Came here for Xmas drinks with staff last night and couldn’t believe how poorly we were treated by this military like head barman. He really was very unpleasant. We were a mixed group of men and women and we ordered a round of drinks for circa £100. One of the ladies did not like the way they over spiced her cocktail so politely asked for something else. The head barman, who wasn’t even serving us, got involved and very angrily started waving his hands around as if we were trying it on - we weren’t. We then sat outside and for our next round we popped in to the neighbouring bar to get this lady the cocktail she wanted and we also purchased more drinks from both bars. The barman brought security over and demanded we left because we were drinking a drink that wasn’t purchased from their bar - but we were drinking 7 other drinks that were , vs two drinks that weren’t - so if we apply this rule , we were not allowed to sit in either bar ! So I agreed to then go in to his bar and purchased another round for £110 , which I believed was our negotiation to allow her to remain at our table , but of course , as soon as we had purchased it, he tried to throw us out again and then got two security guards involved to do so. We then left as I he was literally. Shouting at us “ go spend your money in their bar, we don’t care if you don’t spend it in here “. Seriously, what ??? It was almost laughable. We remained completely calm throughout the interaction but this guy was like a man possessed. Suggest you consider appointing a new bar manager because this guy is dreadful.

Tiberiu reserved the table for me but he was off on the day I was with my friends. He let a message to the manager to offer me a glass of prosecco. That was so nice gesture. We've been served by Sam (I think that is his name), he is a teenager and he was amazing and professional. Bless him. The food came quick and it was so tasty and fresh. We really had an amazing dinner and we all 4 enjoy it. We will be back soon. Thank you so much Jose Pizarro!

This is not Spanish food. I ordered the jamón croquetas, the tortilla and the prawns. 19£ for 4 prawns in a garlic butter?! They also got my order wrong and brought the chicken croquetas at first. The service sorted it rather fast and without fuzz though. The tortilla was burnt on the outside, dry at the edges (ordered medium) and unevenly salted (some parts bland, others overly salty) The wine was warm when it arrived, I let it cool at the table to get closer to drinking temperature. For 56£ an absolute disaster. Note that the menu available for download is not the actual menu. Stay away from this place if you've ever tasted proper Spanish food.

Incredible culinary experience and personalized attention. I had the opportunity to visit the aforementioned restaurant and I must say that it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm smile and welcoming atmosphere. I especially want to highlight the exceptional service of Vanesa, who not only made us feel at home, but also helped us choose the best dishes on the menu. Their knowledge of the ingredients and recommendations were key to enjoying the evening to the fullest. Vanesa was attentive throughout the meal, making sure we didn't miss anything and that we were comfortable at all times. Their attention to detail really made a difference. I recommend José Pizzaro London not only for its amazing food, but for the passionate staff like Vanesa, who made our visit an unforgettable experience. We will definitely return!

The food was mediocre and the staff were slow. Our Spanish omelette was raw and we mentioned it and they asked us how we said we wanted it cooked, no one asked us when we ordered and surely you want eggs cooked? I’ve been to Spain many times and never asked how I want my Spanish omelette cooked. The staff then avoided dealing with us, and delivered no apology. I eventually had to go up and pay and there was no acknowledgement from them of the situation.

José Pizarro, known for its celebrated Spanish cuisine and tapas-style dining, had been on my must-visit list for a while. As someone who loves the idea of sharing food and savoring different flavors, I was excited to experience the offerings of a restaurant led by such a renowned chef. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite underwhelming, with the food falling short of expectations in both flavor and presentation. The evening started with a simple yet promising dish—pan y tomate, which I paired with marinated anchovies. This combination was by far the highlight of the meal, with the fresh, tangy tomato on crusty bread complementing the salty, umami-rich anchovies perfectly. It was a good start, but unfortunately, it was the peak of the culinary experience. The croquetas and prawn fritters, which I was particularly looking forward to, were disappointing. The croquetas were bland, lacking the rich, creamy texture and flavor they are known for. The prawn fritters were even worse, as they were soggy and greasy, leaving a strong impression that the oil used for frying was past its prime. It was a greasy mishap that overshadowed any potential these dishes had. The tuna tartare with avocado, another dish I had high hopes for, was a letdown. The balance of flavors was completely off, with the avocado and lime dominating the dish, turning what should have been a delicate tuna tartare into something more akin to a ceviche. The tuna, over-marinated and lacking its natural flavor, was nearly lost amidst the other ingredients. The tortilla, a classic Spanish dish, was mediocre at best. It was served with an aioli that was supposed to elevate the dish, but the sauce was overpoweringly oily and lacked the essential garlic flavor that makes aioli so delightful. It was a stark reminder that even simple dishes can fall flat without attention to detail. Being a fan of José Pizarro’s work, especially his Basque cuisine book, I couldn’t resist ordering the torta de queso (cheesecake) for dessert. Sadly, this too was a disappointment. The cheesecake was dry and stale, lacking the creamy richness I had hoped for. It was a sad end to a meal that had already been a series of culinary missteps. Overall, my experience at José Pizarro was underwhelming. The few bright spots couldn’t make up for the many disappointments, and the lack of flavor and care in the dishes was surprising for such a highly regarded restaurant. Based on this visit, I can only give the experience a 6/10. I hope that my next encounter with José Pizarro’s cuisine will live up to the high expectations set by his reputation and previous works.

It is very noisy including the restaurant itself which makes you shout to hear yourself talk. Service was good and we were well looked after. Tapas came quickly and was well cooked. Of course they are small plates but the portions for the cost were on the smaller side. Expensive for the small baked cheesecake. A mixed experience and maybe best to come when it is quieter.

I booked this restaurant as I saw Jose on TV. He seemed passionate about food and as the TV presenter was raving about his dishes I thought that it would be worth a visit. The food that we had was acceptable, but I have cooked better myself. There were a few reasons why this restaurant was not good, the key one was probably the staff. They did not seem motivated to give a high level of service. When I went in went in, I hung up my coat as no one made any move to do this for me. The staff did not walk the room to see if we needed our wine topped up, if we were enjoying our meal or if wanted anything else from the menu. My husband and I order starters to share and a main course each and I distinctly remember discussing with the waiter how I’d like my pork cooked. After waiting quite some time, and long after my husband had finished his food, I got up and asked the manger where my meal was. I would have thought, that at this point, the manager would have tried to recover the situation, but instead he sent the waiter over to say I didn’t order it in the first place. It would have been so easy for the staff to give us a good experience. I suspect they were either poorly trained or they just didn’t care. In the end they did offer to cook the pork but by that time I just wanted to leave. We were not looking for anything special, just well cooked, simple food. Unfortunately I fell for the TV hype. I wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t go back.

We came here on an unplanned visit as we were in the area but we've had heard about the place. The food was nice. The highlight for me was the pluma ibérica, great fatty meat that melts in your mouth. The octopus was good but, coming from Spain, I prefer it with potatoes. The mash was a bit too liquid and, not my favourite. The croquetas of the day were spinach and blue cheese... They were great! Patatas bravas were nice but, perhaps not bravas enough as in not too hot. The service was great though. We didn't have a booked table and they located us on a tall table at the beginning ( very busy lunch time). When I asked, they rearranged it so they gave us a normal table, much more comfortable and they moved everything for us. They were brilliant. The churros were nice but, not brilliant. The wine, I would like a bit more variety of less expensive wines. Overall pretty nice.

I literally can't remember the last time I wrote a review in which I couldn't find some small thing to criticise. However, our experience on Tuesday, 18/7/23, at José Pizarro was faultless. From the moment we arrived shortly after 12.00, till we left around 3pm, we couldn't stop commenting on how wonderful absolutely everything was. The Maitre D looked a bit anxious, when I told him our party of 4 hadn't booked, but said he'd squeeze us in, and gave us a lovely table by the open, sliding doors. It seemed a bit odd at the time, as it was virtually empty, however, it was totally full, including the outside tables, within about half an hour. Every single, other member of staff we dealt with was also absolutely charming, especially our main server, Alex, who apologised for being a bit slow taking our order, as she was relatively new, but in fact, was totally professional. She was also incredibly patient with taking photos of all of us, on all 4 of our phones. There was a fairly limited menu (which to me, is actually a good sign), but we had no trouble finding vegetarian dishes, as one of us was veggie. We all agreed the olives were the best we had ever tasted, and as each new dish was brought, we were swooning at how delicious they all were. Small details like good quality napkins, just added to our appreciation of the restaurant. Perhaps the best thing, though, was the fact that, including service, 6 tapas dishes, 3 desserts (shared between us), 4 teas or coffees, and one glass of wine (mine!) the bill only came to £102, which was incredibly good value for the location, let alone the stunning quality. We gave Alex an additional £10 tip, as we felt she deserved it, and we made a point of telling the Maitre D how impressed we were with every aspect of our meal. I have already told all my friends about it, and will definitely be back as soon as possible.

Broadgate Circle can get very busy, especially during a weekday evening. Like most of the food establishments here, expect a slightly less favourable experience compared to restaurants at quieter locations. During my latest visit we were passed by waiting staff several times, who neglected to look in our direction, forcing me to call out at increasingly elevated volumes to get attention. When we did come to place our order we discovered two of the items we wanted were no longer available, which would have been good to know when we were handed our menus. However, from the point that our mysterious invisibility cloak was lifted, the service was actually friendly and helpful. Mainstays, such as the jamon and the pickled anchovies, were great as usual, but other dishes fell a bit flat, especially the sourdough, which was cold and dense and the Basque cheesecake, which was slightly burnt. While the food was OK the bottle of José Pizarro rosé we ordered was very nice - it certainly helped to smooth out an otherwise rocky dinner.

Incredible food as always at a José Pizarro restaurant and this branch is no exception! The tapas selection was very comprehensive and each portion was beautifully presented. However, we felt that the atmosphere of this particular branch was a bit cold as opposed to the flagship on Bermondsey St. The overall environment was also quite loud but that’s mainly because of surrounding bars on Broadgate Circle so nothing that can be changed by the restaurant sadly. I still had to knock down one start though as I felt the service was also a bit rushed and sometimes hesitant which made the overall experience a little bit pushy (we ate 6-8 tapas and dessert in literally 45mins and felt like we were pushed to finish as soon as possible even though the restaurant was not full). Anyway, we had a good experience overall but will not probably return at this specific branch.

The portions were smaller than local Spanish restaurants I go to but nearly double the price. Meat dishes in particular were very expensive. The menu was also relatively small in terms of choice. Drinks weren't as expensive by comparison. The decor inside was seemed a bit cold and bland and didn't create the warmest atmosphere. The mini burgers were easily the tastiest thing and I would highly recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a tapas restaurant in the Broadgate Liverpool Street area and let me tell you, it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and a palpable sense of hospitality, especially thanks to the amazing Jairo. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh boy, where do I even begin? The tapas selection at this place is a culinary dream come true. Their jamón ibérico was simply mouthwatering, with its rich, melt-in-your-mouth flavor that left me wanting more. It was the perfect start to our meal and set the bar high for what was to come. Next up, the ensaladilla rusa. I am typically not a fan of salads, but this one was like no other. Bursting with fresh and perfectly diced vegetables, it was both refreshing and satisfying. The combination of flavors and textures was simply divine, making it an instant favorite. But let's not forget about the croquetas de jamón ibérico. These little bites of heaven were incredibly creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Each bite was a burst of savory goodness, showcasing the high-quality jamón ibérico that was used. It's safe to say that I am now officially obsessed with these croquetas. Moving on to the octopus, it was cooked to absolute perfection. Tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right, it was a true testament to the skill and expertise of the chefs. The presentation was also top-notch, with each piece artfully arranged on the plate. It was a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds. Now, let's talk about the grand finale - the basque cheesecake. I have had cheesecakes from various places, but this one truly stood out. It was creamy, rich, and had the perfect balance of sweetness. The crust was perfectly crisp, adding a delightful contrast in texture. I could have easily devoured the entire cheesecake on my own, it was that good. Lastly, I want to express my utmost gratitude to Jairo for his exceptional hospitality. His warm smile and attentive service elevated the entire dining experience. It's rare to find a restaurant where the staff genuinely cares about their customers, and Jairo truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and attended to. Overall, I cannot recommend this tapas restaurant in Broadgate Liverpool Street enough. The food, the service, and the ambiance were all impeccable. So, if you find yourself in the area, make sure to try the jamón ibérico, ensaladilla rusa, croquetas de jamón ibérico, octopus, and the heavenly basque cheesecake. And don't forget to thank Jairo for adding that extra touch of excellence to your dining experience.

Good venue, lively, good feel, good service. Food - mediocre, disappointing. Lacking any real flavour, over use of garlic. Anybody in tune with tapas will just view this place as overpriced normal food. Croquteas were nice but oil was too hot and the outside dark brown - really? We had 6 dishes - the prawns were nice but £18.00 for 4 prawns. Pork, £17.00 was tender but not an ounce of flavour. Our local tapas in Cuffley is better than this place. Was hoping to see some classic Spanish tapas……but no

Too small portions for main course. When I say small, I mean it, tiny like you would have as appetizers

We were really looking forward to this dining experience but left feeling disappointed despite good staff service and ambience of the establishment. The food is very pricey for what you get. Amongst a number of dishes ordered, the croquets of the day were oily, the bread spread with a tomato mixture was soggy and the extremely overpriced ham slices were see through and sparce. The dessert which consisted of a chocolate pot and another of custard were the best dishes ordered.

Always excellent food and service and lovely to sit at the counter and watch the chefs at work or outdoors in Broadgate Circle when the sun is shining. We visit José's various locations a few times a year and highly recommend the excellent tapas, including piping hot croquettes, the highest quality, beautifully sliced jamon iberico, juicy & tasty mini burgers, crisp pan con tomate, fresh seafood (polpo/prawns) and outstanding presa/pluma. Their tortilla is also one of the best we've ever had. Staff are always super friendly and very well informed.

The food was absolutely excellent, every dish was just so tasty and well presented. The only thing that lets this branch down slightly is the decor/ambiance. It's very dull! Not sure if that's just the style in Broadgate Circle because I've been to the Bar Douro there which was also good food, dull corporate decor. But I'd definitely go back for the food. Or maybe just go to the nicer branches in Bermondsey!

I love the José Pizarro located on Bermondsey Street so I was excited to try the Broadgate location. It was very busy and the staff were a bit overwhelmed. Having said that, the food was authentic and the flavors were quite delicious. As it was quite busy, we weren’t able to truly relax and enjoy tapas in a chill environment. The chorizo was unique and really well prepared. The Jamón Ibérico portion was smaller than expected but again, the flavor was fantastic. I recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area and looking for great tapas and a nice wine selection.

José in Bermondsey Street was always a delight - small counter dining with a daily menu of delicious produce. José Pizarro in Broadgate is a pale commercialised version of this experience that is ok but doesn't quite hit the mark. Everything was fine.. nothing was great. (Also - £32 for anchovies 🤯)

It’s nice to dine at a Spanish restaurant every now and then, and the crew here were real nice and attentive. Being Spanish myself I have to say the pluma was exquisite, order medium raw as it’ll melt in your mouth. The Iberian ham croquettes were also quite good, though I’ve had better omelette and pulpo. Overall a nice experience.

I’ve been to the Jose Pizarro on Bermondsey Street before so I had high expectations. Unfortunately the name of the restaurant is the only thing they have in common! Food wasn’t great, decor was bad and the staff didn’t seem to want to be there any more than we did. Just another chain restaurant. Go to Bermondsey street Jose if you want an authentic experience.

A case of style over substance. Tapas dishes feel over-engineered and yet aren’t massively tasty. For example, we had the special deep-fried baby lamb cutlets - promised a lot but delivered little: there was barely any meat and the crumb was bland. We fed this back and did get a free dessert, which was a nice touch. Service and atmosphere were generally good but overall experience does not justify the price tag. I don’t think we’ll return.

Thing is with tapas bars in the UK they are overpriced and not worth paying out for. Having lived in Spain for years and eating real tapas at real prices (often they come free with a drink) it's hard for me to be complimentary

Style over substance. Small, bland portions accompanied by a huge bill! The RA was a beautiful setting - and the staff were attentive - but serving staff asking who the 'cheese on toast' was for really emphasised 'style over substance'. It was painful paying almost £200 for a party of 5 when we left still hungry! Five Guys next time!

Really good place for tapas. Not cheap, but you do notice the quality of the ingredients. Also worth mentioning the good service, which showed a real attention to detail. For example, we were advised when we had ordered too much food, and the waitress noticed when we had a lot of sauce left from the mussels and suggested some bread to mop it up. Have to deduct a star for being given a time limit of two hours, on a point of principle.

Hmmn, so not great tapas and not bad tapas. Not super-expensive but definitely not cheap. Poor value patatas bravas, poor quality tomatoes in our salad. Some of the more adventurous dishes just didn't deliver but the tortilla espanola was OK-good as were the mussels. Won't be rushing back I'm afraid, but if you want a ZiZi-like experience but spanish tapas it sort of works.
