Jolly Jacks in Plymouth

Came down today with family, for lunch ,lovely place have been here quite a few times ,service great food was lovely ,great place ,grandsons were well impressed with their burgers ,and adults just loved fish finger sandwiches .

We had a lovely waiter I think his name is Gary? Or grim..he wasn’t overly attentive and just the right amount of friendly. Really surprisingly romantic vibe, online it comes across as a loud lad bar. However we were surprised that it was a bit classy. We went for our 2nd year anniversary, my partner has the goats brûlée with pickled pear and some green sauce to start, then the roast and then the crème caramel with roasted prunes. They loved everything and are quite hard to please. The beef was cooked to perfection and melted in ones mouth. And the celeriac sauce was shockingly the stand out of the main corse. I had the serf and turf with the anchovy butter which was INCREDIBLE. However there was far too much fat on the steak and the prawns were over cooked. The spiced cider was very alcoholic and we had it warm, my partner loved it but it was very strong as it has a shot of spiced rum in. The Black Forest martini was to dye for and the Prosecco was tart and would pass on it next time.

Beautiful lunch with lovely flavours that left us full so couldn't have a desert unfortunately. The soup was best soup I've had and the chicken supreme was delicious. Staff were very attentive and surroundings were cosy. Wld def go again.

I just celebrated my 30th here with a big group, and it was amazing! Would highly recommend to anyone. The team were really helpful in the planning stages, and on the night were just amazing! The food was all delicious, and it was all round brilliant. Thank you all!!

Not great service this morning. Not the usual welcome we are used to from jolly Jack's. Felt like the staff couldn't be bothered to serve us .

Three of us came in for informal supper. Booked but not necessary, maybe half full. Deal of £25 for two portions of fish and ships, geared towards couples but we have to pay about £17 for a third. The girls serving seemed to be getting edgy towards the end maybe because there seemed to be a group of their friends towards end of evening.

Dropped in for tea on a Sunday evening after a day trip to Cornwall. Both my wife and I had the roast beef and I can honestly say it's the best roast I have had in a while. Also had Rolo our Choc Lab with us and they made hime feel very welcome. Highly recommend

Our friends from NYC had seen my FB posts & asked to visit during their stay in Cornwall. We had a fantastic meal..the scallop starter & fish pie main course were a particular favourite (plus the sticky toffee pudding). As always friendly & polite staff…all in all another lovely evening & much enjoyed by our USA friends.

Great place with fantastic food. One of those where it is difficult to choose something because you want it all. In the marina so a great location with boats and views of Royal William Yard. Easy to park, first hour free then 50 pence for an hour so only cost us 50 p which is great value. Sounds boring but decided on cod and chips and it was all superb, the best Tartare sauce I have ever had anywhere, Definitely going back. Great service and friendly staff too. Nice outside seating area if you prefer.

Absolutely amazing food and really nice staff. We have had many dinners and breakfasts here and it’s always great here. Consistent with their great quality of service and food. Definitely worth spending money here!!!

We enjoyed our starters, along with the fish and chips. Lamb flatbrrad was nice, but could've done with being warm. Good service, nice decor. Can park for free for an hour, then 50p for 2 hours in the marina

Best fried calamari I've ever had! Jolly Jacks is such a gem and I'm so happy I found it! The service was great and efficient. I ordered the calamari with inked mayo as well as scallops and buttered greens. Everything was delicious and I was happily surprised by the generous scallops portion. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a place to eat fresh seafood (and more!) by the marina without fuss! Thank you, I will be back!

Cozy spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink. Food has always been to a constantly high standard. Not the largest menu, but means what they do have is almost always available and freshly prepared at a reasonable price. Plenty of parking inside and outside of the marina. Rarely need to book unless it’s a special day like Father’s Day. Service can be a tad slow at busy times, but still somewhere I enjoy eating, or just popping in for a coffee.

We had a GRSAT experience at JJ ‘s . We had pre lunch drinks out on the Sunny terrace and then moved inside to have lunch : we had a trio of sharing plates to start : Hummus ( truly outstanding) and flat bread , calamari & Padron peppers . Mains - Clam chowder , Sea food linguine & Super Bowl salad . Coffees and Affagatto , washed down with Prosecco & a bottle of Merlot The lunch was truly outstanding and to top it all off , we were served by the wonderful Hannah !!!!! Can’t wait to comeback and see you guys soon .

Fantastic pork belly roast, great value/quality kids meal, lovely service and all accompanied by a fab singer.

We ordered 2 portions of fish and chips to takeaway last night and it was outstanding! Lovely big pieces of fish and crunchy chips! Gorgeous tartar sauce too! We will be having it again in 2 weeks! Thanks Jolly's! :-)

Visited Jolly Jacks on Saturday 3rd August 24. Delicious tapas and wine. Staff were excellent. We were served by Graham and Hayley who were very efficient and hospitable. What a team. We will be returning

Been coming here regularly for well over a year and we’ve never been disappointed. Breakfast lunch and dinner, never had a bad meal! Friendly staff, always space to sit. Outside area is lovely and inside decor too. Can’t rate it highly enough

We were dining in, on one of the weekends. It was very busy and we were informed that there would be a wait, of about 40 min. We didn't mind, as we had a nice time together. The place itself is nicely decorated, small and cosy. Food arrived I think quicker than expected, however it was noticeable that it was a bit rushed. As a big plus, the coffee was really good, fresh, strong and looked pretty. The staff were doing their best.

Had a wonderful experience on a rainy day here at Jolly Jacks. We got in a bit early for lunch, as breakfast was ending but they were more than happy to seat and serve us anyway. Started with an Americano for myself and a flat white for my partner, both of which were great. Appetizers were calamari and mussels. The calamari was incredibly tender, surprisingly so. The sauce it was served with had a nice curry flavor, definitely something unique to what's usually served and very welcome. It was delicious. The mussels were wonderful as well and the sauce was so good I almost asked for a straw. Had we not had mains, I would have been more than happy to sop it up with the provided bread. Next came out mains, the fish n chips and Sunday roast. The fish had a great, crispy batter and was perfectly flakey. Even the mushy peas were very tasty. But the star seemed to be the house made tartar sauce. Chunky and flavorful, I wish I could buy it in a jar. And the Sunday roast was just what I was looking for. The Yorkshire pudding was crispy, airy and light. The roasted veg was great and crispy-tender. The roast beef could have been a little more tender but had great flavor and color on the exterior and was perfectly medium rare inside. Gravy had great flavor as well. The sides were amazing and buttery as well. The interior was clean, organized and inviting. Everyone who helped us was kind and lovely. If we lived here we'd absolutely return.

Called in for a drink when we were working in Plymouth. Lovely bar restaurant with excellent location and views at Mayflower Marina. Although we didn't have enough time to order a meal, the food and service we witnessed looked great.

friendly and polite Staff made for a lovely lunch on the sea front, I had the best Cod and chips I have ever had, excellent food. Followed by a short walk to mount wise Park to take in the views.

This is an up dated review, today is 21/01/2024 I had the Sunday roast, it was an excellent cut of beef and good selection of veg and ideal quantity on the plate. A little expensive for a roast in Plymouth but by far the best there nothing to compare it to. Will be back next week for more.

Unpretentious but delicious food, quickly served.

First visit four Adults for breakfast disappointed sorry to say, captains breakfast (12.50) not value for the price asked can I change the black pudding for a hash brown NO said the young waitress we don’t do swoops, Breakfast looked very dry , the scrambled egg well overcooked and the toast wasn’t buttered,so first time experience not to good.

Beautifully cooked food. Loved the steak. Not too gourmet but really good. Nice bright room with friendly vibe. Friendly service too. Highly recommended.

Worst part was the slow and unattentive service, not checked on during meal, or offered more drinks when all had empty glasses, plates not cleared, not asked about desserts and couldn’t get hold of anyone for the bill. The roast was so salty it was inedible. Parts of it were completely cold. A few of the tables around us complained of the same things. Staff were rude when we complained, no apology, couldn’t care less. Really disappointing…their socials make out the roast is worth a visit (fake 5* reviews?!) but wish we hadn’t bothered. Won’t return and will be spreading the word to others not to bother either.

We had a lovely relaxed evening at the Jolly Jacks. The staff were very helpful when I rang to change the booking time and gave very good instructions on how to enter the marina. The food was very good: just too much of it! The whitebait were larger than I was expecting (no head) but still tasty. The scallops and mussels were excellent.

Lovely Sunday roast for a table of 8 for my son’s birthday. Great service by Debbie too! Highly recommend giving Jolly Jacks a visit.

We go pretty often and after a shaky start post re-opening JJ is now better than ever. Uniformly good food, friendly and professional staff. Would recommend for eating, drinks or snacks ant time of the day

Small restaurant at the marina, serving excellent food - the mussels (from Fowey) were the highest quality I have ever eaten. Desserts wonderfully sweet 😊

Lovely lunchtime stop, large portions, nice and hot with great service

It takes a lot for a restaurant to get 5 stars from me, but this place is quite simply one of the best at which I've ever eaten. The seafood is local, fresh, and cooked to perfection. Dish selection is varied enough to cater to all tastes without being overwhelming. Value for money is exceptional. The chowder was good enough to make a gourmet weep for joy. We drove 45 minutes out of our way to check out Jolly Jack's, and would cheerfully drive twice that to come again. Absolutely superb.

Disappointed with customer service! It’s the little things that being people back and this was missing today . Wanted to swap black pudding for something else and they wanted to charge me for the privilege. The breakfast was ok .

First of the staff were very friendly & accommodating, especially when we had a hyper child. Calamari was good, the stake was fantastic melt in your mouth, dessert was a bit disappointing, but all in all a good evening had thank you JOLLY JACKS we will be back

I used to enjoy coming here regularly. It's the first time visiting since the new owners took over. We went as a party of 7 for breakfast. It wasn't busy, but service was very slow. A couple of the orders were wrong which were corrected with no hassle. My poached eggs were over done. My friends butter had melted in the pack to liquid. Hopefully they were just having a bad day. I will return and try again. But unfortunately this time the price didn't match the quality of cooking and service.

I visited here after a friend recommended it and it didn't disappoint. I had the seafood chowder and it was superb. Then a coffee and chocolate brownie sundae for dessert which I have to be honest was very pricey for what it was. All in all an excellent meal and would recommend.
