Relaxed, tasty mexican in the heart of Norwich! Interesting dishes that blend classic mexican flavours (standard chicken/beef burritos etc) alongside creative starters such as grilled leeks in mole sauce, cod croquettes (melt in the mouth and gloriously fishey), and tofu in spicy plum sauce. Value is reasonable, but by no means cheap. Good range of natural wines, Verdant beer on tap, Mexican bottled beers and mezcal/tequila. Limited veggie and vegan options, but possibly available on request (eg., vegan cheese).

This is one of the best places in Norwich for a good meal and margarita. They have vegan options, 2 floors of seating, gorgeous windows, and it overlooks the market. We had nachos, carne asada tacos, vegetarian quesadilla, pork shoulder tacos, vegan oyster mushroom tostadas, and a few margaritas and were very happy with our choices.

One of my favourite cuisines is Mexican food, I’ve tried all the new franchises in Norwich now but I’ve been meaning to try Jive Kitchen. I went with my family a couple of weeks ago and it is fantastic. I couldn’t believe the portion sizes. It a great little spot with a beautiful view overlooking the gentleman’s walk. We got the chopped cheese burritos, Og fried chicken burritos, Chicken thigh tacos, Loaded fries and the Pork nachos. I would definitely recommend sharing one burrito between two! An amazing combination of flavours. Everything is so fresh! My favourite thing we got were the pork nachos and of course the burritos! I 100% recommend! I can’t wait to go again to try some other things on the menu.

The food here tastes good, but is on the pricey side for what it is. Not stricly 'mexican' food in the traditional sense - its more fusion - so if you go in expecting that you may be disappointed. The Beef Tacos and the OG Chicken burrito were really tasty although the burrito was far too thick to really be eaten like you'd usually eat it - i had to use fork in the end as it just kept falling out.

Great place to eat with good food and atmosphere, definitely worth a visit and booking is recommended to avoid disappointment as it gets busy!

Never noticed this restaurant in all the years I had been to Norwich. It's a gem if you like mexican food. Brilliant food and service.

We were really looking forward to this. We love Mexican food and the menu looked really interesting. Unfortunately, apart from the location, there is very little of worth here. We almost left as we presumed they had forgotten about our order (even neglecting to bring up two glasses of tap water). Suddenly, everything was on the table at once. Fine. The cocktails weren’t balanced and didn’t taste of pineapple (one of the central ingredients.) The prawn tacos were extremely average and tiny for the price. No flavours jumped out and the overwhelming memory is of cheap, crispy batter. The burritos were next. I’d ordered the aubergine, which seemed like a good veggie alternative. Unfortunately it was so spicy that I couldn’t eat it. Sure, my tastebuds aren’t Hot Ones ready but there was zero indication for the heat. My partner offered me half of his burrito as he wasn’t enjoying it. He said it wasn’t spicy at all. This was correct. It also wasn’t tasty at all. It was one of the worst burritos I’ve ever eaten, in fact (despite being starving) I couldn’t finish it. I knew it contained some very greasy mince and bland rice with beans but, honestly, I have no idea of what else was in it. It advertised pico de gallo. How can you make that somehow invisible? There should’ve been crunchy raw onion and coriander. I sensed nothing. Even the cheese seemed to have turned to nothing but heavy fat. Really unappetising. Burritos here cost £15. I honestly rather have a Taco Bell. The waiter noticed we hadn’t eaten much. I explained that my taco was too hot. He told me that was the habanero butter but didn’t say “Oh, that’s a shame,” or anything. He asked if everything else was alright. I should have said everything was not but we just wanted to leave. I didn’t get the impression that it would have made any difference and frankly, we felt quite depressed! No idea how it’s obtained its high rating on here. Don’t be fooled.

Any visit to Jive is a fabulous experience. The dishes are delicious, an inspired menu, piquant and full of flavour. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It's not the first time I've eaten there and hopefully it won't be the last.

Great little restaurant in an interesting location and a personal favourite. Has a nice view over Norwich market while you eat and has great tasting Mexican cuisine. Has a nice selection of cocktails which pair really well with the delicious food. Have brought guests to dine there many times as I enjoyed it that much and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Just watch out for the stairs to get up there!

Came here with some work colleagues mid week, and throughly enjoyed the food and cocktails! I had a bees knees which was tequila based with a jalapeño kick, very nice. The food was lovely, wings and tacos were stand out for me! Hope to return soon

Norwich is so lucky to have Jive! Unquestionably one of the best places to eat in Norwich, and the best, most authentic Mexican in Norfolk. My spouse and I went last night for date night and had such an amazing time we’re already planning our next meal there. It’s housed in a beautiful old townhouse overlooking Norwich’s market and the decor combines original features with industrial styling, bringing soulful cantina vibes. My spouse also gave the music a big thumbs-up, nice bit of laid-back hip hop which added to Jive’s chilled, fun ambiance. The servers couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive; drinks and food were served swiftly and the servers gave great advice as to dish pairing and portion sizes. Our window-side second-floor table had amazing views over the city centre ~ just perfect for a sunny summer evening. As for the food and drink… where to begin, it was all SO good! The mojito was stuffed with fresh mint, and the lime Fresca was so delicious I had to order another one. Sometimes non-alcoholic drink offerings can be basic and unimaginative - not at Jive, which has a range of very decent options. My spouse had been hankering for Jive’s infamous fried-chicken doughnut, and just fell in love with it. I’m a gluten-free pescatarian which can make eating out a tad tricky, but here there were so many accommodating options that I felt totally satisfied. The dishes were just all SO good, so full of freshness and complex textures. We left happily satisfied and will definitely be returning - thanks so much, Jive!

My spouse and I were super-excited about our date night at Jive, one of the best and most vibrant indie places to eat in Norwich. We deliberately lunched lightly and arrived hungry to pay full justice to Jive’s cooking, and HECK was it good! As always the food was super fresh, full of authentic flavours and textures, and we savoured every bite. My spouse was very happy with their mojito full of fresh mint and I was glad I tried the lime Fresca ~ it was so good I had to have two 🍋‍🟩🍋‍🟩. The service was flawless and our lovely server gently recommended additional delicious dishes because we cluelessly under-ordered, and she was spot on. Our table on the second floor was at treetop level and it was perfect for a spot of people-watching on a sunny evening. I also have to mention the beautiful building which is Jive’s home; an old townhouse in which tactile original features sit comfortably with vibey updates like murals and festoon lighting, all within a soundscape of cool urban beats. This is unquestionably one of the best places to eat in Norwich and we’ll definitely be back.

Worst service i’ve ever had- how on earth 3 staff to look after 10 tables managed to be that slow I do not know, servers shuffled around staring at their feet the entire time. Sat for 20 minutes trying to get a servers attention as well. Cocktail wasn’t balanced well, couldn’t drink it and no server noticed. Won’t be returning as this was for my partners 20th birthday and it’s been embarrassing. Also, no dish needs that much coriander it just tasted like soap. Only good thing was the pork nachos but we were also confused as to why we ordered them as a side and received them before the starters, and then got the mains before we finished that when we weren’t ready.

Absolutely outstanding. Genuinely the best Mexican food we have eaten and one of our stand out meals of the year. Excellent value for food. Drinks surprisingly pricey but great beers. How this place isn't booked out weeks in advance is beyond me. We will be back!!

The Chicken Doughnut burger is absolutely incredible! If only this was on the menu all the time. Never had anything like it- perfection! Lovely staff, great service & obviously incredibly talented kitchen chefs! A unique & exceptional dining experience in Norwich- GO!

You’ll thrive in Jive! Went on a quieter Tuesday evening, and was so impressed. Food absolutely fantastic (portions were very big it was a challenge), staff lovely, and really nice vibe to the place. Really lovely hidden gem overlooking the market. They also have really cool merch.

There is literally nothing bad I can say about this place, the interior is very cute and has a lovely view, the service was absolutely amazing and the food was unbelievably good. It's small and I could've walked right past it but I recommend giving it a go because it's genuinely one of the best meals I've had

I happened on this place while away working. Food was genuinely lovely. Attentive but not intrusive service. Frozen pineapple margaritas are a winner !

Disappointed. The burritos come out on a plate the size of a side plate and wrapped in foil. The beef burrito was barely warm. The chicken burrito tasted delicious but still could have been served on a dinner plate instead of a side plate! Priced like a restaurant but served like street food! No thanks!

My first visit to a Jive Kitchen. The choices were reasonably varied, and we all ate different tacos. We were looking only for a light meal. All of the food was very nice. Quality was very good, service was equally good.

A little gem overlooking Norwich Market. A bit pricey but by far the best burrito I had in the city! I visit it every time I go back to Norwich.

£14 for the chicken burrito was questionable, very dry and failed to taste like a burrito altogether. Service was mid, felt pressured to buy two plates of tacos, even tho we repeated twice that we can order if we are still hungry. Tacos 🌮 were the only dish I might go back for. Ambience was on point, very much happy to support a small local business but things just didn’t go right.

Just a fantastic. Came in for some food with partner and had a fantastic time, service was so good we were talking about it the next day. Served by a person with black hair and a straight fringe, absolutely brilliant service. Food was all really tasty and well priced. 10/10

If I could rate Jive a 6, I’d give it a 6. Fantastic food, fantastic music, fantastic staff - honestly couldn’t get any better. The best margarita in town! Summer, Adam and Lizzie were the best part of the evening, so attentive and great conversation - couldn’t have asked for a better evening. I suggest the Birria tacos and the goat’s cheese tacos but honestly I’ve been here multiple times and every time I’ve come it just gets better.

Brilliant dinner here, intimate venue but excellent service and food. Get the birria tacos they’re amazing. I got greedy and ordered the tacos and the pork burrito, which I couldn’t finish but no regrets.

What happened?! This place used to be incredible but I went last night and it was like a completely different restaurant, and not in a good way. I’m all for a menu change to keep things fresh, but they’ve taken off the good beers and replaced them with low alcohol IPA’s, which are still £6.50 a pint. We ordered margaritas instead as we know they’ve been good in the past but they tasted like a pre-mixed carton, and arrived in a half pint mug. 40 minutes later, we asked if our food would be arriving soon, to be told that our order had been ‘wiped from the system’ and they’d start it now. The starters were cold and bland so we didn’t bother sticking around for the mains to arrive, but we were still charged £65 for drinks and starters. The staff did not seem surprised that we were leaving early, but did not offer any form of apology or reconciliation. I’m not sure what has happened to this once lovely restaurant, but we won’t be back.

Excellent choice for a Saturday afternoon lunch with friends. Delicious food. We particularly enjoyed the pork tacos, the loaded fries and the smoke stack cocktail. Really nice vibe and quick service.

1 of our party has allergies which we informed them of on booking. The waiting staff were very knowledgeable of the whole menu and particularly helpful with allergens. All food was fantastic

Jive is our favourite Norwich restaurant. But we don't go enough. And last night proved that we should go more, because it was another AMAZING meal. The wings among the best I've ever had - and definitely the best in the UK. The birria tacos are next level, and probably one of only a few places you can get authentic-style birria in the UK. The patatas bravas prove again that the chef if not only good, but innovative, creating delicious new twists on classics (they were like croquettes, with grated hard cheese - and the sauce was to die for!). And so, by a country mile, Jive remains our favourite restaurant!

Wanted to try something different and found this on Google maps while visiting Norwich We both had burritos - smallish, but very filling, could not finish. Both tasted amazing. Had a leek starter,which was a little salty for my tastes, but was perfect for my partner. We booked and we were glad we did as it was bustling. Not bad for a Monday night in a rainy city. The restaurant is on floors 1 and 2, so you may have issues if mobility problems

Absolute find! Really great Mexican food, top service in a good vibe / atmosphere. All while being affordable prices. Wide range of menu choices without being overbearing - and food was all delicious. Will definitely be back.

Amazing space, great menu and wonderful cocktails. The burritos were, well, if you like coriander they would be great. I however, do not like coriander and it wasn't listed on the menu (I know a lot of the time it isn't as it's a garnish). I get it's a me issue but it did mean I had to dismantle the burrito and pick out as much of the nasty green stuff as I could!!

when sat we waited 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We then had to ask a waitress to take our food order as other tables sat after us had their orders taken way before us. it then took half an hour to receive a single plate of nachos and again had to ask a waitress for the rest of our food. however the nachos did taste good, the service took away from the dining experience.

So the three stars. One is for the food.. I have worked in a LOT of kitchens across the country including local places and this food.. my lord those beef tacos and loaded nachos are off the chart! So good. Second the drinks are so good. Three the restaurant its-self is lovely, toilets are clean, service is quick. Lack of two stars because the front of house staff. While the person who served us was lovely there was lack of attention and some of the FOH staff were quite rude. Really brought the whole thing down. I would go back and I would recommend. Might have just been a bad night.

I visited with my family for a meal and the food was amazing I had the chicken tacos and they were honestly the best tacos i’ve ever had. Service was quick and the staff were friendly. The place is quite small but makes the atmosphere even more lively.

Lovely food, got the Aqua Frescos and Berf Burritos. Very filling and delicious. Loaded fries were super yummy too!

Went here with friends for lunch, food took a while to come out but they did make accommodations to make a dish vegetarian, food was good but the waitress who served us was very rude, like we had bothered her afternoon by coming in for lunch. Wouldn't recommend for this reason never been somewhere with such an unfriendly and unwelcoming server

Amazing Mexican restaurant with a 5* menu. The tacos were all amazing and the patas bravas was one of the nicest things I’ve ever eaten. Really delicious cocktails. Only slight disappointment was we were a late booking and it felt at times they wanted to rush us out… but that could have just been a one-off experience. Would really recommend!

I was terribly disappointed with the restaurant last night..the menu was very small and no vegan options atall. I chose a taco meal as it was down looking like a main. They suggested 2 of these but u chose 1. All u got was literally 2 taco crisps with a blob of mayo with a few bits of sweetcorn. None of us were given any salad garnish with any meal and the biggest thing I couldn't belive were when we asked for any sauces to put on our side order if chips as in mayo etc we got charged 50 pence each for a dollop of mayo in a tiny pot! I've never known a restaurant to charge for any of these! Very disappointing. Also on the drinks menu all they had spirit wize was tequila I asked the waitress if they had any other choice she said they do other spirits but didn't know why thry are not put on the menu. All in all a very disappointing experience

We approached Jive about hosting an intimate wedding dinner for our closest friends and family. When the day came, I dont think there was a single thing I could fault. The food was beautiful, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were exceptional. Truly one of Norwich's best restaurants and staffed by some of the its best residents.

We stopped here for lunch whilst visiting Norwich. The design of this place is quite quirky but the space is limited. The food was absolutely delicious, we had spicy wings to start and burritos for main. We didn't manage to finish everything as the portions were very generous. The only let down was the service. Everything was so slow, we had to ask the waiter to take our order, to bring the cutlery and napkins, to take our empty glasses...it wasn't just happening naturally. Not sure why, the place did not look full of customers. They don't have a kids menu but it wasn't a problem for us, our little one just had fries and a home made lemonade. All in all, we really enjoyed our food and will be happy to give it another go when in Norwich.

Came here recently with friends for dinner. It's a little hidden away, and you have to climb a couple flights of stairs to get to the restaurant. Quite a small place, but has a couple of floor for seating - would definitely book ahead of time as it can get busy! The service was friendly, the food all tasted fantastic, and a moderate price for everything we ordered. One thing to note: they'll bring mains out only once you've finished starters, we didn't realise this and ended up waiting longer than expected, but staff were very friendly about it. Overall, a great experience with a place that does Mexican food well

"Underrated" is the perfect word to describe Jive Kitchen. We ordered the AUBERGINE MILANESA, GRILLED LEEKS with MOLE NEGRA & BURNT CHILE BUTTER, and TRUFFLE FRIES, along with an alcohol-free PINEAPPLE drink. We absolutely loved the food, and the ambiance was fantastic. Although we couldn't sit upstairs due to a shortage of staff, the view from the first floor was also amazing. The service was quick, and the food was fabulous. My only wish is that they had more vegan or vegetarian options on the menu so I could come back to try something different. It's a great spot for lunch dates and a must-visit if you're in Norwich. 🩵

Delicious food, great vibes and outstanding service! The staff catered to our groups food needs (some vegan, one that could only eat plain salad) and really made the evening great. Drinks are 5* and would defo recommend the Tommy’s Margarita! We will be back! ⭐️

Stopped by for a lunch with my wife. There was a small but great quality menu that covers all the Mexican favourites: tacos and burritos. We bought both a beef and chicken burrito and had half each. Lots of depth and flavour and the right level of heat. Beer selection was incredible (Verdant!) and reasonably priced. An excellent place to eat and somewhere I'll come back to on future trips to Norwich. Delicious and recommended.

The steak burrito that they used to do was to die for. sadly they now only do a minced beef version, not remotely as good. The tacos are also well cooked.

Not only is the food incredibly delicious (we sampled the chicken, fish and pork tacos as well as the cheese and bacon quesadillas), but it he atmosphere is really relaxed, calm and friendly. Beer was really tasty and customer service perfect. I have a severe peanut allergy and they way they dealt with this was perfect - I felt confident they were doing all they could to ensure I was safe and enjoyed my dinner. We will definitely return.

Everytime I go to Jive I think it gets better and better. These guys know Mexican food and they know Cocktails.
