Joshua Bradley in Tameside

We have eaten here several times over the years so always happy to return. The service from our Waitress Marissa was excellent and couldn't be faulted - well done Marissa and thank you. The food was OK. Not the best we've had. The Poached Salmon Fishcake was disappointing. Hardly any Salmon at all and was mainly mashed potato. The Leek velute was tasty but needed to be more of it to soak up all the mash. The Sea Bass fillet was very nice but again it was served with a huge lump of mashed potato and not enough of the sauce. My partner had the Grilled Bury Black Pudding which was really thin and there was more Crumpet than Black Pudding, but he said it was very tasty. He then had the Three Cheese and Onion Pie with chips. Plenty of cheese in the pie but the pastry was very brown and hard. Not our best experience on this particular visit, so it will be out last for a while.

Met a friend for our yearly Christmas meal! Certainly weren’t disappointed. The staff in the dining room were extremely professional and nothing was too much trouble. We ordered a 3 course meal each. The soup for myself was far too spicy. The waitress didn’t hesitate to offer an alternative. The main meal was delicious complete with condiments. Cooked to perfection. Then the icing on the cake was the dessert! Extremely good value for money too. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again and would certainly recommend.

Celebrating an 83rd birthday in our family group with a light evening meal. The food was immaculately prepared, very tasty, good value, and Marissa looked after us with care and great service.

Been here quite a lot recently with friends and family alike and we all feel that this venue offers great food, service and also a fantastic atmosphere.

Party of 14 to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday. Couldn’t fault the staff from start to finish. We were welcomed by Sarah who couldn’t do enough for us. Our server was Max - what a delight he was; polite, pleasant, attentive. The food was good and the ambience was great. It was a little overly warm in the restaurant but considering how cold and icy it was outside it’s got to be a positive. I hope the management read this as I sincerely want them to realise how fantastic Sarah and Max are. Please pass on our thanks to them again.

We can’t Thank the staff from start to finish, from when I phoned up about a big numbers you were there to suggest the best way this could happen. We had the Bamford room and we were able to dress it and move things around. It was really good. The day of the meal we were given a waiter called Max , wow, max was the most professional, kind, and polite person and was very attentive with all my family. Organised the food with the other waiters and managing our room really well. Max was there all the way through and we couldn’t have asked for more from him. Thank you max for making our meal relaxed and enjoyable.

The service was excellent but on of our party was milk and egg intolerant so we asked for something she could eat. You made salmon three. Re potatoes and sauce but it cost £22 which we thought excessive and I ordered cheese and onion pie it was like a flan I didn’t like the taste at all we thought the prices were high for what we got it was cold in the room too.

Enjoy afternoon lunch (set menu two course £14.95) seafood basket and jam sponge - really enjoyable, chips were very nice and overall a great experience. Staff very attentive and helpful. Never been before and will most certainly return - brilliant

Food was awful. I’ve been here in the past for other peoples birthdays and never come out with a good impression due to the cost of what I felt was substandard food. However as it had been a few years so my friend and I decided to come and try it again as it is located half way between both of our homes. We were shown to a table in the main room on the right hand side where my friend was a little bit squashed into the wall. The place is decorated beautifully and always has been but I was surprised it wasn’t as busy as I remember it. We had pre booked which was easy to do. We ordered drinks (wine prices are astronomical) and took a look at the menu. We decided to try a selection of smaller dishes each and choose six items between us. The food came out really quickly and I said to my friend “wow that was really fast, a bit too fast” and started to laugh. Well.. i know why it was so fast! The salt and pepper chips were delicious unfortunately the chicken was dry as heck and had no taste to it at all. The sauce that accompanied it was also tasteless. The pulled pork balls, were equally tasteless and resembled mush inside. I left most of my food untouched..what a disappointment and when I looked over my friend had also left half of hers which is very unusual. She said it was dry and tasteless too and couldn’t finish it. Previously working in the industry and coming from a cheffing family I know how good can taste and that it can taste fantastic on a simple enough budget. The plates were cleared and we were asked if we would like more drinks. My friends came to her five minutes later but mine wasn’t it had been missed of the order ,which happens no worries we all have moments but we were then left for an age without being asked if we wanted desert and without being able to grab anyone to ask for my drink. Eventually we got that drink and we ordered dessert because we were starving. I ordered a Manchester tart and like it’s main course, it was overloaded with the driest packeted coconut to accompany the driest pastry. So there’s a theme going on here. Deflated we sat for another long time before standing up and paying the bill on the way out. To summarise .. food is tasteless and dry. Prices are high for the low standard. Service was .. ok. Nice enough staff but way too casual in their approach

We went for an 80th birthday lunch, it was perfect. We all chose the same main course from the fixed menu - seafood basket. The cod goujons were excellent homemade light crispy batter, everything was fresh and very tasty. We ate in the orangery and then had coffee out in the patio as it was a hot day. The waitress was really good, friendly and efficient.

It was the hottest day of the year so far and the restaurant and beer garden was the busiest ever .. we had a lovely time. The service was slightly slow due to the restaurant being so busy & us being a larger party of 14, but our visit was made very enjoyable, all our requests met & food was good .. a great venue for a party.

After driving to the Joshua Bradley famished we ordered two Sunday lunches one beef tat I asked to be well done and one chicken we waited good staff very attentive clean environment our meals turned up the chicken was warm the beef was pink and slightly bloody the potatoes were hard and it had warm shredded red cabbage which totally ruined the look and taste I sent it back waited and just after my partner finished her meal it arrived the beef had been grilled and the rest must have been in a microwave we informed the staff nothing was done in the way of apologising we will not be going there again

Sunday lunch poor quality beef was very pink fatty and chewy and roast potatoes were hard. One of our meals was sent back.

Lovely place but the food wasn’t that great. I had the 3 cheese and onion pie. It wasn’t nice. Had the consistency of an egg custard and if there were 3 cheeses in that they must have been thrown from a helicopter. Left most of it. All of the food looked pretty basic and didn’t live up to the style of the place. Went out in the garden area after which was lovely as it was a lovely day.

Great service in pleasant surroundings. Staff are charming and efficient and they serve the best fish and chips ever. Plenty of parking

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime for a family meal from the main menu. Can't fault the venue or the service which was superb. However for the prices being charged, the portion sizes were small. The food was ok but nothing special, and was particularly disappointed to find a piece of plastic tub in my fish pie.

We met up for a family Sunday lunch, 12 of us aged 16 to 90. The service was lovely. Kind, caring and efficient staff who were looking after everyone in a busy restaurant. It’s a lovely comfortable setting too. Warm welcoming bar, comfy lounges and a conservatory style dining area. This place is good at what they do. Good Sunday lunch and great value for money.

A group of us visited the JB for a catch up evening. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. Great atmosphere in there too.

Excellent food at unbeatable price and great beer in superb condition. Really wonderful setting and excellent staff. Special mention for Georgia who looked after us really well and went the extra mile to make sure all our needs were met and requests fulfilled. Many thanks for a fabulous experience

From arrival to departure the service and staff were superb, human and just lovely people, the food was fantastic for all 14 members of our family. My son, daughter in law and granddaughter visiting from Australia wish they had a Joshua Bradley near them…! Just a great evening out for all of us, thank you.

We visited The Joshua Bradley for a birthday treat for my wife. Both of our main meals included tender stem broccoli, but we found that we were unable to eat it as it was hard and undercooked. When asked how our meal was we both said that the broccoli was inedible, only to be told by the waitress that it was “Al Dente”. She offered to get another serving of the broccoli, but when it came it wasn’t any better, and s3o had to leave most of it again. Perhaps customers should be asked how they want their vegetables cooked, as they are asked how they want their steak cooked? As a retired couple we have noticed the big increases in the cost of meals, due to inflation, But that shouldn’t also mean the reduction in portion sizes. We have visited The Joshua Bradley many times over the years but found this meal very disappointing.

I have been here a few times now to meet a friend. It is a good place to meet up - the food is good although nothing extraordinary - we are always left to chat without being hassled and it is a convenient and friendly place to meet up. One staff member was particularly friendly - I hope she can teach one of the others to smile!!

Absolutely beautiful meal at the Joshua Bradley on the very rare occasion of us having a meal out with our 2 "children" (37 & 39) - the food was spot on as was the service. The drinks were reasonably priced and good quality - all in all a fantastic experience at a very reasonable price.

I visited the pub on Sunday with my family (4 adults, 1 child and a big dog) and had a lovely time. We came for the Sunday platter for two, which thy adults ordered and my little brother ordered the belly pork. The food was very tasty, plenty of it and we even had leftovers. The chicken was maybe a little dry and the plate overall was a bit cool so had maybe been sat on the pass waiting for final elements to be added but the delicious gravy with meat flakes in was lovely and hot and heated everything up nicely. James our server was so friendly and helpful, ensuring we had plenty of drinks and extra gravy but was never intrusive. The dog was given water, a biscuit and lots of attention too and we all felt very welcome. All in all a very pleasant meal in a lovely building with great staff and if the weather allows, some nice gardens to walk off your lunch in. Would definitely come back.

I visited the Hyde/Gee Cross Joshua Bradley for a quiet birthday get-together with some friends. We were greeted by the most pleasant James who welcomed us with a smile and was most accommodating. He made sure to get my friends' food orders spot on, where they ordered the medium côte de bœuf. Steph(?) brought the food over with grace a smile. :) If you are lucky enough to be met with James behind bar, rest assured every need and want will be met!

Came for lunch yesterday with a friend and it was a disaster I never complain but we could not eat the meal. The starter was ok but the pita bread was rock hard and hard to eat. The main food was tepid and being risotto was not a nice experience. The waitress was lovely and offered an alternative, however we had gone past it by then. I felt embarrassed in front of my friend who was visiting me. We were so hungry we ordered a dessert which to my dismay was also cold!! And had to be sent back. I have been many times to the Joshua Bradley and had lovely meals, so my question is what has happened have you changed the chef and kitchen staff

Our first -time visit to the Joshua Bradley was a delight. The person who waited on our table was attentive , helpful and very welcoming. The food was good, freshly prepared and adventurous. We will certainly be making a return visit.

I brought 6 friends to the Joshua Bradley for the first time. They were very impressed and loved the food. The roast Sunday dinners were delicious. All but one had a dessert. Some said that they would definitely be coming back as will I.
