pal Amazing food, great atmosphere, quality authentic dishes, the flavours! The happy birthday thing you do for others! The condiments yum yum all so fresh! Toilets clean as well! I ate here 8 times in 10 days! Jeffrey very friendly to! You won’t be disappointed

I had an amazing experience at this Indian restaurant! Their street food was absolutely delicious – authentic flavors and generous portions that transported me straight to the streets of India. The pani puri and samosas chat were a must-try! The owner, a lovely lady, was incredibly kind and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed and even recommending dishes to try. Her warmth and hospitality made the meal even more special. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Went out for girlie afternoon fiesta with my friends and it was an absolute treat ! Aaina ,Jeff and Sudha went out of the way to ensure that our large party was very well fed with luscious multiple courses , big portions and overall very looked after. They were really kind to accommodate us N play our own music , moved the tables n chairs to enable us to shake our legs to a couple of Bollywood numbers which was really fun ! At one point Aaina even joined us in for trying her hand at bingo when we were a couple players short . Had an absolute ball n thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon- will love to go back again .

As always Jeffrey’s never fails to deliver on warmth, hospitality, hygiene and above all Food! Good quality ingredients served with authentic spices and herbs. Excellent service as always from Jeffrey himself and the lovely Kieran. The volume of trade speaks for itself from eating in the restaurant or getting a takeaway. We eat here at least once a month. Fabulous!

Great chilled curry, we were staying locally and fancied a Saturday night curry with the wet and cold weather! Food was great, lovely staff and great value for money. Would just mention it’s cash or bank transfer only.

Very nice little cafe, food was a nice large portion...Jeff's sarnie...bacon could have been done a bit crispier but that's just my preference. Was a little noisy in there and only took cash payments.

Went here yesterday and arrived quite late and we did not feel like an inconvenience to the staff. The service was excellent and the food delicious and extremely quick to come out. We had the chicken tikka korma, tandoori prawns and garlic rice and it was all amazing.

Having been recommended and tried Jeffery's Kashmiri Cuisine during our last visit to Devon (June 23), another visit was not to be missed. Upon a further recommendation of Jeffery's Eatery, i can share that you will indeed find a 'peice of passion in every bite'. Authentic Indian street food at its finest! Mouth watering dishes; can highly recommend the chaat bomb, samosa chaat, chicken noodles, butter chicken curry (my favourite) with naan. Mango lassi was amazing as was the ice cream. Masala chai is a must have! All the above came with 5 star service from staff who were attentive, make you feel very comfortable and welcome. Would loved to have tried other deserts (Ras Malai, Gulab Jamun) however, could not stomach anymore food. Look forward to visiting again!

Just amazing! We've been a few times and tried some of the wraps, chats and street food and all were superb quality and great flavours. The staff are always really friendly and helpful. I would recommend as a perfect lunch or easy dinner option :)

Foods not the cheapest but I always find it to be worth every penny. Genuinely the best kashmiri/Indian style takeaway I've eaten from.

Inspired by TA, we chose this restaurant for dinner while staying nearby. We were both very impressed with the friendly welcome and the food. It was one of the best Indian meals I have ever had, as no element disappointed. I can highly recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh. We will definitely return when we are next in the area.

Honestly don’t think I’ve been to a more friendly, welcoming place, and obviously the food was absolutely divine. If you’re not sure what you want, the amazing owner will test your pallet and recommend something delicious. Nothing she recommended disappointed me. We ordered in advance a very large takeaway for a Saturday night party. Jeffery took the order and was brilliant about ensuring everything was correct, even when we added more to the order two days later. They delivered right on time, even though it was most likely their busiest time & day of the week. The food itself was fresh and delicious, just as it always is when we eat at the restaurant too, and everything was still lovely and hot. Thank you very much to the team at Jeffrey's!

My husband treated me to a wonderful birthday meal at Jeffrey's last night. 27th March) I had the butter chicken, which was fabulous. My husband had mentioned on booking that it was for my birthday, & when we arrived the table was beautifully decorated with balloons & a birthday banner, then afterwards we were surprised with a slice of birthday cake & candle & they sang happy birthday to me - it was so lovely. Thank you to all the staff at Jeffrey's for making my day even more special. 😁 The food was amazing - but we already knew this from previous take away purchases. We highly recommend Jeffrey's . 👍

Very, very tasty. Great service. Unfortunately, they don't take credit cards, but they do accept online transfers. When that didn't work, the boss trusted that I would transfer the money from home 3 days later. But: There is an ATM at the One-Stop.

Have eaten in and two takeaways and just gorgeous food, super service and they explain the dishes and also you can choose to have it hotter or less spicy, great prices and highly recommend

Better late than never! We have had Jeffreys take away for the last couple years and it has never disappointed. We dined in for the first time on 5th Jan 24 for my mum-in-laws 70th birthday and it was exquisite. The food as always was great, but it was the staff that made it special with great service throughout and genuine friendliness (and birthday related decorations), making the kids feel a part of it all. Keep up the great work guys, you're a real asset to Ottery St Mary.

I’ve been here 3 times with our Curry Club, and each time it has been excellent. We normally try somewhere different each month, but the last three months we have all wanted to revisit Jeffrey’s. Food and service are always excellent. If I was to nitpick the only criticism is no cards accepted. Cash or direct debit only 🥺

The Kashmiri themed menu and food was some of the best around! I highly recommend you try this place! One star knocked off because it was very loud and they don't accept credit cards. However you can do a bank transfer.

Have so far only experienced the home delivery service, when visiting Devon from my home in Essex. The orders were processed politely and efficiently over the phone. Always arrives punctually. The food is simply divine. Jeffery is an absolute gentleman and I would recommend this restaurant very highly indeed.

WE WERE VISITING A WEDDING FAYRE IN Exeter and were looking for an evening meal when we came upon Jefferys in Ottery St Mary. I had Chicken Biryiani and it was excellent. The Vegetable Curry served with it was just the best. Great service and very good food. Thank you. We shall return

The food at Jeffery's is absolutely superb, far better than the 'average curryhouse'. We've been lots of times as it's local to us (luckily) and have never been disappointed. I'm sixty years old now and must have been to literally hundreds of Indian restaurants in my life - Jeffery's is easily in the top 5%. You know it makes sense, you will not regret a meal here.

Absolutely brilliant dinner. Food was delicious and we ate everything we ordered. The staff were brilliant when discussing a peanut allergy. on booking they had asked if it was a special occasion. it was a birthday and on arrival there were balloons and a banner at our table. They even organised a slice of birthday cake with candles. We will definitely return

We found Jefferys Kashmiri to be 'instantly' welcoming, effecient, well organised, clean, excellent service, happy relaxed atmosphere, good menue and delious food, (spoilt for choice) what ever we chose would not have been a mistake.Many thanks team (look out for Harry, he's a 'cracker') as are all members.

Ordered a takeaway at 1710hrs. Charged a delivery fee of £1.50. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't query it. However, on their website it clearly states FREE DELIVERY within 3mile radius. We live quarter of a mile away. Arrived quickly tbf but stone cold. Queried why delivery charge as a matter of interest and was told oh that's when we first opened! The guy then said all the prices had gone up since the web site was first made but he doesn't know how to change any of the information! Hmmm! We had ordered from the Kashmiri once before, just prior to Christmas, and wasn't impressed that time with the food but thought it only fair to give them another go. The lamb bhuna was dry as old boots. No sauce. The chicken korma had basically no sauce. And the portion sizes were the same as before..... half the size of the small containers! Never in my life have experienced such small portions . The 2 onion bhajis were like a flat fritter, like leather and just the worst. Very expensive for what was had. Overall, very disappointed. Sadly won't be frequenting again Don't think we are hard to please but cannot understand all the rave reviews.

Note, this place is cash only, I only found out after eating and wanting to pay the bill, should have been told before really as it was awkward leaving my partner at the table alone while I go and get some cash out at the end. Parking is a bit of a pain, lucky if you get a space in the road out front but can park for 2 hours at Sainsbury's and is only a 3 min walk. parking out front is 1 hour only before 6pm but any time after 6pm. The food was lovely, came out quick. There were some small heaters set up but as we were sat in the back corner and had staff walking back and forth to go out back and in again right next to us it was breezy and quite cold to the point my partner did not take her coat off, I'm sure other seats in the small restaurant would have been more comfortable. The service was ok. Overall nice place and not too expensive.

I had a vegetable biryani which was really flavoursome as was the baingan bhaji. My friend had coconut pilau rice, mushroom bhaji which she really enjoyed. The garlic nan was perfect, not thick or heavy and stodgy. Booked a table for next week! Would highly recommend.

Recently started dining in and taking out from here and the food is phenomenal, no complaints from me.

The food was absolutely delicious!! The service was incredibly friendly and they went above and beyond to make my niece’s birthday extra special. They made all the children really welcome, put up banners, balloons and a scrumptious chocolate cake with candles for everyone to sing happy birthday! I cannot recommend the food enough either, so flavoursome and great portion size. Our first time visiting but definitely not our last! Already arranging when to go again.

The most amazing Kashmiri/Indian restaurant in the the south west! The service is impeccable and the food is amazing, freshly cooked and above all else. The restaurant were so accommodating to my husband who organised to surprise me with my family for my birthday. They put up decorations and sang happy birthday to me and gave us a cake. It was brilliant.

I ordered my food for delivery, but unfortunately, they could not do it due to being very busy, and I couldn't pick it up as my leg is in a cast. However, after cancelling the order and putting the phone down, they rang me back and said that they would deliver for me. I thought this deserves a good review just for the service as they didn't have to go above and beyond for me, but they did. Thank you, guys. 😊

By far the best Indian Takeaways in the area. The dishes are slightly more pricey than other Takeaways, but the extra cost is reflected in the quality of the cooking and ingredients.

My wife and I went at the weekend for our anniversary dinner and we both thought the food was fantastic. The service from the team was also spot on. I think the tikka masala was a little on the too sweet side if I was to nit pick but it really is nit picking and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely restaurant and we hope to be back soon. Definitely try the chilli chicken starter if you go. One other thing they don't accept cards here so take cash or you can do a bank transfer to pay.

The consistently best curry I’ve had in 55 years. Whenever I have guests with me I always take them to Jefferys. From the freshest popadoms and garnishes to the superb Tawa chicken and the food is consistently tasty and fresh. Jeffery is a superb host and will give you suitable recommendations. His staff are swift and attentive. The restaurant was packed on a Friday night. I had made a reservation 3 nights in advance and could only get a table for 8:15. We were happy to wait knowing the wait is worth it. East Devon really is lucky to have this amazing restaurant in the doorstep. The price is tremendous good value too. My only concern is that eventually the place is going to get so popular it is going to be difficult to get in!

It is important to be fair but this is the second time in a row that I have had an upset stomach after having takeaway from here. Last time it was both myself and my girlfriend that were ill, this time just me as it was takeaway for just me. The food was very tasty but I have reported this to environmental health and won't be returning after this. It is important to be fair and let the council make their own investigations.

Whilst staying nearby, we decided to try this restaurant. so glad we did! The food was amazing, so fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. All the staff were friendly and attentive, taking time to serve us and explain the menu, when asked. Only downside: we live too far away, otherwise we would be there every week! Definitely recommend, which we did to a couple we met during our stay and they went and said similar. Thank you for a lovely evening.

This is a very special restaurant. The reviews drew us in. Turned up first on a Saturday without booking so had to cope with disappointment. Returned the following Thursday 10th August. It’s the most welcoming Indian we’ve ever been to. Spoke to Jeffery at length about what we liked to help making our choice. We couldn’t have been happier, the use of fresh ingredients and spices were so apparent. Two other members of staff working were equally as friendly and welcoming as Jeffery. We will return for sure. Excellent 👍
